Horseland designers should have an award because all of the colours on the horses look so satisfying and good together that it's hard to choose the favourite one.
@@stonersirenTo be fair, horses are amazingly talented at getting sick or injured even under the best circumstances, but the number of times its caused by negligence and overwork in the show is wow.
The show is currently airing on a Finnish TV channel and I've caught a few episodes every now and then and thought it was just a funny coincidence that every one I saw had someone run off. Guess not!
My mom genuinely banned me and my sister from watching this show because we started acting like the characters and just being awful and rude to each other lmao
My parents did the same with my sister and I. They banned us from watching any Disney Channel shows because "it teach to kids that bullying is funny, and all these characters are awful and stupid"
@@gcmc3947No joke. Horse people can be mean, traditional even if it's detrimental and incredibly arrogant. I'm saying this as someone who is a horse person. Well, want to be. I've ridden and all, been researching horses, is into studies about them, watches horse content, etc. Too poor to own a horse and take many lessons these days, is all.
Something I think about ALL THE TIME is Sarah saying “clothes can be replaced, horses can’t” and Clozo saying “of course horses can be replaced?” And their horses, who have been The Worst all episode, going “oh shit”
Mind you, it’s easy for Sarah to say any clothes can be replaced (especially expensive ones) since she herself can afford them (or rather her dad can) since she comes from a rich family. If Alma, Molly or Nani ruined any fancy riding gear they owned, it’d probably be a while before they could afford to replace them. So although Sarah’s my fav character, it’s a bit pretentious of her to casually say clothes can be replaced so easily in that context.
@@sparxstreak02.. Sure, randomly yeah, but you forget that it also has the line horses cant.. Even if you were to buy a new horse, it'd cost a lot of money. Treating the injury had it gotten worse? A lot of vet bills and treatment cost. In comparison to ruin one set or clothes, when you're clearly rich enough to even own a horse? Yeah. Clothes can easily be replaced. And that isn't even mentioning the emotional bond or attachment to a living being.. What kind of message would it send if she was more concerned for her clothes than the literal injured horse? This is a kids show.
@@sparxstreak02Besides, all of them are clearly well off aswell. They clearly could replace their clothes.. They own a horse. Not sure if you know this, but they are EXPENSIVE to own in the long run. Just because Sarah is more well off than them, does not mean they are poor.
So there's a little point to further add issues in the Added Weight Episode. The reason there are no results to her weight loss at first is that Pepper sneaks out at night and gorges herself because she's hungry from her lack of dinner, thinking "Everyone already calls me fat so what's the use in denying myself this huge meal without restraint." Its...remarkably realistic if a bit dark. She also refers to herself as "an out of shape butterball." later in the episode after her exercise routine, telling the audience and herself that she thinks she hasn't exercised enough yet.
People often handle racism differently depending on how much they experienced in their life. Plus, maybe she was more focused on riding horses and looked at things through an optimistic mindset?
@@jocelynecupcakeIt's a precedent that's set even with the disabled character that they're just supposed to suffer gracefully through bigotry. Some people do approach bigoted responses with a 'Water off a duck's back' attitude but having that be how most minorities experiencing racism are displayed does have adverse effects with how often people irl get told they're overreacting to offensive actions or being told to be the bigger person
@@honda-akariThat is debatable, while both are horrible, they are both horrible in their own aspect. One is a detriment to the structure of our society, while the other is a damage to the moral standards of how to treat a non-human being. I feel racism can be considered worse when taking slavery, lack of rights, and violence towards another race into account. This is only an opinion, however, seeing as morals are generally opinion based.
@@honda-akari racism can quickly lead to violence and/or cruelty on a large scale and i wouldnt compare two very broad subjects as to which is "worse".
@@honda-akari... do you know what racism actually entails mate. racism is backed by systemic oppression of racial minorities in most cases. which absolutely, 100% leads to not only mental harm and trauma but also physical harm. hell, native women have a much higher chance of being murdered, sa'd, or both compared to white women for a reason. (the reason being native women are seen as more disposable - less wanted and therefore less likely for the perpetrator to be caught than if they targeted a white person.)
Almost brilliant in a way. A big problem with "don't judge a book by its cover" plots in children's media is most character design in said media deliberately conveys character traits visually, undermining said message.
Regarding the blind girl ... disabled people like us are also supposed to "be cool" when taking ableism. We aren't allowed to react, get bothered, get angry. Your comments on bullying in general are true. And disabled people are required to prove their "usefulness" to be accepted, which is how the episode ended.
