What really makes me wonder "hmhm.. Why that?" is that Big Boss, here as well as in GZ, really stopped talking. I can understand, perfectly, why is that... But sometimes it really is... A LOT of silence while someone is giving you a serious, heart/brain breaking discussion.
He listens and tries to understand. After all, he tries to get his revenge on Cipher so every bit of information ist important for him to listen to and think about
Remember that when they were getting mother base ready for the nuclear inspection in Ground Zeroes, they kept the minimum amount of soldiers on the base so everything went right. During the attack, they were probably stationed somewhere else and were called back after the attack on mother base. And the MSF soldiers that were left made Diamond Dogs with Kaz. And I know my Medical Team was Level 99 in Peace Walker lol
I have the feeling that Big Boss meets Kaz for the first time after the coma when he rescues him, because of how emotive that scene and the one where Ocelot hands him the glasses are.
It's a classic that you could catch a cold in the snowy areas (Shadow Moses in MGS1) and take a medicine to fix it, or sneezing in the rain (Tanker in MGS2) or even leeches in MGS3!. Maybe assuming that the climate of the desert (sandstorms, temperature in the day / night, etc) affect Big Boss (various symptoms of dehydration), he could drink water to restore his "psyche". Like other drinks in PW. It's a nitpicky idea but who knows.

I'll add to your chronological outlining of events between the hospital and Afghanistan by theorizing that Big Boss' rehabilitation will most likely be interactive by way of tutorial (via CQC and firing range training) in order for new players to learn the controls
I'm thinking Skull Face never intended Big Boss to die, hence luring him away from Mother Base in GZ. He then sends XOF to the hospital during PP to retrieve Big Boss and kill the witnesses, possibly having gotten info from Kaz through torture, or simply capturing Kaz at the same time as sending his troops to the hospital. He wants Big Boss to help him take down Zero, so blaming as much bad shit on Zero as possible helps strengthen Big Boss' hatred for Zero, making him easier to manipulate.
The4thSnake IF Skull Face never wanted Big Boss to die... why did he plant not 1 but 2 bombs in Paz's body. He obviously knew that he would come to rescue Paz and Chico... but I agree with the second part of your statement. I do think Skull Face is trying to put hatred into Big Boss so they can take down Cipher together since they both want revenge.
Hylian Hero Skull Face originally intended to kill Big Boss, but as he is still alive, Skull Face adapts and opts for "Plan B", instead manipulating and tricking BB into fighting Cipher.
Something's been bothering me for some time, now. According to Metal Gear lore, agent Eva (AKA Big Mama) escaped China after she returned with a fabricated version of the Philosopher's Legacy. In MGS4, she told Old Snake she met Big Boss again some time later in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. As far as I'm aware, Eva doesn't make an appearance in either Portable Ops or Peace Walker. So is it possible we'll meet Eva in The Phantom Pain? If so, it's possible that the Vietnam jungle will be another open location in the game- possibly with a more urban landscape.

for some reason when Ocelot says "let the Legend come back to life" I think of The Boss because there is a scene in MGS3 where she makes her Horse lift up on two legs just like Big Boss in this scene, I think it was their second encounter in MGS3!
Ocelot might have also been betrayed by Cypher... considering they worked together (albeit Ocelot was unaware who he was working with) during the San Hieronymou business in Portable Ops. Ocelot's condition for joining the Patriots was he was in so long as Big Boss was in as well.

Even for someone like Big Boss, a professional soldier of nearly super-human abilities, it would take more than a few weeks to overcome the atrophy of a nearly decade-long coma, as well as the trauma of losing an arm. I'd say months, with years before he could return to his regular duties at his former capacity.
9 years of laying in a bed would cause serious muscle degeneration. So walking is a big feat my guess is he recovered so quickly because they gave him steroids.
Okay, I got the perfect ending for MGSVTPP: after the credits roll, the screen fades back in, this time showing Outer Heaven at night. The camera flys down, and goes around one of the struts, going in a spiral until it gets to the ledge that is just above the sea, lower down on the strut. The camera is on the floor of the platform, close to the edge. It sits there for a second, then suddenly a sneaking suit-clad hand reaches up, and then another hand, and you see a person climb up wearing a scuba tank and mask, with night-vision goggles covering their face. Then they crawl forward a little, the camera now a little above them, and then they get up on one knee. The guy then pulls his scuba tank and mask off, then the camera gets close to their face as they take off their goggles. Now you can see the man looks like a young Big-Boss, you see him pull out a radio and dial in a number. You then hear David Hayter's voice say "This is Solid Snake. Come in..." then you hear Keifer Sutherland's voice say over the radio, "Excellent, Snake. Execute Infiltration mission N-313." Then Solid Snake gets up and walks out of camera view as you hear the bass they play at the beginning of every mission in Ground Zeroes. Then it displays the date in the corner as 1995. Just saying, that would an awesome ending. Basically just a remake of the intro to Metal Gear from the 1987 MSX game. :D
It's also important to note that, Ground Zeroes' events took place to obstruct MSF. That being said, you are missing one very important note.....The Hospital that Big Boss, Kaz, etc. are in after the helicopter crash. In MGS4, Big Boss tells Snake that Zero kept him alive (on ice) for a reason. That creepy hospital is not some nearby general hospital-look at how it's raided when news of Big Boss's awakening reaches Zero. What makes you think that they let Kaz, the co-founder of MSF, walk away with a medical bill? Kaz has been captive nine years, too.

