Yes I prefer the Modular Helmets rather than the Open Faced or Full Faced Helmets & it gives You the 2 combined, I currently wear a HJC Modular Helmet & I ride a 2015 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic, there is one downside that I noticed in this video though & You briefly touched on it near the end, all the Helmets shown had the plastic or metal ratchet locking system on the straps, My HJC has the D-rings & I prefer that because not only does it do what it is designed for but also I can use that to lock it on the Bike, a lot of Bikes don't have a topbox that You can lock it away in, & Harleys don't even have Helmet locks on the Bike at all, but I lock My Helmet on the end of My front axel with a padlock, You can also lock them on the spokes or the front brake disc if Your Bike has one on the Righthand side of the front wheel, so with the Helmets in the video, how do You lock them away? or do You have to carry them with You whereever You go, that's a bit impractial if You go out to a Restaurant or a Movie theater or a Concert at night isn't it? so Yes You showed some very good Helmets & gave lots of good information about each one but I think that the Manufactures of these Helmets need to look at also incorporating the D-rings or O-rings onto the straps as well, even if They still want to keep the ratchet system in place as well so that the Helmets can be locked onto the Riders Bikes, at the moment the only way I can see that these Helmets can be locked onto the Bikes is to use a small cable like the ones that They use for locking Bicycles up with, wrapped through & around the chin part of the Helmet a couple of times & locked onto the Bike with a padlock or a combination lock, but it could only be done with a Helmet with the face covering part on it, You could'nt do it with an open faced Helmet if it only had the ratchet locking system, what do You think? have I got a point there? or am I missing something?
Great detailed review of that lot! Lots of price fluctuations recently, I bought the Schuberth C5 (gloss white) last August for £410 (€479), it's now £509 (€594). SC2 comms was £246 (€287) and has gone up a little to £250 or £260 in most places. The Shoei Neotec 3 has always been £589 (€687) with the SRL-3 comms £295 (€344), so a fair bit more than the C5 setup here in the UK even with the C5 price hike!
As an Adventure Bike rider who does multi month long trips none of these helmets interest me for two reasons: First, Cardo is arguably a better system than Sena and I'm sure Sena pays the manufacturers to include their system in hopes of improving sales. I would eliminate any helmet with a Sena system integral to the build. Why spend top dollar on a helmet to get a second-rate coms system and no option of a choice for something better. Second, I love the Peak Visor on my modular helmet and these are all lacking. On a backroad adventure ride it is great to keep the sun off your face with a peak visor and these helmets all leave you with glare on the lens. I just completed an 8 month, 20,000 kilometer ride in South East Asia and both my Cardo system and Peak Visor were key features throughout my ride. Sadly few manufacturers make modular helmets with peak visors and I hope that the future brings us more models to chose from.
The issue with the Nolan opening system is that having to press the two buttons simultaneously, means that sooner or later one of the buttons will stop functioning.Whilst my wife loves her Nolan lid, sh'e on her third button replacement... Nolan has been using that system on their flip-up helmets for a while now and it's time they came up with something simpler and more reliable.
If I were to assume the HJC RPHA-91 has the same shield system as my i90Syrex then the shield is every bit as easy to remove/install as the Nolan. it takes 3 seconds to pop it off.
You forgot the BEST feature about reversible flipup helmets: you can use the visor which you cannot with a regular modular. Eye protection in open face position :)
unfortunately the Nolan N120-1 doesn't appear to be avail in the U.S.A. yet:( I have an older Nolan i love but wish i could upgrade to this new model...

Just picked up my HJC Rpha 91, and to be honest I wouldn’t waste the money. Loudest helmet I’ve ever owned, actually need to wear earplugs for every journey otherwise it’s unusable. Air vents are pretty good mind, but not worth the price tag.
To be honest I have 3 helmets but I always wear ear plugs anyway, which is a must, there is always wind noise to a greater or lesser degree. I cycle a lot as well and there is wind noise and that is at low speed, often leading me to think a car is behind me when there is not. If you don't want to finish up with Tinnitus use ear plugs and so long as you fit them properly, and many people don't, wind noise will not be a problem.
I've been using Neotec 2 for 2.5 years and recently test rode C5. Oh boy, what a difference in basically each and every aspect it was! So, most likely, my next helmet is going to be C5!
