Such a throwback. When I was less than a year old, my parents took me to visit family in the Midwest. They got a ‘94 Escort, same color in Omaha and drove it all the way through Canada to Anchorage, Alaska. It was a secondary car as my dad had a truck for his daily driver, but he always loved driving this little thing around because of how easy he could fit it into parking spots. I remember when we upgraded to an ‘05 Escape and it felt so modern compared to this. I miss this little car cause of the memories we had with it.
I bought same car a year ago, still runs and drives as perfect as then, no rattles, gets 36 mpg or more. AC is cold. Came with 4 new Michelin tires, still great tread now. Excellent body and interior. Paid $500. Very happy with it.
What a good nostalgia video. My dad bought one in the early 2000s. He had the manual trans. His was such a shit box but still started up and drove. The motor finally went at close to 500k on it. He drove alot for work so he liked that it was getting him 45mpg religiously even with the high miles. He bought 3 toal and other ones also went same way. Cylinder 3 gave way in all 3 escorts he had. But the wagon was the best he had despite it was falling apart. Thank you for the video such nostalgia.
We had a 1994 Escort wagon that was our first brand-new family car, nicknamed "Bob" after the guy who sold it to us. Same color, too - that was a trendy hue in the mid-90's. Lots of great memories - we had it for almost nine years before replacing it with a Ford Focus hatchback. You've gotta love those automatic seatbelts, lol!
Came across this vid in July of 2021 while researching a different car. Nice walk down memory lane, since I used to have this exact car 😁 I really liked it and miss it.....
a friend of mine had one of these in high school in the late 90s. it survived a ton of abuse, was pretty comfortable, got good MPG, and actually handled really well with a manual trans. we used to take it up in the mountains camping, on light 4x4 trails, and once even drove it straight through a massive patch of blackberries at moderate speed... didn't stop it and only scratched it up. it was even the same color.. we called it the Teal Pony the only time it ever stopped, was when one of our friends lied about being able to drive a stick, so she could borrow it. later that day she called from a pay phone.. she had driven all around town mostly in 1st gear and slipped the clutch like mad on every hill. they were really underrated cars. I feel like this particular model of Escort (and I suppose the similar model year Taurus) was when Ford really started to take on a lot of Japanese/Euro cues in their designs, especially on the layout/materials/quality of the interior and instruments - and so unlike a lot of GM/Mopar designs of the same era, the interior/exterior design is still pretty servicable. if I found one in really good shape for a decent price I would probably pounce on it as a commuter... but the focus wagon is a huge step up in that department for not much more money, so...

Thats a gorgeous vehicle! Gotta love that 1.9L SEFI under the hood, solid 88 horsepower, uh....seats, rolling windows...reverse. Its got it all! I had the 94 version for like 18 years, quite a vehicle indeed
I’m the second owner of a ‘94 wagon. I’ve had mine for over twenty years. I love it. I’ll never sell it. The few minor repairs have always been cheaper than a car payment. People are starting to freak out when they see mine on the road still. Looks new too (from about 30 feet) I call it my anti-status symbol
mescko Sad to hear. I hope mine keeps chugging along for awhile longer. 168k. Who knows? It runs great now. Not Cayman. Mine is Opal Frost (silver). I just finished repainting the bumpers today!
@@patneil6844 Cool. Silver seems a hard color to find. I want to find a another Cayman since I now have lots of spare parts :/. 5-speed, I put a rebuilt head on it so no more valve seat worries, at 170k I could still see the honing marks.. It had been sold new at a local dealership, bought it from the SIL, they couldn't drive anymore. always dealer serviced, flawless int., new clutch and alt., not a hint of rust. RIP
mescko I didn’t know that silver is hard to find. Maybe my car is worth more. Haha! 😆 I had the head redone too. SoCal car, so no rust. 5 speed. Fun to drive.
Love the car.... My meme had one red wagon. And long after she left my Pepe, 1997, went back to Canada....2013 later she passed on. But he drove that car from 1997 to 2018.... All he had left of my grandmother.
Very nice. I have a 93 escort wagon. Silver. Automatic tranny. Had it for a year. Put a lot of money into it. It has 155k miles on it but she runs like a champ. Unfortunately it doesn't have power locks or windows. But escorts are good cars. Grew up with my parents driving a 93 escort. But the 2 door hatchback. Also automatic. They bought it in 95. According to what my parents said it had around 40k miles when they first got it. The transmission blew in 2004. And the engine blew in 2009. My father replaced both of them. He was a mechanic back in the 90s. It was a great car. Until one morning in 2014. When my dad was on his way to work he hits a deer on the highway and the car was totaled. To this day I still miss that car. Had less than 120k miles on it when it died.
I have a white manual one of these and I call it the white whale. I own 4 total but I only drive the white whale. I completely gutted it and restored it. Its been over mountains, dealt with over 7 teenagers in it, a 4 hour road trip, 1 six hour beach trip, 3 times sleeping in it, and a hundreds of trips back and forth to school
My dad had an escort lx wagon also, it was dark red and it was a 94 model. Had it for 7 to 8 yrs. It had poor engine performance, but overall I agree, legroom both front and back was excellent from what I somewhat remember, I was 7 he he sold it, I do remember that day.
I have one of these. The color is somewhere between gold and copper. Bought it for $750 with only 56,000 miles on it and the body had zero rust on it. It was to replace a 1999 Ford Escort wagon that we had to retire because of rust issues. My dad and I believe it was owned by an old person who didn't drive it much over the last 20 years. The car's in great shape for its age and the engine has plenty of get up and go in it. We decided to put the 1999 tires on the 1995 Escort, which gave the car a bit of a sporty look to it. Overall, the car is a small one, but it's got plenty of years left in the old gal.
I had a silver '93 LX wagon, paid 1200 for it back in 2018. It was a great car and I drove that thing easily 1000 miles a week. It not once left me stranded. I would love to find another someday so I can put my '91 Eagle Premier in storage.
Great video! This was the first car I drove. Same year & color, but mine didn't have a tachometer & it also had manual windows & door locks. It was originally my great uncles car, but he couldn't drive it anymore so it became my first car. I got it right after I got my drivers license 12 years ago when I was 16. Good times! Sure, there were a lot of flaws with this car that I didn't like, but it got me around no problem for two years & it was free. I bought a brand new 2006 Toyota Corolla in 2005 & gave this car to my younger brother which he drove it for another two years before we sold it when he went away to college.
I got the same one 95 escort for 100 bucks from an older couple.. 183,211 miles.. Runs excellent and nice cold ac.. no problems... nice shape for the age..Mines a maron or light color..
My mother had a 1995 Ford Escort in white station wagon. I don’t remembered it had automatic seat belts in it. My sister had a 1991 with automatic seatbelts in it.
2 of my friends had these exact cars one was red and the other was white..the head gaskets both went on them as they all inevitably do with those all the way up to the focus... BUT!! The best part of both of my friends cars in order to get power to pass someone on the highway u had to turn off the AC for the engine to rev past 2300 RPM lmao they were such awesome cars
I'm buying mine for 500 and it's just in need of paint. I'm shocked it's got 160k miles on mine for a 95 it being August 2018..hey man it's actually a cool little wagon. Very clean I'm going to add a few things to it and drive up the price to 1600. Maybe I'll re do the wiring in it maybe push to start? A nice 19inch fold down screen. I'll tint the windows. I'll install a set of speakers with a nice amp. Maybe some other things too. I get my car parts for 90% the price from a store we owned in the 80s they give me 90% off free for my dad. We had 9 stores sold the store name the company. Otherwise I WOULDNT spend money like I'd have to for all the work. Lol
Hey bro it's a nice addition. The GT version is so cooool but I'll find out the color for you bud. Great review. Let me know if there's other problems down the road
I bought one brand new in 95 13,000$ the canadian edition was better lx had everthing i kept it 10 years and then had a new car but give it to a family member! The car did 300,000km with only changing oil, breakes and one timming belt that broke at 180,000 while i was driving but engine did not get damage this car have a protection engine turn off! I love the car it was dark green! At -35c started like on a warm day!
My first car was a 99 Escort Zx2 and when it was handed down to my sister the headliner started to sag horribly as well. Had little to no problems with that car
So, what are you gonna do with it?? I had a ride once on one with a black interior and a manual transmission and i don't remember that much but the back seats were comfy, lol.