Solidus has no emotional connection to Kaz. He has no memories. He's 12-maybe11. So what do you think happened to Kaz in the moments he was in the hospital? You think they patched him up, and sent him home with a medical bill? "Oh, this group called Cipher just tried to wipe us out, Doc-no big deal-I'll be on my way, now." Zero IS a Patriot. Zero needed Big Boss alive, just in case anything were to happen to the twin Snakes-he was a cell-bank for him. Also, what do Soviets have to do with Skull Face's men? U.S. Marines are all over Ground Zeroes-holding Chico and Paz, but XOF and Skull Face are the ones who collected them.
DADchs13 The whole point of Ground Zeroes, which was blatantly foreshadowed at the end of Peace Walker, is that MSF were naive to think that they could go about their ways scot-free. Eventually the world comes after them. Kaz is essential to MSF. Why on Earth-how on Earth could you think that Cipher would let him walk out of that hospital? Exactly. Ocelot says Kaz had bodyguards-why would he need bodyguards? He was in a hospital bed!!! Similar to mob movies when a target is in a hospital bed, after surviving an attempt on their life, and enemies find out the hospital they're being held in, and come to assassinate the target. They just shut MSF down (Cipher/Zero) so why do you think they'd let him go back into building ANOTHER MSF??? Ocelot took it upon himself to pick up where Big Boss left off. He is who was truly watching over him for nine years. He made a promise to The Boss, and idolizes Big Boss.

Ahh Yong nice job matching the "WOAHHH OHHH" w/ the horse...seems more majestic. Something I wanna give my two cents on, I don't think the bodies of Kaz's bodyguards are the one's being cremated, I think they are the bodies of (what people assune) the Psycho Mantis controlled soldiers who attack both Big Boss and mostly like soldiers who were able to resist. It makes their death more powerful and hard on Big Boss because he killed them with his own hands, rather than bodyguards he never really knew...
Yong, the old gesture is a reference of Big Boss's CQC (MGS3). Now seems like a respect gesture to Big Boss (because he is a legend). In MGS4 Ocelot know how to fight CQC, he learned from Big Boss (fight with him in MGS3).

Nice video, Yong. I'm thinking that maybe they will treat the time between Big Boss getting back to Mother Base and Kaz's capture as a tutorial? Maybe during his physical therapy, in the later stages at least, they'll have him work with some of the Mother Base soldiers so new players can get some early work in on using CQC, sneaking controls and such, and maybe even give us the basics on how to use the prosthetic arm, such as using it to create noise? I dunno, that's just my theory on it.
One thing to keep in mind when Ocelot talks about "we" losing "our chance at revenge" is that before the Peace Walker Incident, if counting Portable Ops are canon [which, it seems, has to be in some fashion for The Patriots to even be founded properly], Ocelot joined The Patriots under the condition that Big Boss also will. In their split, BB formed the MSF while Zero continued to create the code name Cipher, which was the driving force behind the XOF attack on Mother Base. Ocelot is still technically part of The Patriots, and through information obtained in the epilogue of MGS4, we know that he, BB, and EVA formed the second Patriots faction. Considering that there then formed an internal war of The Patriots, with BB's faction remnants and Zero's faction seeking to wipe each other out, that could be why Ocelot is trying to aid Big Boss, aside from just his Big Boss idolization. The second Patriots faction could, in a strange way, be aiding Diamond Dogs.
this mission is similar to the GZ mission, in that you need to explore and gather intel (the documents here and Chico's tape back then) to complete the mission. but knowing where to go speeds things up, making your first playthrough truly memorable and challenging.
I don't agree about Kaz building the new base. If you remember the hospital scene, Kaz is with Snake in the hospital. So unless he had a much quicker recovery than BB, there's no way he would have any time to build it. And considering that BB got the least amount of damage because he was shielded from the explosion by that soldier.
Actually I'm almost certain Kaz had a much quicker recovery than Big Boss because Kaz didn't fall into a coma. He would have been pretty banged up after Ground Zeroes sure, but there's no way it would have taken him 9 years to recover.
Ocelot clearly states that Kaz had BODYGUARDS. This means he was in the hospital until Cipher came to take him away. Zero wants MSF GONE. Kaz was unable to defend himself-and Cipher came to take Kaz captive, (IN THE HOSPITAL) for nine years.
03:06 have you considered the possibility that Diamond Dogs was already up and running when Big Boss awakened from his coma? What if Ocelot and Kaz started Diamond Dogs and it was already a well-oiled machine?