I just tried on both and the c5 felt very poor quality in comparison. They guy in the shop made a point that when you come off in the c5 just don’t land on your chin as the lift button is there. Few complaints in comments about visor becoming loose after a couple of months and needing an O ring bodged in to rectify
I had a Scorpion Exotech flip back and it used to jam when riding with the clear visor down then pulling the chin bar back into full face position, leaving a slit to see through and having then to emergency stop. It went back to Exotech service centre twice but they never corrected it so I got my money back. You would think on an issue of safety alone they would just have binned it and replaced, but no. Since then I have found they are made in China. I have a Nolan N100 5 now and have no trust in the full swing back type, however maybe the Nolan is reliable in the review here. In reality I could rarely ride with the chin bar right back at much over 30MPH due to dust etc flying under the visor and into my eyes. Flip ups are great for re fuelling and drinking without removing the helmet, which is all I really need.
60-61cm head measurement, always wearing headscarf or head band... would you recommend to use size XL or XXL for long term comforts reason.. in Asian Singapore.
Could you answer a question, are the visors for helmets all the same size eg if I buy an XS size helmet for my Mrs and a size XL in the same model helmet for myself, are the visors the same size? she always complains of getting wind in round the top of the visor on the the Hjc helmet she currently wears, thanks.
Wow, it's you! The star of the video. Typically visors will only have one size. In most cases, anyway. I've not yet seen a HJC helmet that doesn't have a one-size visor, so you should be alright! The same goes for Shoei. The Schuberth C5 does have two different sizes, to name an example.
Thanks for the review. I'm in the market as my C5 (2 years old) is absolute rubbish for the price. The visor vent fell off when I rode (for the first time) with the flip up. The visor doesn't seat properly anymore and the wind just shoots straight in. Very loud whistling noise that goes through to the SC2 comms to the group. Horrible quality and very noisy and very disappointed with Schuberth. Now it's a paperweight and the Sena SC2 is also a paperweight as I can't use it with any other helmet. So, that leaves me with Shoei Note 3 and HJC RPHA 91 for a replacement. Which would you recommend? I prefer quiet, comfortable and light as possible.

all good...but. Historically, most m/c helmets were good at impact protection, but lousy at wind noise protection at higher speeds. I now have bad tinnitus despite using foam ear buds. It's a crap disability caused by the excessive wind noise of helmets. You should hassle all m/c helmet providers to measure & reduce wind noise + give users the ability to know if the helmet can significantly reduce wind noise before they buy. Also when you give prices, include a separate price for visor replacement cost - they all get scratched and need replacing with use. Those are my 2 main gripes, the tinnitus being a major concern for all that ride m/cs at higher speeds. Keep up the good work.
Agreed, my only gripe with earlier (and more recent) helmets is wind noise. Shortly after buying my Schuberth C5 last year, I had some ACS Custom moulded ear plugs made, not cheap but do the job very well, and should last a good 10 years. Used some universal plugs before (Ear Dial) which are fine if you don't catch them while donning your helmet, otherwise the right one in particular for me moved out of place, so you have to start again! The Ear Dial and ACS ones have filters in, so you can hear all frequencies, but 27dB attenuation which is ideal for music and comms.
Most of the noise is caused by the bike and screen. The smaller the screen the better, unless you have a huge wind sail to sit behind. Get your head as far above the screen as you can and you'll be sitting in clean air.
@@Simon-fm8yc Yep, I noticed that when standing up on my bike a couple of months back! Bought a Puig touring screen (light smoke), and it's a little better than the original Triumph Tiger 800 screen, but the tint is distracting so going to cut it right down and see if it's any better. Will more than likely make for a cold face in winter (so swap back to OEM screen), but beneficial in summer...
@@PhatSimey I cut the original screen on my old Multistrada as low as possible, just protected the satnav from rain. Totally transformed the riding experience as it was unrideable with the original screen. Good luck.

Shoei Personal Fitting is currently only available in a select few countries. The Netherlands is currently one of the only countries to have Personal Fitting at a large number of Shoei dealerships. Our shops are, of course, included among these dealerships.
I have the LS 2 Advant X and have the Cardo Edge headset installed. Works great as the inside is set up for a special Cardo headset but since I already had the Edge I used it. Love it!