I fully agree and would just like to point out that Li has a condition and may consider themself disabled. That's probably why they're so knowledgeable about ableist bullying 😢 (EDIT: specifically, they have POTS. They mention it at the beginning of the Polly Pocket video)
Yeah, that's what rubbed me the wrong way too. If we're disabled we have to prove we can be a proper cog to the machine of society to be accepted, but what's worse is if we try to prove too hard suddenly people question if we really are disabled because "look, you can do all these things, you're useful! You're not your disability!" which completely undermines our struggles. I fucking hate it because it's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation, no matter what your disability is.
I remember that episode, I think it was the first one I ever watched. I always viewed the ending more like disabled people might be different but are still their own person with (sometimes) better capabilities of my own.
“Okay but how can we _use_ you otherwise it’s right into the pit” nothing like having a disability become more prominent with age, you get to experience this escalation in real time 😵
So predictable that that is how they did it. I mean, come on, the Hunchback of Nowhere from _Courage the Cowardly Dog_ didn't have to prove anything to be deserving of kindness, or the person making fun of him to just magically have a change of heart.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed reindeer: any and all deviations from the status quo can and will be punished unless they are proven to be exploitable by those around you
Same for spookley the square pumpkin(the movie at least). They bully tf out of a literal infant because he isnt a carbon copy of them, they chastise him with a song, and make fun of him for not being able to complete some games. But once a storm comes and they all might die, spookley uses his differences to his advantage to help everyone. All of a sudden everyone loves him, even the guys who started the bullying. I hate when kids movies do that, like they’re telling black/brown/disabled kids,”your only useful if your serving/helping, ‘normal’ members of society.”
I'd say the Rudolph message was you should be able to appreciate people's differences. You can be surprised by what someone different than you can do. Weird your take away from it was so negative.
@@MellisFox I live in Colorado and Mountain lions are a thing but not as big of a problem as in the show. In my area, more people get mauled by bears than Mountain lions.

I had just started recovering from my ED (the first time) when I saw the "Pepper is Fat" episode and spiraled back down that hellhole. It is so painfully evident that the writers of this show got their mental health tips from a gossip magazine and not a medical professional
the biggest thing about this show is literally - _where are the adults?_ like. children should not be training feral or troubled horses, or like, have enough experience to be training alone for multiple competitions. it's bothered me since childhood (yes, I was a horse girl). on a completely different note, my childhood cat, who was also a black cat, waited for me to go to work before she passed away. it was like mosey; she didn't want me to be distraught by watching her go.
My theory is that Will (I think) was told to be in charge because he grew up with horses and so that way, the adults can be away from children, and that Horseland is a like a daycare and or Summer Camp so parents can leave their kids there I am sorry that happened
Pretty sure that it's just a way to save money on animation. This is a cheap show and in order to save on hiring MORE animators, they just focus on the main characters. Sure they may be too young to run the whole place on their own, but we could just use anime logic where the kid has the whole apartment/house to themself and the parents are always either on vacation, a bussiness trip, or dead. 🤷
Yeah, they had been like six adults shown on screen during all the series. Maybe Horseland took place in a post-apocalyptic world after the mysterious disappearance of the majority of the adult population... Or more likely the show didn't have the budget or ressources to have recurring adults characters, but i like my first theory better.
Ok the whole point of that episode is that they were WRONG for acting like that. It’s all about learning their lesson. Why does no one talking about horseland understand that???
@catherinerogers8558 I don't think it was a "wow, this show is bad and doesn't understand it's saying bad things!" and more of a "holy shit, that's a lot of blatant classism from the evil children in a kid's show, that's buckwild" sort of thing. Not quite what you expect when you come to watch a cutesy kids' show, even if it's accurate
i saw the black and red horse in the thumbnail and my brain was suddenly and ferociously flooded by a vicious tide of horse-themed lights and sounds. pretty sure i watched the entire series 10s of times over in that single moment. i currently lay typing this comment in my bed, which i collapsed onto like a sickly Victorian woman after such traumatic moments were so forcibly relived. thank you
That was the only reason I watched it when I was younger. But the art style never fit the preachy boring writing, though. And why oh why did the animals have to talk?@@enchantingmirage
agreed. that's why i loved when the strawberry shortcake characters had ponies that matched their designs and aesthetics. i kno that was random for me to say, but yea.
all of my Sims 3 horses had hair like horseland horses. I spent a good few months exclusively roleplaying as horseland horses in the sims. What a time to be alive.
The sentiment of “this show sucks when it’s not about the horses” is so real. I had toys of all the main horses but not a single human character. Tbh idk if there even were toys of the humans
You are SO right about portraying bullies. My daughter would have loved the mean girls if they were portrayed that way. And even though the the girls are in middle school, she wouldn’t watch it now when she’s in middle school, it’s way more age appropriate for kids 5-8 and at that age, the sassy pretty girl is absolutely aspirational. And I’m so sad they didn’t misguidedly decide to roll with the girl plot/ horse plot and make her horse blind too so that the other horses can be mean… Because then it’s a blind girl riding a blind horse and that would be hilariously bad and on brand tbh.