I just realized something; Ocelot says that there are a several soviet outposts placed around Afghanistan, which we already know is FREAKIN' HUGE in comparison to Camp Omega. A lot of people are saying that they're worried that these large maps won't have much to them. Well, let me put something in perspective: we already know that there are a lot of bases in Afghanistan alone, let's say 20, and each one is as big, or bigger, than Camp Omega, and each outpost is uniquely designed, and each of these bases has its own secrets for players to find; its own soldiers, tanks, vehicles, artillery, prisoners, resources, intel, ect. All for the player to find, scout, and infiltrate, using their own methods and creating their own experiences for their playthrough. If you ask me, I don't think we have anything to worry about

Nah, the dialogue about diamond dogs takes place in the chopper after snake saves kaz. In the new trailer there is a scene where Kaz points to the symbol on the Jacket and then says something. fits with the "you see this ? Diamond dogs, our new home"
Hey Maybe the Diamond dogs MotherBase is just the repaired Mother Base from Ground Zeroes and Peace Walker, because if you play the battle against ZEKE and see the Endsequence, you'll notive, that Mother Base was already painted in orange. It's also noteable in the Endsequenz of Ground Zeroes, but as clear as in PW because of the fire reflections
Ocelot kept Big Boss's dream of "soldiers without borders" alive, while Boss was in a coma-Ocelot is the one who watched over him, and kept tabs on Kaz. Big Boss feels as though he owes him, now. He's won Boss over.
Many people complain BB are silent in this demo, I believe he silent because of psychological trauma...First he lose MSF mother base and soldier, then Paz death, helicopter crash, coma for 9 years, escape hospital from hunting by XOF unit , and now Kaz captured by soviet army. Everything bad are happen to him, Kojima want to make BB have a heart feeling just like a normal people. That is my theory why BB less talk. Sorry for my bad English.
i think the reason your horse poops has some role to play in the stealth element of the game. Myabe an enemy uniy will slip on the scat and become alert to your presence or maybe they will be ablle to track you or something cool like that

Notice how Ocelot said you have to handle this mission on your own...Possibly hinting that you might be able to perform other missions with members of your diamond dogs members. Or Considering this is an intro with a tutorial could be the first mission to get the player used to new gameplay and following missions allow you to infiltrate other bases online with friends
In both GZ and TPP "solo infiltration"is mentioned on the cut scene, it makes me wonder if there will be missons were snake infiltrates the place alongside DD soldiers, or maybe coop missions.

Yong, I hope you saw this in my other comments, but someone that played the demo told me that she did not get/missed the feature of customizing the color of Mother Base. So Mother Base is supposed to have the rusty orange color. Similar to Big Shell in MGS 2
Also ">300x the size of Ground Zeroes" implies 3 large maps and some smaller ones. I'm willing to bet the third map is spoiler heavy plot wise, hence the lack of a reveal of it, perhaps Outer Heaven? Depends if we're relying on the Metal Gear or MGS4 Database timeline.
In regards to the hand gesture, pointing in some countries could be considered offense so perhaps he modified it for the mission and as not to irk the new recruits of Mother Base.

Does anyone know if Miller's location will be different with each play through? I personally would like this idea to make it much more harder to play because you would not know which outpost he will be in. But I am just curious if anyone knows or has heard anything about things such as Miller's location to be different with each play through.
Kudos to you, because Kojima has said that each player will have complete and total control as to how our stories pan out-stating that 100 players will have 100 different stories. So let me tell you why you're RIGHT. Ocelot says, "not much time..." I think Yong is wrong in assuming that Kaz and Snake were back together, and that Kaz "went on a mission" Ocelot clearly states that Kaz had BODYGUARDS. This means he was in the hospital-unable to defend himself-and Cipher came to take Kaz captive for nine years. This suggests that because Ocelot is the one who took it upon himself to build Diamond Dogs, in Kaz and Snake's respective absences, Big Boss trains under Ocelot's supervision, to get back his sharpness-this may take weeks, and based on the pace of our progress, the player, will have the option to save Miller right away, or wait a few days, and in that few days, Kaz could very well be moved from location-to-location, so maybe another player will save Kaz from another country.
I personally think Kaz and Diamond Dogs had been active long before Venom Snake reawakens; in fact, the scene where he's showing his Diamond Dogs jacket probably corresponds to the "You see this? Diamond Dogs. Our new home." line. My assumption is that Diamond Dogs operated during nine years with the public believing it was still led by Big Boss, in order for his coma to go unannounced and allow him to recover. I think the fact that Kaz is kidnapped seemingly early in the game while it starts with XOF raiding the hospital is no coincidence; most likely, during torture (which I believe involved the loss of his body parts, meaning it woul've been severe), Kaz may have unwittingly announced Big Boss's real whereabouts to his Soviet captors. Skull Face may have contacts across the world, and so one of his Soviet informants tell him of Big Boss' real whereabouts, right about the same time as Big Boss awakens. Cue Ocelot, also having learned that the Soviets know of Big Boss' location through his own role as a double agent, going to his rescue, aware that he'd probably be attacked soon. Then Snake has a few days to recover while Ocelot gathers intel on where Miller was taken, after which both go to Afghanistan and the legend comes back to life.

