I will never forget Mellisa Ethridge..My girlfriend took me to the Omni in Atlanta, that's where I used to lives years ago,but I wasn't a fan, still not,but when I saw her in concert she played some radio hits, and she commented in between before she played her old stuff, the guitarist she had up there was definitely Jimi Hendrix influenced, the whole band was INCREDIBLE!!😲 He did a solo out of this world, at the time I was forming a band and trying to join one just to get things started,I should have moved to L.A.,but to make a long story short, she made a comment that I will never forget,She never played coffee shops..but her fans insisted, she was a very amazing person..🥰
Awesome! 1986 I was fascinated with the Indigo Girls and bought " Cerridwen" my first Martin guitar, and my first good quality guitar, 1988 I saw Melissa Etheridge live at the Nebraska state fair and even got to talk to her. I was just blown away with her music and her Guitar! The next day I was supposed to take my VW Beetle to the shop for a new starter, but went to the Guitar store and bought "Helene" my Ovation Adamas 1598-MERB.. the same 12 string Melissa played! It took my playing to a whole new level, and gave me great calves has I had to push my VW to a speed I could hop in and pop the clutch to start it for a few months before I could afford a starter! Then 1990 and ANi Defranco turned me on to Alvarez! I still love all those guitars! I haven't played Helene in awhile, but this has me inspired to give her some love today, some new strings and rocking some Melissa Ethridge! It was my guitar teacher in junior high that taught me the tradition and reason for naming your guitars, he said it improves your playing, and it does, because your have a closer relationship with the guitar! He also was the one who drilled technique into us, with all sorts of drills and exercises, one being to staccato strumming to easy hand and finger pain as well as build muscle memory, callouses and style while we learned our chords and honed our rhythm! Which when I started playing Melissa Etheridge songs like this one and Ani Defranco Both Hands I was so grateful for all that early taining and practice! Keep going with the great videos, the world is better with more guitarist in it!
Well, it's Saturday night and it's been raining the whole day, what a way to relax but with my guitar and the guitar " Prof" Thank you Lauren you are slowly becoming part of our lives here in this household.😁😁 Please be safe. Love and blessings from Kruger Park in South Africa.🤗🤗🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Good lesson. Played along just for fun. 200,000 subscribers in site. You are the best for the those who want to learn with a logical simple method that makes learning fun. Your success has been meteorite.
Once again, you had my full attention 🙌. I consider myself "intermediate lite" and love how you show enough detail for those of differing skill sets to understand. Also, I struggle with palm muting and REALLY appreciated that alternative you showed! Thank you for another EXCELLENT lesson! 😍
Dear Lauren you are indeed a great guitar tutor. I came across your videos on youtube and they were really informative for me as an absolute guitar beginner. I also visited your site and the testimonies and contents on your website are amazing and I am really inspired to pick up my guitar and continue practicing with your free videos on youtube. I wanted to purchase your online courses but unfortunately it's very expensive for me because I am only a student studying in a university in Nigeria, West africa. God bless you for the amazing contents you drop on youtube. May be somedays, when I have enough money I would be able to purchase your educative online courses.
Hey Lauren, great lesson. I was wondering if you could do a lesson on a Secret Sisters song. The song is called Hold You Dear. It’s a piano song but wondered if it could be transcribed to guitar. Ever played in Ireland?
Awesome song and another great lessson!! Saw her open for little feet years ago at jones beach.. before she was famous..no one knew who she was.. but after that show we definenately knew!! BTW did u ever see her and dolly Parton on crossroads? It is absolutely amazing! Thanks again Lauren!
I have a hunch that ME does most of the lead guitar parts if not all of the lead parts....no? Check out ME TV. She is very impressive. Check out ME Island in Cancun this year.
Not for her earlier albums. I don't think she really started getting into league guitar and pedals and such until much later in her career. If you go see her play live now, she absolutely plays the lead parts. She did a solo tour a few years ago where it was just her and a loop pedal.
I use to love your teaching. But now you explain every detail and cause things to be confusing killing the song. Once people get on track they can catch up. Look back how you taught in the very beginning. People don't need all the detail. There ear will pick up once there on track. Js..
Wade this is a more intermediate song. My beginner lessons are kept simpler. This is one of my favorite lessons with a lot to teach. When things get more intermediate like this, you need the details.

Thank you, for the recommendation. I get lots of song requests so I cannot guarantee that I will get to it, but I will definitely add it to my list.

I have not seen her and Dolly
Yup. Trains a‘comin’

I want to join your fan club😊
Yes!!!!
Lauren love your videos! Wondering if you can teach us 'That'll be the Day' by Buddy Holly? Thanks!
I did I did a lesson on that one already. Search my name plus the dog title. If I did, it should come up!
I’m learning in a Spanish guitar, do you pick the same 3 and 5 as you quickly hit the cord?
Same chords
I’m new to your channel. Was wondering why you play that guitar over the Taylor I saw in a video?
Because I love my Crafter. ☺️
@@LaurenBateman Awesome!

You have to hammer on fast enough to take advantage of the vibration already on the string….at least that’s how my small brain interprets that.
