didn't they say at the start of payday 3's launch that a core aspect of the game will be non-linear hesit design? most of payday 2's last heists worked that way too
You mean the EMP? Not sure if I bugged it but during my stealth run I could absolutely open the box and take it before the quest told me to.

The colour grading in the main floor is bizarre, it looks really nice from that office window and becomes so ugly once you descend into it.
It is a known issue stated in the patch notes. They will fix next update for sure.
Concord really was a fumbled bag for the story. We start off with a villain that seems fairly intimidating, making us wonder what he could plan next to "ok he's bankrupt now, we don't have to worry about him anymore :)"
As Dallas said in that cutscene: "I wish we could've killed him."
...Bankruptcy? He'll just get a bail-out or use *super duper dark connections11!!* to get back at it
Remember how in Crude Awakening we trapped the villain in a room and stealthily placed poisonous gas to kill him? And then had to pump oil out through a cleverly designed puzzle, then escape before it blows up? What ever happened to that kind of heist?
And the name is now...well...if you know, you know.
Well, mark the *third* villain for Payday 3 that's just erased off-screen.
Maybe that's why it's called Payday 3, for the number of villains that were wasted.

The bugs are really starting to become visible cracks in the walls. The C-Stacks vendor not refreshing on purchase has been with us since launch. Graphical incongruities are becoming frequent like the oil room(s). Trip laser bricking the performance and audio. Now we have invisible cops. I can't recommend this to anyone until a substantial number of fixes are brought about.
Factually false 🤓. The C-Stacks vendor not refreshing after a purchase only started happening after they fixed the glitch that allowed you to buy C-Stacks without increasing the cost by quickly switching tabs.
To be honest, it's even worse now, knowing that.

Starting on the Floor requires all Non-Deployable Favors would be a good way to balance it vs other options, sort of like how Big Bank's Bus Stop was expensive enough that Thermite was no longer an option, but Elevator Trick and C4 Tunneling were still available if you really wanted Thermite.

Nothing against you personally but I think games releasing rewards through twitch making you watch some other person play the game is bullshit. Who the cluck wants to watch someone else play the game they are trying to unlock the reward for instead of just playing the game themselves and unlocking it through a challenge.

I think the biggest bullshit with it is that you will miss out on this content if you don't watch streams. I don't think any content should be outside of the game like that, it brings more frustration than it helps the game and if I didn't know about it and bought the game 2 years after release and saw that there are like 30 mask I can never get because I wasn't there in time I would probably refund the game. And I am saying this as a twitch streamer myself.
On the other hand no one watch the streams, they connect their account, turn on a stream with drops, mute the sound and switch to another tab or go back to playing. Some might watch but not the majority.
I do agree that all these items would be better to work for in game. Complete a heist under a certain time get this mask, do the mission in casing mode get another item. The game need reasons to replay the heists which new items create and challenges for other rewards.

@@BlazeStorm No need to earn the twitch drops, watch and get them but yes outside the game on twitch. But I rather earn them in game, at least that way I don't miss out on them. There is a chance they never add these twitch drops to everyone and that would be a mistake in my opinion.
Starbreeze need to get this different lighting in heists out of the picture.

A rework to the favors on this heist.
The Start inside the Exhange plan could be more of less the equivalent of bringing thermite on Big Bank. But instead of giving you a more risky escape, you have to deal with a Point of No Return timer.
For the weapons.
The Spas-12 could be given a modifaction that swaps is fire rate to semi-auto, increasing the recoil, but retaining the damage. Heck it could even toggle between the two mid-heist.
Also, as an addition to the weapons, shotguns could gain some new ammo types, AP slugs for high-damage sheild-cracking single slugs. Flechette could increase the AP of the weapon to a point where armor can still unleash sigificant damage.
The Reinfeild could gain a custom attachment to increase it's viability a bit more of a boost.
(Magnum, and Sweeper Revicers)
Magnum rechambers the weapon for the higher damage 10 gauge shell, no effect on rate of fire, but there is an effect on recoil.
Sweeper enables Slam-fire, enabling you to empty your gun with a faster fire-rate from the hip.
The Deagle recives the Freebird modification.

