I remember being terrified of that Dagobah boss and the giant Wampa. The bosses in these games were a marathon. They took FOREVER to kill. Was also bullshit that random ass enemies could follow you into the boss fight and would still spawn AFTER the boss was dead, meaning you could very likely beat the boss by the the skin of your teeth then die to some laser cannon on the ceiling or some normal enemy that spawned on the screen in the short little distance between the boss dying and the stage ending.

Been watching a few of the vids on this channel, and while they're entertaining, I get the impression there's just a wee bit of 'performance enhancement' going on.
I beat this game one time after weeks of grinding and then could never beat it again. I can still remember the sense of accomplishment and relief I felt when defeating Vader some 30 years later. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

@Evan Cruz Hard like: You have to go to a platform to proceed. The platform will fall quickly into spikes and you'll be burned twice and you still have to destroy a turret with only and small weak spot while you are standing on a conveyor belt that's willing to send straight to spike hell. I am no Shigeru Miyamoto, but sounds like crappy game design.
I remember my dad getting this game for me from blockbuster. It was very difficult but whenever I got sick I was able to play more. I finally beat after a few months!
The game isn’t canon since this game is an adaptation of Empire Strikes Back. Star Wars originated as movies and the movies + any TV shows followed by The Clone Wars are the source material for Star Wars.
It was a fun game at the time. I will say that the levels were harder than the bosses as there was more randomness and swarming by the standard baddies.

The Probe Droids were always my favorite bosses. I remember around 2000 when I used to rent the game, I would always enter the password for that stage first. The Habogad (Dagobah monster) is a HUGE pain on any difficulty unless you have the Plasma gun.

This game is almost the equal opposite of Zelda 2 for NES: as much frustrating and unfair (though here the difficulty is actually high), but people only saw the good aspects (graphics, audio quality, gameplay variety etc.) and just dismissed what would have made this game a 7, 7.5 at best instead of an undeserved 8.5-9 people describe it as (BS sudden attacks by hidden enemies, unnecessarily long and repetitive sequences of stages, undying bosses at anything but Easy mode etc.) So, game is kinda good, good if you want, but far from very good...
Zelda 2 was loved when it came out. Difference is that we had an absolute classic predecessor to compare it to, so it didn't get by as unscathed as this game did (which had a well reviewed predecessor, but one that wasn't as nearly highly regarded as LoZ and was not as much different from this game as LoZ2 was from LoZ1)

This game was hard as balls but gave us the first iteration of a decent Hoth snowspeeder level. I did eventually beat it, but I remember the last stage & Vader being pretty tough.
These Super Star Wars games are based on the first original golden trilogy and best movies. I liked them because most of the games of Star Wars tend to be spin off games not based on episodes 1-9. These Super Star Wars trilogy games are classics.

I love how this game is exceptionally challenging for most of its playthrough, and then an AT-AT shows up where you win by doing absolutely nothing.
Definitely the "Breather Boss" of the game.

I think he appears briefly in the previous stage two or three times. You hit him a couple of times, then he runs off.
