There can only be one criticism of this song: the arrangement, in that it only includes the climactic chorus once. At 03:49 the songs explodes, and I want a repeat. Regardless, this is Pulp's masterpiece - dark as hell, and genuinely scary.

A grew up in the heat of the 90s era Oasis vs Blur. To me the other two are amazing but not a touch on Pulp/Jarvis. Even as a 13 year old when this was out and an 11 year old when Different Class came out I knew brilliance when it came.
actually, I love the sound of the live versions more than the studio version of "This is Hardcore" :) they're all amazing, though, and I find such groups with some differnce between their album songs and live gigs really great... it's a song that makes me shiver... art-porn impression :)
