Thoroughly enjoy your content Rich, very honest depiction of the life of a gigging musician. I can relate. I’m a tube amp guy, so I’ve experienced those moments, but the mono price is cheap enough to carry a spare lol. Good luck on whatever it is that you’re developing, you seem like such a hardworking guy who deserves success!

Sounds great Rich! That katana really holds its own. Been thinking about trying one but I have a catalyst so seems redundant. That sucks about the monoprice. Always murphys law with that stuff. I’ll have to try my MP live at some point… with a backup! 😁

  • @CoffeeConversationMusicGear
    @CoffeeConversationMusicGear 6 місяців тому

Hi Rich, it may have been the power at the venue..., Tube amps can be picky if its not getting clean power or enough voltage. If the monoprice 15 watt amp is working at home, you may have more up-to-date wiring that is spec to code in your home then that club you played at. Old wiring and local pub spots can cause all kind of funky stuff with tube amps. Its always good to have that backup amp which you did. and the Katana is fantastic! Solid State amps technology is so much better nowadays then yesteryear. Love your channel and your vlogs of the shows Rich. Keep Rocking on!🤘🎸

Many makers have come to the conclusion that most people play guitar at home. Not many will go on world tours. Some play while watching the news, making dinner etc...etc...

Tube amps are a hassle sometimes ( even the expensive handbuild ones ) , i have my fender tm dr for more then 4 years now , its the same as the katana , you turn it on and it works and sounds great .

Another really cool vid, Rich - as always. Man I love the gig vlogs - and especially when you roll into Lava. One of the coolest little places out West, I think. Thew Wife and I love it there! You guys sounded good - and yeah. Hard to beat a Boss Katana. Great combination of portability, excellent sound, and reliability. It's all in that box. Rock on Bro - and Merry Christmas to you & Family!

Hey man, said it before, the video of you schlepping the load is what separates you from the herd. Hands down the most detailed "what it really is" gig vlogs on UA-cam. If it wasn't for having to watch you in hot tubs you would be cool. 🤣 Thanks for keeping it real. Merry Christmas.

Looking forward to your big reveal! The gig sounded great as usual. I tried to dump my Katana a few months ago in favor of EVH iconic combo….don’t know what I was thinking…got my Katana back…most recently tried a Boss Nextone special. It looked nice but I prefer my Katana 100 mk2.
Merry Christmas Rich! Enjoy time with your family and let’s all pray for a happy 2024!

Cool. Kats work. I’ve used my little Kat 50 and my Kat Artist at gigs. Since I bring the PA too I though about the Kat head with a line out to the PA and selling off the combos (and picking up a cab for non-pa use). Or even doing a UA Dream with my small board to the PA. Nice job with the Cars cover.

Hi Rich. Really dig your content and gig vlogs.
Do you have any lag or phase issues with the Katana / Monoprice pairing?
I have the same Katana and would like to get a small tube amp to run a similar rig, but heard there can be issues getting them to gel. You seem to make it work though.
    Merry Xmas from Perth, Australia.

I enjoy your UA-cam postings and have found several that informed me about a purchase I had been contemplating…I’ve always been a tube amp guy but they are so loud when looking for that overdriven kinda sound… I tried the katana and while they do sound pretty good, I just found myself with endless tweaking… recently bought a tone master deluxe reverb and I think I’ll sell the katana now… the deluxe is only 23 lbs and the attenuator built into the deluxe as well as the DI output makes it so easy to get where I need to be for whatever gig I’m playing… I look forward to seeing what you have in development for your UA-cam channel…Cheers and happy new year!!!

I also like the loading / unloading and setting up bits, and especially the scenery as you head to and fro 😊 I’m yet another (ageing) Katana 50 player - holds its own against a drummer, keyboards and horn section, although mic-ed up for sound balance. wow and no problems with frets or necks? I’ve tried a few . Get a steam humidifier. Little more expensive, but for a music room it’s the way to go. I am using a Boneco steam humidifier . Swiss company. Really good few different sizes.

I haven't had problems, but the studio is upstairs, and most the moisture in the house end up rising up to there, so I think that helps.

I really appreciate the live experience you show. The packing, the driving, the setup, the problems, etc. Nice to hear what these things sound like in a band context. Wish more channels did this.
My one suggestion would be to give a little detail on the pedalboard. An inexperienced player might pick up a Katana and wonder why they can’t get it to sound like yours does, not knowing how much of the tone comes from your pedals.
    Great video. Thanks.