I am a little confused, isn't ocelot younger then snake (vic boss / big boss) but why does he look older then snake? also side note snake doesn't talk much anymore?
I remember reading somewhere that Ocelot convince Big Boss to get Kaz back so they can build another mother base. And Big Boss doesn't seem to wear the diamond dog badge. I am guessing the order is big boss wakes up, get new arm, some recovery/training, get kaz and then together with Ocelot to build the mother base. A big part of the game is building up the mother base.
I have a little theory about ocelot and his we'll wishing for the weathered hero. Being that he, ocelot is playing both sides maybe he is acting as an assessor of snakes abilities post ground zeros. The data he will collect would substantiate the reason for creating snakes three successors, solid, liquid, and solidus. Snake has always ended up being a tool or a pawn in a secret game that is being played. This is the beginning of the end for the great hero but the beginning of his true legacy. The powers that be don't want the caliber of soldier that snake is to vanished off the face of the earth so through the testing of big boss and the creation of the clones, his warrior essence will be preserved as a tool of war.... Just a thought.
I'm a bit confused about the whole three days time limit. They used the Phantom Cigar in the demo to skip a day or two. Does that actually count towards the time limit?
The E3 Presentation was made specifically for showing so what they did was remove the time limit. So they were able to show all that stuff without any interuptions. The guy says it at the beginning of the presentation. And your answer would be yes, I mean that would not make sense where BB just smokes until 3 Days and suddenly goes back to before he started smoking. It would sound like time travelling if it wouldn't affect the time limit and just "replaying" the same day over and over.
I hope the Sorrow pops up again and Ocelot learns of his heritage. Also I really hope Grey Fox is in as a major character and not just a throwaway name or unimportant NPC.
04:05 makes sense, but I'm curious why they wouldn't have sent another soldier or set of soldiers to rescue Kaz. 10 days is a long time... maybe others had been sent in and they all failed? Just seems risky for Big Boss to do it when he's still recovering.
I noticed how in your video it said 1984 in the beginning and it could be another release date of metal gear depending on the day the war started or ended so that's a possibility

While I think it makes more sense that Big Boss would need several weeks to recover after the 'hospital scene', I find it more likely plot wise that the reason Ocelot comes to the hospital to rescue Big Boss in the first place is because Kaz gets captured. Perhaps Ocelot joins Diamond Dogs by approaching Kaz while Big Boss is in his coma. Now this would mean that Big Boss woke up and recovered fully from a 9 year coma in about 9-10 days, but I wouldn't put that past Kojima.
The only reason why I'd think Ocelot would want revenge against Zero aside from admiring Snake is he realizes Zero was involved in the operation to kill The Boss.
I'd actually wager the order of events are; 1. Miller forms Diamond Dogs, his own PMC. Or rather his attempt to reform MSF in the absence of Big Boss. 2. Miller gets ambushed or his location gets raided, at which time his bodyguards are killed and he's kidnapped. 3. Ocelot, either through an act of providence, on orders from Miller, or intercepting information about the attack; in desperation to save his life acts on the knowledge he has and goes to rescue him. 4. Ocelot extracts Big Boss and briefed on the situation shortly. Big Boss demands to go rescue him. Ocelot agrees... or is possibly the one to suggest it. Never know with Ocelot. 5. Whatever transit is required; Ocelot arranges it and to have Big Boss outfitted with the prosthetic arm (conceivably Zadornov's), provided a uniform, and equipment. 6. Ocelot escorts Big Boss to the general area, and provides the relevant intelligence for the op, after which he sends him off to "Let the legend come back to life." which Big Boss then completes. 7. Propaganda. Propaganda. Propaganda. To explain myself; I say Miller is the founder of Diamond Dogs because the GDC2013 trailer has him seeming to introduce it, and to who else would that be if not Big Boss? I doubt extremely that Miller would merely wait around and pray for Big Boss to wake up so he can have a CO to be a second in command for again. I say Miller was "ambushed" because Miller is NOT known as a legendary field operative. He manages base development in PW and handles training and logistics in every incarnation we see or hear of him. I don't feel like he's going to appoint a new subcommander to get his own hands dirty. I also feel "bodyguard" has the connotation that Miller wasn't actively in combat. Whereas describing the men with him as an "escort" or "squad" would suggest he was on some active assignment. I also write off any major recuperation period because... well first it's just not dramatic. Second: Big Boss isn't as young as he once was but he got back in action after having The Boss beat him up and toss him into a ravine in a week. When he suffered numerous injuries including fractures, and what I'd surmise, was a fracture-dislocation of his arm. In that same vein; Big Boss actually seems reather functional momentarily after being roused from his coma. He flounders the first 7ish minutes; but we see him bipedal and running in the same setting later. He's also wearing a chest holster with some kind of pistol. We see him riding a galloping horse while not in the saddle, and shooting a shotgun at the ghost rider pivoting something like 90 degrees to his left flank. He's also seen driving an ambulance. All this before even getting fitted with the robotic hand. I don't care what drugs are in him. If he is doing that in a matter of minutes after leaving his hospital bed? He is displaying such fine motor control, coordination, as well as muscle and tendon strength in those actions alone; he is way beyond ahead of the atrophy recovery curve. To the point he doesn't need physical therapy as much as a fitness regimen. The framing and phrasing all of this seems like this right now is Big Boss' return. They may have even rode that same white horse all the way there. Ocelot is telling Big Boss the details of the events surrounding the attack on Miller, as if he hasn't heard this before, I feel this is doubly true including the sunglasses, which are handed off from Ocelot to Snake. I'd read more into Ocelot's "Let the legend come back to life". Kaz's initial reaction to his rescue is a surprised "Snake?". I'd imagine the following sentence "What took you so long?" is more fitting a jab at his coma, than a 10 day imprisonment. Onto how-to propaganda. Any scenario involving Big Boss's return and the successful rescue of Kaz would be a boost to morale. However it would be **so much more powerful** to have a long-thought dead hero, whom soldiers worship and these soldiers in particular follow his ideology/legacy, show up completely out of nowhere to carry CO home on his shoulder. It'd be so much easier to work the demon element in; "I came back from Hell to rescue my comrade." or the like. That's just so synergistic to the story. Rather than it just being a fly or die moment that would shut up the detractors during the training montage. Oh and I'd like to go back to this 10 day imprisonment. I ask a simple question. Would Big Boss wait 10 days? Even if Ocelot is giving exposition for the player/audience when briefing him on Miller's abduction? Even if I'm completely on the wrong track with everything else, and Yong's closer with there being some kind of regimented recuperation? I don't think Big Boss would patiently finish any reasonable PT program. To the tune of say 14-20 weeks. Under the assumption Big Boss is in the custody of Diamond Dogs; he should hear of it quickly. I doubt he'd do anything but immediately prep for sortie. Whether or not his doctor/trainer says "You need 10 days more at least.".
His prosthetic arm is pretty much Zadornov's from Peace Walker. It would be really funny if he could use the "ROCKET PEACE!" feature of the arm, lol. And it's also a lighter.

