Hey there! I think my paper roll is too heavy because it’s not turning and the plastic forceps are beginning to collapse. How long is your backdrop paper?
@@bwilliams6583 I believe it's 36 feet long - Are you using the metal pole to hold up the paper? Or did you put the plastic forceps directly into the paper?
Hello Paul, your video was a big help. I've been considering a grey vinyl backdrop, but seeing your video helped me to go with grey and white Savage paper and the green screen backdrop. It was particularly helpful to hear you've used it 3 months and it's been great. Thanks again
Thanks for watching, and I’m so happy to hear it helped you. Yes the white backdrop is great because it offers versatility if you have LED color spectrum lights, you can really make it anything you want. Also tucking away the green screen on the ceiling is a game changer. Hopefully it continues to work for you!

There really isn’t that I’ve found tbh. Some people make their own with PVC pipe. But this is the only pole I’ve found that seems to work just right with the backdrop system.
Hi, where from to buy this metal tubes what should go between the bracket and backdrop? Is it come with paper backdrop, or need to buy separate, if yes , where from? Thanks.
You don't need to buy the metal poles, but it will make it more sturdy! So I would suggest it if you plan on leaving them up for long periods of time. Here is the link for the poles amzn.to/3pIjrTF - also in the description of this video I have a video on the poles. Hope this helps!
@@PaulMcGovernJr Hi thanks. Maybe i just see how it's works with out tube, and after decide do i need one, because some of this cartoons tubs are pretty strong.
Sometimes it's a 2 person job, especially for my green screen. Both people pulling it taut. Yet, the times I've done it by myself, I've done it slowly, and would bounce back and forth from side to side. Also you could tape the ends to the floor for the roll-up, and then remove it on the last bit. Hope this helps!
@@PaulMcGovernJr Hi Paul, Yes. I'll try the tape. I'm also going to put a weighted bar in the pocket at the bottom. I have to steam it a lot. Since I'm using it as a photo backdrop I have to edit out the shadows. Overall, very happy with the roller system. Thanks for your replies and video
Our ceiling is not concrete- it’s plaster. It should hold, you just need to make sure to find the studs, and if you can’t find those. Find good anchors. Mine has held up well for over the last 2 years and no issues!
I have the same system since 2 yeaes ago The spand bars started to be loose and don't pull the paper up or down Anybody has a solution to fix them, please?
Great video. Quick question, what if my studs on my wall aren’t exactly 10ft apart, would it be an issue if I I have one side on the stud and the other not on the stud? I just can’t put it on the ceilings because the ceiling is thin tiles, this is a commercial property.
Thanks for watching! I would say if you decide to do it that way, be sure to anchor the non-stud side well to ensure it’s stays in the wall. Not an expert, but just my experience! Hope it helps, good luck!
Thanks for the video! I find that the gear doesn’t turn easily if it is tightened, but if I loosen it enough to turn the gear, the paper doesn’t roll.. what do I do? Is this because I don’t have the aluminum pole? Thanks!
Good question! So far I haven't had any issues or cracks the last 4 months - the heaviest part is the paper rolls, but even with all three rolls filled on the bars, it's maybe 50-60 pounds. Which I imagine will be fine overall - I've had TVs that weigh heavier on my walls for 7-8 years.
I wouldn't feel comfortable with just drywall...I just put mine up in the garage on studs using concrete tapcon screws for max strength...unfortunately that makes it trickier because it's hard to find studs on both brackets and get them to fit the crossbar (which is not adjustable and mine is an approximately 9 foot bar). The metal poles and paper tubes are heavy so I don't know if they'll hold that well.
Rather well done. I don't think I could put one up or know how to use it but I feel inspired that if I wanted to I could find out how. A new thing in my life.
@@Jalfred845 Sometimes you need to tug the paper down a bit to get the paper moving. Also for bringing it up, kind of hold and lift the paper so it can catch. The chains are a little weak.
It about 10.5 feet between the brackets. Mainly because the poles are 10 feet, and the Savage rolls I had are 9 feet. So we measured a little over 10 feet so the extender arms had a couple inches to work with. If your roll is 7 feet tho and you plan on keeping your paper rolls that length moving forward- your brackets should be set a tad over 7, to adjust for the extender arms. Hope this helps!
Yes, we measured out a littler further than 3 meters. Since the poles are 10 feet. But it’s just about that. Be sure to measure it all out before drilling.
How do you get the paper to wrap around the aluminum pole? Because the pole is same size as cardboard. So yeah I have put it up as just cardboard like an hr ago. Would be highly appreciated if you could give me some info on this topic thanks
Hi! Did you buy the savage photo paper? Also is it the same fotoconic metal pole? If it's a different brands, I'm not certain. Hi Paul, this was SUPER HELPFUL! Y'all are angels haha. Did you have to cut the Fotoconic metal tube? If so, how did you cut it? Thanks so much for helping us all!
Man I need some help. I've set up the single roller system twice now, and have come across the same issue. This one time after a week of no issues I pulled down on the chain and the far side slips out and off the ceiling bracket, resulting in a collapse of the whole system. This second time ripped out the anchors on the side of the pull chain. I have a security camera so I was able to watch back and see exactly what happens - all it appears to me is that the aluminum pipe I have taped to the backdrop pops off the bracket on the far side. Have you ever come across this issue? Know what I'm talking about? Need some help. Thank you.
Wow - this hasn’t happened to me specifically- so are you saying the bracket itself came out of the wall? Or the pole slips out of the brackets when pulling the chain? Could be that your putting the plastic brackets in not tight enough into the pole. Are the brackets level on your ceiling? I don’t love the plastic chains that come with it- I’ve considered buying new metal chains.
@@PaulMcGovernJr Yes brackets are level. Correct, it’s the pole that slips out of the bracket when pulling the chain. Both times it has been the bracket opposite the side of the chain. It seems as though I need to pull down with some force, and that when I do, it has this effect of creating a very subtle bounce, or lift, of the pole on the far end. And, has resulted in the pole slipping out at times. Do you find you have to pull down with some force on the plastic chain to get your backdrop to roll?
I actually found your video more useful than the original due the ceiling type! Thank you very much! How do you feel it has held up since you've put it up?
