Possibly my most fave song and Artist in the World.
I saw Dimash performing this song live at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. This was Dimash first solo concert in the United States. Words cannot describe the experience of watching this gifted singer; you'll have to experience for yourself. Dimash is in my honest opinion, the Greatest Singer of our time. I'm afraid that there will never be another one like him ever.

I have to admit at this point that I usually listen to other genres of music. I grew up in the 80s and have listened to a lot of rock, some metal and 80s pop since then. Dimash has managed to kick me in the butt, mainly with this song, in such a sustainable and at the same time charming way that I was catapulted out of my previous music consumption bubble. Dimash has taught me to listen to music in a new way. He makes me love things that I don't normally like. Of course, this is mainly due to his voice, which captivates me over and over again.

SOS was the first time I heard Dimash and the beauty of the song and his rendition of it was so brilliant my eyes welled up and a tear or two ran down these 72 year old cheeks. Now my Mum was a professional singer so I was familiar with opera and true vocalists, but this young man’s instrument is so marvelously controlled and his range is so vast…….just incredible, and incredibly talented!!!

Sei que existem outros grandes cantores técnicos, mas Dimash está muito à frente de qualquer outro na História da Música, é uma pena que ele seja menos conhecido que vários cantores medíocres que vemos por aí. Numa lista de 100 melhores vocalistas de todos os tempos, feita por supostos especialistas em música, o grande Dimash não está presente infelizmente. Há uma certa rejeição por ele não se vender por dinheiro para a grande mídia da música.

This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer in China).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
A few months after 'Singer 2017' and starting his world career as a megastar, Dimash sang this song here, as the guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the 'Slavic Bazaar 2018' competition.

That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

There is a lot to Dimash. A super emotive singer in any genre and a really decent human being at the same time. Doesn’t hurt that he has the voice and appearance of an angel, but a peaceful and caring person too. Glad you “got it” this time. As the greatest vocal artist in the world, he draws a cadre of haters, and Dears are very protective of him and his reputation. ( One reactor recently altered his voice and then blasted out that Dimash was out of tune!) I get that in the USA we are used to fake stuff from our stars. This piece was from a French rock opera. And it is emotional. It starts out "Why do I live, why do I die. I am a human in distress SOS". It's about a person questioning his existence in life & how he wishes he had a better view of the world. What I like about Dimash's choices in the music he sings is, it has to convey a message. And he feels the music he sings. His music videos are like mini movies. One Sky is a masterpiece in videography, messaging to music. I believe it's 15min long. His most recent one is "When I've Got You" is more a tribute to Michael Jackson & a nod to some of the horror genres of the '80s & '90s. Dimash is a big fan of MJ. The next one I enjoyed listening to was "Olympico". Fabulous.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your first video. Dimash's fans are not your typical "groupies". We are at millions strong (someone help on this because I don't remember the last count) and range in age from Teenagers to women in their mid 90's. Dears travel from one country to another to make sure his seats are always sold out at his concerts. Another thing is that he is a very humble and graceful young man and is recognized by everyone from the Pope (who Dimash has met with and sat down to talk to) to Presidents, to other world leaders. With all of these things in mind. Dears are VERY protective of Dimash and his honor, so you must always be mindful of that.

He’s been trained since he was 5. He continued to develop his adolescent voice as he went through puberty. He continued to practice the high notes that boys choirs use and can move in and out of octaves with ease. He’s trained in opera as well. So probably there is no one in the US who can equal his training. I’ve listened to him for almost 7 years and I’ve not heard anyone like him. You need to hear more of his songs to make an evaluation. Try listening to his songs on The Singer 2017. This to me is his best version of SOS. But on the Singer he does All By Myself, Queens The Show Must Go On and many others. You’ll find more on the Tube.
Sos I'm singer 2017 is not the best version but just your favorite version..Doesn't exist the best version but exist the favorite version,and with Dimash we are very lucky because he has many different versions of the songs that are good for every taste of every person. No in my opinion the version reacted to here is his best. But I encouraged the reactor to check out The Singer 2017. This was his first appearance on the Tube. Stranger, Olympico, Love of Tired Swans all came later after Igor Krutoy took Dimash under his wing.

