One theory I realli liked about the release date was that "1984" could be the date for 18/09/14, which is also the date for TGS 2014. Maybe we will get an actual release date or release window at Tokyo Game Show this September?
1984 is one year before Marty McFly travels through time. So, Marty McFly will have bought it back then and will bring it to us on Oct 21, 2015, which is the day Marty McFly arrives when he travels to the future.
Maybe, and if im risky i would say that your theory is right. However, Kojima likes to give many clues anything related to MGS. And at the same time he wants this game to be the ultimate masterpiece. Thats why he maybe put possible release dates and when its done is gonna choose one of those. He makes happy those theorists and makes the best game ever.
David Salinas The problem with those dates is that none of them fall on a tuesday, which is normally when a new game comes out. Then again, 4 came out on June 12 which was a Thursday.
I get the feeling that "The weapon that will surpass metal gear" is not an actual weapon but rather Solid Snake. After all, he is a product of Zero's plans. Maybe that is why he returned to the US to command Foxhound. So that he could keep an eye on David. Knowing that he could be a liability, he wanted to get his trust by bonding with him and teaching him CQC and survival techniques.He sent Gray fox to Outer Heaven and kidnapped him to then send Solid Snake in hopes that he would die. Big Boss never expected him to succeed since he was Foxhound's least experienced member at the time.
Since Solid Snake is "supposed" to be the inferior one, I think it is actually a reference to Liquid. Ocelot said that what they are doing in Africa was the missing piece, and from the trailer, Liquid is in Africa.
I revealed this theory on the original red band trailer and got around 400 likes on the comment. If you came to this conclusion yourself, bravo! I want to believe this is true aswell, but it'd require the game to cover quite a few years, which isn't a bad thing however it has never happened before. The game could end along the lines of Solid sneaking up to BB, holding him up and then going in Hayters iconic voice: Kept you waiting huh? :)
well the last scene with snake shooting diamond dog soldiers he shoots 4 soldiers, but as we can see at 23:51 there are 5 people dead on the ground and the fifth one lying where big boss stood indicating that the fifth corpse is big boss, so maybe this could be some kind of nightmare like mass effect 3 or something or hallucinations by psycho mantis to torture big boss, because he feels responsible for the death of his soldiers, like he killed them and is now reliving those moments, also this would remind me of the sorrow boss fight in mgs 3
No it's not indicating that the 5th body is big boss. You just don't see the 5th body because the camera doesn't pan down to the body's location. Actually, at 23:49 if u pause it just at the right moment u actually see the dead 5th body right next to big boss's foot.
I think the "weapon" Ocelot was talking about to surpass metal gear, is Solid Snake.Not a weapon but a product of Zero's lust for power. Thus, the sons of Bigboss were created.
Contrary to you all, I believe the weapon that will surpass Metal Gear is actually what later becomes the Sons of the Patriots (SOP) system during MGS4.
I know there are quite a few inconsistencies with this theory but I theorize that Skull Face is actually Python from Portable Ops, he had history with Big Boss, he had to regulate his temp. or he would burn up, maybe he was badly burned after his fight with BB but he later found a way to stabilize his condition, and despite the fact that Skull Face told us his origin and that he speaks Hungarian, he could've faked his story, and anyone can learn Hungarian, just throwing it out there.
I think Skullface is way more involved with the Patriots than we think. I was replaying MGS2 and, when Colonel is revealed to be the AI, his face disappears to reveal a skull. The line? "We're not exactly what you'd call...human." Perhaps Skullface is a member/direct helper of the Patriots, and they put some of his personality into the AI? Also, the relevance of the quote... One of the theme songs for TPP is "Not Your Kind of People" which talks about the large divide between the singer and everybody else. Also, the demon imagery for Big Boss AND Skullface is off the charts. This all gives me reason to believe that Skullface may be directly involved with the Patriots. Dramatically so.
Something else I noticed from the last scene of the trailer, is that even though Big Boss shoots four soldiers, there's a fifth body when the camera moves. Maybe the first three soldiers were trying to approach that body, and Big Boss was stopping them, and finally ends up shooting them.
Sorry mate, but the next "iteration" of MGO is not going to comply with our traditions. PW's gameplay mechanics were more suitable than GZ. and TPP is all about customizing our open-world. The online version of MGSV should be good in it's own way. But for Kojima to call it "MGO" is as much of an insult as the fact that he's the vice president of konami and had nothing to do with the termination of MGO1 and 2.
Frank Jaeger what? Kojima himself calls it MGO. Also it is currently the only task for KP LA with collaboration from KP JP's original MGO team. These are the only known facts at this time, I really don't know what you are getting at but be assured that this MGO will surpass the last, integrate with the single payer (during the E3 game play presentation it was said your base can be infiltrated by in game factions and online factions) and have a western feel to it.
Just some visual stuff I noticed: Coral snake imagery on the prosthetic arm (Red touches yellow, your a dead fellow) the Coral Snake being the poisonous one between the confusing patterns of it and the Milk Snake reflects the "venom" within Big Boss. also at 17:00 notice the bars at the bottom of the chart here and how only the latest one extends to the left into Peace walker territory. I would guess that this more or less confirms that this is ZEKE or a modified ZEKE.
That metal gear diagram represents the size and scope of the past metal gears. The mgs5 spot is about the same size as cocoon, which way bigger than zeke. I wonder if we will get a Zeke vs Cypher's mecha just like in MGS4's ray vs rex.

What about the scene of the africans in the cage holding the diamonds and Big Boss shooting are two different scenes? It never passed through my mind that Big Boss was shooting the kids. He could be aiming and shooting at anything. We don`t even know if the scene of him shooting comes right after the cage scene. Heck, he could even be shooting at some watermelons.
This is true. I thought the same thing. If you remember last years trailer there was a scene where snake was thought to be choking chico to death but really he was choking him because he wouldn't calm down in order to rescue him.

