From what I've heard, the chef has to take a bite of each fish once done with cutting and serving in order to prove they've sliced the fish correctly and that it's harmless to eat for the guests, since it's your life that lie in their hands. Not sure if this is true, but I hope it is for me to not worrying of wanting to eat this later in my life.

Our business partner treated us fugu when we went to Oita two years ago. There is nothing poisonous as long as you don't include the poison glands in your dishes. The sashimi was amazing and my favorite part of the entire meal. The Japanese loved that fried puffer fish liver thing, which did give me some numbness on my tongue. I didn't particularly like it, but it was also tasty. The hot pot was great, the meat was like chicken. Oh, and if you ever want to try the liver thing, it is apparently only trustworthy if you eat it in restaurants in Oita, where the locals knew how to cook it without getting you poisoned. Do not try the liver thing outside of Oita.
Thank you for the information. I heard that the fish's ovaries are fermented with rice-bran in Ishikawa Prefecture for several years, about 4-7 years, to make it edible.
It's worth noting, the "poison glands" are all the organs. Fugu pufferfish do not make their own poison, they accumulate it from their diet, so it ends up in everything except their muscle tissue. This is partly why fugu poisoning cases vary in severity a lot, not every puffer has had the same diet. Also, you mean the ovaries. Three years of fermentation gets almost all of the poison out, and only certain parts of the Ishikawa prefecture are allowed to prepare it. The ovaries are tested for poison content before they're allowed to be sold. Liver seems to be banned entirely, as there is no safe means of preparation. Doesn't stop some people from ordering it anyway, with fairly predictable results. It's worth noting about half the actual poisonings from fugu are from the liver and ovaries each. The remainder is from the skin. I can't speak as to what proportion of the ovary poisonings are from the fermented Ishikawa dish, and what proportion are just some idiot cooking and eating them, though if the testing is as stringent as I've read it should be entirely the latter.

I eat pokė which is raw fish mixed with seasoning and little diced veggies, so I get how raw seafood is amazing..... I wonder how much better that raw seafood is than others?
Also, at 3:36, the chef’s knife skills are amazing.
Imagine you’re a fugu chef and a single drop of the fugu flies inside your mouth while you’re preparing it.
It's my biggest fantasy
these fish are too cute to eat them, i would pet him
Pufferfish are known to be very aggressive toward human you know? Especially the one that live in river
too delicious to not eat
I'd inflate them and throw them at people.
In America we call this a Big Mac
nah bro filet o fish
Pufferfish
Pretty sure Big Macs dont give you paralysis
@@Violetenist But they give heart attacks ;)

It's to die for...
I would appreciate to taste Fugu - it looks sooooo delicious. I would only eat it at an authentic Japanese restaurant though. I love Japanese people - gorgeous, classy, intelligent and very creative in their food preps. I'm going to Japan soon and will try Fugu.
As a japanese person i can say im not intelligent gorgeous classy or creative in my food prep. But thanks ill tell my mom you love her
I’m making this at home right now, I’ll let y’all know how it goes! 👌🏼
So how'd it go?
He is dead
Still alive OP?

Am I the only one who didn't see any more than 1% of "How to prepare deadly pufferfish" in this video. -,-
+shogrran i was hoping for details. and they gave a brief run over of it ...
Why would you guys want to learn this shit. ya'll disgust me
@jemimallah no i don't plan to. but i'm curious as to how it's done. i watch videos of people doing tiles on a floor. It doesn't mean I wanna tile my own floor.
Master We Need Your Skilled Hands Somebody Wants Fugu

And worse, he probably wouldn't bother to wash his hands, either. Think about that.