Very strange how Overkill learned not that long into PD2's lifetime that timers without risk are really uninteresting in stealth and then they just, forgot that in PD3.

Fun fact: The color filter problems are fixed by the "less green heists"-mod. Idk why they dont just let us disable these filters in the ingame options

I doubt that’ll effect when DLC comes though. Honestly, I’d rather something simpler and much easier to polish, like a heister (Sokol pls) than a whole new heist. The updates coming in October and December, with who knows what in November, should be more than enough to keep us going.
what worries me is that this is the dlc for October November and December pretty sure armour 2.0 is coming out in December according to that dev log, but no new heists till 2025 that's ruff
“No new heists till 2025” has Absolutely NOT been confirmed, I’m extremely doubtful of that as well.
There might be more free heists even if there is no new DLC or maybe some remasters of payday 2 ones with the anniversary. I doubt they are going to go completely dry on content for 3 months.
The shotgun really benefits from the 'reload while running' perk, lets you stay mobile while constantly putting shells in. It has a lot of stagger too which feels great for big groups. I LOVE the Jacknife, it feels so good. Finally a regular pistol that can compete with the Crosskills from PD2.
Eventually I'll read "Fear and Greed" instead of "Fear and Hunger"

I bought the gold pass for payday on Xbox but didn’t realize it didn’t come with the game so now I have the dlc but lack the game itself due to it leaving game pass
Is the audio and interaction bug still present? I want to use the tripwire but I can't stand those two bugs in particular that I know for a fact are tied to it. also 50 C-stacks for a random favor sounds nice, especially if you can choose the heist.

I’m kinda surprised it’s the new toys that’s kept me playing more than the new heists. I think my biggest issue with the heist designs is that they don’t really feel like heists from the previous PD2 but rather generic missions you’d find in other games, like space marines 2. Sure some parts are good but they are just parts, beginning to think it would do them better to just bring back all the old heists. Still hoping it gets better but now that the season pass is complete my financial binds are gone and they have to actually sell me on the product before I buy it instead of tricking me like before.
I broke my personal rule to both preorder and get the premium edition of the game, something I haven’t done in like 6 years. It’s unfortunate that this only reinforced my rule and has once again made me very suspicious of any product the gaming industry puts out.

I really enjoy the sleepy blue color of the exchange room, but only in knowing that it’s all coming from the machines and digital boards themselves. Seeing the room as not blue at all from the outside really shattered the illusion.

Another glitch I've faced in the new heist is being attacked by invisible cops. Sometimes in one of the side rooms that leads to an elevator, I can only see their weapons.

I hope polishing will be more of a focus moving forward now that they're done with the legally binding gold edition content. I'd imagine it might be, the first 2 DLC heists took their sweet time coming out and were reasonably polished in my experience, it's only really the last 2 that seemed super rushed.
It sounds like the lighting stuff is meant to mimic 'light polution' but they keep going overboard with it. It's also possible someone's just gotten way too happy to play around with the slider in UE. I haven't used the engine in a while but i remember with UE4 they were always talking about room-focused tone-lighting where you could make a room look cold or hot by changing the coloration when you enter it, much like what is shown there. Which if so... someone should take that effect away from them, it looks dumb.
I was afraid that the story for this was gonna be underwhelming. The ending scares me a ton, cause it feels like they’ve left the story in a place where the game technically has a “conclusion” if they decide to pull the plug, but it’s not a real conclusion if they decide to continue.
But it really felt like a “that’s it?” kind of ending. Not a single word from Concord himself? At all? Treaty’s just done now? Really? C’mon.

Honestly I'm actually pretty happy with where payday 3 is now. I haven't played since launch and recently jumped back into the game and while it's not perfect, the game is absolutely good fun, way more than it was previously, especially with adaptive armor bringing back the old payday 2 playstyle. It's definitely not worth the 100+ dollars for the gold edition full price, but on sale the game is absolutely worth the price, which is similar to how payday 2 was pre-all the dlc being available in one bundle era
i feel like concord is meant to be the long-term antagonist of the game, especially how the end of year 1 puts it. They're definitely setting him up to be back and badder than before i think, however the story so far in the game is just so.. confusing. Why did we need to get Shayu, Keegan and Locke back in the game if we're not utilizing them? At least payday 2 had their voice in the heist too, not just as the contractor on the main menu.
great review! but i'll be real, i don't think the game should be balanced around the solo loud overkill experience. solo loud overkill is a special challenge and SHOULD be extremely difficult, requiring honed builds and practice to pull off. i would rather they didn't make it easier to cater to those kinds of challenge run players