That would have been amazing because you literally can ride blind horses. There are even blind show horses. It’s not uncommon, either. A lot of horses develop cataract and lose their vision. Some horses get “moon blindness” where the UV slowly kills their eyes. I love when these shows pander to horse girls.
@@amberwingtundrawing776 thats a rude statement to make about a group of people that like one specific animal. Its better to say something along the lines of "competition is encouraged among equestrians leading to bad sportsmen ship in name of winning".
Im always surprised by such statements. I went to two different stables for 5 and 3 years and both had absolutely lovely people. I didnt get along with everyone of course but overall horse folks were nice😂
as a horse girl yeah a good portion of them are awful. like genuinely. probably a mix of "young teen girls who are just in that part of their development" and "corrupted horse community that values competition and control over genuine connection with the animal". there is ofc good horse people too, but man... there's too many bad ones

As a child, I absolutely wanted to Be Chloe. I used to play as her at recess and mimic her attitude. Luckily, season 3 hadn’t released, so I wasn’t copying bigotry, but it goes to show that you’re so right, any “pretty, rich” character can be seen as aspirational!! And it’s a risky thing
This is how I was with every pretty/handsome rich "mean girl/boy" character. I didn't care that they were the bad guys, all I knew is that they slayed and I wanted to be them. Of course, I AM autistic, so I think I had trouble picking up on the fact that even though those characters were usually portrayed as the cool kids in cartoons, that wasn't how the mean/cool kids acted in real life, so I always just got bullied for my excessive campiness.
I feel like most of the time, gravitating towards a more "villonous" character as a kid could possibly point to bigger external, and interpersonal issues such as relationships with family and friends or even expiriences.
Same. She was the one who looked like me the most with the headband and so I related to her even though she was supposed to be (an actual) mean girl. I understood she was a mean girl but never like a genuinly bad person

I'll admit I was a hardcore fan of this show as a child but GUYS. Does anyone remember the huge wiki vandalization where Shep was listed as an omnipotent god of the new world, with the rest of horseland as his mindless thralls? I think it happened in 2021-22, I can't find it anywhere, but I vividly remember trying to tell my friend about this show and us breaking down laughing for, like, at least an hour reading all the wiki pages.
@@latelyitsemily I actually looked into it the other day (searched through old messages) and it definitely did happen. Here are some quotes from screenshots. “Shep often acts as a friend and voice of reason for Teeny as a way to conceal his overwhelming urge to outwardly manipulate or harm her, a fact she is completely unaware of.” “Shep is a male brown and white collie dog that works at Horseland. His owner is Bailey, and Shep has been with him since Bailey’s arrival on Earth, though he seems to be unaware of Bailey’s true form.” “At the same time, however, Shep has a dark side and sometimes displays psychotic and manipulative tendencies towards his animal companions. This may be due to the fact that he is owned by Bailey, though this is unconfirmed. Shep is also known to harbor an extreme desire to murder and eat Teeny, but he conceals this fact by offering advice to her and putting up a gentle laid-back front in her presence. His unsatisfied lust for blood, power, and respect gained through knowledge is what motivates him to remain at Horseland, along with his loyalty towards Bailey.”
the cat episode made me almost cry. if you didnt know, cats often leave home before they die. theres been theories why, such as trying to run from death, trying to find a comfortable and safe place, or simply making sure their owners dont see them die. it reminded me of one of my cats. strong, big but sweet and gentle guy named rascal. when he died, he went to a neighbors house. they thought he was just sleeping because he slept there sometimes. theyre sweet, kind creatures who dont wanna cause you that kind of heartbreak. for everything wrong with this series, that was pretty accurate at least. for better or for worse.
Horseland is a fever dream of a show that you only remember seeing a handful of times whenever you didn't have access to your typical kids channels on a Saturday morning
When you learn 2D animation, one of the things an instructor will usually mention is that horses are notoriously difficult to animate without extreme simplification (Like MLP:FiM levels of reduction,) due to not only their strange proportions, but the unusual ways their body moves as they gallop. Part of what makes James Baxter as prolific of an animator as he is is due to the fact that he is one of the few who can animate horses extremely well. So to make a 2D animated show with an extended cast of horses with only barely simplified designs... Is ambitious, to say the least.
The funny thing is that I am best at drawing horses, and I startet animating horses, so the way horses move is normal for me, and I am not able to do dogs or cats or any animal that moves differently 😂
the episode about being penpals says a lot about the dating standards for men and women actually. men feel like its okay to lie about large things and falsify their identities because in exchange... women wear makeup. its actually really telling of today ^^;
If I had a nickel for every show I've seen with a mean girl named Chloe with a sister named Zoe, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's odd that it's happened twice. To make the comparison stronger, the Zoe in the other show admitted to being a former mean girl.