I looked over the possible release dates. Being in the game industry you know almost every single game released comes out on a Tuesday. There are some exceptions but not many. The April release date is on a Tuesday, so some food for thought on that. ~Daley~
This comes from some research i did :Basically, the reason new DVDs, CDs and Video Games are released on Tuesdays is that rental figures and music charts are released on Mondays. It only makes sense that the studios/game companies/record companies would make their releases the next day, allowing a full week to maximize the numbers that are posted the following monday.
I also wanted to point out that quiet (in my view) was not the soldier on the helicopter. There is a large difference in the bridge of the nose that shows outside the soldiers mask, and the eyebrows are much thicker.
+YongYea also in the e3 demo when the soldiers are assigned to a unit there is a unit marked as ??? With a circle similar to poster with all the metal gears maybe that is the unit to develop metal gear
Yeah, but this is Metal Gear, the series where a Russian Colonel can channel 1,000,000 volts of electricity, the series where human cloning has been perfected by the 1970's, the series where dying soldiers can be brought back as cyborg ninjas. It shouldn't be too far fetched to believe that someone can have a shrapnel wound without suffering any brain damage. But it's a good theory as to why the horn keeps changing size and some of the crazy shit going on in the hospital.
11:45 there is a conversation between Big boss and huey, in ground zeroes, when big boss is in chopper huey says that zeek is in bottom of the ocean and all is clear for inspection or something like that.
Grey Fox is in Africa fighting a war and is saved by Big Boss before he become a part of outer heaven. He does not have any reason to attempt at BBs life.
I think the theory of it being Quiet is pretty sound. It makes sense on how she reached mother base, and the torture scene. Don't know why they would torture a mute but then again, Ocelot was the only person in the room other than the random soldier actually shocking her, and Ocelot likes to torture. I just hope she joins diamond dogs in some way, cause she would be dead useful, literally. If you could call her in to snipe some people quietly.
theexile909 I agree and I know that this might sound weird but since the whole theme of the game is revenge, maybe they're torturing her just to torture her. Like letting out anger. It's the only reason I can see for them torturing a mute person.
I'd like to offer a little more insight to the stuff about the patches from a former US Army service member. The patch on the right shoulder does not just represent a former unit, it can represent any unit a soldier has deployed with, even a current one, and soldiers will also choose the patch that they are most proud of or sentimental about to display on the right. When Big Boss was in MSF, he displayed his FOX patch, probably in remembrance of his deployment to Tselinoyarsk in Snake Eater, and with Siamond Dogs he displays the MSF patch for obvious reasons.
If I remember correctly you can make your ZEKE look exactly the way it looks in this trailer using "custom parts" you get from the side quests. Why is this not mentioned?
those red markings on the choppers are the markings on a UH-60 Black Hawk showing the air intake for the turbo shaft engine and are not used as an unit marking and the windows are very close if not the same as a UH-60 as well
Lets be real. Knowing Hideo Kojima and his obsession with perfection (nothing wrong with that). This game will most likely be coming out in a year or even more. My reasoning is that during the E3 hands-off stage demo, the presenters who were talking about the game had said that the demo that was being shown was a early Pre-Alpha version of Metal Gear Solid V- The Phantom Pain. Also with Hideo Kojima's tweet saying that he is sad that The Phantom Pain won't look as good as GTA V on next gen consoles. Hideo is working harder to perfect MGSV which might take a long time. So in short don't hold your breath in thinking that we will get MGSV this year.
1:25 I think this funeral is actually after the scene where Big Boss kills a bunch of the Diamond Dog soldiers (who were likely being controlled by Psycho Mantis).
i want to say that big boss did not shoot the kids in the cell. im pretty sure its just editing thats making you think that. i never once thought to myself that he was shooting them i beleive it is either a different scene or he is freeing them
SolidSnake560 My take on it is that it's a trick of editing (like Chrystian mentioned). Maybe when Big Boss is unloading his magazine, he's mowing down some soldiers guarding the cell. Then after giving the one prisoner a big diamond, he tells them to back away from the door so he can blow the lock with some kind of lock. But then why was he giving a diamond to the kid? Why not do it after he's out of the cell?
TorturedXeno i agree except he wasnt giving him the diamond he already had it. you see the other kids holding diamonds too. also im not too sure if it was meant to be a trick either. i think people are just assuming too much. there is no way to know what he is shooting at and people are just assuming he is shooting the kids because it shows the kids in the scene before. but what if it showed the kids after? it would have been completely different that way and nobody would have thought he was shooting them
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet. The interesting thing about Liquid's "It's not over yet" line, that you mention at 8:15, is that I think its inclusion in MGS1 was itself a throwback to Big Boss's final moments in Metal Gear 2. If you look up a video of the fight, Big Boss says "It's not over yet..." twice before erupting into flames at the end of the game. So the idea that the line would show up in Phantom Pain adds some more of that famous quote recycling that Kojima seems so fond of.
I think that the May 24th, if anything, is the release date of TPP, because is a David Bowie reference in MGS3. Major Zero in that game uses the code name "Major Tom", which is a character created originally by David Bowie. You can look this up at the MGS wiki.
Honestly, I doubt there will be a falling out between Big Boss and Diamond Dogs (during TPP anyway). If that happens during the game then do we just suddenly lose Mother Base and everything we worked for up until that point? And if it happens half way through the story for example, does that mean we would just have to do as much as we can with the base until that point comes? It would also mean there'd be nothing to do post-game.
Two options: Mother Base remains intact until the absolute end of the game. Or all of your progress is meaningless by the end and you manage Outer Heaven.
The helicopters used by XOF and Diamond dogs are Hueys. In the Peace Walker briefing file concerning the basics of the Fulton Recovery system, Kaz explains that they use a Huey to recover the soldiers, rather than a C130. The Havoc/Hind hybrid used in Ground Zeroes is likely an upgrade of one of the Hinds captured in PW. It was probably used in GZ because it has that huge Shipunov Cannon on it, which may have been deemed necessary for striking a base with multiple AA installations. Plus, Fulton was not used during GZ, and returns in The Phantom Pain.
One thing I would like to point out is that in the E3 2013 poster of The Phantom Pain, we see an X-ray image of Big Boss where you can clearly see some sort of debris in his body resembling diamonds. This might be a bit out there, but my theory is that Big Boss (and perhaps even other Diamond Dogs members) surgically plant these diamonds into their bodies as a way to "take them into battle with them". After all, it wouldn't make sense to call them "Diamond Dogs" instead of "Diamond Knives" if it's only the knives which contain diamonds. Both Big Boss and Solid Snake have been called "dogs of war", so it's pretty obvious that by "Dogs" they mean themselves. However, one diamond inconsistency is that during the 30-minute Afghanistan demo, we see Big Boss picking up some diamonds as a collectible. These appear to be normal diamonds, and not cremation ones. Unless, of course, it's a collectible in the same sense as the XOF patches from Ground Zeroes, where Big Boss had to track them down in different parts of the area. Maybe Big Boss lost the diamonds somehow, and they were scattered all over the game's locations. This seems really unlikely (and really dumb on Big Boss' part), so I wouldn't count on it. My real point is that there are probably diamonds in this game which are not made of fallen soldiers.
One thing I don't think you pointed out is that it looks like Snake is trying to revive someone during that scene where he's covered in blood in Africa right before it shows the Phantom Pain title towards the end of the trailer.
In MGS4, she tells Snake that Big Boss rejected his sons after knowing they were clones. I'm sure she's the one who told Big Boss about the cloning. She should be in MG Phantom Pain.

On your previous video I wanted to know your thoughts about the soldier that looks mind controlled so it was interesting to hear about that, as well as all the whole rest of the video. As for the release date, I think we are definitely up to something here.
I'm of the theory that Skull Face (if he isn't an original character) is Gene from Portable Ops. I know Snake is referred to as Venom Snake, but the Venom Awakens could also mean the Viper, which Gene is also known as. Gene also rescued Sokolov, pointing towards him having ties to someone with Metal Gear/Advanced Weaponry knowledge, which is why he's working on the one that features in the trailer. Gene can also 'charm' people with his special voice ability, which is maybe why Snake appears to be working with him in the trailer, and not resisting him. Also it may be why Snake shoots his own men. Gene was also a commander, like Big Boss, in that he had his own FOX unit, and his own private army. Not to mention the hand movements are similar (take that theory with a grain of salt though) Probably way off, and he's probably a brand new character, but I like to think they'll do something mind bending with him. :)
That would be cool, but it can't be true. In some of the tapes in ground zeroes, skull face says that when he was a child he was badly burned and that's why his face is scarred