Solo with bots should not be much more difficult than party.
If you're pulling your weight (and not getting carried by the group) it should be the same difficulty. There is no reason to punish solo oriented players, they can make scaling so that it's an appropriate difficulty for every player count, heck even PD2 has mostly good balance for solo, especially with mods
@@rosco3 huh? what are you talking about? bots don't have good weapons, they don't have skills, and they don't have a human brain. if you play solo on the hardest difficulty, you need to go in expecting it to be a lot harder.
you ever play monster hunter? playing any mission solo is much harder, your assistant can deal damage and can give you unique buffs, but it doesn't draw aggro and doesn't deal comparable amounts of damage as another player. that's not a punishment that it's harder, it's harder because you're playing a game a different way.
payday 3 bots can't hunker down in the security room cameras to mark guards for you, they can't complete concurrent objectives across the map to make your experience quicker and easier, they can't throw grenades to make shields turn away for a clean shot, they can't solo bulldozers by corner creeping, they can't call in overkill weapons, and much more. and they're never going to do any of those things in the future, either. even if you scale them up, playing solo means you are opting for a more difficult experience on purpose, even if that's the only way you want to play. none of that is a bad thing or a punishment, it's a game built around multiplayer and **you are playing the game a different way**
@@SixCubitManCrime boss AI actually do quite a lot, tying down civs, stealing loot, carrying bags and throwing them into the car. You can hotswap between different heisters so you can strategically place them. So it is doable, let's hope Starbreeze learn a few things from Crime Boss and vice versa.
I wonder if the paid dlc model is going to work for them in the future. This is the last dlc that a big chunk of players get for "free" if they bought the most expensive edition. I fear that a lot of players will lose interest when they realise they have to pay for every single big piece of content from now on. I feel like they need to add major content updates to the core game if they want to keep this going.

I personally really like the lighting, but the transitions between the roof and the blue is a bit too harsh. I feel like the lighting could be striking and atmospheric if the transitions between colors were refined and the bugs paved out

Hey Kknowley, with the large influx of new players from the sale and the seemingly hopeful state of the game, you should make a guide for new players. I'm a returning player who left after the bad launch and there's not a lot of up to date information on mechanics and how weapons should be used, so I'd be really useful to have a beginners guide after all the changes.

Other than that the update looks solid if not for a few kinks. But Starbreeze needs to do better in terms of polish if they hope to succeed with Payday 3
For the most part im pretty happy with the update, the heist lacks a bit of replayability and i think the deagle needs a better more powerful sound, other than that the dlc is "alright" im just a bit concerned about the future because if they go back to a dlc release all 3 months and not much inbetween i think the game will lose the last players it has. And because of that i really wouldnt mind a few small classic heists like the normal bank from payday 2 or the jewel stores.

the browning hi power is my all time favorite gun its a classic desing (literally been around for over a hundred years) and it's just so cool looking, love that its in the game

60$ feeling more and more pay gated when something like Space Marine drops and has a 8-12 hour campaign ( some bugs ) but a finished good upfront package, 6 coop levels that are fun enough to regrind on 4 difficulties, limited PvP but still fun, and a established roadmap looking so easy people hope they do extra for the roadmap plans………
And still always online can’t even play the game cause servers are down yet the update was pushed so I defiantly used 4gb to update but then can’t play the game…..
Games officially 54$+ extra for the dlc with the season pass being 55$ So your getting your money worth with the golden pass…. But like that’s a 100$ game for not worth the price….

