I feel like PDAF is a double-edged sword. I love my GH6. I think it's one of the best cameras ever made, especially for cinema work. If they are giving me the best sensor they can make, and they give me a regular AF system to go with it, then I think that is a better deal than a "mid-looking sensor" with PDAF. But in the end, Panasonic is a consumer electronics company. They will cater to what the consumer wants, and that's clearly PDAF. Hopefully they don't neglect the GH6 now. Great video!
@@henakos I think there's something about the PDAF that affects the way images look on the sensors. It's probably part of why Lumix held on to DFD for so long.
Thank you for touching on the color science. I noticed this a little with the G9ii that its a little sharper (in not 100% a good way) and more neutral. I still think the GH6 is king of color in that way specifically but overall the tradeoffs are probably worth it.

@@MatthewDangyou but why they still degrade image quality with new models? For me it's always they main selling points - organic, natural image, colors but it's getting worse with every new camera.
It can be but you don’t get the 32bit float. That function must be on the gh7 side. Not sure how hardware dependent it is or if it’s eventually possible to update it to the s5iix. My guess is we won’t see that in a S series camera until the S1Hii
Is the GH7 sharper than the G9II ? Because if they are about the same, the issue is not the G9II or GH7 are sharper than the GH6, it's just the GH6 is unable to get accurate focus as soon as you press the recording button when using low frame rates. I have both the GH6 and G9II and the sharpness is the same when using AF-S.
I personally think it is sharper and cool look to both the GH7 and G9ii but I will take that correct in post or in camera and have really good autofocus any day!

It's so sad that the 2 things they "fixed" are things they could have pushed in a firmware/software update. Such a scummy move from Panasonic to abandon the GH6 already. I've been waiting since I got the GH6 for both of those issues to be fixed in an update, as well as the ability to turn off the awful circle in the level on screen.