Good video, itd be nice if you put them on and review the chin curtains please, and talk about how sealed in you are. Lots of chin curtains on flip ups are crap. I'd also like to see how thin / thick the protection is on the chin bar, to see if they are robust, some past hjc's are laughable and you have to treat them as open face helmets. Cheers
Watch out !!! The hole or placeholder in the motorcycle helmet may not be deep enough for speakers. For example, when installing the SENA 30K in the HJC i 100 helmet. The loudspeaker is approx. 2 mm above the cut-out, the edge causes unpleasant pain on the auricles. The padding is a joke and is even more bulky. So how do I get the hole deeper? If I cut out the plastic at the cut-out and push the polystyrene deeper, I lose the possibility of gluing the speaker there. Almost nothing sticks to polystyrene crumbs. Pouring out might be possible, but with what? Styrofoam doesn't like chemicals!
I want to return the item i purchased but the instructions are unclear. What packing slip are you referring to? "1. Circle the product to be returned on packing slip" "2. Tick the applicable box on the rear of the packing slip, stating if you want to return or exchange the product."

That's a bit of a tricky one. Everybody has their own take on this. But, our indication would be that all of the helmets in this line-up are (intermediate) oval except for the Nolan helmet, which is a rounder shape.
The AGV tourmodular is carbon fibre, ece 2206, is prepared for an integrated comma system and is very comfortable and light. I should know, I wore one on a 9,550 kms trip last summer. How far have you ridden in any of the helmets you displayed? I would wear the hjc for all the money in the world. Junk.
@@kevincraig8257 Hi. Not at all. Another thing that I liked is the integrated sun visor, particularly when riding east in the earlyish part of the morning when sunglasses aren’t enough to deal with the glare of the sun coming directly at me. I have an Indian pursuit so I also liked that the integrated comms system enabled me to easily use CarPlay
I am glad you did not include BMW System 7. That helmet has 5 years warranty, and first broke (the chin strap) just after 3 years. I got replacement and that second one broke also after 3 years. The opening mechanism (the line) broke and it is no opening anymore. So this helmet does not last more that 3 years. I would expect more for that money. I am going back to Schubert, which is super quiet to compare with BMW.
We can only include lids that we actually sell. Only BMW dealers are allowed to sell BMW helmets. Funny you should have this experience with BMW and not with Schuberth. They are both manufactured by Schuberth!
Thank you! We like Shark helmets very much, but the lack of ECE 22.06 certification, pricing vs. features and the overall fit have led to this line-up not including them. They pop up in many of our other videos though and I'm sure they will be included again in the future.
The C5 is great but a choker. It goes after my throat and adams apple. To bad no chin belt attachment further to the front is available. AGV changed their great Sportmudular for that reason. Schuberth just ignores people with adams apples.
Could you do a video, or have you done a video on, makes and models that offer at least 3 shell sizes or more? I wear an XS/small helmet and efforts in finding helmets that don't make me look like a bobble head are always a slog. Some websites don't even offer the number of shell sizes that a particular helmet comes in. I currently have a Bell Broozer which comes in 3 sizes and I really enjoy it other than the noise. It's almost time for a new lid though and your expertise would be greatly appreciated.
Just bought my second RPHA 90s Carbon, because most say the 90s is better than the 91, and better price, had Schubert c3 before and the quality was shit
@@FortaMotoTrue! I made that comment after the first helmet and watched for a few minutes after that and went to sleep. Thanks for making it as I'm shopping today for helmets.
Strange how you have ignored X-Lite helmets before, they are made by Nolan and have had the features you liked in the Nolan for a few years. One thing I don't like is a lot of the helmets are designed for sena comms which are pretty poor compared to Cardo whose comms work so much better with bikes built in media systems
Nolan and X-Lite are indeed both made by Nolan. In fact, as far as we know they will be discontinued under the X-Lite brand and any remaining/new models will be sold as Nolan helmets.
Well, I feel like there’s a lot info lacking. The C5 block button for example: how could you push it with a glove? Impossible! What about the visor positions, etc, etc…
That's why we said "let us know if you have any questions". What would you like to know about the visor positions? The block button can definitely be used with gloves. In fact, it's actually more comfortable to do so with gloves!
The one thing on all of these helmets with switches is that they most likely will never work if you are riding with gloves, which most people do.......Good luck switching those switches. LOL.
The Scorpion has a pretty crappy interior design; after a few washes, it will break due to the fact that some parts are attached with velcro to the material glued to the safety foam.
