I met Dream Theater in 2012. It was Friday, June 22. I waited at my computer for tickets to go on sale. I must have purchased the very first tickets because I was able to get front row, center stage. I'll say it was the best concert I've have seen. It was a small place where there wasn't a fence in between the stage and the audience. The stage was at my knees when sitting. James was 2 feet in front of me. What an amazing experience. I hope to re-live it again when MP begins touring with the band.
@@dionysisdaras1289Mike Mangini the best Dream Theater drummer for all time. It will be impossible to play Mangini drum parts for Portnoy. Mike Mangini is better than Portnoy. Portnoy plays always the same simple drum sequences.
@@DanielSilva-fq1ozAfter watching him attempt to play some Danny Carey, I'm sure he'll do just fine. He won't be matching Mangini's parts note by note, and he doesn't need to. Just like Mangini didn't match Portnoy's parts note by note either.
I like the filter (flanger maybe?) on the guitar on this version. The album (along with the more recent AVFTTOTW) is a bit too clean with each instrument a bit too 'individual' sounding. Makes it a little sterile sounding, plus the keyboard sections always sound kind of cheesy and video-gamey in isolation (instrumental versions of tracks normally end up sounding a bit butt during the section where there'd normally be a layer of singing), so having the instruments gel together into a whole always makes it all sound much better than if you can clearly seperate each player. I want to be able to hear each player, but it sound also always sound like a musical 'whole' IMO. Not a fan of the effects they tended to stick over James after this point, but for the guitar and maybe bass it can add a bit of 'grunge' that glues everything together a bit better.

One of my favourite DT songs. Fun to play on drums.
As a drummer and dream theater fan I agree
Also guitar riff not so really complicated as usually they made.
On the guitar too. Lots of fun. And easy to headbang while playing
"Fun to play on drums" Huhh!?
Don't be Delusional...! You Delusional Boy! hUHh!!
It's one of the best 7 string riffs Petrucci has ever made, and I love the song, too.
I love that Mike is really enjoying it 😁 he really is a blessing to the great band DT.
2010 Labrie was so powerful..
agreee
His highs are definitely not that good nowadays, but his mids for example are still strong imo.
The runs that Mangini plays on the drums cannot be replayed the same by Portnoy. Mangini is just unmatched.
Mangini is a goner my man,not unmached
You're already invalidated - Learn to spell first, "my man".@@dionysisdaras1289
Without Mangini, DT never be the same level again. Mangini is just unmatched you are right
@@yakolayevyak1629Thank you

Picking mangini is never wrong.
This song makes me remember someone that I miss very much.
Band of true artists.... ❤
Great Vid ! Thanks
Not enough blast beats 😊

2012: No playbacks
2022: Studio vocals + James is singing "that part" a bit lower
Unfortunately vocalists get old much quicker than the rest. I would rather have a diminished James vs some replacement.
James is now 60. Right before Breaking the Fourth Wall, that was his last hurrah. Now he does what he can with what he has