So, I'm confused about something; obviously Big Boss loses his left arm and gets a prosthetic, but if you remember from the flashbacks in MGS4 ( i.e. when it shows his atrophied body from being in his nanomachine induced coma) he has a normal arm. Remember that when they were getting mother base ready for the nuclear inspection in Ground Zeroes, they kept the minimum amount of soldiers on the base so everything went right. During the attack, they were probably stationed somewhere else and were called back after the attack on mother base. And the MSF soldiers that were left made Diamond Dogs with Kaz. And I know my Medical Team was Level 99 in Peace Walker lol

Maybe assuming that the climate of the desert (sandstorms, temperature in the day / night, etc) affect Big Boss (various symptoms of dehydration), he could drink water to restore his "psyche". Like other drinks in PW.

I'm thinking Skull Face never intended Big Boss to die, hence luring him away from Mother Base in GZ. He then sends XOF to the hospital during PP to retrieve Big Boss and kill the witnesses, possibly having gotten info from Kaz through torture, or simply capturing Kaz at the same time as sending his troops to the hospital.
He wants Big Boss to help him take down Zero, so blaming as much bad shit on Zero as possible helps strengthen Big Boss' hatred for Zero, making him easier to manipulate.
The4thSnake IF Skull Face never wanted Big Boss to die... why did he plant not 1 but 2 bombs in Paz's body. He obviously knew that he would come to rescue Paz and Chico... but I agree with the second part of your statement. I do think Skull Face is trying to put hatred into Big Boss so they can take down Cipher together since they both want revenge.
Hylian Hero Skull Face originally intended to kill Big Boss, but as he is still alive, Skull Face adapts and opts for "Plan B", instead manipulating and tricking BB into fighting Cipher.

Something's been bothering me for some time, now. According to Metal Gear lore, agent Eva (AKA Big Mama) escaped China after she returned with a fabricated version of the Philosopher's Legacy. In MGS4, she told Old Snake she met Big Boss again some time later in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
As far as I'm aware, Eva doesn't make an appearance in either Portable Ops or Peace Walker. So is it possible we'll meet Eva in The Phantom Pain? If so, it's possible that the Vietnam jungle will be another open location in the game- possibly with a more urban landscape.

Even for someone like Big Boss, a professional soldier of nearly super-human abilities, it would take more than a few weeks to overcome the atrophy of a nearly decade-long coma, as well as the trauma of losing an arm. I'd say months, with years before he could return to his regular duties at his former capacity.
Actually, if you watch the hospital escape scene, Big Boss could already jog and he could even shoot when he was on the horse with Ocelot.
9 years of laying in a bed would cause serious muscle degeneration. So walking is a big feat my guess is he recovered so quickly because they gave him steroids.
Okay, I got the perfect ending for MGSVTPP: after the credits roll, the screen fades back in, this time showing Outer Heaven at night. The camera flys down, and goes around one of the struts, going in a spiral until it gets to the ledge that is just above the sea, lower down on the strut. The camera is on the floor of the platform, close to the edge. It sits there for a second, then suddenly a sneaking suit-clad hand reaches up, and then another hand, and you see a person climb up wearing a scuba tank and mask, with night-vision goggles covering their face. Then they crawl forward a little, the camera now a little above them, and then they get up on one knee. The guy then pulls his scuba tank and mask off, then the camera gets close to their face as they take off their goggles. Now you can see the man looks like a young Big-Boss, you see him pull out a radio and dial in a number. You then hear David Hayter's voice say "This is Solid Snake. Come in..." then you hear Keifer Sutherland's voice say over the radio, "Excellent, Snake. Execute Infiltration mission N-313." Then Solid Snake gets up and walks out of camera view as you hear the bass they play at the beginning of every mission in Ground Zeroes. Then it displays the date in the corner as 1995.
Just saying, that would an awesome ending. Basically just a remake of the intro to Metal Gear from the 1987 MSX game. :D

It's also important to note that, Ground Zeroes' events took place to obstruct MSF. That being said, you are missing one very important note.....The Hospital that Big Boss, Kaz, etc. are in after the helicopter crash. In MGS4, Big Boss tells Snake that Zero kept him alive (on ice) for a reason. That creepy hospital is not some nearby general hospital-look at how it's raided when news of Big Boss's awakening reaches Zero. What makes you think that they let Kaz, the co-founder of MSF, walk away with a medical bill? Kaz has been captive nine years, too.