I only know Fugu after Homer was poisoned.
Chef: For God's sake don't eat another bite!
Homer: Oh I couldn't possibly.
Thank you for this tutorial video, I've cooked the fish for today's dinner.
"practically 0"
more like "puffer fish sushi won't likely kill you but it's never 0%
Where is his restaurant in Japan? might visit there sometime
Trustable Pal try Tokyo japan. I don't even know, I'm just guessing
4-35-2, Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo, 111-0032
Amazing how they slice those fishes so thinly. Respect!
Actually I think I'll have the chicken please.
Japan culture is so refined
I really like the part where they cutaway for the secret cut. Smooth. Like My Man's knife skills. Thanks for sharing.👍🏾👍🏾
3,000 fugu restaurants in Tokyo alone?! Ya-way!!!1
In the words of Homer Simpson... "Never heard of a poisonous pork chop!". Why risk your life when there is much better and infinitely safer food out there? As a chef I never understood peoples desire for the obscene rather than just a simple dish that is made well.
ratatatata ratatatata dont pee on the floor use the commodore laalalalalala
Narrator: the skin of the pufferfish is incredibly poisonous
Chef: touches fish all over without gloves
poisonous is different from venomous. You have to ingest poison in order for it to harm you. Touching it does nothing.
🥕🐡 Augh
How did they discover it's taste? Why didn't they just assume it's not edible after people dying from eating it?
idfk
Lmao top 10 questions that sciense can't still answer.
someone probably only ate a small non-poisonous part by luck, and from that deduced that only certain parts of the fish are actually poisonous.
@@perfectdeath5310 A whole Japanese community must have been eating this fish and only the people who ate the muscle flesh realise that they didn't die, especially if they were witness to others dying when eating the innards.
i'm not scared! Here, hold my beer homie
I'm just watching Mrs.Puff scenes in spongebob now I ended up here.
I heard that fish is to die for. It’s that damn good. I love fish! I can see myself trying to eat it for the first time. I’m holding on a slice of fugu with a chop stick. Sweating 😥 like a pig still on that one slice. Shaking and my heart is raising. Life is flashing before my 👀.
Finally! With these instructions i can make Fugu at home for my wife.
Thank you for a great tutorial, will try this at home
You dead?
You forgot to feed him a carrot till he goes eugh 🥕🐡👄👅
No
Yeah boi, don't forget to feed the carrots to them. Then only they will vibe happily in heaven.
Ocean: *We have lots of fish that edible and are NOT poisonous*
Japan: *Well hello there pufferfish*
Plot twist. Fugu isn't really toxic. It's just a clever marketing strategy.
Not sure this will ever come up in my lifetime but it's good to know I'll be prepared if I ever get the call.
If poisoned, you can expect to go through five stages before death:
The first is denial.
The second is anger.
After that comes fear.
Then bargaining.
And finally, acceptance.
h m
Its strange how the chef wore no gloves when preparing it!
Nature: Here, I'll make this fish here extremely poisonous and bland. There's no way anything would want to eat this creat-
Humans: LET'S EAT IT!
"Despite earthquakes, tsunamis, and nuclear disasters, he will not run out of work"
What about a gLoBaL pAnDeMiC
Now I really want to visit Japan to try fugu. The sashimi and the hot pot looks absolutely delicious
Let us know how it was from the afterlife
Imagine a fish evolved so hard with the feeling of "Leave me alone or I will kill you!"
And we are still trying to eat it even though so many other fish are tasty.
Fish: "Dude I am literally packed with poison, go eat a crab or something"
Japan's fishers in 1900s: "Mm yummy fishe"
€150 is about $185 as of 16APR2018. That's per person. This truly must be a special occasion.
No thanks. I'll eat something a bit less deadly.
don't be a coward...go to a master chef, the taste is unreal...
James Baird "In fact the taste of raw pufferfish is spectacular quite "BLAND""
FadingDarkMist RL no it isn't, it doesn't have the fishy ocean taste, it's very light and delicate...
James Baird 8ujk
dahri bigek the fuck r u tryin to say?
After watching this video, I feel adequately prepared in preparing and serving deadly pufferfish.
Thanks UA-cam.
2 days later he was dead
I'm not really into fish, or sushi.. But I've always loved the way they create their plates.. Very beautiful presentation.
5:05 how was that relevant at all 💀
😂😂
I’ll just stick to a different fish which won’t kill me thanks
where i'm from literally, in my country they eat lion fish, it's very popular here
100 bones a fish, lets go fishin.
thanks now i’m gonna try this at home
Man i always watch this after the school
not wearing any gloves or anything while cleaning that fish out. one small knick on his hand from the blade and that's it. pretty badass. i swear, if i ever went to japan i would just eat 24/7
nah it's not that lethal, you'd have to like deliberately put the poison in the wound for it to actually do that
"That fish is poisonous, I know, LET"S EAT IT!"
Fugu, the poisonous fish is also known for saying *Aeugh*
Just what i needed 👍 i caught one and now following your video for a catch and cook, ahh hopefully i don't mess this up...
I knew the Japanese ate puffer fish, But I didn’t expect the sheer amount of demand for pufferfish there. I thought it was like a rare thing that you may find on a menu from time to time. Not entire restaurants, full markets of them
