Gig Vlog - My Weekend - Live In Lava Hot Springs, Raw, Mistakes And All!!! - With Strymon Iridium

- Hey guys, just a vlog of my weekend with a gig up in Lava Hot Springs. What you are hearing is the Strymon Iridium into the mains with my pedals. I also had the Boss Katana on but it was barely turned up, so what you hear in this video is Iridium on my pedal board. Also we didn't have monitors, so I could barely hear my voice, so no judgement about my singing...

Good stuff, thanks for sharing!!!
This is really cool. There are a lot of YT personalities out there who review equipment and give opinions, but very few who put themselves out there and open themselves up like this. Definitely bumps up his credibility score, imo.
Definitely going to check out the your Electric Hymns and Your other suggestions. But dude I love your vlog shows and appreciative of your sharing your music and music journeys. Keep rocking and sharing great stuff on your channel!
Thanks!
The Katana sounded pretty good!
Man. I love this show brother. Great content
Thanks Rob!
Just got to end. Awesome man. I may need to try worship tags as it seems they like the airy stuff. I'm no perfect guy but I have a struggling faith. Awesome video
I like the creativity. Your a cool dude.
Ah to be young and drunk again. Great playing guys. Love the videos
Love the gig footage! we all know the looks and feels :-)
And your hymns reached holland, Rich. Be proud
Dang! Holland! That's cool!
I just happened upon your channel while doing a “Boss Katana 50 gigging” search. Really enjoying your content!
Killer set list btw
Thanks! Im using the Katana this weekend to play a gig up north.
@@RichBischoff hope the gig went well!
Great gig , always enjoy your content and playing...... cant wait to see the new haircut.
The only mistake I saw was not showing of the thumbnail girl with the tight jeans and black top more! LOL! I don't need a haircut but I could use a ham and spinach omelet with hash browns and toast! 😋
Breakfast in bed...congrats! My kids think I’m there butler first and Dad second.
Ha!, yeah, I can relate, my daughter wanted me to drop everything to take her lunch at her school today...
Nice crowd!
You had the crowd.
Do not talk you'reself down , you are a human , just like you're famous friend , no more , no less .
Damm Rich. You're one cool SOB. And back at Lava!!!! Yess! Love it there. Can't wait to get back sometime. Just so far away for me. But I'm definitely going to get back. Love that area. Anyway, as always, you sounded great. This was your best vid yet, I think. Also - Mark Williams mentioned below... about Thin Lizzy. Man - it would be so cool to hear your take on Cowboy Song. One of my All-Time faves. Makes the fuzz stand up every time I hear a good version of it.
Thanks Jimmy! I need to check out more Thin Lizzy I guess. I'm not that cool, though, just a dude trying to get by with what I know how to do... but thanks!
@@RichBischoff You're pretty cool Bro! LOL But one of the things that makes you cool is... that you're real - and you don't try to act cool. I was just telling the Wife you were back at Lava. We LOVE it there. Want to get the Kiddos there too one of these days.
And yes. Thin Lizzy has got some great stuff. Late 70s dual guitar magic. Cowboy song is unbelievable. Check out Gary Moore's version on You Tube at a Thin LIzzy reunion celebration type thing. After Phil Lynott was long gone. But man Gary was just SMOKIN it in that show - and Cowboy Song ... he ripped it up. It's a story too. I get lost in it. Obviously.... Boys are Back in Town is great. China Town. Jailbreak (whole album is great). Thunder & Lightnin.' Etc etc. GREAT Band.
@@RichBischoff In case you're interested Rich.... This is the show I was talking about. I love the combination of Gary Moore and Scott Gorham on guitar. Always have. This is a GREAT version of Cowboy Song. Would love to hear your take. ua-cam.com/video/7kP0Xfb4aWM/v-deo.html
The Iridium did a great job , sound very close to the real amp.
ZZ top awsome i love them.
Cool video! Enjoyed the variety and the gig footage was fun.
Do you know any T Rex or Thin Lizzy?
Dang! I would LOVE to hear Rich's take on Cowboy Song. That would be so cool.
I was looking for a live video as I’m thinking about ditching the amp for this pedal :) might have a situation where I have to travel to a studio! or anywhere else! like the idea of getting by with a guitar and a bag of pedals :)
It works well, I've done arena shows with it where the front of house guy was blown away.
Great video thanks Rich!👍☺
Wow dude I've followed your channel for a while and I woulda never "thunk" it that you were once a Mormon. Me, I'm very religious but a Reformed Baptist, Mike.