One month to be exact and the ‘stuff’ I’m interested in is quite diverse and becoming moreso every day since starting this channel. I must say, SOME of Dimash’s “Dears” are closed minded, judgemental snobs. Nothing what I feel Dimash himself exudes. I have enjoyed more than 25 videos of different performances of Dimash singing this song always live. I would NOT want to start a debate, but it is natural that all Dears tend to compare any version of "SOS de un terrien en détresse" with Dimash. That's inevitable, this song is the one that opened the doors to Dimash's magical world to the majority of his hard-core followers, his Dears. It goes without saying that no matter how good, emotional o perfectly well french pronuncited the previous or subsequent versions are since its premiere at Starmania (above all the versions by Daniel Belavione and Gregory Lemarchal), the song acquired a much superior connotation in Dimash's style and unique voice. This song belongs to Dimash, no matter how many people sing it, no one can take it away from him. When Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon composed it, they did not imagine that 18 years later its true owner would be born in Kazakhstan.
I introduced my mother to Dimash fairly recently, starting with this performance, which she loved. The second one I sent her was Stranger, which she did not like. She wasn't able to get past the darker imagery and sound. It takes time to warm up to an artist sometimes, even one as talented as Dimash. I think some fans can be a little too defensive of him and a bit too hard on those who don't instantly fall in love on the first listen 😂😂😂 Please don't take it to heart, and please keep listening to Dimash. Don't let anyone put you off by their negative comments, and don't be put off by the songs you may react to in the beginning that aren't in a style you like. There will be something you hear that gets you inside, and he will draw you into his world if you want to go there. It's worth it I promise.
The thing with Dimash is he has songs for every genre (except country and western, but I expect he'll get to that eventually 😂). If one of them doesn't suit you it doesn't matter, because another one is likely to steal your heart. I grew up on rock and pop and I get bored with old fashioned love songs (he did quite a few of those with composer Igor Krutoy before they moved on to other things). And I don't like anything jazzy. I prefer his rock, dance, pop, R&B, 'vocalise' songs and Kazakh folk songs. He does all of them, and every one is different, every one is surprising. He plays not only with our hearts but also our minds. Many of his songs make you think deeply. They stop you in your tracks. Leave you speechless sometimes. And when you listen to the music carefully you come to realise that he dips in and out of different decades and different musical styles very frequently, sometimes even in the same song. He is a fabulous composer. He's thoughtful, deep, poetic, and outstandingly well educated. Everything he creates takes you on a journey.

Well you are about my age or generation, you would probably like Dimash’s newest music video, “When I’ve Got You,” it is a bluesy, Jazzy, Gospel, classical all mixed together, kind of David Bowie, Michael Jackson, and
Meat Loaf type, but better, parts even remind me of Freddy Mercury.
Which I like all of them, but Dimash is better and I can’t deny that at all.
I’m a lover of classic rock, and some 80’s and 90’s groups.
But Dimash seems to feel each song and brings emotions that are tangible and touches our hearts!

my favorite singer is Avi Kaplan. Dimash shocks, stuns and amazes me, while
Avi sooths my spirit not only with his voice but with his writing.
Dimash rarely does that.

It isn't like you're the first person ever to mention possible autotuning. It just isn't the case with Dimash in that way, but how were you to have known that in advance?
Versions of songs are interesting with Dimash. This version of SOS appears to be the most popular, but it's not my favorite, maybe just because I saw the "I am a singer" 2017 version first. It's not like this version is bad; in fact, as my years as a Dimash Dear have gone by, I've found myself liking it more and more, maybe as much as, or even more than, that first version I saw. Something you said about tearing up, though, makes me think you'd enjoy one specific part of the "I am a singer" 2017 version as much as I do, and that is the moment when the camera pans out into the audience and rests for a moment on a man sitting there crying. (It's right after the verse toward the end of the song, when Dimash asks [in French], "Why do I laugh? Why do I cry?") Yes, the feelings Dimash engenders with his voice are palpable, whether he's singing in Kazakh, English, Mandarin or Martian. He really does illustrate, more clearly than I've ever seen anyone else do it, that old adage about music being the language of the universe. People *everywhere* are affected, all the same. The man is simply magical, whether you like this version, that version, or that other one over there.

