Amazing. Purchased each product exactly as mentioned (down to the grip liner). So, so grateful for this tutorial and info. I purchased #10-32-3/4" machine screws to attach the clamps to the bracket (took me a minute to figure out which screws worked). Again, so so appreciative. Amazing content!!
Btw, I'm a retailer heading to the digital space due to the pandemic. Completely new to photography. So extra thanks for keeping this simple for beginners and saving us the mistakes!
These screws are essential to getting this setup to work! Thank you for sharing. I wish the OP would include a link to them in the description along with the other supplies needed.
Finally! A subject matter that I’ve got 20 years of real world experience with. I use the Manfrotto Autopole II. This system is the original AND I travel with them! My Autopole have NEVER failed me! On assignment, it’s OVERKILL PLUS! I rarely use more than one color background when I’m out shooting, but when extended height poles (16ft. in my garage) or with the spreader legs, it’s an unbeatable system!
I've been using Varipoles for two years now and love them. Takes 10 minutes to set up my studio in the living room. I bought the little clamp on levels which makes it simple to get them straight. I just use two super clamps with J hooks to hang paper.
Realize I am late to this party but just getting ready to have my first dedicated to me studio space and this is the best system I have seen and fits my needs perfectly.
I have been struggling to put up the 3 backdrop wall mounth kit.. Thank you for making this super informative and helpful video.. no BS just gold stuff! I really appreciate it! cheers
Great solution. I have the Impact Wall Mounting Kit that I used to have installed on my ceiling, but I’ve moved into a rental. I’d like to avoid holes in the wall. Do you prefer the Impact Varipole vs the Kupole? I have a ton of Kupo super clamps. Will those work for this just as well as the Impact Clamps? Last thing I didn’t know about the aluminum tubes and agonized over avoiding sag. I ended up discovering that a 1.5” x 1.5” x 8’ piece of wood from Home Depot actually fits perfectly inside the Savage paper roll. I cut it down to fit btwn the expanding white roll holder thingies, and I didn’t have sag in over a year and 1/2. That piece of wood was like 6 bucks.
Thank you so much for your video. I broke a few cheap backdrop poles a few times. I thought I had to spend the motor one and piss off my landlord during covid season. I came across to your channel and glad that I found a way around it. Thank again for this video.
Just wish they had the metal pole in different sizes as there are different paper sizes. Might still get it and cut it down to accommodate the savage 86" rolls.
@@FStoppers I've used the Savage, Manfrotto and DIY Counterweight Leader Bars, I suggest just getting the Savage one, because you just open and snap it closed to the end of your seamless paper role (also you use it as a cutting line). @@FStoppers depending on whether you don't need the paper sweep on the floor, I use 1" or 2" spring A-clamps to weigh it down. if you want to tension it out at the bottom use several A-clamps starting with a 2" or 3" (depending on the Autopole diameter) around the Autopole, then clamp the leg of another A-clamp in that one to tension out any wrinkles. Works great for muslins and canvas's too.
Thank you! I did as you suggested and bought 2 extra super clamps. They came with ratchet handles. Do I need to use the ratchet handles for this setup or just leave them out? Also what size machine bolts do I need? And finally, what size flathead or tool do I need to lock in the 3 columns of the aluminum pipe?
Do yourself a favor and put about four or five metal clamps on the bottom of each paper roll so there is some weight at the bottom of the backdrop, then it will roll back up and stay tight to the core.
Yes, we do this. I actually have attached pieces of trim to the bottom to make it even heavier and smoother. You still need the aluminum bars inside the cardboard ream to keep the rolls from bending over time. -P
Lyle Stavast no kidding! Every little thing I do is annoying....not to mention I have to idea how long it will be before I can play tennis or guitar again🤦🏻♂️ -P
What size are the bolts you used? Also, can you use 4 brackets on one set of poles so that you can have 6 seamless colors hanging at once? I am curious as to if it is strong enough for that. Thank you in advance.
The tubes to roll the backdrop are not available anymore. Do you have othet references of straight tubes? I tried PVC ones but they are never straight.
Hey, is the aluminium pipe rigid enough since it has 3 pieces? If the connection between the pipes is not going to be "weakpoint" of the pipe compared to 1-piece aluminium. Thanks.
Hi, I have a 2,98m width wall and would like to use a 2,72m backdrop. Would that be possible? I don't know how much space I would need as I don't know how much space the Impact Wall Mounting Kit will take on each side. Thanks

I noticed this too with one of our rolls of paper. I loosened the knob on both sides of the rollers which I thought only held the connectors in place for the cross arms but it did make the roll easier to rotate. Not sure if that helps. -P

10-32 1/2 inch hex head screws. Two screws per clamp. Elsewhere in the comments, it says to use 3/4 inch screws but I found those too long