The "Mosey" episode really got to me, complete with tears, because I had a dark grey cat named Moseby. So, one in a million chance that a 5 minute episode summary would pinpoint attack a watcher, right?
I know nothing of Horseland... never played the games, never watched the show... but I've watched this video seven times already because it is so comforting and fun.
Unfortunately, despite a character being written to not care about getting bullied being cruel and not okay, it’s depressingly realistic for someone who’s used to being bullied. A lot of us learn to laugh along and pretend they’re laughing with us or to shut up and take it because getting mad gives them more material
Yeah, one of the first things I learned about how to deal with bullies is don't cry in front of them, and if you have to run away from them to avoid letting them see your tears that's still better than openly crying in front of them. It won't make it better but it will keep it from getting worse and also crying all the time is tiring and I don't have the energy
Yup learned young that self deprecating humor worked well to get bullies off my back, but it bit me in the ass later having to unlearn shit coping mechanisms lol
So are there just no adult counselors at the camp? Because these girls cannot be trusted on their own given how often they find themselves in horse peril or get their horses injured.
@@VocalovelySame, I always thought will was like 25+ and was the manager of the stables or something. I mean, he’s treated as the leader, trainer, and chaperone of the group when they’re doing training sessions or going on outside activities. Apparently he’s like 15-16??? Bro does not look, sound, or act 16. I dont think a 16 year old would be, in any world, be put in charge of a bunch of 13-14 year olds. Let alone on a sequestered ranch in the middle of nowhere with no other adults?? Edit: I was wrong about the ages of the other characters. They’re 12?!? THEY’RE 12?!! People ship Sarah and Will too. Yall… that’s a 7th grader and a sophomore. Nuh uh. One of them is old enough to drive and the other just started puberty like 2 years ago. A three year age gap lead to a massive maturity gap in those circumstances.
I had a horse land OC! She was a pinto paint filly. She was light hearted and energetic making her clumsy sometimes. She’s be a character to have for kid’s birthday parties or being a service animal therapy after a character arc of maturing and getting attached to a child in a wheelchair. I LOVED this show growing up
that is SUCH a cute oc idea 😭 and genuinely SOLID for a kid to have come up with!!! all my childhood ocs were just “ugh 😫 i am so tortured and an orphan and DARK and no one understands 🥀⛓️” for ages lol
Omg I didn't exactly have horseland OCs but my best friend and I made up imaginary horses and unicorns in elementary school with very extensive lore and I'm pretty sure we gave them colourful streaks of hair. (I remember a black unicorn with golden streaks and a golden horn who had magical lightning powers and was named flash)
Just wanna mention about the ED episode, uh the riders would have known immediately because horses live in their stables and they piss and shit in there. So you’ve gotta clean it and put in new bedding everyday more or less cuz they also sleep in there. A farmhand would have noticed the pile of food right away. Also just wanna mention that the brush that Chloe is using when she notices Pepper’s hair falling out is specifically a brush designed to pick up undercoat and shedding hair. The animators literally just picked a random horse brush and used it for this scene.
Horses are also just incredibly food-driven, it's a conceptually bad premise to begin with. Only time I've seen a horse not take treats irl was one that had only just come off the race track and didn't understand the concept of treats yet. He soon understood tho and joined the ranks of all the others that would go nucking futs if a mint wrapper crinkled lol
I feel like one of the best examples of the "fabulous and kind of stuck-up character can sometimes be a bad guy" is cleo de nile in monster high. Shes sometimes petty and very self-centered and bossy, but she never does anything despicable and actually regularly shows she really cares for and values her friends.
I heavily appreciate how clear you have made the point of being careful when addressing potentially harmful topics to children, and how presentation of an issue can significantly impact how a child views the world. Adults have the habit of creating problems for children by informing children of those problems in the first place. For example, by insisting to kids that bullying is a problem, children then pick up the idea that “bullying is common” and instances of bullying then increase. I’m glad to see that you have reiterated this problem throughout the video when different difficult topics come up. I have the strong belief that eating disorders would not be as prevalent among children if schools covered the topic better. The eating disorder curriculum I was taught with focused on teaching kids exactly what an eating disorder entails, basically giving kids a handbook explaining exactly how to restrict their food intake and what negative thoughts they might be having about themselves. We were told that teenage girls often hate their bodies and restrict their food intake because of it. That perpetuated the idea that the teenage girls in my class must hate their bodies because the teacher said that’s what teenage girls do. And then the teacher provided 2 weeks of extensive eating disorder research, giving us packets full of information on how to restrict our food intake. I strongly hypothesize that if we instead focus on teaching children how to healthily balance their meals and fitness in the best ways for their own unique bodies, the number of children with eating disorders would be lessened. Another example of adults creating a problem is the failed DARE program that increased alcohol and drug use in teenagers with branding claiming that it’s common for teens to partake in the use of harmful substances. As the upcoming generation to be raising kids, we should take responsibility in reframing our education about upsetting topics such as these so that we aren’t perpetuating hurtful behaviors in the next generation.