James Robbins Because for a while I was convinced Kojima had hidden something in the tapes. I even went as far as turning the sounds into images and back into sounds again. There has to be some answers damn it! I will not be played like a fiddle!
I'm still thinking that Kaz betrays Boss in favor of Zero, who he probably sees as a better alternative for his mercenary business. Lets not forget that Kaz has lied and used Big Boss in order to further his plans before, so hes not entirely loyal. And again, the fact that he's even working with the U.S. government in the original MG games, a government that he and Big Boss know for a fact is controlled by Zero, shows that he obviously is no longer against Zero or Cipher. I'm guessing Kaz leads a mutiny in Diamond Dogs along with Zero, causing Big Boss to escape, join with Skull face, and finally create Outer Heaven.
I saw a comment like this on ign and it REALLY got me thinking and this seems like the most possible. Kaz is always planting ideas in BB head in PW and could be the driving force to turn BB into "villainy". I like this idea/theory
Not sure but didn't Kaz in PW say he was working for Cipher? Could be wrong. Also, how does BB rejoin Cipher to lead Foxhound and mislead Solid Snake in MG after all this?
slade6o8 I think sometime after Phantom Pain, Boss agrees to rejoin the Patriots, and in doing so covers his tracks of his involvement in Outer Heaven, at leasst until he's able to finish their Metal Gear.
That mentality is shown even more after Mother Base is destroyed, and he gets angry about the destruction of mother base as opposed to the murder of their comrades.
In the u.s. army we call them "combat patches". you can wear a unit patch there of any unit you have deployed to a combat zone with. if you have only deployed with a unit you are currently still in, you simply wear the same patch on both sides. if you have deployed with multiple units, you may generally choose which unit patch you want to display.
I still think the man who watched over Big Boss is either dead or possibly Decoy. There are enough links to assume that Sniper Wolf has some relation to Quiet, the Navajo code talker in relation to Vulcan Raven, Psycho Mantis working with XOF, Liquid in Afghanistan, Ocelot loyal to Big Boss but also working for the Patriots, and yet nothing at all about Decoy Octopus. Grey Fox wouldn't appear until some point in Africa so it isn't him. We need to keep that in mind.

Dr. Strangelove left the MSF base before the events in Ground Zeroes occured, so there's a chance that Skullface had her kidnapped, influencing Huey's betrayal to hope saving her from danger and possible torture and death.
I believe that the hospital scene was defining the word "Phantom". I mean come on! Big Boss just woke up from a 9 year coma seeing flaming whales eating helicopters and flaming unicorns, not to mention that NONE of the soldiers in the hospital was able to hit or notice Big Boss! Perhaps the people dying in the hospital were incarnations or rather "Phantoms" of his soldiers that perished under XOF's attack! Perhaps Ishmael was the medic's phantom in GZ, especially since he didn't physically interact with Big Boss, and he DIDN'T come out of the ambulance car after the crash.

5:02 More evidence that the diamonds are on the edge of the knife: memorial diamonds tend to have a blue hue, just like the lens flare we're getting there. I really think that's what is meant by 'we'll take them into battle'
4:00 that's sounds interesting, but let's recall that everything shiny in the MGSV style refers to proximal danger (like when you're about to get spotted). I think the phrase refers of wearing the ashes as a face camo (didn't really thought about this part until now, I was more into other things of the trailer)

I've been watching all of your analysis since 2012. :) However, there 's something I wanna point out about one of your Theories, about the glimmers that appears, like in this case the knives, ... I heared another theorie about one of your subscribers, that you mentioned in your previous analysis, that subscriber said that "it seems to appear when transitioning from cutscene to gameplay and vice versa". I saw an intervieuw from Hideo Kojima, months ago, about the introscene from Ground Zeroes, during one of those glimmers that appeared in that scene, Kojima said: "I've be always been a big fan of Star Trek since I was a little kid, and i wanted to immigrate those glimmers in mgs5 as in this case, the introduction-title". Not sure about the glimmers in Phantom Pain though, maybe this time he really wants to portray the glimmers about his fallen comrades, their ashes in the knives, just like you say... The project took place from 1971-1976 in an unknown location (it probably is Africa). There's a tape in Peace Walker where Kaz talks to Cypher and it reveals that Solid and Liquid had been born. So yeah, it could refer to raising the Twin Snakes to be the ones to take down Big Boss or something
There was an earlier trailer that ended with something like "In Africa, they're building a weapon to surpass Metal Gear." I think that 'weapon' is Liquid and Solid Snake.

About ZEKE, you can costumize zeke in Peace Walker to look similar to REX by putting Crystalis head, rail gun, radome, Peace Walker legs, cocoon armor, but there's no eyes that REX had. If someone wants, I could take a pic in Peace Walker and give a link to the photo
why do you think big boss is shooting at the cell doors or the prisoners? Big Boss could be shooting at the guards guarding the cells. PS. if big boss is willing to recruit enemy soldiers (guys who aren't hesitant to kill him) threw the fulton recovery system. Slaughtering children for stealing diamonds is kinda psychotic.
This has been bothering me ever since the red band trailer last year. Yong and a lot of fans seem so convinced that Big Boss is shooting at the kids just because the shooting sequence came immediately after the kids showing fear sequence!! But that's the power of editing for all we know. The shooting sequence could have happened anywhere inside these cave-like hideout. And more importantly, he could have been aiming at anything/ anyone not necessarily the children in the cell.
Big Boss has a lockpick now, thats how he busted out Chico and Paz. Shooting at locks like there is no tomorrow with prisoners inside them is strange. jlong908

I don't think Kojima would have a cutscene take care of guards, he would leave that up to players. And while I don't want to believe that Big Boss would do such a thing, I'm not completely ruling out the possibility. If him rubbing the ashes of the dead all over his face isn't any indication of his deteriorating state of mind, I don't know what is. And for anyone saying that Big Boss killing these people in the cell is "too effed up" by MGS standards, Chico's tapes say hi. The sideways red "V" on the helicopters looks like the standard warning for intakes and other dangerous parts on aircraft. One of your screenshots of the XOF one on the ground even had "Danger" somewhat visible. That said, uh60s are a pretty common helicopter but I wouldn't doubt if they are shared from them teaming up like you said. Awesome analysis, love the videos.

