Impressed by the frame rate! I have a normal thermal camera, like the handheld ones... and this beats it. While mine is already really well spec'd. Very nice! Although mine is use for hot parts on PCBs but still impressive!
So, $369, resolution 256 x 192, I used a similar one for a/c work, didn't have the handle or scope mount. Thermal uses different optics than a scope, or binoculars. 👍👍
I'm looking for a night vision camera to run safely across the lake before sunrise when bass fishing. This unit looks like it would work mounted to the boat windshield and connected to my phone in its console mount. If I have a wide view about half a mile forward this would be all I need.
Evening Gray, interesting gadget. My question...does the phone need to be connected to data or WiFi for the app to work or is it standalone...just download and go? Yes would be nice to have a an easier way to focus than big fingers turning a small lens..😂, but all said, I like that you hook up to phone, which we all carry, and don't have a separate operating device. 👍
Hey brother 👋 Yep no wifi needed it's a standalone app and that was my thought as well. I've even seen folks using this on tablets which had a bigger viewing window than your standard phone. I was very impressed with it especially the size and capabilities. 👍
I am retired now, but I took mine to my old work location, and inside some of the mechanical rooms I worked in, and you could easily and immediately look at the piping and see which pipes were hot and which were cold. He didn't demonstrate it, but it has a temperature setting so that you can see the temperature of whatever you are looking at in real time. I worked in the AC business, so that would have been really useful! I wish I had purchased it earlier. I do wish it had a little wider angle of view, and the resolution was better, but for what it is, I think it is a great deal, and affordable. I'm wondering if you can use a longer cable than what is supplied, so I could mount the camera outside the window of my car, and have the wire go to my phone inside? Would be really cool if you could do that! You can get dedicated car cameras, but they are expensive, and I already have this one. Fun to experiment with, though!
They have several iterations of this form factor on their site. I'm personally not familiar with them all. I pinned a link to their website that may help. Thank you for watching. 👍
In some of the video clips of homes, you can see the metal supports through the walls. Especially if it was a hot day. In a cold environment, I'm not sure. Maybe if the home is being heated and the metal is a higher temp than the drywall, it would contrast from the cooler drywall itself. 🤔
How accurate is the temperature reading. i'd like to see a comparrison between temperature readouts on the expensive thermal cam you have and this one. Usually if it's that small you can't really put a lot of technology inside it there has to be something that's lacking on the small little camera. If you have a Flir One pro it's at a similar price point maybe compare it to the Flir.
sweet video, you had me 90% sold with your footage. i have been wanting one of these for like 10 years, and it appears that they can finaly do everything i want, i want to look at circuit boards, fuse boxes, warm foot steps, people in the woods, birds in the trees, live stock in the fields, the outside and inside of our homes for hvac purposes, my wired for my solar pv system and battery bank/inveter and the until i ordered came with a gun mount. when you showed the jet going over head i was like yep, this may be what i am getting. i have a pretty good size drone. i may mount the camera and a small phone on it and remote into the phone to access the infrared camera and app, but that manual focus could prove to be a problem in this application. but i got to start some where. i had to dig a bit to find the android version but i found it and the discount code worked too, the camera kit i chose was $429.99, the discount code was for $42 off, so a tad under $400 plus tax, will be here tomorrow thanks again
About 5-7 years ago, Flir had a similar small camera for your phone. It was also about $350. Not quite as small. They discontinued it. I still have it, but it now only shows half the screen, and there is no support for it. Your little camera looks cool.
@GreyManPrepping Yes, however, right now, there is a black Friday deal on Amazon. The Flir 1 gen 3 is about $170. Pretty good deal. I don't know about picture quality or range or other features.
Depends on the purpose of use. For a SHTF situation it’s a waste of time the mobile screen will give your position away. For operational use you need to be able to spot targets at several miles.
I tested an IR unit for USAF fire rescue work back in the 70s. The imaging is amazing with the passage of some 50 years! I am curious as to how this might work in low visibility situations either driving a car or flying a small plane.
Great video! You mentioned the range, or distance it would detect, then used an airplane 2 miles away…. Is it safe to assume that this should detect an animal at 300,400,500 yards? Maybe a coyote, deer, elk?
Thank you, and yes, absolutely. Since this video, we have gone out and seen deer in the fields as well as rabbits in the glen when we went up to north Georgia.
Easily. The only limitation is the size of the object and if something is in front of it. For example its hard to use in the woods because the trees block everything and you cant really use it to walk towards something cause it has a fixed zoom of like x2.