I'm a horse girl, I see horses, I watch. There's a lot of incredibly stupid horse media out there. The thing about this one is how it doesn't actually teach much accurate info about horses at all. Kids ride without their helmets, don't check their girths, rush up to horses they don't know, run around the stables constantly, take jumps they're not trained or prepared for, tie their horses unsafely, stand directly behind hroses or walk blithely behind them, ride during lightning storms, yank constantly on the mouths of their mounts, and put the horses into situations that could potentially kill both the horses and rider. None of the horses are trained for kids, as they spook and bolt, kick, and bite. At best the show tells you things you can do with horses, like jumping and western and dressage. I recommend watching the Bob's Burger's episode where Tina gets riding lessons and meets Plops for a gentle transition between this and the real world.
Some of the jumps are pretty big as well, like the horse would have to be trained on its own and might not physically be able to do it if it's not a high jumping breed, which trained can cost into the high six figures.
Everyone's complaining about the native American treatment, then goes and says, "bUt TwInS aRe bAsiCalLy A TwO hEaDeD EnTitY" nice nice. (Both things are wrong, only one is ever called out) -_-
That horse anorexia episode... really did its damage because I actually copied that behavior subconsciously as a teen. I loved Horseland as a kid, specifically the horse Pepper, and now I wonder how many others were affected by that episode. It was actually the episode that popped into my mind when I saw the thumbnail. Rewatching those scenes where Pepper says those things about herself... chokes me up since that is exactly what ran through my mind as a teen, and still sometimes does. It makes me wonder if I was inspired by Pepper or if it was always there even as a kid and that it just waited in my subconscious until I was already down.
I hope you're doing better now (and at least from your post, it seems you are, so that's awesome). I'm sorry the episode had such a negative effect on you. The episode was so irresponsible with how detailed it was, and how the way everyone behaved was actually encouraging the behavior (they did show that negative side effects came along, but it seemed to be framed carelessly overall and not discouraged enough). Honestly, I don't get why they had an episode centered around a topic like that period. The show was not built to tackle such heavy themes, neither in writing skill nor episode time. And I guess that was a running issue throughout the show's runtime. I never personally watched the show when I was younger, but the idea that *that* is what they were showing to people my age is terrifying. This is why it's so important to critique children's media. This cartoon is older, but there were plenty of things even then that had more tact and grace than this show.
yeah I am doing a lot better now, but its scary how that episode sat in my subconscious from childhood. Horseland really was not equipped for such an episode.@@mariesummers.
That was my favorite episode as a kid and I don’t know why 😭 I never have struggled with an eating disorder, but I can see how it damaged other kids and I don’t know why they decided to make that episode. I’m sorry it affected you like that and I hope you are doing better nowadays.
I never realized how much they’re all supposed to be best friends but are so mean to each other. Like this is what my model for friendship was as a kid?
All of y'all saying it's not That unrealistic must've had some pretty shitty friends growing up. My friend group poked fun at each other, sure, but we all knew it was in good faith. The few times any of us went too far, we apologized and avoided repeating the behavior. Even at our worst, I don't think we got anywhere near saying the kind of things these girls do to each other.
The episode with the blind girl pisses me off so badly cause my mother who has been blind her whole life is really good with horses. She’s the whole reason why we got horses in the first place. She used to be able to ride them before her back issues got worse but she’s amazing with animals in general. She even has a degree in animal science! :]

The Native American episode shocked me so much. My older brothers are Cherokee (and registered as such). Honestly that episode seemed so much more harsher than the other ones. (Also they’re my half brothers, some mom, but their dad is a Cherokee man and my moms first husband)
Same. I have a friend who’s Cherokee descent and this episode irritated me so much. Doesn’t help how racist and ignorant Chloe and Zoe were, especially when they were in those stupid costumes and saying it wasn’t a big deal, but the final straw was when they asked if she was related to Pocahontas, OMG.
The dyslexia episode in particular confused me because all they other characters kept telling Sarah's cousin to refer to the manual... in the middle of doing the routine. While they're still learning it. And none of them are reading in the saddle, so why are they acting like he should? Just... what???