One thing that I haven't heard from many people is the connection between the chunk of helicopter in Big Boss' head and his actions post-coma. Big Boss has suffered a massive traumatic brain injury to the frontal lobes, which govern: emotions, personality, judgement, impulse control, language, memory, and social inhibitions/control. People who survive such injuries emerge with radically different personalities and thought patterns. Phineas Gage was an American railroad construction foreman, generally considered to be a fair employer and a kind man until he had an accident in which a large metal rod used for tamping explosives was driven through his frontal lobes. In Ground Zeroes Huey okays an inspection by the IAEA, perhaps (not enough facts are known) wishing to be caught by an unbiased state agency, freeing him from the responsibility of deciding whether the nuclear ambitions of an increasingly reclusive dictator of a tiny military state are defensive or offensive, just or unjust. Remember that the Tanker mission of MGS2 came about because Hal Emmerich received an anonymous tip from Liquid Ocelot, which he thought was from his sister, Emma. Skullface posed as the IAEA in order to destroy Motherbase, but perhaps Huey, like his son, Hal, made an honest mistake for personal but honorable reasons. Before the amiable and forgiving part of Big Boss' brain was destroyed, he might have had a tense but valuable conversation with Huey to decide whether or not their futures lie together. However, what we see instead is Big Boss pulling a wet cloth sack over Huey's face and ordering his torture by electrocution. It's important to note that Big Boss suffered the same torture at the hands of Volgin as a virile special forces operator. That he would do the same to a middle aged, paraplegic scientist, especially one he used to call friend, suggests a sudden and stunning lack of empathy, memory, and impulse control, a skewed sense of judgement, and a drastic change in personality. In the African portion of the trailers, we see the charred remains of child soldiers, Big Boss drenched in blood, and the foreign object lodged in his head wound, which appears to grow. It's possible that Big Boss isn't responsible for the deaths of all of these children, but it's unlikely. The visual metaphor of a red man with a large horn is too diabolical to suggest innocence. The growing horn in particular is an interesting plot device. If a splinter is left poking out of one's skin, the body will expel the splinter as the wound heals. I don't know if this holds for all foreign objects, but it seems that as Big Boss' wound heals, the brain is pushing against the piece of shrapnel, dislodging it from his skull, but wounding itself in the process; this causes Big Boss' actions to become increasingly morbid and erratic, and causes his appearance to mirror that fact. It might also explain the apparent rift between Big Boss and Diamond Dogs. The Higher-Ups in Diamond Dogs are Kaz Miller and Ocelot. Both men were defeated by Big Boss on the battlefield, however Kaz was more or less impressed into MSF, while Ocelot saved Big Boss from the hospital and joined Diamond Dogs of his own volition. In MG2 and MGS1 Kaz never sings the praises of Big Boss, he never even mentions having met him. Ocelot, however, vocalizes his admiration and love of Big Boss. Whatever happens that ends Diamond Dogs, Kaz and Ocelot leave with different impressions of the event and the man at its center. Kaz, the fun loving police officer, hates or tries to forget Big Boss, while Ocelot, the paragon of sadism and trickery, tries to immortalize him by spreading conflict and cheating all those who take part in his conflicts. They're remembering two different men, the Big Boss who suffers for his actions, and the Big Boss who makes others suffer through his actions. He transitions from what the Boss would call a soldier following orders from the superior part of his organization or the superior part of himself, to just another man with a gun. The shrapnel destroyed what the Freudian classification of consciousness would call the Super-ego, which represents societal obligation and the molding of our actions according to ideas, and released what it would call the Id, all of the petty, vain emotional responses that a healthy person ignores in order to act ethically. In order to function, he must become the absolutist monarch of Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land, because that is the only system which rewards brutality on the part of the leader, who must do that which furthers his wishes because his wishes are automatically just, and unquestioning loyalty on the part of the subject, who must fulfill the leader's wishes. The role Kaz played in MSF does not fit into this equation. Big Boss no longer needs a right hand man who can fight for a good idea or against a bad one. He no longer needs someone to define mission parameters or instruct him over the radio. He no longer wants a second opinion or a moral objection. His unmitigated will reigns supreme. If he has to collaborate with Skullface to get to Cipher, he will, whether Kaz approves or not.

I would like to point out that at the beginning of Metal Gear Solid, Solid Snake communicates with "Master Miller" as if to expect his assistance in the resolving the Shadow Moses incident. If I am not mistaken, he also assists in training Solid in Alaska at some point.Your point about the falling out between Naked Snake and Kaz may have more evidence than you think.

16:47 - the oval shape of the black area above the ??? is a hint that it is a new incarnation of ZEKE. Think back to playing Peace Walker-- whenever you assigned ZEKE to Outer Ops, that oval silhouette was always ZEKE's designation.
Yong - one thing about the Metal Gear chart is that TPP white barline over laps with some of Peace Walkers which helps with the Metal Gear Zeke theory we see in the trailer.
Even the light in front of the security cameras on ground zeroes had those blimps when you're getting closer to their sight range, i think it's the new danger alert style of the game.
Since that wasn't mentioned in the analysis, I'll post it here again. Isn't it possible that the scene with the "demon" Snake (blood covered and with the larger horn) is a hallucination or a nightmare of some sort? I can't see what he could do to get in that state. Besides, there's no other scene shown in either this or the other trailers in which Snake's debris is larger like that.
I'm not sure if it's been commented on before. But the red triangle signs on the helicopters seem to be warning signs for the air intakes. Which means they have nothing to do with the affiliation of the choppers but rather a detail that is included in that specific model. So you shouldn't make assumptions on who they belong to based on that. Thanks for a great channel btw. It's perfect for my current hype level. =)

About the possible Psycho Mantis possession you mention at 23:00. The odd thing about that last soldier he shot in the head is that the soldier didn't even look like he was coming at Snake. Perhaps the soldiers were trying to get to something (like maybe the self destruct mechanism for the Diamond Dogs base)? I looked up the possible dates: April 24 2015 - Sat. May 24 2015 - Sun. June 8 2015 - Mon. While not a cardinal rule in gaming most video games release on Tuesday. July 7, 2015 is a Tuesday. Is there any significance behind that date maybe (it is a few days after Independence Day)?
It Granin's cutscene in Snake Eater he talks about how he is going to send the Metal Gear information to a friend in the U.S and there is a photo behind him with someone that that has an uncanny resemblance to Huey. Which is most likely where they got the design for ZEKE, and it's upgraded head.
Quick note, we already know Kojima is a David Bowie fan. Originally, MGS3 was going to have a heavier space exploration theme and David Bowie's song "Space Oddity" was going to be featured. We can see remnants of the space theme still in the game with The Fury, The Boss's monologue and the fact that Zero goes by the code name "Major Tom" during the virtuous mission. That Diamond Dogs/1984 connection just seems so tempting.
Okay, I just had a theory. Hear me out. You know that scene in last years E3 trailer where Skull Face is in front of the helicopter with his men around him? They stand ready with their weapons aimed at a target. Skull face gracefully places his hands on the shoulders of two of his men, telling them to lower their weapons (it's in this video at 20:18), My theory, after seeing this video is that those weapons are pointed at Big Boss (and possibly Kaz). If an alliance is plausible between these 3 men, then this part of the trailer could possibly confirm that. Not to mention that the helipad on which they stand could be one from Motherbase. I do like this theory. How about you guys?
So, one thing I noticed. In the E3 gameplay, the commentator mentioned that different characters will walk around and interact with you at Mother Base depending on your relationship with them. This could either mean that relationships change over the course of the game, or players are forced to choose between two possibilities for the first time. Say, you don't have to hold Quiet captive, or in this case, you can choose to team up with Skullface. I'm a little skeptical myself of the second theory since it's never been done, but KojiPro did say that they were expanding players' possibilities. Maybe this is just another piece of that expansion?
You'll notice that the metal gear timeline for phantom pain slightly extends into peace walker's 2010 section, possibly suggesting that the phantom pain section borrows slightly from peace walker. This coincides with the Zeke theory.
Venom Snake is a 4th clone of Big Boss, hence "V has come to", the appearance differences and the different voice actors. I being Big Boss, II is Solid, III is Liquid, IV is Solidus and V is Venom. Personally, I think the game will be jumping between playing as Venom building up Diamond Dogs and Mother Base, before betraying Diamond Dogs, and jumping to Big Boss recovering from his coma, possibly ending the game on Solid (commanded by Big Boss and FOX) infiltrating your personal base and ending the game on a boss battle of Solid vs Venom. This Ishmael character (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) is possibly a failed clone, explaining the bandaged face. Venom's horn growing bigger is possibly a cloning error, as the debris in Boss' skull was cloned into Venom only. I believe the whole Venom being a clone theory also explains why we saw Punished Snake and Venom Snake, Venom being Boss' sense of revenge and unleashing chaos, and Punished Snake being Big Boss receiving the backlash from Venom's actions. But yeah, it's just a theory, and there's so much evidence against it.
Yong, don't you think quiet is actually soviet? There is a part on the trailer that she is using the same outfit of the soviet guy (2:54 on the new trailer). That would maybe explain why she is related to The End, considering that the Cobra Unit was in USSR for quite some time
Granin actually knew Huey (you see a picture of them in the background during the cutscene). I seem to remember him telling snake that he was going to send the copies of the designs to his friend in America. But Ocelot got those documents though. Not sure if Granin actually sent a copy of those documents to Huey. Also during the final cutscene in Ground Zeroes, Huey says something in the way that they hid Zeke in the ocean.
The shining of the knife is also present in ground zeroes, when they are opening Paz, some of the items also shine in the same way, maybe it's just some type of effects
I like the release date theory but AAA games don't usually come out in the summer so I think it's safe to eliminate the June date. They usually come out in the Fall, at the top of the year between Jan and March and lastly between April and May!