I'm technically still Mormon, just not as religious as I once was. It's complicated...
Hey Rich, love the videos, really great production ! I like your humble approach to music. Cool that you rock the katana mk 2 amp, I have the same one and it's just a great, all purpose amp. Keep the vids coming !
Thanks Chris!
Just started watching, I notice you have the same Event monitors as I do. Interested to hear why you have 3 pairs of monitors and what each does for you.
I do all my tracking on the Events, I mix on the Yamahas. And for I final reference I listen to the mix on the rockets and then the Events. I have clients who like listening to their mixes on different speakers so having a bunch helps.
Been enjoying your live band coverage all the way from Oz. Keep playing live music, just as Neil Young said, “Live music is better, bumper stickers should be issued”. Great stuff, keep it going man!
I'm considering getting an Iridium, so this was very helpful for me! Thanks for posting this!
Starting the show with Blues Traveler! Awesome set
Thanks!
I know the Katana is a Swiss Army Knife for gigging musicians, but there's something about the way it breaks up, the clipping that goes on that I just don't like. An unfair comparison would be Orange amps. Not the same breakup as thr Katana, but they get a real mechanical, chainsaw clipping. Square clipping? I don't know. It sounds less than organic, but until I start gigging in earnest I will bow to the multi-functionality of the Katana.
I hate all the sounds in the Katana. I only use boss katana on the clean amp setting with pedals. It's a great pedal platform that's it. There is something about all the gain amp models that just doesn't sound good. Andersons did a vid on the subject a few months ago, where they changed out the speaker in Katana to different speakers. The clean channel with pedals was the only thing that sounded good.
@@RichBischoff I remember that video. Even pulled out the headphones for it. I think "fizzy" or "harsh carbonation" are the adjectives I would use.
For those who were wondering, the sign in the fridge says: “This drawer falls out, so don’t pull it out all the way!”
Sweet home sounded dope, buddy. Solid gig 💪🏻
Thanks Sean!
Great video, not sure about the dancing tho 🤣
Same.
The Strymon Iridium sounds fantastic
Did you bring a new 68 Vibro Champ Reverb home to review? I'd be interested in that!
Yes I did. It is great!
@@RichBischoff Gah - I'm afraid you're gonna cost me some money...
Ha! This one is less than the regular Champ, so I'll be saving you some money!
@@RichBischoff I'm afraid my wife won't see it exactly the same way as you do.
@@RichBischoff Then again - I've been kicking around the Deluxe Reverb ToneMaster and this is $100 less than that so it may well indeed be fiscally smart!
👍🔥🎸🦅
Great video! Love the live gig stuff! Cool to see people dancing and having fun to rock and roll! I'm checking out the Electric Hymns album, and enjoying it. God is good all the time!
Thanks!
i was hoping you were going to use the fender brown tone master.
Unfortunately I dont own that amp...
@@RichBischoff i'm like 65 years old with a bad back and was looking for something lighter, i watch your review of the blonde tone master, i though it sounded pretty damn good.
That's why I haul Katana around although in this vid you're mostly just hearing the strymon iridium and my pedals through the pa. My back is jacked and I'm only 47. Years of hauling gear...
Hey brother, your Hot Rod Deville UA-cam brought me here. I need a great sounding clean amp for home and out as I use a pedals..Bogner Red and Blue and Friedman Deluxe OD. Would you suggest the Hot Rod Deluxe or a Katana and just use the clean as a pedal platform? Thank you so much. Love your playing and your faith.
The Deville is heavy as hell and loud. If you don't mind those 2 things then the Deville probably sounds the best. I use Katana because it is light and takes pedals very well, so the katana sounds good, but it's more about convenience.
@@RichBischoff I’ll try the Katana 2x12 and the Hot Rod Deluxe not the Deville.
I'm probably going to get a Princeton soon.
Great show, Rich! Killer man
Thanks Josh!
@@RichBischoff 🙌 you killed that ZZ-Top solo
Really Great performance
Anyone knows the First song rich plays with the band? 12:00
Runaround by Blues Traveler
Thanks a Lot Rich. Consider sharing your setlist, that would be great!
What was the set list?
Very good! Thinking of getting it for live and gig direct to FOH.
I dig it.
@@RichBischoff do you have it going into the Katana for stereo, or for a monitor? Or do you have the Katana going into it so you can use the Katana's effects? I've been looking at something like this for a live option and wasn't sure how/if i could use it in combination with the Katana
More for a monitor. But one side of my dual delay is going to katana and the other PA...
@@RichBischoff Thank you for the reply!