I had that setting off while recording and had filmed already. So I just went with it instead of trying to start over. I had 4 days into this when I noticed it off. 🤦
@dongkapuyawn5107 I haven't tried it, so I can't be sure. In my opinion, I think it wouldn't as metal could hide heat unless the metal itself was emitting heat.
The problem is that the camera is dependent on an APP which will require updates over time. And what happens when the company discontinues the app because the company decides to go in a different direction.

Cool little external sensor/add on. Is the app able to function/ display sensor data offline? more and more affordable alternatives and price drops should be coming on existing. I can already see someone rigging a housing from an airsoft dummy nvg using this, a micro lcd display, and a raspberry pi etec w/ external battery pack. That'll be cool to see too.
Yes, I used it with an older no connected phone, as well as a tablet we had laying around to see how well the screen size made a difference. Funny you mentioned airsoft my buddy said the same thing 🤣 Technology just seems to get more and more interesting. Thanks for watching Joe 👍
Hi. Appreciate your review. I currently have iPhone 13 Promax with Lightnin connector but plan to upgrade to USB-C connector. Do you know if it is compatible for Lightnin and USB-C iPhone? Thanks
@DanOhPhotography Thank you! And to answer your question, yes, it is compatible with whichever connection you have. As the software itself is downloaded through the OS, your phone uses the connection point, which is whichever and doesn't affect the functionality of the camera.
Question: the new iphones use a USB-C connection, so should iPhone owners buy the Android version, and will the unit function ok or should we wait until an iPhone USB-C version of this device comes out?
@thephototour1615 So, from talking with other viewers in the comment section, most have bought the type C option and are using the Apple app and stated the product works just fine. By ordering through the Amazon link, if for some reason it doesn't work, you can get a refund back within 30 days if I recall correctly. But I'd double-check on the Amazon Store front.
I was ready to jump in BUT, last week, I upgraded my IPhone 12 to the 16, which uses a USB-C. So, wondering if the Android IR camera version with a USB-C receptacle would work on my iPhone 16?
From what others have said on this video, they are buying the Android package as it's a type C connection, and it works just fine as the only thing that changes is the app you download to your phone and the connection which for most new apple's are type C
how is the performance this model comparable to the one of a built in thermal camera like from the "Ulefone Armor 25T Pro" (~380€) or a similiar phone in this price range? i was thinking about getting one of these phones but the thermal imaging feature seems more like a party gag than actually useful, at least regarding the videos i watched. these external cameras seem to perform way better, unfortunately they cost as much as the whole phone..
I owned the Armor 25T pro. Personally, the quality of this exceeds the 25T from the frame rate to the resolution. Much cleaner picture, and there are way fewer glitches in transitioning from the different modes as well.
@@GreyManPrepping ok, thought so. I’m looking for flir to be used when driving in fog/darkness etc. for detecting animals on the road. So far found only devices costing USD 2-3000
You could mount the camera outside the vehicle, possibly to the top or bottom of the windshield in front of the driver. Then run a USB extension cable to the interior and plug into a phone or tablet. I use a snake camera with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 that sells for around $200 and suspect this would also work. You might need to find or fabricate a weather proof housing. The tablet might even work as a HUD with a semi-mirrored screen if the app allows image reversal. Good luck!
My pleasure, and they are out of stock again! The one I have is part of my kit now, and it is the older variation. They have since updated the product. Hopefully, they'll be back in stock soon. It's a very intuitive device and has come in handy multiple times.
If only they did a much higher resolution like 640x 480. That would make a real difference for DIY applications like finding what is behind a wall like wiring.
Maybe newer variations will increase the resolution values. This one was surprisingly good compared to several older and similar cameras out on the market.
Understandable, I looked around seems like the going prices for devices that are similar. I found one for about $275 but the reviews weren't great. Thank you for watching 😁👍

How has this camera worked out for you? Your Amazon link currently shows only 70% rating of 4 or 5 stars and lots of complaints about absolutely unresponsive service/support plus problems with the cable. I know how those reviews work (or don't) but the lack of vendor support is troublesome. Thoughts?
I personally use this camera a lot for various things, so there are no issues on my end with the product. Vendor support, to be honest, I'm not sure as I haven't needed to contact. I run into problems with any product. My first goto is youtube, lol. I agree with you in regards to reviews on Amazon as they should be taken with a grain of salt.