I get the feeling that "The weapon that will surpass metal gear" is not an actual weapon but rather Solid Snake. After all, he is a product of Zero's plans. Maybe that is why he returned to the US to command Foxhound. So that he could keep an eye on David. Knowing that he could be a liability, he wanted to get his trust by bonding with him and teaching him CQC and survival techniques.He sent Gray fox to Outer Heaven and kidnapped him to then send Solid Snake in hopes that he would die. Big Boss never expected him to succeed since he was Foxhound's least experienced member at the time.
But right now Snake is being raised by the former president

well the last scene with snake shooting diamond dog soldiers he shoots 4 soldiers, but as we can see at 23:51 there are 5 people dead on the ground and the fifth one lying where big boss stood indicating that the fifth corpse is big boss, so maybe this could be some kind of nightmare like mass effect 3 or something or hallucinations by psycho mantis to torture big boss, because he feels responsible for the death of his soldiers, like he killed them and is now reliving those moments, also this would remind me of the sorrow boss fight in mgs 3

I know there are quite a few inconsistencies with this theory but I theorize that Skull Face is actually Python from Portable Ops, he had history with Big Boss, he had to regulate his temp. or he would burn up, maybe he was badly burned after his fight with BB but he later found a way to stabilize his condition, and despite the fact that Skull Face told us his origin and that he speaks Hungarian, he could've faked his story, and anyone can learn Hungarian, just throwing it out there.

I think Skullface is way more involved with the Patriots than we think. I was replaying MGS2 and, when Colonel is revealed to be the AI, his face disappears to reveal a skull. The line?

Perhaps Skullface is a member/direct helper of the Patriots, and they put some of his personality into the AI?

One of the theme songs for TPP is "Not Your Kind of People" which talks about the large divide between the singer and everybody else. Also, the demon imagery for Big Boss AND Skullface is off the charts. This all gives me reason to believe that Skullface may be directly involved with the Patriots. Dramatically so.

Sorry mate, but the next "iteration" of MGO is not going to comply with our traditions. PW's gameplay mechanics were more suitable than GZ. and TPP is all about customizing our open-world. The online version of MGSV should be good in it's own way. But for Kojima to call it "MGO" is as much of an insult as the fact that he's the vice president of konami and had nothing to do with the termination of MGO1 and 2.
Frank Jaeger what? Kojima himself calls it MGO. Also it is currently the only task for KP LA with collaboration from KP JP's original MGO team. These are the only known facts at this time, I really don't know what you are getting at but be assured that this MGO will surpass the last, integrate with the single payer (during the E3 game play presentation it was said your base can be infiltrated by in game factions and online factions) and have a western feel to it.

Just some visual stuff I noticed: Coral snake imagery on the prosthetic arm (Red touches yellow, your a dead fellow) the Coral Snake being the poisonous one between the confusing patterns of it and the Milk Snake reflects the "venom" within Big Boss.
also at 17:00 notice the bars at the bottom of the chart here and how only the latest one extends to the left into Peace walker territory. I would guess that this more or less confirms that this is ZEKE or a modified ZEKE.
That metal gear diagram represents the size and scope of the past metal gears. The mgs5 spot is about the same size as cocoon, which way bigger than zeke. I wonder if we will get a Zeke vs Cypher's mecha just like in MGS4's ray vs rex.

It never passed through my mind that Big Boss was shooting the kids. He could be aiming and shooting at anything. We don`t even know if the scene of him shooting comes right after the cage scene. Heck, he could even be shooting at some watermelons.

"The weapon to surpass Metal Gear" is the A.I system that Zero makes. The same one you take down in MGS4.
I looked over the possible release dates. Being in the game industry you know almost every single game released comes out on a Tuesday. There are some exceptions but not many. The April release date is on a Tuesday, so some food for thought on that. ~Daley~
This comes from some research i did :Basically, the reason new DVDs, CDs and Video Games are released on Tuesdays is that rental figures and music charts are released on Mondays. It only makes sense that the studios/game companies/record companies would make their releases the next day, allowing a full week to maximize the numbers that are posted the following monday.
I also wanted to point out that quiet (in my view) was not the soldier on the helicopter. There is a large difference in the bridge of the nose that shows outside the soldiers mask, and the eyebrows are much thicker.
+YongYea also in the e3 demo when the soldiers are assigned to a unit there is a unit marked as ??? With a circle similar to poster with all the metal gears maybe that is the unit to develop metal gear

Yeah, but this is Metal Gear, the series where a Russian Colonel can channel 1,000,000 volts of electricity, the series where human cloning has been perfected by the 1970's, the series where dying soldiers can be brought back as cyborg ninjas.
It shouldn't be too far fetched to believe that someone can have a shrapnel wound without suffering any brain damage. But it's a good theory as to why the horn keeps changing size and some of the crazy shit going on in the hospital.
11:45 there is a conversation between Big boss and huey, in ground zeroes, when big boss is in chopper huey says that zeek is in bottom of the ocean and all is clear for inspection or something like that.

I think the theory of it being Quiet is pretty sound. It makes sense on how she reached mother base, and the torture scene. Don't know why they would torture a mute but then again, Ocelot was the only person in the room other than the random soldier actually shocking her, and Ocelot likes to torture. I just hope she joins diamond dogs in some way, cause she would be dead useful, literally. If you could call her in to snipe some people quietly.
theexile909 I agree and I know that this might sound weird but since the whole theme of the game is revenge, maybe they're torturing her just to torture her. Like letting out anger. It's the only reason I can see for them torturing a mute person.
I'd like to offer a little more insight to the stuff about the patches from a former US Army service member. The patch on the right shoulder does not just represent a former unit, it can represent any unit a soldier has deployed with, even a current one, and soldiers will also choose the patch that they are most proud of or sentimental about to display on the right. When Big Boss was in MSF, he displayed his FOX patch, probably in remembrance of his deployment to Tselinoyarsk in Snake Eater, and with Siamond Dogs he displays the MSF patch for obvious reasons.
If I remember correctly you can make your ZEKE look exactly the way it looks in this trailer using "custom parts" you get from the side quests.

those red markings on the choppers are the markings on a UH-60 Black Hawk showing the air intake for the turbo shaft engine and are not used as an unit marking and the windows are very close if not the same as a UH-60 as well
Lets be real. Knowing Hideo Kojima and his obsession with perfection (nothing wrong with that). This game will most likely be coming out in a year or even more. My reasoning is that during the E3 hands-off stage demo, the presenters who were talking about the game had said that the demo that was being shown was a early Pre-Alpha version of Metal Gear Solid V- The Phantom Pain. Also with Hideo Kojima's tweet saying that he is sad that The Phantom Pain won't look as good as GTA V on next gen consoles. Hideo is working harder to perfect MGSV which might take a long time. So in short don't hold your breath in thinking that we will get MGSV this year.

