There is much speculation that he only took responsibility for killing the children, to effectively halt the investigation from looking further to cover up his mistress's involvement in the crime. She was never thoroughly investigated as a potential suspect. This fact has left this crime with many unanswered questions and doubts over whether justice was truly served.

She actually WAS thoroughly investigated by the CBI and FBI and she was cleared. Get over it. The DA said he's positive she has nothing to do with it.

He didn't snap. He planned to kill her. He admitted that.

I think the constant negative stuff about his wife is just an extension of the intent of the letter that CW wrote, allegedly a week before the murders, trying to frame her if anything happened. Some carry that on to this day. A man who could do what he did to his son and little girls was never the victim imo.

I agree. I'm sure there is information that we (the public) will never have access to. There will be some who will place the blame on various parties. But as you say, a man who could do that deserves punishment. One of those poor girls woke up and KNEW she was going to be killed by her dad. Breaks my heart.

@@CrimePsych Bella's last moments haunt me. And the things he said about her and Celeste afterwards. He was surprised that "Little quiet Bella had a will to live."
"Out of all three, Bella is the only one that put up a fight. I will hear her soft little voice for the rest of my life, saying, 'Daddy, NO!!!' She knew what I was doing to her. She may not have understood death, but she knew I was killing her."
I don't believe when he said those things he was in any way remorseful. I think he was reliving it in the sickest of ways.

Chris Watts was a powder keg ready to explode. I see him as a very repressed, underdeveloped human being. He was able to work and like a psych/sociopath act as if he was normal. I believe on the surface he felt normal.
But the pressures of a dominant wife, financial instability and a new (unwantex by him, since the baby meant moe of the same, only deeper), hewas NOT prepared to deal with.
Along comes a sexy pretty woman and evolves a sexually charged affair and the man simply couldnt manage reality. Instead of divorce and all that follows (especially with very determined driven ex-wife) he took the childlike cowards way out: he threw all his current toys out of the sandbox.
I cannot believe he planned his children's murders. I wanted to believe that he killed his wife and bc the children witnessed it he killed them. But one cannot ignore that he knew as he was tucking them in bed that it'd be the last time.
He totally amputated his feelings for them. I cannot comprehend that.

The trip to NC was not because they were having trouble in their marriage. The trip had been planned before the affair. Shanann said in her texts, that they were all over each other before she left. It is not true that they had not had a sexual relationship after they conceived. He did not want to have sex the week he came to NC or when she got home. There is much more to know about his family, and how a lot of things got started. No one else has said she put him down in public. Imo,this was their campaign to try and make her out as an abusive wife. But it was actually something said by his mother ( maybe his sister then started to say it, but actually what his mother said was different). He even said, he did not know he was unhappy until he met his girlfriend. His sister and mother were in groups telling things that they put out as truth, but they told others very different things in private, and those people went public too! A couple of men said they felt he was sort of told what to do, but most of their friends said they thought they had a great marriage. Also too, she did handle the finances, but he knew everything about their finances and they had joint accounts. He is seen in video taking money from an atm , so he had access and knew everything. In most marriages, someone usually does it. He also says he knows all passwords on the body cams. No one knows that she said he would never see the kids again to him. He said she said it, when he crawled on top her to “talk” the morning he killed her. So we have no idea this happened. The coroner thinks she was asleep. You say it, as though he did. The groups were trying to psychoanalysis the videos. They decided he must have hated the mlm and it must have been the destruction of this famly. To this day, he has never said this to anyone, or at least anyone that has told the public. And on the video, said she was the dominate one and he was the quiet one. Then his sister and mother started telling how they did not like her in the beginning and could not get along with her. The groups would add a little and they would latch onto that and try and get him to use it. He knew everything said in those ( mainly one actually) groups. But if you actually talk to people that know or got to know his family of origin, there is interesting things there too. He has never said he did not like her job. He also never told people he hated being in the videos. The cops said to him at Dodge, after they told him he looked awkward, you did not like being in those videos ( quite leading) did you? He says, well I would have preferred to stay in the background that’s kinda like I am. When he talks about rage, he says his lawyers told him it was rage. He told others he had no idea why he was even mad at her and wasn’t until he met NK. He says he felt like NK had a leash on him that morning. I am sure she was trying to,get him to make a decision and that “good guy” was trying to figure out how he was going to be the “good guy” to all of their friends and leave her for his new woman after a six week affair. In the letters that were included in Cadle’s book, you can tell he has listened to the groups. People that are in the know tell him anything “analyzed” from her ads for Thrive, but then he still will say she was good to him. The person that visited and talked to him more than anyone right after the murders ( and got pretty close to him), said he never talked badly about her to her. She was in the group with all information his mom and sister wanted her to know and even had become friends with his sister, and still he told her Shanann had been good to him. There is not one person that actually knew them, that says she said bad things in front of people about him in their testimony….not one. The mother was the one that actually said she bad things about him to her that she did not like when they first met in an interview on tv. They only saw them a couple of times a year after they moved to Colorado, which had been the last 6 out of the eight years they were married and the sister was rarely there because the parents traveled to see them. So, you are likely thinking of what the mother said, or someone in the group thought she saw on an ads for Thrive, after the mother started telling them why she did not like her. But people that actually knew them and saw them all,of the time did not see her put him down during their marriage. Actually, they say she talked glowingly about him. Which makes it all the more sad. He had met the woman a week or so before Shanann left, but they were not together yet. As soon as she left, they got together. He starts gaslighting and discarding her in those texts. Someone that knows them, told me he fell for Shanann the same way. She was instantly the most beautiful woman he had ever seen
,He was obsessed with her. A friend said Shanann was diagnosed with Lupus during the times She has losses 25 lbs and was starting to lose some hair. She needed a caregiver. He became one. He stayed with her and went to appointments with her. Same as Nk took his breath away as he told them in the 😮interview and then used the exact same words at Dodge. I think she wanted firsts and he was afraid she was going to find out he was having a son. IMO he wanted to give her one. But he becomes obsessed it seems, and then he reads them.

she was controlling, but he deserves his sentence x1000, he is unintelligent and a poor decision-maker.

She was not controlling. She treated him like a king and let him do whatever he wanted. If she was controlling, he would not have had time to go have an affair because she would have been micromanaging him. He bought what he wanted and when he wanted. She kept the house immaculate and cooked him home cook meals and was always in her videos - Chris would like this dessert. He was spoiled that’s it.
Shannan was most men’s dream of a wife - she supported his love of sports, made sure he went to events he liked, raised his kids, kept his house clean, cooked fantastic meals and showed him lots of love and affection. Chris Watts said he thought he was happy until he met Nikki. She was busy googling every kind of kinky related thing he might like. That’s it - that’s what made him switch allegiance. Her willingness for kink is what drove him. He tossed his good wife over for something that many men had used before.

I miss the most important part in the psychological analysis of the Chris Watts case. That part that cannot be thought away without the result also being lost: namely 4 people killed: And this is the affair with Nichol Kessinger. Maybe this should be added.
