This was the first year of FOX covering the NFL. Joe Buck was on the # 3 announcing team with Tim Greeen. They were the only below # 3 announcing team on FOX at that point to call a Cowboys game.
I will always be grateful to Jeff Blake for giving Bengals fans a glimmer of hope during his time as the Bengals QB. While we were never good enough to make the playoffs, he did restore respect back into the franchise.
This was the first game after Erik Williams' car accident and Larry Allen's first start at RT. This game also demonstrated Switzer's hyper aggressive coaching style as he went for it on 4th down not once, but twice. Switzer also went for it on 4th down during crucial drives in both playoff games. His decision to go for it against the Packers in the divisional playoffs extended a drive that led to a touchdown. In the NFC Championship Game, Switzer changed his mind about kicking a field goal, and he decided to go for it on 4th and 7 against the 49ers. Kevin Williams made a spectacular catch and a Michael Irvin touchdown catch on the very next play cut the Boys deficit to 10 points.
@@jackduncan5442 They still found a way to win and winning was a hallmark of the Cowboys from 1992-1995. This game demonstrated that next to Larry Allen, the biggest addition to the 94 Cowboys was K Chris Boniol. He had a terrific rookie season and his 2nd season was even better. Boniol was almost perfect in the 95 season, hitting 27 of 28 field goals in the regular season, and 6 of 7 field goals in the playoffs.
I was at this game with a fellow die hard Cowboys fan…we kept thinking that they were going to get it going any time now, had us scared that they would lose but luckily they pulled it out!
17:04 if you pause and look at the scene, what is going on in the background? A lot of people in shorts sitting on a bench and a few people laying on the ground in what appears to be sleeping positions facing away from the field. Most likely cheerleaders make up a portion of this but there are some people that don't appear to be cheerleaders as well. Curiosity has got me wondering what is happening here.
I was only 12 at the time of this game, but I remember it because they spent so much time playing from behind and my world would end if the Cowboys lost lol.
I'm not a cowboys or Bengals fan but Barry Switzer had to learn that even 0-7 team in the NFL is capable of beating a high level NFL team. The NFL is not college.
He actually meant it in a complimentary way. What he was trying to say (in that comparison) is that when he was head coach at Oklahoma, no matter how bad Iowa State looked......they sometimes gave the Sooners trouble. So he was trying to warn his team of a "trap" game.
If you read skip bayless' book "hell bent" the story goes after the game when shula and switzer meet and shook hands, shula leans into switzer's ear and tells him, "you can stick Iowa State up your ass."
Interesting that Joe Buck calling his first Cowboys game, mentions Troy Aikman a number of times and have been the #1 FOX team for 17 years and counting.
This was a 25 year old Joe Buck. He started filling in for his dad in Cardinals games once in a while a few years before but his was his first year calling football games. Unless he called some Missouri football games in the early 90s.
At least the numbers and lettering are stitched onto the jerseys now. And we finally got rid of those embarrassing green pants. Personally, I'd like to see them ditch those lame, white, colorburst pants, too. Maybe even wear the road unis more often. I could go either way with the striped socks, though I did miss them when they first got rid of them.
The Bengals weren't a good team, and I think this was the game when Barry Switzer during the week leading up to the game, did an interview and said in his shouting way "THEY GOT A GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM.....WHY AREN'T THEY IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!". I wish I could find that clip.
Barry Switzer was a total idiot his coaching for that team was miserable they won cause of what Jimmy did. Switzer did nothing but screw it up by letting players like Michael Irvin do what they wanted cocaine in the Famous White House.
I haven't heard these player's names since playing Madden '95..in 1995!
Who kept yelling "Oh s--t!"????...lol
I was at this game, and growing up a Bungles fan, I just knew they would find a way to lose and like normal, they did!
I never met a Bengals fan

@Tommy Parker fox listed them as the # 4 announce team in both 94 & 95
@@sports3117 I think you are right. Kevin Harlan and Jerry Glanville I think were FOX's #3 announcing team at that time.
Sports 311 on
It feels weird hearing Joe Buck call a game played by Troy Aikman!!! Same with Jim Nantz when Romo was playing for Dallas!!!

This was just a weird game. Beating a garbage Bengals team 23-20.

76 degrees in Cincinnati on October 30th - the year before on Halloween weekend I think they had a few inches of snow.
I was at this game with a fellow die hard Cowboys fan…we kept thinking that they were going to get it going any time now, had us scared that they would lose but luckily they pulled it out!
Ahhhh i remember this game. Scared the Fuck out of me. Thought my boys was gonna blow it
0:07 Oh shit XD
Jeff Blake was as fun as any QB in league to watch for about a season & a half. Darnay Scott & Pickens wow his rainbow throws were almost magical
Jeff Blake had the Cowboys stunned
The Bengals had this game, but like many of their losses that season they couldn't hold a lead.
The better team won the game
Who keeps saying "oh shit"? 😂

I assume the last 26 years have been hard. I’m a Broncos fan I know all about it.
Ah yes, the “Iowa State Game”. Barry compared the 0-7 Bengals to playing Iowa State and he almost paid for it.
He did? Yikes.
I'm not a cowboys or Bengals fan but Barry Switzer had to learn that even 0-7 team in the NFL is capable of beating a high level NFL team. The NFL is not college.

Legend🎉Jeff Blake🔥
What's a more bungles thing to do then blow an opportunity to beat the 2 time defending super bowl champion?
Interesting that Joe Buck calling his first Cowboys game, mentions Troy Aikman a number of times and have been the #1 FOX team for 17 years and counting.
Eight years later,Buck and Aikman would team would Cris Collinsworth.
You mean the play by play announcer mentioned the starting quarterback of one of the teams numerous times? Interesting indeed.
It’s 2022
Buck and Aikman are now at ESPN calling MNF
Hip hop icon:dagger of time
A young Joe Buck?? Who knew??
The Cincinnati Bengals when they were the Cincinnati Bungles.
Not much has changed
Is that Joe Buck on the call? Sure sounds like him.
I can confirm that it's Joe Buck doing Play By Play with Tim Green doing the Colour Commentary.
This was a 25 year old Joe Buck. He started filling in for his dad in Cardinals games once in a while a few years before but his was his first year calling football games. Unless he called some Missouri football games in the early 90s.
I wish John Madden would’ve done this game..
Yeah. Interesting seeing him calling a game Troy played in.
Coached by Barely Switzer
Cowboys need to bring back the striped socks.
At least the numbers and lettering are stitched onto the jerseys now.
And we finally got rid of those embarrassing green pants.

The Cowboys first-ever win at Cincinnati.
1:48 sweet block by ES
if jimmy stayed he would have more than belichick
0:49. Bill Maas. Talk about jumping and ruining a playcall . 🤔🤔🤔
That was Tim Green. Maas wasn't with FOX then.
I almost Dallas was gonna lose this game scared me
Is that Joe Buck?
0:07 Oh Shit
And again at 0:36, and at 3:36 and at around 6:30 as well haha. Must’ve had a player mic’d up at the wrong times.
Blake and Jones are married to twin sisters
Who keeps cursing 😂
Another Cincinnati choke.

Why are y'all playing so bad