While I understand the frustration of the Payday 2 Villains aren't really mentioned much, it needs to be remembered that Payday 2's story is also extremely nebulous. The writer they brought in during the last leg of Payday 2's story when it started to jump the shark and go hard into conspiracy theory has confirmed that although the heists themselves are all canon, the events during them including the Safehouse stuff is entirely up to interpretation with the idea being that everything specific that's happened is told as a tale being told by members of the criminal underworld regaling the actions of the Payday Gang with their own embellishment and ideas of what happened or crackpot conspiracy theorists obsessing about the Payday Gang and working backwards from their conclusions. The only thing that's canon is the FBI Files stuff and those are still vague on if the emails are true if the Commissioner was actually contacted by a secret shadow organization or if he was getting desperate to catch the clowns and ended up following a false lead by some troll on the internet. This is goes to explain why the layout of some elements of the heists are different every time and why characters show up in heists that they normally shouldn't be because of timeline reasons like anyone except the original Payday Crew being at Mercy Hospital.
So with that in mind, I don't expect to see a real inclusion of the stuff that happened with Payday 2's True Ending besides vague mentions of heists without anything grandiose such as the Watchers being involved. After all, the devs have expressed they want to make Payday 3 more like Payday: The Heist where it's much more like a more grounded but still action-packed heist movie such as Heat and less like Fast and Furious where we're constantly jumping the shark with extremely convoluted and over the top story stuff.
I kinda hope they keep the Boys in Blue bug, it’s apart of the experience now. It adds to it, I’d say. They can’t deprive new players of the hell hallway.
I entirely disagree with the color scheme complaints. I don’t find it hard to acquire targets in the blue or red, and they provide a unique tone and a very potent way to visually represent heist progress. A lot of the PD3 heists visually blend together due to the same green color grading and the fact almost all of them take place in some kind of brightly lit office building. It also provides a powerful contrast between the trading floor and the rooftop.
As much as I love the guns they added and Houston returning, this is definitely not a bang. Putting Wolf's reskinned default skin as a payed tailor pack item, while also making the entire stealth portion of the heist play very similar to loud, and also have a balance patch that changes nothing significant. Yeah, it's not looking good for the game.

The Hi-Power would feel even better if it had a more accurate 13 round capacity. 10 is okay, but it doesn't quite scratch the itch.

I feel this heist was made to be a loud only heist, but they were scared to fully commit to that. Story kinda sucked but i feel like the gameplay itself scratched a weird itch in my brain to make me really like it. Just fix the blue filter and itll be gold to me
I'm pretty sure the thing about needing to go to the store page to redeem free dlc is something steam changed on their end. During the last year I've seen games switch how their free content works to that system for no apparent reason. One example is powerwashing simulator. For a year or 2 their free content worked just like it did in PD2, where the content just appeared ingame for everyone. But recently they switched to needing free content to be separately claimed from the store page.
I think it might be Steam trying to reduce their expenses, when every single user wont automatically download the free dlc content anymore.

Will they ever rework the skill system? I genuinely have very little desire to come back to the game when I can't specialise into certain playstyles, rather than what I remember being 'toe-dipping' into a playstyle
yeah no , when i played it i culd pick up the device and satilite and put em up before i even went loud , so its just one press on the device and then bile will count dount 2 min escape making overkill a breeze , just look on the side of the boxes thay spawn on , there is a orange cable sticking out of em , that you hover over and press F on and you pick em up through the box ;)

as a ps5 user, i feel they favour the consol version this time. i only twice encountered a glitch, once when houston didnt start to escape, second was the escape van not showing up at cook off. other then those two the game ran well. aiming was terrible at launch, but got fixed soon after
On the one hand it sucks what happens here because there's no real pay off. However, if they play Concord right, then we have 2 routes.
Route A is that Concord returns, he manages to somehow keep some power or whatever and made Payday the fools for failing to nail him.
Route B is less interesting, we heard previously of extremely violent killing ye? Dallas said he wanted to kill Concord so what if Jacket nabs him for his reintroduction. Again less interesting narratively but a badass Jacket moment.
Route C is the most interesting as it combines the three, what if Jacket or a separate part of the Gang, say Sangues and Bode etc are working to hunt Concord and get revenge but haven't made contact with us yet. Then they return and tell us we failed but have leads.

Smth on the lines that there were more secrets and that he is so well connected that the gang didnt destroy him fully and then we kill him later
I can't see Concord giving up this easy
Me and my girl both love the payday series, but it's sad that payday 3 is just not fun, i hate that this is how starbreeze is spitting on the image of payday
I dont know why making good and plenty content for a Game that you Support is so hard for Starbreeze