Where did you find one? I haven't seen a 90's Ford wagon on the road since probably 2007. Figured they all broke down. I'm looking for a 94 or 95 wagon myself, it was my first car back in 2005.
The one I drive was from one of my dad's co-workers who had it sitting in his yard for years. My dad bought it from the guy and I bought it from my dad. I do see a couple on the road near where I live in the St. Louis area. It's cool driving past one and us both waving.
I have the exact same car,76 escort lx wagon, same collar, all gray interior. and 76,000 mile also.it also has the outside widow trim molding rotting off.
@@JoeyTofMetroMusic so there's a 96 that's for sale that I don't know if I should get it I just wish the back seats and headrest to prevent any whiplash and not sure if that model is faster and the MPG on it I'll do a test drive but if you know if you could let me know thank you
NS With any used car if you have a friend who is a mechanic, bring that person with you to look over the car. I got lucky, I was looking for a small car because parking is tough where I work, and the owner of my escort was an 88 YO woman who only drove the car from home to the supermarket etc and kept it in her garage. You have to remember a car that old no matter how good a shape it’s in is still 90’s design, technology, and safety requirements for the time period. I’m glad I still have cassette tapes no CD player or satellite in my escort. Good luck to you.
@@JoeyTofMetroMusic yes I truly agree someone to bring along with me who can check the car out as well. They don't make cars like how they used to all these extra features like GPS and Camera just its overall design of cars it just doesn't hug you it doesn't feel amazing you pay so much extra for stuff that I personally don't even use if I need GPS I just use my phone I don't even need a backup camera I just turn my head like the traditional way you know I don't even like these newer cars at all and you pay an arm and a leg for bulky cars that don't even look right. It's like having my own time machine haha no but seriously I wish I could go back in time who wants to be during these times anyways the worst time to live in. If I could I would go back into any other time probably the 80s.

The best idea Ford had turning to Mazda for help. After 90 Escort night and day compred to Pre 91. I doubt any of those would last as long.

What are the white things at the top of the door by the windows? Does the paint there tend to fade or what are they
They are coated in a plastic material. It curls up and falls off. My neighbor masked hers off and painted it black
A cheap solution is to strip the plastic and sandpaper the aluminum underneath to shine

If you still have this Escort wagon, could you kindly replacing the beeping sound for the seatbelt reminder with a chime from a 1992-95 Ford Taurus?
Could you kindly replace the Toyota-like beeping sound for the seatbelt reminder with the regular early 90s Ford chime sound?

I have the exact same car,76 escort lx wagon, same collar, all gray interior. and 76,000 mile also.it also has the outside widow trim molding rotting off.
They all do that.
What is the price
I have a 95 escort (same color) with 47,000 miles on it.
How does it drive and how is it on gas?
It drives fine, I don’t push it because it’s only 88HP, and it’s not bad on gas 25-30 depending on stop and go.
My dad had that exact same car with that exact same color
Yo tuve una del mismo año y del mismo color qué la del video por 5 años, la vendí y hace 2 años y hasta el día de hoy me arrepiento de haberla dejado ir.