SolidSnake560 My take on it is that it's a trick of editing (like Chrystian mentioned). Maybe when Big Boss is unloading his magazine, he's mowing down some soldiers guarding the cell. Then after giving the one prisoner a big diamond, he tells them to back away from the door so he can blow the lock with some kind of lock.
But then why was he giving a diamond to the kid? Why not do it after he's out of the cell?

TorturedXeno i agree except he wasnt giving him the diamond he already had it. you see the other kids holding diamonds too. also im not too sure if it was meant to be a trick either. i think people are just assuming too much. there is no way to know what he is shooting at and people are just assuming he is shooting the kids because it shows the kids in the scene before. but what if it showed the kids after? it would have been completely different that way and nobody would have thought he was shooting them

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet. The interesting thing about Liquid's "It's not over yet" line, that you mention at 8:15, is that I think its inclusion in MGS1 was itself a throwback to Big Boss's final moments in Metal Gear 2. If you look up a video of the fight, Big Boss says "It's not over yet..." twice before erupting into flames at the end of the game.
So the idea that the line would show up in Phantom Pain adds some more of that famous quote recycling that Kojima seems so fond of.
Is the BB shooting the kids even in the same shot? It cuts to him shooting, but doesn't necessarily imply he's shooting at the kids, surely?
It's ambiguous and I think that's done deliberately. We'll be left guessing until the final game.
I think that the May 24th, if anything, is the release date of TPP, because is a David Bowie reference in MGS3. Major Zero in that game uses the code name "Major Tom", which is a character created originally by David Bowie. You can look this up at the MGS wiki.
Honestly, I doubt there will be a falling out between Big Boss and Diamond Dogs (during TPP anyway). If that happens during the game then do we just suddenly lose Mother Base and everything we worked for up until that point? And if it happens half way through the story for example, does that mean we would just have to do as much as we can with the base until that point comes? It would also mean there'd be nothing to do post-game.
Good observation. More than likely when he parts ways with diamond dogs, you will build Outer Heaven instead of Mother Base.
Two options: Mother Base remains intact until the absolute end of the game. Or all of your progress is meaningless by the end and you manage Outer Heaven.
The helicopters used by XOF and Diamond dogs are Hueys. In the Peace Walker briefing file concerning the basics of the Fulton Recovery system, Kaz explains that they use a Huey to recover the soldiers, rather than a C130. The Havoc/Hind hybrid used in Ground Zeroes is likely an upgrade of one of the Hinds captured in PW. It was probably used in GZ because it has that huge Shipunov Cannon on it, which may have been deemed necessary for striking a base with multiple AA installations. Plus, Fulton was not used during GZ, and returns in The Phantom Pain.
One thing I would like to point out is that in the E3 2013 poster of The Phantom Pain, we see an X-ray image of Big Boss where you can clearly see some sort of debris in his body resembling diamonds. This might be a bit out there, but my theory is that Big Boss (and perhaps even other Diamond Dogs members) surgically plant these diamonds into their bodies as a way to "take them into battle with them". After all, it wouldn't make sense to call them "Diamond Dogs" instead of "Diamond Knives" if it's only the knives which contain diamonds. Both Big Boss and Solid Snake have been called "dogs of war", so it's pretty obvious that by "Dogs" they mean themselves.
However, one diamond inconsistency is that during the 30-minute Afghanistan demo, we see Big Boss picking up some diamonds as a collectible. These appear to be normal diamonds, and not cremation ones. Unless, of course, it's a collectible in the same sense as the XOF patches from Ground Zeroes, where Big Boss had to track them down in different parts of the area. Maybe Big Boss lost the diamonds somehow, and they were scattered all over the game's locations. This seems really unlikely (and really dumb on Big Boss' part), so I wouldn't count on it. My real point is that there are probably diamonds in this game which are not made of fallen soldiers.

One thing I don't think you pointed out is that it looks like Snake is trying to revive someone during that scene where he's covered in blood in Africa right before it shows the Phantom Pain title towards the end of the trailer.

On your previous video I wanted to know your thoughts about the soldier that looks mind controlled so it was interesting to hear about that, as well as all the whole rest of the video. As for the release date, I think we are definitely up to something here.
I'm of the theory that Skull Face (if he isn't an original character) is Gene from Portable Ops. I know Snake is referred to as Venom Snake, but the Venom Awakens could also mean the Viper, which Gene is also known as. Gene also rescued Sokolov, pointing towards him having ties to someone with Metal Gear/Advanced Weaponry knowledge, which is why he's working on the one that features in the trailer. Gene can also 'charm' people with his special voice ability, which is maybe why Snake appears to be working with him in the trailer, and not resisting him. Also it may be why Snake shoots his own men. Gene was also a commander, like Big Boss, in that he had his own FOX unit, and his own private army. Not to mention the hand movements are similar (take that theory with a grain of salt though) Probably way off, and he's probably a brand new character, but I like to think they'll do something mind bending with him. :)
That would be cool, but it can't be true. In some of the tapes in ground zeroes, skull face says that when he was a child he was badly burned and that's why his face is scarred

I'm still thinking that Kaz betrays Boss in favor of Zero, who he probably sees as a better alternative for his mercenary business. Lets not forget that Kaz has lied and used Big Boss in order to further his plans before, so hes not entirely loyal. And again, the fact that he's even working with the U.S. government in the original MG games, a government that he and Big Boss know for a fact is controlled by Zero, shows that he obviously is no longer against Zero or Cipher. I'm guessing Kaz leads a mutiny in Diamond Dogs along with Zero, causing Big Boss to escape, join with Skull face, and finally create Outer Heaven.
I saw a comment like this on ign and it REALLY got me thinking and this seems like the most possible. Kaz is always planting ideas in BB head in PW and could be the driving force to turn BB into "villainy". I like this idea/theory

slade6o8 I think sometime after Phantom Pain, Boss agrees to rejoin the Patriots, and in doing so covers his tracks of his involvement in Outer Heaven, at leasst until he's able to finish their Metal Gear.
That mentality is shown even more after Mother Base is destroyed, and he gets angry about the destruction of mother base as opposed to the murder of their comrades.
In the u.s. army we call them "combat patches". you can wear a unit patch there of any unit you have deployed to a combat zone with. if you have only deployed with a unit you are currently still in, you simply wear the same patch on both sides. if you have deployed with multiple units, you may generally choose which unit patch you want to display.
I still think the man who watched over Big Boss is either dead or possibly Decoy. There are enough links to assume that Sniper Wolf has some relation to Quiet, the Navajo code talker in relation to Vulcan Raven, Psycho Mantis working with XOF, Liquid in Afghanistan, Ocelot loyal to Big Boss but also working for the Patriots, and yet nothing at all about Decoy Octopus. Grey Fox wouldn't appear until some point in Africa so it isn't him. We need to keep that in mind.

