Best performance by a pissed person ever. Incidentally, Jarv wrote this song so pissed he couldn't remember doing it the next day. He applied the same method to recording it. The man's a genius. And a massively fit one at that.
I remember this performance when it was first broadcast. It stood out has one of the best performances I've seen on "Later with Jools". Absolute epic performance of an incredible song. Thanks for sharing
Pulp wrote the Bond theme for Tomorrow Never Dies but it didn't get chosen (the studio went with Sheryl Crow) and it ended up on This is Hardcore as a bonus track) as Tomorrow Never Lies.
Bands and artists seem to always bring their A game to Jools' stage. One of the most incredible live performances I've ever seen, just Mammoth. Jarvis puts other rock frontmen to shame.
There can only be one criticism of this song: the arrangement, in that it only includes the climactic chorus once. At 03:49 the songs explodes, and I want a repeat. Regardless, this is Pulp's masterpiece - dark as hell, and genuinely scary.
Strange piece. If I had been there during this performance, after I´d have looked around, looking like "WHAT do we do now?? WHERE do we go from here??" Rgr
This is the end of britpop the end of the 90s.with a dance jarvis finished it.just amazing this 💃Iv just paid 200 for original album I love it that much
actually, I love the sound of the live versions more than the studio version of "This is Hardcore" :) they're all amazing, though, and I find such groups with some differnce between their album songs and live gigs really great... it's a song that makes me shiver... art-porn impression :)
The world needs new Pulp album

JarvGirl! AMAZING!!!!! We love Jarv indeed! So does my dog! (Even when Jarv’s dog growled at him last year 🤣💖)
One of the best front men EVER
This was great when it first came out but their recent gigs have shown that this song is an absolute masterpiece.
Probably the most underrated song of the 90s. Hard to believe people were hyping Oasis back then.
Mark Ilsemann so ture man what a band pulp are I hope for more plz
Hyping Oasis and Blur.
I always hated Oasis. Too fucking trendy and whiny.
FKN LOVE THIS SONG.... Still remember the premier on mtv..... i was 13.... still love it and made my kids listen to it
Mark Ilsemann Oasis and blur made good music, pulp made art. I like all 3.
this is sublime, we need it in 1080p
Me too :(
This is hard-core is an outstanding album from start to finish should get the same plaudits as ok computer
Agreed.
One of the greatest song ever. I saw Pulp yesterday 07.08.2024 and the performance of this song was breathtaking
God yes, it was so damn amazing. Never mind the rain (it made it even better), the whole performance was amazing
omg yes I saw them in amsterdam it was amazing. This song live is just crazy and I don't think I will experience such joy ever again
Such powerful and imaginative lyrics. This Is Hardcore was a true evolution in Pulp's song writing and sound delivery. Amazing track. As per usual.
Yes it was the pinnacle, along with The Fear
Still listening to it in 2023. Fecking brilliant. Love Pulp.
How sublime is this track, what an album, what a performance!
Just amazing. I’m so pleased that this band managed to reach these heights. A rare moment in music
Jarvis is completely out of his skull here this is what the 90's was all about
It's what men in stained raincoats pay for.
Just great, c'mon Pulp, get back in the studio, we need you now more than ever 😷
That´s what men in stained raincoates pay for...always makes me smile and feel bad at the same time.
I remember this performance when it was first broadcast. It stood out has one of the best performances I've seen on "Later with Jools". Absolute epic performance of an incredible song. Thanks for sharing
Magnificent...no other words, but I miss them as a band.
How can someone be so high and drunk but still have one of the beat performances of his life
i dont think he's high, he always looks like that during this song😢
Different brains react to substances differently. That's my closest guess.
He's a professional, I doubt he was drunk or high
He was very clearly kunted
What a great performance.
I specially like the subtle guitar riffs in the middle of the song,
which weren't in the studio version
I don't get how that song doesn't has 23mio views yet.
Amazing work. No other words. One of my favorite groups of all time.
Une autre Dimension 🤩🤩🤩. Sublime 😇😇😇. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Pulp at its best.the end of britpop.but this is hardcore💋
20th time this week I've watched this
Amazing CD. Wore it out in ‘98.
One of the best performances on jools Holland ever
This song is amazing. Dark and real. Even for Jarvis it seems. I love the grit.
Luv this performance
How was this never in a James Bond soundtrack? Marvellous song
Pulp wrote the Bond theme for Tomorrow Never Dies but it didn't get chosen (the studio went with Sheryl Crow) and it ended up on This is Hardcore as a bonus track) as Tomorrow Never Lies.

