Geez! Thanks for getting to Kamelot. For the People’s elbow, Anthem, Here’s to the Fall or Love you to death.. The full blown rock metal opera, Elizabeth I II & III, March of Mephisto, or Up through the ashes ( this is a story of Christ’s trial from Pontius Pilate perspective)
Thanx Geebz, that was a wonderful reaction ! For some more Kamelot, try with their former singer, Roy Khan, maybe Elizabeth (I, II, III), live version, it is just a mind blowing experience and a really magnificient piece of music.
You’ll see a lot of comments about their previous vocalist, which will spark some Nightwish-like debate, but I think most people appreciate what both Tommy Karevik (current) and Roy Khan (previous) have contributed to the band. For something good with Roy, I recommend Forever (Live). m.ua-cam.com/video/EqqPYySZnVY/v-deo.html It is built from a riff based on a part of Edvard Grieg’s Solveig’s Song.
I recommend checking out old Kamelot, with their previous singer Roy Khan. That guy is just unbelievable. His range & technique, lyricality, the way he conveys emotions are ridiculously amazing. My song suggestions would be Edge of Paradise, The Haunting or Forever. Can be studio or live, he'll blow you away either way! Greeting from Poland :)
For more Kamelot (who I'd classify as splitting the divide of Power Metal and Symphonic Metal), I'd check out The Haunting (live), Abandoned, When Lights Are Down, Sacrimony, Under Grey Skies, and Phantom Divine. Alissa is the lead singer for Arch Enemy, a Melodic Death band. For her, I'd check out Nemesis (live), Under Black Flags We March (live), War Eternal, and The Eagle Flies Alone. You should also check out Arch Enemy's previous frontwoman (and current manager) Angela Gossow. For her, definitely check out Nemesis, Ravenous, Under Black Flags We March, and My Apocalypse (all live). Something to note are the differing techniques used by Alissa and Angela. Alissa is a fry screamer which let's her use longer phrasing and be more active on stage, as well as a bit more intelligible for people who are less experienced with extreme vocals. Angela is a false cord screamer, which gives her an incredibly rich... Roar with tons of overtones. However, she needs shorter phrasing and isn't as active on stage. Both are simply exceptional at what they do.
I will just leave here some interesting facts about this band. Epica's band name came from Kamelot's album with the same name. Alissa is the current Arch Enemy vocalist and was doing backup/guest vocals for Kamelot while on tour together with Elize Ryd which is the vocalist of Amaranthe. At the time they were the opening act for Nightwish. As mentioned in other comments you will hear a lot about Roy Kahn the initial vocalist for Kamelot and I definitely recommend to hear songs from that era. He left the band for personal health problems. Some of my favorite songs from them are "Center of the Universe", "March of Mephisto" and "When the Lights are Down".

Kamelot however spoke to me in a way nothing ever at that point had, and even thanks to that I've grown to at least appreciate even mainstream music. Frankly not sure I could live without music at this point, so... Thanks Kamelot?? I discovered your channel today, from the G.O.A.T. reaction video. I immediately binged multiple videos. I’m a musical fellow (at least I like to think I’m musical 🙃) but never went to music school or anything, so I’m discovering a lot of new things here. I’m currently trying to learn to play drums; I dabbled a bit in piano and guitar, but I’ve realized that what my soul craves and my body needs is the drums. The first time I listened to G.O.A.T. was a watershed moment for me; Clay Aeschliman has godly skills, and I needed to know the secret... (I think it turned out to be something like 10,000 hours). Anyhow, I love the music on your channel, and I love the format (especially the rambles; I love long rambles about anything interesting) so I’ll most definitely be sticking around... PS: Song to maybe do a video-“Where Is My Mind?” by the Pixies...

Love that song! Awesome to hear your analysis. BTW Alissa White Gluz is the current vocalist for Arch Enemy...you did one of their song a month ago "World is Yours" which I had recommended haha. Arch Enemy actually produced their first ballad in 25 years which is called "Reason to Believe" because they finally had singer with appropriate range to do so (confirmed my Michael the OG guitarist). I would suggest either their recent song "Helix" to start since you will see the band's style and typical arrangement. If you want to do a second one, checkout the track called "Boom!1". Also "Hunger" is one of my favorite tracks (spoiler they had different vocalists then). PS: If you check out Amaranthe, I know you will wonder/ask about the Synth you hear, it is pre-recorded by Olof the guitarist.
I was also going to suggest Amaranthe to him as well. I had thought that Alissa did a song with them too, but then realized I got my Arch Enemy vocalists confused.

Yes Alissa is in a band called Arch Enemy and they are very well known. BUT if you want to listen to her full potential you should go for her former band The Agonist. Where Ideomotor has the best mix of her range, Swan Lake by The Agonist has her hightest note recorded and the lowest i found so far are in the Shadow on the Wall Cover from Arch Enemy. this video version cuts out a minute of the song, including the solo. The full version is better, and more fleshed out. I hoped you'd do that given you've been using spotify.
Why Kamelot was so willing to butcher this song for the video and seemingly all future live performances, I just don't understand. The full version is one of the best songs they've ever made.
@@CloudMountainJuror yeah I dunno, it's just the way the industry works, or at least worked in the past. I think there is a better case now for having longer videos, but who knows. They could have at least kept it full for the live versions.

OH MAN Let me tell you about two great "ends the way it begins" albums from two artists I would highly recommend to anybody any day of the week. High on Fire put out a record called "De Vermis Mysteriis" that is something of a concept album. A little ways in there is a five track story, starting with "Fertile Green" and ending on "King of Days," (both great songs, especially "King of Days") that begins and ends with the same drum beat, and if you've never listened to High on Fire, let me tell you that their drums are rumbling and thunderous, and an absolute delight to listen to when it's just their drummer opening or closing out a set. The second band is Carach Angren, and they have another concept album called "Where Corpses Sink Forever," which ends the way that it begins. Number one track I would have to recommend from them would have to be "The Funerary Dirge of the Violinist." It is absolutely dark, beautiful, and heart wrenching.
Please check the band Ayreon - The day that the world breaks down. The singer of Kamelot, Tommy, is in it aswell. It's a long one, but I (and the rest of your followers) think you will like it
I would absolutely love to see your reaction to Human Sadness - The Voidz | it is a melancholy synth driven masterpiece and I think you would find a lot about this song to admire
Is that song about the wheel of time books? I gotta check it out, those books are probably my favorite fantasy epic. Blind Guardian has some great songs, they even did music for the Sacred games (I remember playing Sacred 2 and seeing Easter eggs about the band in the game)
Architects - "Animals" [Orchestral Version] - Live At Abbey Road Devin Townsend Project - Deadhead [Live At Royal Albert Hall] August Burns Red More Nine Inch Nails Chino Morenos other Bands besides Deftones: Crosses, Palms, Team Sleep While She Sleeps Cradle Of Filth / Devilment