Dr. Strangelove left the MSF base before the events in Ground Zeroes occured, so there's a chance that Skullface had her kidnapped, influencing Huey's betrayal to hope saving her from danger and possible torture and death.
I believe that the hospital scene was defining the word "Phantom". I mean come on! Big Boss just woke up from a 9 year coma seeing flaming whales eating helicopters and flaming unicorns, not to mention that NONE of the soldiers in the hospital was able to hit or notice Big Boss! Perhaps the people dying in the hospital were incarnations or rather "Phantoms" of his soldiers that perished under XOF's attack! Perhaps Ishmael was the medic's phantom in GZ, especially since he didn't physically interact with Big Boss, and he DIDN'T come out of the ambulance car after the crash.

However, there 's something I wanna point out about one of your Theories, about the glimmers that appears, like in this case the knives, ... I heared another theorie about one of your subscribers, that you mentioned in your previous analysis, that subscriber said that "it seems to appear when transitioning from cutscene to gameplay and vice versa". I saw an intervieuw from Hideo Kojima, months ago, about the introscene from Ground Zeroes, during one of those glimmers that appeared in that scene, Kojima said: "I've be always been a big fan of Star Trek since I was a little kid, and i wanted to immigrate those glimmers in mgs5 as in this case, the introduction-title". Not sure about the glimmers in Phantom Pain though, maybe this time he really wants to portray the glimmers about his fallen comrades, their ashes in the knives, just like you say...

The project took place from 1971-1976 in an unknown location (it probably is Africa). There's a tape in Peace Walker where Kaz talks to Cypher and it reveals that Solid and Liquid had been born. So yeah, it could refer to raising the Twin Snakes to be the ones to take down Big Boss or something
There was an earlier trailer that ended with something like "In Africa, they're building a weapon to surpass Metal Gear." I think that 'weapon' is Liquid and Solid Snake.

About ZEKE, you can costumize zeke in Peace Walker to look similar to REX by putting Crystalis head, rail gun, radome, Peace Walker legs, cocoon armor, but there's no eyes that REX had. If someone wants, I could take a pic in Peace Walker and give a link to the photo
why do you think big boss is shooting at the cell doors or the prisoners? Big Boss could be shooting at the guards guarding the cells.
PS. if big boss is willing to recruit enemy soldiers (guys who aren't hesitant to kill him) threw the fulton recovery system. Slaughtering children for stealing diamonds is kinda psychotic.
This has been bothering me ever since the red band trailer last year. Yong and a lot of fans seem so convinced that Big Boss is shooting at the kids just because the shooting sequence came immediately after the kids showing fear sequence!!
But that's the power of editing for all we know. The shooting sequence could have happened anywhere inside these cave-like hideout. And more importantly, he could have been aiming at anything/ anyone not necessarily the children in the cell.
Thats a lot of bullets for one locks...
Big Boss has a lockpick now, thats how he busted out Chico and Paz. Shooting at locks like there is no tomorrow with prisoners inside them is strange.

I don't think Kojima would have a cutscene take care of guards, he would leave that up to players. And while I don't want to believe that Big Boss would do such a thing, I'm not completely ruling out the possibility. If him rubbing the ashes of the dead all over his face isn't any indication of his deteriorating state of mind, I don't know what is. And for anyone saying that Big Boss killing these people in the cell is "too effed up" by MGS standards, Chico's tapes say hi. But again, it's just a theory, so you could be right and I could be wrong. It could all just be some clever editing.

Kojima is God. He will obviously go back in time to 1984 and release the game early, creating a time paradox.

The sideways red "V" on the helicopters looks like the standard warning for intakes and other dangerous parts on aircraft. One of your screenshots of the XOF one on the ground even had "Danger" somewhat visible. That said, uh60s are a pretty common helicopter but I wouldn't doubt if they are shared from them teaming up like you said. Awesome analysis, love the videos.

One thing that I haven't heard from many people is the connection between the chunk of helicopter in Big Boss' head and his actions post-coma. Big Boss has suffered a massive traumatic brain injury to the frontal lobes, which govern: emotions, personality, judgement, impulse control, language, memory, and social inhibitions/control. People who survive such injuries emerge with radically different personalities and thought patterns. Phineas Gage was an American railroad construction foreman, generally considered to be a fair employer and a kind man until he had an accident in which a large metal rod used for tamping explosives was driven through his frontal lobes. He recovered only to become a miser who lost his job, lashed out at everyone around him, and died alone twelve years later. His friends called him "no longer Gage." Perhaps this explains or at least contextualizes all of Big Boss' unusually harsh methods and his larger shift in character from a James Bond analogue in MGS3 to a Saddam Hussein analogue in The Phantom Pain.
Take the situation with Huey for example. Big Boss meets and recruits Huey during Peace Walker with full knowledge of his opposition to offensive nuclear weapons production. He tasks him with creating a defensive nuclear weapon. In Ground Zeroes Huey okays an inspection by the IAEA, perhaps (not enough facts are known) wishing to be caught by an unbiased state agency, freeing him from the responsibility of deciding whether the nuclear ambitions of an increasingly reclusive dictator of a tiny military state are defensive or offensive, just or unjust. Remember that the Tanker mission of MGS2 came about because Hal Emmerich received an anonymous tip from Liquid Ocelot, which he thought was from his sister, Emma. Skullface posed as the IAEA in order to destroy Motherbase, but perhaps Huey, like his son, Hal, made an honest mistake for personal but honorable reasons. Before the amiable and forgiving part of Big Boss' brain was destroyed, he might have had a tense but valuable conversation with Huey to decide whether or not their futures lie together. However, what we see instead is Big Boss pulling a wet cloth sack over Huey's face and ordering his torture by electrocution. It's important to note that Big Boss suffered the same torture at the hands of Volgin as a virile special forces operator. That he would do the same to a middle aged, paraplegic scientist, especially one he used to call friend, suggests a sudden and stunning lack of empathy, memory, and impulse control, a skewed sense of judgement, and a drastic change in personality.
In the African portion of the trailers, we see the charred remains of child soldiers, Big Boss drenched in blood, and the foreign object lodged in his head wound, which appears to grow. It's possible that Big Boss isn't responsible for the deaths of all of these children, but it's unlikely. The visual metaphor of a red man with a large horn is too diabolical to suggest innocence. The growing horn in particular is an interesting plot device. If a splinter is left poking out of one's skin, the body will expel the splinter as the wound heals. I don't know if this holds for all foreign objects, but it seems that as Big Boss' wound heals, the brain is pushing against the piece of shrapnel, dislodging it from his skull, but wounding itself in the process; this causes Big Boss' actions to become increasingly morbid and erratic, and causes his appearance to mirror that fact. It might also explain the apparent rift between Big Boss and Diamond Dogs.
The Higher-Ups in Diamond Dogs are Kaz Miller and Ocelot. Both men were defeated by Big Boss on the battlefield, however Kaz was more or less impressed into MSF, while Ocelot saved Big Boss from the hospital and joined Diamond Dogs of his own volition. In MG2 and MGS1 Kaz never sings the praises of Big Boss, he never even mentions having met him. Ocelot, however, vocalizes his admiration and love of Big Boss. Whatever happens that ends Diamond Dogs, Kaz and Ocelot leave with different impressions of the event and the man at its center. Kaz, the fun loving police officer, hates or tries to forget Big Boss, while Ocelot, the paragon of sadism and trickery, tries to immortalize him by spreading conflict and cheating all those who take part in his conflicts. They're remembering two different men, the Big Boss who suffers for his actions, and the Big Boss who makes others suffer through his actions. He transitions from what the Boss would call a soldier following orders from the superior part of his organization or the superior part of himself, to just another man with a gun. The shrapnel destroyed what the Freudian classification of consciousness would call the Super-ego, which represents societal obligation and the molding of our actions according to ideas, and released what it would call the Id, all of the petty, vain emotional responses that a healthy person ignores in order to act ethically. In order to function, he must become the absolutist monarch of Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land, because that is the only system which rewards brutality on the part of the leader, who must do that which furthers his wishes because his wishes are automatically just, and unquestioning loyalty on the part of the subject, who must fulfill the leader's wishes. The role Kaz played in MSF does not fit into this equation. Big Boss no longer needs a right hand man who can fight for a good idea or against a bad one. He no longer needs someone to define mission parameters or instruct him over the radio. He no longer wants a second opinion or a moral objection. His unmitigated will reigns supreme. If he has to collaborate with Skullface to get to Cipher, he will, whether Kaz approves or not.

