Very interesting way of reviewing helmets, instead of just unpacking a helmet and calling it a review like revzilla does. You can tell that a lot of time went into making this video. But it provides a lot of info that enables me to make my own decision which is what I want from a review. Well done!
This was honestly a super good review. I almost always skip to the end of reviews, your in depth testing and realistic ratings on certain parts of the helmet is spot on. Unloke places like revzilla that just take it out of the box, you all went super in depth. Loved it
💥💥 Every helmet manufacturer should watch this. It’s incredible how much effort was put in here to rate so many features and aspects of each helmet. Excellent job…!! 🏆🏆
As I wait for my Neotec 2 to arrive in the mail, I really enjoyed your review and the metrics that you use. That said, there is one metric that too few reviewers seem to consider but matter a LOT for riders who ride every day and in every weather. RAIN!! I have a Scorpion Exo modular helmet. As soon as it starts raining, the cheekpads whet soaked. So, some rain testing in your reviews are truly relevant for me, and for all the other all-weather riders all around the flat earth ;) Dan
Good feedback, thank you for that. I will pass on your feedback to our Data Review team and ask if they can come up with an objective way of measuring water resistance under realistic riding conditions. You're absolutely right, for those who ride in the rain, this can be a dealbreaker which makes it a relevant aspect to look at. Thanks a lot.
@@EEEBA1 In my experience, I've had my Shoei Neotec for almost 8 years & 38K miles riding on a Goldwing, and so far it's held up well and been comfortable in all weather types in the USA from desert to cold rains & including snow😱, but I'm pretty sure I'm overdue for a new helmet given its age and usage as internal components like the foam do weaken and break down over time. But have been also looking hard at the AGV modulars as a possible replacement. But I may just go ahead and go with a new Neotec given my perfect experience with my older one, haha!
Nice overview and comparison. I wear a NeoTech II and I like it very much, but I really appreciate this comparison. You covered a lot of important aspects of helmets, and contributed a solid update to the helmet market for riders.
I absolutely love this video. All my questions i regarding Modular helmets answered ( and gained more info than expected) in one video. Thanks a million. Very helpful. I'm an instant fan!!! Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for the hard work and very detailed review. However I think you missed the most important point to score which is safety. The new ECE 22.06 standard is definitely way more advanced than the others 22.05, DOT, Snell and Sharp. As far as I know there’s only one helmet in the review which has ECE 22.06 which is Schubert C5. That should be also taken into consideration imho.
Good point. We did that in the past, the issue we kept running into was the lack of Sharp scores for the new helmets. It can take months to get Sharp tested, if they get tested at all. So what do we do for the Sharp un-tested helmets? That was basically the reason why we decided to let go of Sharp scores. But excellent thinking. It's of course a relevant aspect for choosing a high-end helmet, good input! Thank you.
I think you are short selling Sharp. One thing it notes is the rate of failure of the hinge mechanism. Shoei does not do well, Schuberth is better but not 100%(though th c5 isn't tested this and impact is consistently not the best across the line). The only helmets with 100% hinge success across the line is Nolan and x-lite.
I'd go to Sharp testing to see how the hinge holds up in impact, and get a sense of the overall safety. Might come to a different conclusion depending on priorities. For example: the Shoei hinge opened in 30% of impacts, and the left side of the helmet has a low impact rating. But knowing a helmet is comfortable and has good ventilation etc. IS important because no matter how safe it is, if it hurts you're not going to wear it.
I went from a cheap modular helmet (200 dollars US) to a Schuberth C3 Pro and recently got a Schuberth C5 (and today received from Germany the SC2 intercom system for it) absolutely love it!
OMG!!!! Best way ever to review a product, you nailed every aspect of an excellent narrator, voice tone, clarity and lots of patience to cover each one of the features. Can I tell my daughter to contact you if this is the way you also classify boyfriends???? LOLOLOLL😂😂😂 No, really, joking aside, your review is in my opinion the best on internet. Great job. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One thing that could have been noted would be the internal head shape that these helmets suit best. Not for a purpose to rate or score but just for general information for a buyer even though I'm sure it would state this on your website. Other than that this was the best and most comprehensive review for modular helmets I've seen. I wish you had included Bell brand but I'm sure you have your reasons.. Same as the one you did for full faced helmets that did. This review gives much more insight for buying online than anywhere else..Thanks from OZ👌👍
Hey guys! Will there be a review of Sena's new helmets, especially the Sena Impulse? Can't wait for it an there is no serious review out there yet although the product is available in certain areas.
Heel interessant. Ik wil eind februari naar de motorbeurs om daar mijn eerste systeem motorhelm te kopen.ik ben nu een beetje voor bereid. Fijn dat ik deze site heb gevonden. Veel van geleerd.
Great review that are very understandable and honest. For my new Indian FTR Carbon I wanted to buy a new helmet. Visually, I liked the AGV Sportsmodular very well, would fit the look of the Carbon FTR. Then Schuberth presented the C5, in conjunction with the headset and its mesh function, ideal to connect me with my friends. Or also to get the Navi announcements on the ears. The features of the helmet are very practical and very accessible. The wind noise is very moderate. Thus I have decided for the C5 in black matt. My conclusion, a brilliant helmet that meets everything I wanted.
Thanks for the review. You could have included how far the chin piece goes over your head. As far as I know only Scorpion, Shark and Roof offer a helmet where the chin piece goes all the way back. It can be argued that only such a configuration is a real system helmet. I own a Schubert and in practice I only open it when driving slowly, stopping etc. So it’s not really two helmets in one.
I own the Nolan in size L and it doesnt feel as heavy as the weight says. I also crashed a N87 and it saved my head. The Pinlock works great and i never had any big issues with fogging except for the worst weather days when a bit of an open vent solved it.
Great review with exception of comfort.. though tester can make an assessment.. on design and certain feature.. Unless his head changes to the shape of every other head.. this one feature is variable amongst different people with different shape/size heads.

Suprised that you use the RPHA 90S Carbon original price for the comparison, while even in your site its listed at 439€. And I just bought the RPHA 90S in matt white + cheek pads for 399€ xd For sure the Neotec and the new C5 have a more premium feeling, but its becoming quite hard to justify the extra +50% price tag with the current prices of the RPHA 90S...
Hi Anreo, please note that there are two versions of the rpha90, the normal one and the carbon version. We used the carbon version in this test. Based on the color you mentioned, you are referring to the non-carbon one. But for the carbon version the price difference is a lot less. But no doubt, the RPHA belongs in the absolute top and delivered on pretty much any aspect we measured.
This helmet test and review indeed comes across quite in-dept. What irritates me is that i just returned from a 5 day tour with the new AGV Sportsmodular and that was the last time i ever wore it as the noise was unbearable as of +100km/h on my Super Duke 1290 R Evo, even with earplugs. I ride motorbike since 20 years and own various helmets from Roof, HJC, Bell but even the openface Arai is less noisy on my ears than the Sportsmodular. Not sure how ChampionH got to such a relative good rating!?