I say if you want an episode touching the issue of dyslexia done right, I would highly recommend Static Shock, the writers handled Rubberband Man's dyslexia really well.
Honestly throughout watching this retrospective, it's kind of weird how vividly I remember all these characters and their designs, I remember being so enamored by it, especially the design of the horses, and the choice of colors. I also remember how pretty good the Arabic dubbing for this show was, so it was kinda jarring hearing all these awkward and stiff line deliveries, and also the theme song for it was pretty fire 🔥!
i think the norwegian one aswell, tho its too long ago i watched it to be sure, needless to say the english version threw me off, i cant remember it being that bad so im asuming the norwegian dub was better lol
24:33 showing that being unaffected by the bullying is the "correct" way of reacting to it is already bad within itself but it's even worse when it's in reference to a disabled character being subjected to ableism, it conveys the message that disabled people should never speak up about their struggles even and especially if it's related to their disability or they're being discriminated because of it To say this topic was handled poorly is an understatement
I'm both autistic and have adhd. It's so annoying because I get the abelism and bigotry from both sides. And then on top of that I also identify as bi and non binary, so I get the shit show from that too! It's like a compass where every direction is just a different flavor of sewage. People can just say things like "you don't look autistic", "you're not that energetic, so I don't believe you have adhd", "but you have to pick a side!" or "but biologically you're still a woman" and I'm expected to be kind because "they don't know better". I'm not allowed to respond with stuff like "that's because autism isn't a physical disability, but a mental one. It's a difference in our brain, not a difference in how our body look", "that's because the chaos is in my brain, not my body", "who says I have to pick?" or "why do you think I want that surgery you refuse to do because I MIGHT want kids despite there being valid alternative ways to get a kid?" without being called an idiot, rude, delusional or met with responses like "well, how was I supposed to know that?", "I'm sooooo sorry!" (In a way to force you to reassure them that its fiiiiiine) "but my 5 year old cousin has that too and he behaves nothing like you!" etc etc etc. Gosh, just let me play video games with my hubby, leave me alone in public and respect my boundaries/limitations. It's so fucking annoying when I have to scrunch up into a tiny ball during my bus ride because someone keeps invading my personal space and I'm too anxious to say anything while it being VERY clear that I don't feel comfortable with it. Also while I'm ranting, can we please bring back seating accommodations in grocery stores? Not just for people who have stuff like painful bones or such, but also for cases like lightheaded, out of breath (like an astma attack) or stuff like autistic people getting a sensory overload from the loud noises, people entering their personal space and the overwhelming amounts of scents in the tea isle. I had that exact thing happen earlier today and I had to heavily lean on my cart and the pillars to make sure I didn't fall over. Seating accommodations would make situations like that much less scary and dangerous as well as just improving the shopping experience in general. After I navigated my way out of the tea isle and through self checkout, I had to find the nearest bench outside just to make sure I didn't pass out or had a breakdown during my commute home. Stuff like this could be prevented by just implementing small things like seats or quiet hours in stores. Anyway, that's my ranting for now 😅
The horse designs and colours are ingrained in my brain forever. Unfortunately, the episode I most clearly remember is the native racism episode which, as a british kid who barely knew america existed, nevermind native americans, left a really weird impression
@@skurwysyn100 Because some weird snooty girls were acting awfully towards another girl and wearing awkward costumes everyone hated for no reason? Watching racism when you don't know what they're being racist against makes it even more obviously arbitrary
Hi, equestrian/farrier here. This whole series, while ridiculous to normal folks, is so realistic to the horse world. Disposable horses because daddy’s money can get another one that you can ride into the dirt, how mean/racist/biogoted they all are, the cliques (can’t spell it) of barns, money is the only way to reach high-levels in show, etc. The horse world has a trend of making their PFP’s into edits of them and their horse(s) in the Horseland style. It’s iconic in the community. I actually am one of the comments on the original Horseland JR game videos. Love this series, grew up on it and the online game. EDIT: About the weight episode, if people are wondering why Pepper is getting so big, they should ask Zoey since she give her 50lbs of oats for dinner?? Weight is one thing, 50lbs of oats should’ve made her colic????? Is she trying to kill her?? Cartoon logic, tf.
it would be unhealthy to say the amount of times I've rewatched this video. i never watched Horseland before but this video helps me wake up in the morning and I don't understand it. thank you li
For the ED episode, you are exactly right. It was actually my first exposure to the concept of eating disorders, and I never forgot it. When I developed an ED later on in life, I started doing all of the things Pepper did. I still struggle with those problems, and rewatching the episode, I have a visceral reaction to it simply because they depicted it way too realistically for little kids.
Are you sure it was the episode and not just having some kind of negative expirience or tramatic upbringing? Maybe the show triggered a part of it but how can an episode of a kids show be entirely responsible for something as elaborate as a ED?