As far as the research I've done OTG support is available but some devices do have issues. I have not tried to livestream the video from my phone. Something I should look into it. I know I can cast to a smart TV but the resolution wasn't as good as I'd would like. I reached out to Infiray for more technical information on this micro infrared camera, outside of the paperwork that it came with. My apologies for not being able to give you all the information you were looking for.
@@GreyManPrepping Thank you. The pixel 7 pro does not have OTG support, not even an option for it after entering developer mode. There are some faked videos on YT that say it does have it but it doesn't. These devices that use video or audio from the phones USB port generally don't publish if they work with all Android phones past a certain OS release and returns are high. They just say it works with Android phones. It's disingenuous at best. I don't buy products that can't give me a clear answer and they do know if it works or not. They just want to make the sale. I want to buy this camera but if the reviewer doesn't even know if it works then it's a no!
@@jaysunkreuze1466 I truly understand that. I agree I'd hate for you to purchase something and it not work for you. I do appreciate you watching the video. I hope you eventually find something that works for you. Have a great evening. 😁👍
@kristijanmedved6066 very similar products, but I've never had or used the XH09, so I couldn't really give you my perspective. I'd look at both comparatively via their specs and reviews and make a call which you think may be the better option.
Most of the “Infrared/Thermal imaging” cameras that I’ve seen online that attach to cell phones only seem work with Android phones. Occasionally I’ll see one that mentions iPhones/ipads. Some reviews warn about sketchy apps and undesirable permissions so I’m still looking.
So, it looks very impressive. I however do not have even $400 for something like this. There are other, for me, more important areas the i am working on first. When/if those areas become less lacking, perhaps.

Do you think this would be a good camera to see if there are any called drafts coming in the house at winter?
Funny you mention this, I have used this to look at my HVAC for leaks as well as my AC vents trying to analyze the flow of cool air.
Looks like link to their US Amazon store is dead.
I orderd my monocular here www.infiray.com/
@@GreyManPrepping do you have a link to the exact one in your video? I’m not finding it, only the T2 Pro😅
@Josue-rd5gt They must have updated to the T2 it seems, but I did find it here. Walmart? Out of all places...

Cool! Watching from the PHILIPPINES.
Very cool! Thanks so much for watching 😁
WOW that little thing does wonders Grey 🙏❤️🙏
I was truly impressed 😁👍
@@GreyManPrepping yes Sir. Thankyou for sharing the find with the rest of us. 💜
Wow! That’s a cool camera…nice price too 😄
I feel the same Cbass 😁👍
Question: the new iphones use a USB-C connection, so should iPhone owners buy the Android version, and will the unit function ok or should we wait until an iPhone USB-C version of this device comes out?
@thephototour1615 So, from talking with other viewers in the comment section, most have bought the type C option and are using the Apple app and stated the product works just fine. By ordering through the Amazon link, if for some reason it doesn't work, you can get a refund back within 30 days if I recall correctly. But I'd double-check on the Amazon Store front.
my iphone 15 pro max, uses usb c, but the camera ios version uses lighting, can i use the andriod one, or does it have a different software?
@erickkang6385 I run a 16 pro max on my work phone, and the USB C works fine, as the software (App) is based on your app store
05:02 you can even record ufo by accident with this camera 😂
@konradm.374 Absolutely, lol 😆
Hey Brother, seems amazing for the money!
I agree my friend 😁👍
Amazing! But for the price I would rather put my money into a new RO water filtration system. It looks fantastic and I know my husband would love it.
I love my tabletop RO system. Definitely access to clean water is truly an essential must have 👍😁
how is the performance this model comparable to the one of a built in thermal camera like from the "Ulefone Armor 25T Pro" (~380€) or a similiar phone in this price range? i was thinking about getting one of these phones but the thermal imaging feature seems more like a party gag than actually useful, at least regarding the videos i watched.
these external cameras seem to perform way better, unfortunately they cost as much as the whole phone..
I owned the Armor 25T pro. Personally, the quality of this exceeds the 25T from the frame rate to the resolution. Much cleaner picture, and there are way fewer glitches in transitioning from the different modes as well.
Did you have the window down when filming from your car?
Yes, I did being that glass is a poor conductor of heat and does not emit any significant amount of infrared radiation for the camera to pick up.
@@GreyManPrepping ok, thought so. I’m looking for flir to be used when driving in fog/darkness etc. for detecting animals on the road. So far found only devices costing USD 2-3000
NV2 from xinfrared is around $600. No experience with it, just saw it when ordering one of these.