Ocelot says Kaz had bodyguards-why would he need bodyguards? He was in a hospital bed!!! Similar to mob movies when a target is in a hospital bed, after surviving an attempt on their life, and enemies find out the hospital they're being held in, and come to assassinate the target. They just shut MSF down (Cipher/Zero) so why do you think they'd let him go back into building ANOTHER MSF??? Ocelot took it upon himself to pick up where Big Boss left off. He is who was truly watching over him for nine years. He made a promise to The Boss, and idolizes Big Boss.

Something I wanna give my two cents on, I don't think the bodies of Kaz's bodyguards are the one's being cremated, I think they are the bodies of (what people assune) the Psycho Mantis controlled soldiers who attack both Big Boss and mostly like soldiers who were able to resist. It makes their death more powerful and hard on Big Boss because he killed them with his own hands, rather than bodyguards he never really knew...
Yong, the old gesture is a reference of Big Boss's CQC (MGS3).
Now seems like a respect gesture to Big Boss (because he is a legend).
In MGS4 Ocelot know how to fight CQC, he learned from Big Boss (fight with him in MGS3).

Nice video, Yong. I'm thinking that maybe they will treat the time between Big Boss getting back to Mother Base and Kaz's capture as a tutorial? Maybe during his physical therapy, in the later stages at least, they'll have him work with some of the Mother Base soldiers so new players can get some early work in on using CQC, sneaking controls and such, and maybe even give us the basics on how to use the prosthetic arm, such as using it to create noise?
I dunno, that's just my theory on it.
One thing to keep in mind when Ocelot talks about "we" losing "our chance at revenge" is that before the Peace Walker Incident, if counting Portable Ops are canon [which, it seems, has to be in some fashion for The Patriots to even be founded properly], Ocelot joined The Patriots under the condition that Big Boss also will. In their split, BB formed the MSF while Zero continued to create the code name Cipher, which was the driving force behind the XOF attack on Mother Base. Ocelot is still technically part of The Patriots, and through information obtained in the epilogue of MGS4, we know that he, BB, and EVA formed the second Patriots faction. Considering that there then formed an internal war of The Patriots, with BB's faction remnants and Zero's faction seeking to wipe each other out, that could be why Ocelot is trying to aid Big Boss, aside from just his Big Boss idolization. The second Patriots faction could, in a strange way, be aiding Diamond Dogs.
this mission is similar to the GZ mission, in that you need to explore and gather intel (the documents here and Chico's tape back then) to complete the mission. but knowing where to go speeds things up, making your first playthrough truly memorable and challenging.
I don't agree about Kaz building the new base. If you remember the hospital scene, Kaz is with Snake in the hospital. So unless he had a much quicker recovery than BB, there's no way he would have any time to build it. And considering that BB got the least amount of damage because he was shielded from the explosion by that soldier.

Actually I'm almost certain Kaz had a much quicker recovery than Big Boss because Kaz didn't fall into a coma. He would have been pretty banged up after Ground Zeroes sure, but there's no way it would have taken him 9 years to recover.

Ocelot clearly states that Kaz had BODYGUARDS. This means he was in the hospital until Cipher came to take him away. Zero wants MSF GONE. Kaz was unable to defend himself-and Cipher came to take Kaz captive, (IN THE HOSPITAL) for nine years.
03:06 have you considered the possibility that Diamond Dogs was already up and running when Big Boss awakened from his coma? What if Ocelot and Kaz started Diamond Dogs and it was already a well-oiled machine?

I just realized something; Ocelot says that there are a several soviet outposts placed around Afghanistan, which we already know is FREAKIN' HUGE in comparison to Camp Omega. A lot of people are saying that they're worried that these large maps won't have much to them. Well, let me put something in perspective: we already know that there are a lot of bases in Afghanistan alone, let's say 20, and each one is as big, or bigger, than Camp Omega, and each outpost is uniquely designed, and each of these bases has its own secrets for players to find; its own soldiers, tanks, vehicles, artillery, prisoners, resources, intel, ect. All for the player to find, scout, and infiltrate, using their own methods and creating their own experiences for their playthrough. If you ask me, I don't think we have anything to worry about

Nah, the dialogue about diamond dogs takes place in the chopper after snake saves kaz. In the new trailer there is a scene where Kaz points to the symbol on the Jacket and then says something. fits with the "you see this ? Diamond dogs, our new home"
Hey Maybe the Diamond dogs MotherBase is just the repaired Mother Base from Ground Zeroes and Peace Walker, because if you play the battle against ZEKE and see the Endsequence, you'll notive, that Mother Base was already painted in orange. It's also noteable in the Endsequenz of Ground Zeroes, but as clear as in PW because of the fire reflections

Many people complain BB are silent in this demo, I believe he silent because of psychological trauma...First he lose MSF mother base and soldier, then Paz death, helicopter crash, coma for 9 years, escape hospital from hunting by XOF unit , and now Kaz captured by soviet army. i think the reason your horse poops has some role to play in the stealth element of the game. Myabe an enemy uniy will slip on the scat and become alert to your presence or maybe they will be ablle to track you or something cool like that

Notice how Ocelot said you have to handle this mission on your own...Possibly hinting that you might be able to perform other missions with members of your diamond dogs members. Or Considering this is an intro with a tutorial could be the first mission to get the player used to new gameplay and following missions allow you to infiltrate other bases online with friends
In both GZ and TPP "solo infiltration"is mentioned on the cut scene, it makes me wonder if there will be missons were snake infiltrates the place alongside DD soldiers, or maybe coop missions.