I would like to point out that at the beginning of Metal Gear Solid, Solid Snake communicates with "Master Miller" as if to expect his assistance in the resolving the Shadow Moses incident. If I am not mistaken, he also assists in training Solid in Alaska at some point.Your point about the falling out between Naked Snake and Kaz may have more evidence than you think.

16:47 - the oval shape of the black area above the ??? is a hint that it is a new incarnation of ZEKE. Think back to playing Peace Walker-- whenever you assigned ZEKE to Outer Ops, that oval silhouette was always ZEKE's designation.
Yong - one thing about the Metal Gear chart is that TPP white barline over laps with some of Peace Walkers which helps with the Metal Gear Zeke theory we see in the trailer.
Even the light in front of the security cameras on ground zeroes had those blimps when you're getting closer to their sight range, i think it's the new danger alert style of the game.
Since that wasn't mentioned in the analysis, I'll post it here again. Isn't it possible that the scene with the "demon" Snake (blood covered and with the larger horn) is a hallucination or a nightmare of some sort? I can't see what he could do to get in that state. Besides, there's no other scene shown in either this or the other trailers in which Snake's debris is larger like that.
I'm not sure if it's been commented on before. But the red triangle signs on the helicopters seem to be warning signs for the air intakes. Which means they have nothing to do with the affiliation of the choppers but rather a detail that is included in that specific model. So you shouldn't make assumptions on who they belong to based on that.

About the possible Psycho Mantis possession you mention at 23:00. The odd thing about that last soldier he shot in the head is that the soldier didn't even look like he was coming at Snake. Perhaps the soldiers were trying to get to something (like maybe the self destruct mechanism for the Diamond Dogs base)?

While not a cardinal rule in gaming most video games release on Tuesday. July 7, 2015 is a Tuesday. Is there any significance behind that date maybe (it is a few days after Independence Day)?
It Granin's cutscene in Snake Eater he talks about how he is going to send the Metal Gear information to a friend in the U.S and there is a photo behind him with someone that that has an uncanny resemblance to Huey. Which is most likely where they got the design for ZEKE, and it's upgraded head.
It's going to be an April or May release date. The ground zeroes papers say to "check back in early 2015" for the exclusive pre order content.
Quick note, we already know Kojima is a David Bowie fan. Originally, MGS3 was going to have a heavier space exploration theme and David Bowie's song "Space Oddity" was going to be featured. We can see remnants of the space theme still in the game with The Fury, The Boss's monologue and the fact that Zero goes by the code name "Major Tom" during the virtuous mission.
That Diamond Dogs/1984 connection just seems so tempting.
Okay, I just had a theory. Hear me out. You know that scene in last years E3 trailer where Skull Face is in front of the helicopter with his men around him? They stand ready with their weapons aimed at a target. Skull face gracefully places his hands on the shoulders of two of his men, telling them to lower their weapons (it's in this video at 20:18), My theory, after seeing this video is that those weapons are pointed at Big Boss (and possibly Kaz). If an alliance is plausible between these 3 men, then this part of the trailer could possibly confirm that. Not to mention that the helipad on which they stand could be one from Motherbase. I do like this theory. How about you guys?

So, one thing I noticed. In the E3 gameplay, the commentator mentioned that different characters will walk around and interact with you at Mother Base depending on your relationship with them. This could either mean that relationships change over the course of the game, or players are forced to choose between two possibilities for the first time. Say, you don't have to hold Quiet captive, or in this case, you can choose to team up with Skullface. I'm a little skeptical myself of the second theory since it's never been done, but KojiPro did say that they were expanding players' possibilities. Maybe this is just another piece of that expansion?

You'll notice that the metal gear timeline for phantom pain slightly extends into peace walker's 2010 section, possibly suggesting that the phantom pain section borrows slightly from peace walker. This coincides with the Zeke theory.
I just noticed that skull face is actually wearing that domino mask in las year's E3 trailer. When he steps outta the helo, you can clearly see it.
Venom Snake is a 4th clone of Big Boss, hence "V has come to", the appearance differences and the different voice actors. I being Big Boss, II is Solid, III is Liquid, IV is Solidus and V is Venom. Personally, I think the game will be jumping between playing as Venom building up Diamond Dogs and Mother Base, before betraying Diamond Dogs, and jumping to Big Boss recovering from his coma, possibly ending the game on Solid (commanded by Big Boss and FOX) infiltrating your personal base and ending the game on a boss battle of Solid vs Venom. This Ishmael character (voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) is possibly a failed clone, explaining the bandaged face. Venom's horn growing bigger is possibly a cloning error, as the debris in Boss' skull was cloned into Venom only. I believe the whole Venom being a clone theory also explains why we saw Punished Snake and Venom Snake, Venom being Boss' sense of revenge and unleashing chaos, and Punished Snake being Big Boss receiving the backlash from Venom's actions.
But yeah, it's just a theory, and there's so much evidence against it.
Yong, don't you think quiet is actually soviet? There is a part on the trailer that she is using the same outfit of the soviet guy (2:54 on the new trailer). That would maybe explain why she is related to The End, considering that the Cobra Unit was in USSR for quite some time
Granin actually knew Huey (you see a picture of them in the background during the cutscene). I seem to remember him telling snake that he was going to send the copies of the designs to his friend in America. But Ocelot got those documents though. Not sure if Granin actually sent a copy of those documents to Huey.
Also during the final cutscene in Ground Zeroes, Huey says something in the way that they hid Zeke in the ocean.
The shining of the knife is also present in ground zeroes, when they are opening Paz, some of the items also shine in the same way, maybe it's just some type of effects
I like the release date theory but AAA games don't usually come out in the summer so I think it's safe to eliminate the June date. They usually come out in the Fall, at the top of the year between Jan and March and lastly between April and May!
