I am once again hoping that one day Lumix will make an APS-C L-mount camera in a box-style body. Effectively a direct answer to the FX30. By not going full frame, that would give them a lot more wiggle room to nail the engineering of the other parts of a cinema camera (that 'organic' sensor feeling, fast sensor readout, low HDMI lag, internal ND etc).

I believe they change the industry back in gh4 and gh5. I do not know about now.

Absoluteeely guys! those medium format from lumix are great! The best autofocus in class. Fast readout sensors and low rolling shutter at pricepoint. Great pro line with great bodies! Great consumer line with light bodies and rangefinder sort of. The souuce! luoool The gh6 is soo beautiful, those R6II have no soul! Arri log? Gorgeus! hahaha really funny ah, S9 is revolutionary!

How can Panasonic cameras, bieng that good, are the least desirable among the community? Im in love with my S5IIXs, dropped my Sony ecosystem for Lumix and cant be more happy yet no one are buying them.

Great insights bro.. but unless Limix releases the S1hM2 or whatever that will be called, I am reserving my thoughts on the future of LUMIX. It’s high time, we need a vine camera like body with 4K 60 no crop with some additional features. 🙏

Sold my S5iix and still waitin on my Gh7 w arri, whats weird is when i ordered the description said free arri package. It was def 199. Mor e for arri😅although the body only is in stock showin.i may replace the S5iix w a GH7 full frame to use my 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 of course but prob keep my GH6’s .lumix could make 12-35 1.7 and 35-100 1.7 soon. Flippy screen is king. Raw is awesome except workflow for me requires noise reduction also edit workflow is more extensive although for video to audio is like shooting 32bit float video. S1h2 send it ill be checkin the doorstep😂price does have to compete unless Lumix is droppin 8k 60 prores raw 🎉 no view finder . Ill doolike the s9🥹Thank You

Hey Matthew. GH7 related question for you. If you have the DMW-XLR2 XLR Microphone Adapter and you connect a regular on camera shotgun microphone (like a RODE videomic ntg) does it capable to record 32 bit float audio to the camera right? Also I'm looking for a guide on how to expose VLOG on the gh7. There are some videos on the internet for the S5II but thats not the same settings etc. Thank you in advance.

I agree about the time limits on the S9.....It's not a deal breaker but I've already encountered scenarios that made me think the same, this just needs a bit more...AT LEAST a bump to 15min 6k and 20min in 40K....and see where it goes!.

Good conversation, Have a Lumix S5iix need a good b cam with V-log. doesn't need to have great autofocus or even any auto focus. Just want to be able to match the color without having to do major amounts of work. Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm for sure on a budget. Also what's a good budget all around lens? I shoot in 5.9 pro res usually. Thanks ahead of time.

So the little white light at the back, does it light up when you plug it in to your video camera or whatever? Also when I’m looking at my video camera, I see the microphone icon, but I don’t see the mic lighting up green or anything while I’m talking on it. I did tap on the mic to make sure it was working. I’m assuming it is because I was getting tapping noises. Basically I saw nothing that was telling me the microphone was working.

I am invested in both lens systems. There are reasons for me to have both. I have both - once my GH7 gets delivered later today ;-)

I have a speedbooster so low light won't be a problem for me.

I will replace my GH4 with a GH7, since my lenses are all m43. If I need more than ISO 4000, I'm lighting the scene, anyway. If I need MORE bokeh and LESS depth of field, I'm out of my genre, anyway. Much of my work involves photographing slides, transparencies, and film negatives (camera scanning), so the increased depth of field on the 30mm macro lens is welcome! The good news is, both formats are great. Lumix will continue to evolve their feature set. No doubt, the replacement for the S1H will be more like the GH7 than the S5IIX.

I’m Not pointing at you Matt….. I get it that people may be pissed about no hotshoe for a flash but I’m always blown away Sony is noted top for ON CAMERA microphones 😂 with all of today’s options… all of us don’t prefer to use on camera microphones as our best option. Or isolate ourselves to only Sony microphones 😅 There are so many situations that would be useless. I guess I would like Photographers to be absolutely honest, would you carry around with you…. and throw on a Flash Trigger and setup a Godox AD200 Flash as a Content Creator 😂. No you wouldn’t and LUMIX knew that conversation would have been even more awkward. The Internet Community would have been like, “What was LUMIX thinking when I could just buy a …. Instead” 😂 The truth is, people just wanted to go at LUMIX plan and simple.

Those two things you mentioned are not cons at all. THEY ARE CINE LENSES cine lens are not autofocus and of course the weight goes with it. TOTALLY pros.

Both are massively overpriced.

First reviewer I've watched, that are able to clearly convey to whom the intended audience of this camera is for. S9 is the perfect dad cam for me. I'm not a professional, I'm just an enthusiast with a lot of know how. When I'm out with my kids, my family, or I'm at family events, or most importantly, during traveling, I'm the sole photographer/videographer for the whole gang. I this fast paced day and age, a quick turnaround is what expected of me from my big family. Especially my parents who know little about editing process. During this time, usually with my Canon r6, I had to dump the files to my laptop (got to carry one as a necessity, I hate this tbh) AFTER the event/Itinerary, edit while everyone is taking their rest, and send it late at night when everyone is already asleep. They'll look and happy in the morning, but often what I found out was that, some was so impatient that they already posted the inferior (skewed angle, unflattering pose, cut off body parts, etc) images/videos, and it rendered my "work" less meaningful. Also, I'm sleep deprived while they are in a great mood thanks to the abundance of rest time 😅 With this s9, imagine what I'd do now? For photos: I took a Pic and it immediately transfered to my phone without looking at my phone once, with the LUT that I already handpicked. Once there's a break/eating time, I just looked at the transferred images and do some cropping/image positioning, and send to all member. That's it. For videos: I'll just edit the videos timelines, add some effects/transitions, and export from the lumix lab/other mobile editor. Saying goodbye to color grading and most importantly, bringing my damn heavy laptop to a trip. It's gonna be perfect for me and a lot of parents alike. Those limitations are nothing for me. As long as I can attach a rode mic, it'll be fine already. Oh and since it can also transfer raw images at a fast speed as well, I'll do my "fun" editing at my own time, for my own pleasure another time.. Without any immediate pressure! Cheers!

My Background: Starting with the very first gh camera I am shooting since over 10 years with the whole GH range of cameras. my last upgrade was to the GH 5 mark two but the ongoing lack of usable, not hunting auto focus, esp in longer shots let me regret my investment. This is why the G9 mk2 convinced me completely especially as a video camera. but I have one question for you and maybe you can help: I want to incorporate this camera in my small podcast studio connecting it to a video switcher like the Yolobox and the Atem. so during the shoot, the recording is done by the video switcher. what is in your opinion the optimal setting of the G9 mark two in terms of auto focus in a one or two person talking setting. As I want to shoot open Manual focus is too risky. I would appreciate any idea in that regard. thank you!

The S9’s record limits are wild in 2024. Just feels like an entirely unfinished camera.

One thing worth noting is - Lumix Lab App is Stellar! Im not familiar with the Sony app situation but you're right about MP4lite being a great codec for transferring videos to the phone. I put it in iMovie app to quickly stitch together short clips to create a mini-vlog and sharing it on chat groups... within minutes after I shoot. @Matthew what apps do you use for mobile edit?