@@tigerbuttfilms3416 moonalight isnt saying that the episode CAUSED their ED, but that the show gave actual tips on how to effectively hide an eating disorder from others. Tips they may have not been exposed to (or at least not finding them so easily) if it wasn't for the way Horseland decided to portray it
@@petra2123 Yes! Exactly. Horseland did not cause my ED, that was definitely a few life situations and events, but more than once I actively used Pepper's actions because while the show didn't explain how bad it was, it did show valid ways to unhealthily lose weight. Like pretending to eat, hiding food, over exercising without eating, and the reality of body dysmorphia. The episode itself simply stuck to me so strongly because I was young and facing Pepper's problems exactly, and the horse-to-human danger ratio didn't really click in my younger mind.
i feel you, i remember a similar thing happening in one of my favorite books when I was younger, it was just a throwaway line on a similarly loaded topic, but hell did I remember when it ended up applying to me later in life
I was actually just wondering if the German version was good but it does make sense because the industry for dubbing in Germany actually has a lot of means to make it sound well
Oh GOD the way this video immediately unlocked so many core memories. I remember being a member of horseland in 2008 when the change happened and the absolute uproar that ensued, which then led to the creation of horsephenomena, a fan-made website which aimed to recreate and improve on what everybody originally enjoyed about horseland. It was a small but very loyal userbase.
Do you remember what it was we did enjoy about Horseland? Because I was passionate about the place for years, but I cannot quite recall what actual fun there was.
Horseland was such a fever dream, I remember being 9 years old and searching “Horseland Full Episodes” on UA-cam after school. I liked two characters MAX and still ate it up. Tbh I think I mostly liked it because I thought the horse designs were cool.
With the way Chloe and Zoe treat Nani I can't believe that they haven't said some STUFF to Alma and Molly (nor can I believe how passive those two are when confronted by Chloe & Zoe's racism)
I don't get why they'd be racist towards Nani but not Alma, considering the fact that both they're both native American. I guess the twins are propably two of those stupid white people who think most Latin Americans are actually Spaniard rather than native because the Spaniards minority forced the native majority in these colonies adopt Spanish culture. Or who knows, maybe they know Alma is native too but they probably think she's one of "the good ones" because she dresses and acts like a white, European girl.
[24:52] The fact that quite a few parents may expect their children to ignore bullying may somehow be the most realistic and depressing thing about this portrayal.
“riding in style” is permanently BURNED into my memory, the lessons little me took away from it though, was that fashionable clothes are dangerous and you need to stay away from them for your own safety. 😭 seeing it again brought up that same feeling of being deeply unsettled and afraid
The fucking Mosey episode wrecked me as a kid. I remember I talked about it on discord with my friend and while it is weird he just shows up it probably would’ve been worse if he was an established character. It would’ve traumatized SO many kids. It’s also a small detail but I appreciate that Mosey was depicted as good natured in the episode. This might seem like a weird thing to point out but it always irked me when cats and wolves were depicted as the villains in media to the point where people would call all irl cats ‘assholes’ (Especially when I read the warrior cats series and also got my own cat) I think devious cat characters are fun now, but I appreciate them a lot more if it’s shown that not ALL cats are like that or that there’s a playfulness in their mischief.
ngl that was the worst episode for me, because Mosely dies and also I always got weird vibes because of how close they made Sarah and Will, even as a really young kid I always thought "isn't that her teacher?"
Let me just tell you, as someone who grew up with horses, no one disses horses ever. Whenever the fact that my family owned horses came up, anyone who heard immediately went “No way, that’s so cool!” and not “Ew, horses are lame and smelly!” Which don’t smell btw, they’re pretty clean for the most part and we often gave them baths.
Fr, whenever I mention that I ride, people are so enthusiastic over it, lol. It makes me happy to impress them with some horse facts. The only person ever, who made fun of horses, was my brother, who for whatever reason hated me for 15 years, and his life mission was to hate and mock everything I like. I'm like 90% convinced that he feels completely neutral about horses, and the only reason he said anything negative about them, was to mock me, and that was it. It's always the bullies who hate horses.
Did anyone else notice that the horse Zoe tries to replace pepper with is pretty much the exact same horse that the "mysterious blonde woman" judge is riding in a later episode? The judges horse just has a slightly lighter shade of blue
I specifically remember the dental floss plotline of that one episode having a *hold* on me, and it triggered a brief obsession with dental hygiene for some reason
Kids really internalize stuff in the weirdest ways, huh? I remember when I was watching a true crime show (which I probably shouldn't have been watching) where this guy's ex-girlfriend injected him with an anesthetic that almost completely paralyzed him. It was so effective that he couldn't even breathe correctly, which made me deathly afraid of running out of breath and suffocating. I then realized that I couldn't inhale while I was *speaking*, so I went out of my way to speak as little as possible for a small while 👍
The episode with the blind girl is soooo harmful it literally has the messege of "disabeled people are only worth it if they can somehow serve there non disabled peers" wich is such a harmful idea even if its not as glaring as the ed episode.