Yong, I hope you saw this in my other comments, but someone that played the demo told me that she did not get/missed the feature of customizing the color of Mother Base. So Mother Base is supposed to have the rusty orange color. Similar to Big Shell in MGS 2
Also ">300x the size of Ground Zeroes" implies 3 large maps and some smaller ones. I'm willing to bet the third map is spoiler heavy plot wise, hence the lack of a reveal of it, perhaps Outer Heaven? Depends if we're relying on the Metal Gear or MGS4 Database timeline.
In regards to the hand gesture, pointing in some countries could be considered offense so perhaps he modified it for the mission and as not to irk the new recruits of Mother Base.

I think Yong is wrong in assuming that Kaz and Snake were back together, and that Kaz "went on a mission" Ocelot clearly states that Kaz had BODYGUARDS. This means he was in the hospital-unable to defend himself-and Cipher came to take Kaz captive for nine years. This suggests that because Ocelot is the one who took it upon himself to build Diamond Dogs, in Kaz and Snake's respective absences, Big Boss trains under Ocelot's supervision, to get back his sharpness-this may take weeks, and based on the pace of our progress, the player, will have the option to save Miller right away, or wait a few days, and in that few days, Kaz could very well be moved from location-to-location, so maybe another player will save Kaz from another country.
I personally think Kaz and Diamond Dogs had been active long before Venom Snake reawakens; in fact, the scene where he's showing his Diamond Dogs jacket probably corresponds to the "You see this? Diamond Dogs. Our new home." line.
My assumption is that Diamond Dogs operated during nine years with the public believing it was still led by Big Boss, in order for his coma to go unannounced and allow him to recover. I think the fact that Kaz is kidnapped seemingly early in the game while it starts with XOF raiding the hospital is no coincidence; most likely, during torture (which I believe involved the loss of his body parts, meaning it woul've been severe), Kaz may have unwittingly announced Big Boss's real whereabouts to his Soviet captors. Skull Face may have contacts across the world, and so one of his Soviet informants tell him of Big Boss' real whereabouts, right about the same time as Big Boss awakens. Cue Ocelot, also having learned that the Soviets know of Big Boss' location through his own role as a double agent, going to his rescue, aware that he'd probably be attacked soon. Then Snake has a few days to recover while Ocelot gathers intel on where Miller was taken, after which both go to Afghanistan and the legend comes back to life.

I remember reading somewhere that Ocelot convince Big Boss to get Kaz back so they can build another mother base. And Big Boss doesn't seem to wear the diamond dog badge. I am guessing the order is big boss wakes up, get new arm, some recovery/training, get kaz and then together with Ocelot to build the mother base. A big part of the game is building up the mother base.
I have a little theory about ocelot and his we'll wishing for the weathered hero. Being that he, ocelot is playing both sides maybe he is acting as an assessor of snakes abilities post ground zeros. The data he will collect would substantiate the reason for creating snakes three successors, solid, liquid, and solidus. Snake has always ended up being a tool or a pawn in a secret game that is being played. This is the beginning of the end for the great hero but the beginning of his true legacy. The powers that be don't want the caliber of soldier that snake is to vanished off the face of the earth so through the testing of big boss and the creation of the clones, his warrior essence will be preserved as a tool of war.... Just a thought.
I'm a bit confused about the whole three days time limit. They used the Phantom Cigar in the demo to skip a day or two. Does that actually count towards the time limit?

The E3 Presentation was made specifically for showing so what they did was remove the time limit. So they were able to show all that stuff without any interuptions. The guy says it at the beginning of the presentation. And your answer would be yes, I mean that would not make sense where BB just smokes until 3 Days and suddenly goes back to before he started smoking. It would sound like time travelling if it wouldn't affect the time limit and just "replaying" the same day over and over.