You are slowly becoming Dimashed. Some fans fall under his spell immediately and others take a while. I guarantee the more you watch Dimash the more you will realize just how amazing he is. I would encourage you to watch "Olympico" (live) next as you will experience 95% of his full range in a song written just for him. If you want to experience opera watch"Ti Amo Cosi" (live). If you would like a taste of his concert production skills watch "El Amor En Ti" (live). If you would like to see his visionary skills as a producer watch "The Story of One Sky". (With tissue). If you want to see him become the song watch "Ikanaide" (Japanese). And if you want to skip ahead by about 74 performances then watch his latest and greatest "When I've got You." I think afterward you will realize he really is the greatest singer alive today and he is an alien.
Try Ikanaide it is in Japanese look for one with English subtitles. You may need to use a filter over most of his stuff live. Blur it for the audience or the stream could get blocked. Even on upload you may need to filter. Some put lettering over it saying things like for copyright reasons.

Always put on CC/Lyrics when Dimash is singing. Because he can sing in like 16 different languages. But he doesn't speak 16 languages. He is learning the songs phonetically. He speaks English, Russian, native Kasakh and a bit Chinese mandarin., 👍🇳🇴🐣🐥🐣

If you have the time, please check out The Story Of One Sky. It is his masterpiece. Do the live version from his Almaty Concert, Part 3(check from minute 25, I think). It will shows you his skills a lot more while still appreciate the song's message. The official video is a little bit heavy emotionally so you can do it later if you want to understand the story in the song in clear context.

The one thing I’m not loving about the Dimash phenomenon is the rabid fans who can’t tolerate the slightest hint of criticism. It’s too bad, because HE seems like a truly nice person. I love his music but i quit reading comments to reactions a long time ago.

The Dimash cult is something you must be very careful of and aware of...it is VERY REAL.
That being said, I have listened to him since the very beginning and he is a dream to listen to. Glad you enjoyed his singing.
My suggestion is to NOT do too many songs by Dimash...eventhough it is tempting...you'll simply be "feeding the beast" (if you catch my drift).
A few times a year to keep them wanting...but never too much or you'll regret it. Take it from someone who has watched hundreds of reactors. Be very VERY cautious by doing too many.

Many Dears> totally loyal to DIMASH do not think that many people are used to different singers with no where near the talent of DIMASH; and they are not as familiar with DIMASH as the Dears are. That coupled with the language differences; many misunderstand what is said and take it wrong. Most mean well but are defensive of DIMASH. just continue reacting and they will come around soon to see you mean well. DIMASH is a fantastic cure for whatever ails you in life, the more you know him the more you will feel him and then you will understand what i am saying. Therapists use his music to help individuals with emotional problems to better cope with their lives. We are all better people just knowing such a person as he is. He not only entertains he teaches as well.
I can only agree. My husband heard that his voice is fantastic, but didn’t hear the shadows and nuances so he couldn’t full understand my hysterical shouting to him: You have to hear this, you have to hear this, when I heard the first phrase of SOS the Singer 😂

I am schooled since my childhood to listen and appreciate classical singing with epic singers, so for me this pure clear voice was unbelievable - I couldn’t believe that a male singer could sing this way. After the first notes I thought - what a beautiful countertenor - then after the deep tone I was shocked and thought - what digital trick did they made and has to realize - it’s him, it’s no trick.
So as my husband realized how I reacted to Dimashes voice he tried to understand and heard over and over SOS. Now after his „ear training“ after a few weeks he now „hear“ it. Not everything but enough to really appreciate and admire Dimash. A reactor mentioned to hear the full voice and abilities of Dimash - you have to have a trained ear. Only a few can hear it without that.
By the way, when he is doing the dishwasher or works in the kitchen he hears Dimash - he made a playlist for himself - he says: Housework is a better thing by hearing Dimash 😂😂❤

SOS is in French and DIMASH early on traveled to France to perform and the French who got to see him at Cannes film festival were amazed at his performance. He was offered a contract as an Opera singer with Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but did no take it as he prefers to do all types of music and as you react more you will see his greatness even more so.
@@p.f.5718I shared Dimash with loved ones, too.... they are supposed to be much more vocally trained in music than I. I played violin, some piano. Dimash can vibrate my soul just like my violin did. (It was stolen and never could replace its quality or 'voice'). I thought they would feel his music, but no! They are annoyed at my listening daily, but I do it because it is healing and I feel that resonate deep... yes, I would call it therapeutic and I do have training in that. My first experience was Opera 2, the Singer, China. It made me happy for you, reading your journey.