I wear glasses and I use the shade on my Nolan for direct sun (heading west in evening). It is so easy to deploy and retract vs dealing with a pair of prescription sunglasses or changing a visor. I wear a Medium, which is the largest size of the smallest shell, so that helps keep overall dimensions tidy.
@@GripEngineering that makes sense. I don't wear glasses so I didn't really think of the hassle it could be. They definitely have their place in that regard and maybe for a ride that will extend into the evening. I wear a small so 3 or more shell sizes is a must for me otherwise I look like a bobble head and would love options that don't have the sun shade to lower the profile further (that don't cost 500-1k dollars.
the shoei neotec 3 is TRASH! I just returned mine because it doesnt work with the 'plug and play' sena system AT ALL. It's crazy. you install the headset. lift the helmet up by its strap and all the trim starts popping off like dominoes. Theres an entire Reddit page about how awful the neotec 3 and matching sena system are miss designed.
Not a complaint we've heard from our customers, so far. Nor have we experienced it ourselves. Sorry to hear you're having issues, though. Best thing to do would be to reach out to your dealer. Shoei has a good aftersales department.
Yes, it does have those two things going for it: it’s very quiet and also lighter than some of the other modular helmets. Your visor doesn’t fall shut at below 50 mph?
The Bell SRT Modular is no longer available in the Netherlands, nor is it ECE 22.06 certified. I figure you were already aware of that, since you seem to know it all. Bugger off, silly person.
You advertise the 5 best modular helmets of 2024 , you did not say available in Europe. UA-cam is watched world wide , so you should have in your title that your review is based in Europe. And to tell me to bugger off was small bro!

Good luck.
No AGV? They have 2 models that usually rate well.
You mention you can custom fit the Shoei. Where can that be done, please?
I had the same question! I'd like to see what they suggest to make mine more comfortable.
If get from a shop some offer that service. JS U.K. firm do. Gotta pay shop prices though obvs. May be a service you could pay for at a shop if not from there 🤔
Shoei Personal Fitting is currently only available in a select few countries. The Netherlands is currently one of the only countries to have Personal Fitting at a large number of Shoei dealerships. Our shops are, of course, included among these dealerships.
Thailand also has shoei personal fitting
Cheers mate!, great video.
Thanks a lot, Chris! Hope to see you again next time. Ride safe!
How mach is one helmet priice
How mach is price of one helmet
How are these helmets this heavy? I have a C3 pro, it's 1570gr...
Where's the LS2 Advant X Carbon? Also that can have a cardo system!
Dealer
I have the LS 2 Advant X and have the Cardo Edge headset installed. Works great as the inside is set up for a special Cardo headset but since I already had the Edge I used it. Love it!
@@susierebelryder492 Got mine last month, loving it!!!!
Have you heard of the Vata 7? They will be coming out with a modular version this summer.
"1. Circle the product to be returned on packing slip"
"2. Tick the applicable box on the rear of the packing slip, stating if you want to return or exchange the product."
If you misplaced your packing slip, or if you didn't receive one, then you can contact our customer service for further instructions. You can reach them by phone or by e-mail. www.fortamoto.com/contact
I want to order that helmet boss, how much
What about commenting on head shape, oval, medium oval, long oval ???
That's a bit of a tricky one. Everybody has their own take on this. But, our indication would be that all of the helmets in this line-up are (intermediate) oval except for the Nolan helmet, which is a rounder shape.
The AGV tourmodular is carbon fibre, ece 2206, is prepared for an integrated comma system and is very comfortable and light. I should know, I wore one on a 9,550 kms trip last summer. How far have you ridden in any of the helmets you displayed? I would wear the hjc for all the money in the world. Junk.
didnt you find the AGV a bit noisy I have one also
@@kevincraig8257 Hi.
TNKS. A. SUPER. AWESOME. REVIEW.
Thanks a lot! See you next time.
Ls2 Advant x, best out the lot!! Why no review?
Good job but what about SHARK ?
The rpha91 is not ece in the us. It’s a different foam
Why would you want an ECE helmet in the US? You'll need a DOT helmet for those roads.
why is Sena the only built in option? crazy...
It isn't. You can install any universal intercom system, if you like.
I'm reading a lot of complaints about the HJC RPHA-91 tho.. for that price is kinda sketchy
Shark EVO one 2!
The shark I bought 8 years ago flipped all the way back out of the way
please make a video on smart helmet...if possible...