Good luck!
Can this be used in the daytime?
Yes, I used it during the day as well.
Which one would I need to order for the iPhone 16? Since it's now USB-C, do I need to order the T2 Pro Android version?
You would pick up the usb-c variation. The only difference between the 2 at that point is where you get the app play store/iPhone app store
Thanks for the great review! I'm trying to find one online but they all appear to be sold out. Would you be selling yours by any chance?
My pleasure, and they are out of stock again! The one I have is part of my kit now, and it is the older variation. They have since updated the product. Hopefully, they'll be back in stock soon. It's a very intuitive device and has come in handy multiple times.
If only they did a much higher resolution like 640x 480. That would make a real difference for DIY applications like finding what is behind a wall like wiring.
Maybe newer variations will increase the resolution values. This one was surprisingly good compared to several older and similar cameras out on the market.
I've been looking for something like this, as I plan to cruise the UK and EU canals, and will use this to cruise at night.
@@captain.eddy333 Sounds like a great adventure! Stay safe 😁👍
That seems pretty awesome but for some reason I thought it would be a lot cheaper and I just can’t afford it right now
Understandable, I looked around seems like the going prices for devices that are similar. I found one for about $275 but the reviews weren't great. Thank you for watching 😁👍
Cool for sure. But do not buy before you have all other preps stacked up. Thank you for sharing this great gadget.
Very true!
This looks very interesting, especially for the price. I am unclear on the battery/battery life. Any experience as to runtime?
The camera itself plugs into whichever phone you are using. So your phone is essentially your battery.
Thank you. Just ordered one.
I hope you enjoy it as I do mine. 🤞
Really impressive 💯👏
Thank you!

Can I Livestream the video and does this require OTG support. I have a Google Pixel 7 pro which does not have OTG support.
How does it compare to xh09
@kristijanmedved6066 very similar products, but I've never had or used the XH09, so I couldn't really give you my perspective. I'd look at both comparatively via their specs and reviews and make a call which you think may be the better option.
I would love to see the rifle adaptor. Thank you!
I'll see if I can purchase one and do a follow-up down the road 😁👍
will it show a hot short on a pcb?
@chol5808 Technically, that's what its main purpose is. It's was designed for PCB work. I just found other applications for it to fit my use, lol 😆
That's really interesting
It is very nifty little thing 😁
Is the app free on iPhone? For this little camera to work properly.
@greggieboy393 Yes, the app is free unless something has changed from the creation date of this video.
That's amazing I've got to get one or two of these.
Agreed brother, I was truly shocked how we'll it performed 😎👍
WOW! You find the coolest gadgets! They work with android? ❤️✝️
🤣 I get lucky sometime and yes I'm using it with my Android phone
@@GreyManPrepping I really like the night vision! Oh man!
@@rakamas This will definitely come in handy in multiple situations 😎
Most of the “Infrared/Thermal imaging” cameras that I’ve seen online that attach to cell phones only seem work with Android phones. Occasionally I’ll see one that mentions iPhones/ipads. Some reviews warn about sketchy apps and undesirable permissions so I’m still looking.
So, it looks very impressive. I however do not have even $400 for something like this. There are other, for me, more important areas the i am working on first. When/if those areas become less lacking, perhaps.
Food, water etc. first before the the cool gadgets 🤘
@@GreyManPrepping yup 😥
Will this work with no service?
@everythingloud4068 The phone that I use it with has no service. You do need a way to download the app, like your home or public wifi.
@GreyManPrepping ok, I just wanted to make sure it would work up in the mountains before I purchased it
@everythingloud4068 Understandable, Yeah, I have used the two I have on phones that have no service and kind of dedicated them to running these devices. One phone is about 5 years old. So far, there are no issues on my end. Have a great day! 😁👍
Current is heat. If you put a circuit under a decent current draw, bet you could trace circuits inside your walls..ele wire.
That's an interesting idea, I've never thought of using it that way. 🤔
Great video, they are a help for the repair, I am very happy with my Mileey camera, in
Great to hear! And thank you. 😁👍
This could help me on my property.
It truly has a lot of different uses that would come in handy 😁👍
1/2 WAY THROUGH AND I WANT TWO ALREADY!!

What permissions does the android app need> is it overly intrusive?
@jay_b.. Camera storage as it stores the footage on your phone.
Looks like a good option for drone spotting