Can't wait til August. Paredes de Coura 2011, Portugal

Sublime ! de la musique comme on n'en fait plus ...
Smashed and still manages to pull it off....
Great performance best thing they ever did
Bands and artists seem to always bring their A game to Jools' stage. One of the most incredible live performances I've ever seen, just Mammoth. Jarvis puts other rock frontmen to shame.
Canción y representación perfectas.
Phenomenal.
Pulp was the best band of the 90s.then Diana died Robbie sang angels then jarvis buried it with this song.goosebumps
jarvis knows how to pull it off live!
this song makes me feel like i'm in gotham city
So bloody Amazing!!!
Great performance: more than music, is theatre
SUCH A GREAT SONG
Class......
brilliant
Fantastic!

Most men can only climax once before needing a prolonged break.
@@jasonbrown6184good old refractory period.
That's why it works. If it happened more than once in the song it wouldn't have the same impact
Amazing masterpiece
A masterpiece.
Omg he's so artistic man, amazing
Priceless!!!
Great song, great band ...thanks
.
fantastic,real music
I ❤️💕👌🌟this song
Best Bond song that wasn't
I love this song and this performance but I feel bad looking back, knowing that at this point Jarvis was miserable and in his own words "a mess"
I’m in that place - oh this is hardcore
@@stannats2637 chay.
Unánimemente considerada una de las mejores perfomance en Later...
Jarv is the sexiest nerd alive
what a song
excelente...

❤❤❤wow
How did I manage to miss this Band back in the 90s ???
that goes in there and that goes in there and that goes in there and that goes in there and then it's over

1966!!! guauuuu.....
Y Gracias.
I thought that was Candida on the piano at first at the beginning then I saw her on the keys later and I was like 0.o
same
beautiful Jarvis!
What a Front man!!!!
Strange piece. If I had been there during this performance, after I´d have looked around, looking like "WHAT do we do now?? WHERE do we go from here??" Rgr
Richard Hawley on guitar and Anne Dudley ( Art of Noise etc) on piano. Probably imo best Pulp song ever. p.s. what exactly does Candida do....?!
He's the missing link between John Cusack and Dylan Moran
Epic.
This is the end of britpop the end of the 90s.with a dance jarvis finished it.just amazing this 💃Iv just paid 200 for original album I love it that much
this song is operatic in scale
Fuckin smashed there jarvis, hats off for pulling off a performance that good
Song 2 murdered Britpop. But this moment hit the nails on the coffin.
Wow
Truly the sexiest song EVER! I have decided I am going to create a burlesque dance around it BECAUSE I MUST!!! Beyond gorgeous!
clerly jarvis is wasted...but still looks amazing
4:20 ❤😭
Isn't Jarvis Cocker the guy that dances in Interpol's Evil?
Oh my god... He really looks depressed =/ Its so sad that this awesome song must come like this
Love this song! Btw I think Rilo Kiley ripped it off in their song Does He Love You (which I also love)
@MegaLkb Seeing them this time round? July 29th, Festival Hall, Melbourne!
He's rarely out of tune here. Great performance
Jarvis got stuck to the microphone stand !!
those who don't like this won't be my friends.
actually, I love the sound of the live versions more than the studio version of "This is Hardcore" :) they're all amazing, though, and I find such groups with some differnce between their album songs and live gigs really great... it's a song that makes me shiver... art-porn impression :)
3:46 - roughly my reaction at that point, every time.
Christ, where is a 1080p version? And why didn't they arrange the song to feature the chorus twice?