The AGV tour-modular should be in that bunch. I cannot speak any higher of the fit and finish.
Surprised the Bell SRT didn't make the cut
How do you like it? Bell seems to be the only brand that fits me properly. I’ve tried on many others, and they hurt my head or face.
It’s a bit cheap and cheerful. Most of these are better quality
Which one is the best.
Were is LA2 Advent
It featured in our video from 2023, but didn't make the list this time around.
Since you don't ship to the U.S. who does?
We ship pretty much all of our products to the US. Our only real restriction is Shoei, sadly. That is out of our hands.
Just bought my second RPHA 90s Carbon, because most say the 90s is better than the 91, and better price, had Schubert c3 before and the quality was shit
Prices!!!!?????
Are you having a laugh, mate? Did you even watch the bloody thing?
@@FortaMotoTrue! I made that comment after the first helmet and watched for a few minutes after that and went to sleep. Thanks for making it as I'm shopping today for helmets.
@@mattcero1 glad you found them! Good to hear that the video was helpful :).
Go for schubert.
Shoei wins
It's tough to pick a definitive winner, but the Shoei Neotec 3 is one of a kind!
No Air vent on the back of the Scorpion?
Wtf?
Deal breaker?
I just bought an HJC RPHA 91. Coming from a Schuberth C3 Pro, I must say that this HJC is far superior in every way...
Nah, you missed the AGV.
It did make the list last year! Just not this time around.
If money wasn’t an issue here which helmet would most people buy of these. Me???schuberth ithink.
And the best of all is on the shelf behind……the C5 Carbon is the king on the market today.
Absolutely beautiful lid! We were sure to bring it forward during the presentation of the "regular" C5.
The one thing on all of these helmets with switches is that they most likely will never work if you are riding with gloves, which most people do.......Good luck switching those switches. LOL.
I don't know about Shubert. Sharp scores are always low. On all their models. Idiotic prices too. And their fit is not my cup of tea.
The Scorpion has a pretty crappy interior design; after a few washes, it will break due to the fact that some parts are attached with velcro to the material glued to the safety foam.
Please do one of these with full face helmets and NOT the cheap ones.. We're still some who wants the best of the bests like the new GT Air-3 etc.
Why do modular helmets have a sun visor? I personally don't like it.
I agree. I think a lower/thinner/smaller or whatever profile would be better than a sun shield and the room it requires to integrate.
🙌
Hjc v90...bubble
Speaking from experience: The RPHA 91 is a piece of junk. That helmet fell apart within weeks.
Damn that’s crazy
Mine seams to be holding up well and it's very very quiet
Yes, it does have those two things going for it: it’s very quiet and also lighter than some of the other modular helmets.
Your visor doesn’t fall shut at below 50 mph?
I like my RPHA 91 except, after 4 months, the lock mechanism hangs up and won’t open without wrestling with it. I wouldn’t buy it again…..
Yep, I had the same experience - after a short while I couldn’t open the lock mechanism without ripping my head off. Annoying.
Schuberth, best helmets in the world
A bit biased towards shoei
Not really. Credit is given where credit is due.
Cant hear a word he is saying
Sound turned off, perchance?
Take off your helmet 😂
Bell srt modular with mips system wasn't mentioned, so your obviously paid by these companies im out
The Bell SRT Modular is no longer available in the Netherlands, nor is it ECE 22.06 certified. I figure you were already aware of that, since you seem to know it all. Bugger off, silly person.
@@FortaMoto your so small

And to tell me to bugger off was small bro!
@@davechavis4275 There's nothing wrong with being small. If we recall correctly, you began this thread by suggesting we are paid by a specific company, which is not true. We offer worldwide shipping, so our video is aimed at a global audience. As for the Bell SRT Modular helmet, it was excluded not only because it's discontinued but also because we don't believe it ranks among the models featured in this video. Top 10? Sure. Top 5? No. We're glad you're still engaged, by the way. No hard feelings, but please refrain from making such claims in the future.

This people are crazy 🤣🤣🤣
500+?
Pass
Everybody who gets on a motorbike has to be a bit crazy. Otherwise it doesn't work! However, €500+ for a top class is not classed as expensive these days. Bikes are generally cheaper to buy and run than cars. But, if you require good gear with sufficient options - then you need to invest a little.
I don’t care for ratchet straps. Always getting loose.