04:05 makes sense, but I'm curious why they wouldn't have sent another soldier or set of soldiers to rescue Kaz. 10 days is a long time... maybe others had been sent in and they all failed? Just seems risky for Big Boss to do it when he's still recovering.
I noticed how in your video it said 1984 in the beginning and it could be another release date of metal gear depending on the day the war started or ended so that's a possibility

While I think it makes more sense that Big Boss would need several weeks to recover after the 'hospital scene', I find it more likely plot wise that the reason Ocelot comes to the hospital to rescue Big Boss in the first place is because Kaz gets captured. Perhaps Ocelot joins Diamond Dogs by approaching Kaz while Big Boss is in his coma. Now this would mean that Big Boss woke up and recovered fully from a 9 year coma in about 9-10 days, but I wouldn't put that past Kojima.
I'd guess snake's recovery time is closer to a year given the level of muscle atrophy from being in a coma for such a long time.
Fair enough, but realistically it would be a very long recovery time.
The only reason why I'd think Ocelot would want revenge against Zero aside from admiring Snake is he realizes Zero was involved in the operation to kill The Boss.
Stupid point, but Ocelot could use that hand gesture when specifically addressing Big Boss. Notice how he uses the arm that Boss still has
I'd actually wager the order of events are;
1. Miller forms Diamond Dogs, his own PMC. Or rather his attempt to reform MSF in the absence of Big Boss.
2. Miller gets ambushed or his location gets raided, at which time his bodyguards are killed and he's kidnapped.
3. Ocelot, either through an act of providence, on orders from Miller, or intercepting information about the attack; in desperation to save his life acts on the knowledge he has and goes to rescue him.
4. Ocelot extracts Big Boss and briefed on the situation shortly. Big Boss demands to go rescue him. Ocelot agrees... or is possibly the one to suggest it. Never know with Ocelot.
5. Whatever transit is required; Ocelot arranges it and to have Big Boss outfitted with the prosthetic arm (conceivably Zadornov's), provided a uniform, and equipment.
6. Ocelot escorts Big Boss to the general area, and provides the relevant intelligence for the op, after which he sends him off to "Let the legend come back to life." which Big Boss then completes.
7. Propaganda. Propaganda. Propaganda.
To explain myself; I say Miller is the founder of Diamond Dogs because the GDC2013 trailer has him seeming to introduce it, and to who else would that be if not Big Boss? I doubt extremely that Miller would merely wait around and pray for Big Boss to wake up so he can have a CO to be a second in command for again.
I say Miller was "ambushed" because Miller is NOT known as a legendary field operative. He manages base development in PW and handles training and logistics in every incarnation we see or hear of him. I don't feel like he's going to appoint a new subcommander to get his own hands dirty. I also feel "bodyguard" has the connotation that Miller wasn't actively in combat. Whereas describing the men with him as an "escort" or "squad" would suggest he was on some active assignment.
I also write off any major recuperation period because... well first it's just not dramatic. Second: Big Boss isn't as young as he once was but he got back in action after having The Boss beat him up and toss him into a ravine in a week. When he suffered numerous injuries including fractures, and what I'd surmise, was a fracture-dislocation of his arm. In that same vein; Big Boss actually seems reather functional momentarily after being roused from his coma. He flounders the first 7ish minutes; but we see him bipedal and running in the same setting later. He's also wearing a chest holster with some kind of pistol. We see him riding a galloping horse while not in the saddle, and shooting a shotgun at the ghost rider pivoting something like 90 degrees to his left flank. He's also seen driving an ambulance. All this before even getting fitted with the robotic hand. I don't care what drugs are in him. If he is doing that in a matter of minutes after leaving his hospital bed? He is displaying such fine motor control, coordination, as well as muscle and tendon strength in those actions alone; he is way beyond ahead of the atrophy recovery curve. To the point he doesn't need physical therapy as much as a fitness regimen.
The framing and phrasing all of this seems like this right now is Big Boss' return. They may have even rode that same white horse all the way there. Ocelot is telling Big Boss the details of the events surrounding the attack on Miller, as if he hasn't heard this before, I feel this is doubly true including the sunglasses, which are handed off from Ocelot to Snake. I'd read more into Ocelot's "Let the legend come back to life". Kaz's initial reaction to his rescue is a surprised "Snake?". I'd imagine the following sentence "What took you so long?" is more fitting a jab at his coma, than a 10 day imprisonment.
Onto how-to propaganda. Any scenario involving Big Boss's return and the successful rescue of Kaz would be a boost to morale. However it would be **so much more powerful** to have a long-thought dead hero, whom soldiers worship and these soldiers in particular follow his ideology/legacy, show up completely out of nowhere to carry CO home on his shoulder. It'd be so much easier to work the demon element in; "I came back from Hell to rescue my comrade." or the like. That's just so synergistic to the story. Rather than it just being a fly or die moment that would shut up the detractors during the training montage.
Oh and I'd like to go back to this 10 day imprisonment. I ask a simple question. Would Big Boss wait 10 days? Even if Ocelot is giving exposition for the player/audience when briefing him on Miller's abduction? Even if I'm completely on the wrong track with everything else, and Yong's closer with there being some kind of regimented recuperation? I don't think Big Boss would patiently finish any reasonable PT program. To the tune of say 14-20 weeks. Under the assumption Big Boss is in the custody of Diamond Dogs; he should hear of it quickly. I doubt he'd do anything but immediately prep for sortie. Whether or not his doctor/trainer says "You need 10 days more at least.".
His prosthetic arm is pretty much Zadornov's from Peace Walker. It would be really funny if he could use the "ROCKET PEACE!" feature of the arm, lol. And it's also a lighter.

So, I'm confused about something; obviously Big Boss loses his left arm and gets a prosthetic, but if you remember from the flashbacks in MGS4 ( i.e. when it shows his atrophied body from being in his nanomachine induced coma) he has a normal arm. Could he have gotten a new arm similar to the one that Liquid Ocelot possesses in his insurrection, or could this be a retcon?