Sadly as a general rule people will only accept you if you are somehow useful to them. It just happens to be more obvious when it comes to disabled people. That's why it's important to teach kids from an early age that all humans have inherent unlimited value.
When I seen this episode as a child, I took it as "Just because someone is disabled, don't underestimate their abilities", which is far more positive outlook at life than this comment section
@FirstnameLastname-ek6tz Haven't seen Velma never plan to but seriously Horseland is a show for KIDS ages 7/8ish to 10 of course you as an adult are not going to like it! You going to talk about H2O and all of it's silliness next? Or the 80"s Ninja Turtles? He-Man And She-Ra? Let Kids enjoy stuff man.
Mostly unrelated but the fact that you didn't capitalize "ED" is now just making me imagine this show having a crossover episode with Ed Edd n' Eddy 💀 That would be hilarious, would be worth existing just so the Eds could mentally and psychologically rip the Horseland kids to SHREDS (And, bringing back the topic, that episode proves they deserve it)
Whenever indigenous characters show up in a kids cartoon I always hold my breath, being native myself (Northern Cherokee) there always seems to be a lack of understanding amongst kids media about what being native is actually like.(And I hate to be that person, but of COURSE Nani is Cherokee, it's always the tribe they default to if not Navajo) I just feel like Pepper Ann portrayed what it's like living in a world where people think your racial identity is a joke and never taken seriously. Horseland's representation was ok at best, but hearing what Chloe and Zoey said quite honestly made me gasp.
@erikbihari3625 I honestly just don't want stereotyped, a deep dive isn't always necessary but most "representation" barely scratches the service (also I love secret saturdays) hope this answered your question!
I’m Ojibwe and completely agree. There’s little to no accurate representation of Indigenous cultures and feel it’s too often that ALL Native Americans get grouped together and portrayed as being the same stereotype/caricature
im not native, im as pale as 8.5x11 paper, and i hardly knew anything about native americans until i was around 13. its not just media, its EVERYTHING. really unfortunate how such a large part of our country is brushed aside, and the history taught to us as kids is “columbus was a wonderful dude who had such lovely times with the *indians* isn’t that right guys” before being lightly touched upon in early high school and then ignored thereafter. due to this i feel like the real lack of confrontation about the horrible things clo-zo say really could’ve made an impression on kids. eugh.
fun fact: I didn't really watch the show much but I was aware of the episode about the cat's death because it recieved a positive review in a German TV magazine for handling the subject of death in a thoughful yet child-appropriate manner.
It's like what I call personally a dentist cartoon, a cartoon series worthy of showing in dentist halls for the pretty colors. Bright, colorful and eye catching enough, but almost always contains a paper thin story, limited animation budget and repetitive character design to create new ones through recycling in a way to make Ed Boon blush. Usually created to sell merc. If the cartoon has a fanbase that lasts more than 10 years that's a lucky coincidence. Perfect examples like this horse cartoon are: *Shera 1985, hell all the classic Heman cartoons till New Adventures* *Pre 90s Casper Hanna Barbera cartoon* *Most of the 90s Barbie CGI movies* *G1 My Little Pony* *Bratz the animated series* *That racing cartoon starring BamBam and Pebbles from the Flintstones* *Pole Position* *That airborne ballerinas cartoon (Sky Dancers?)* *Highguardian Spice* *How My Body Works* *Most 90s Disney shows set in school, not called Gargoyles*
The Pepper weight episode makes me raise an eyebrow specifically on no one taking her out to ride while her rider was sick. No one thought she should get some time outside the stable??
That was the sister’s job and the sister gets an earful for not doing it. It’s not the job of the others to do that or confirm that it’s being done. they likely thought she WAS being taken out
Until watching this video I never realized Zoe and Chloe's horses names might be a pun. I always thought his name was "Chili" like it's cold, because his fur is white and snow is white. But it's suppossed to be "Chili" and "Pepper" or "Chile Pepper" (cause they're both spicy lol) isn't it?
Ngl, I’m really sick of how many kids shows write disabled/marginalized characters as valuable to the main cast depending on how much they can contribute to their needs. Idk, it’s just really weird how disabled characters only seem to gain respect in media after their disability can be exploited for a certain use or proven to be an “advantage”… Yikes.
I've heard some disabled people say that Kim Possible did a pretty good job of portraying a disabled character but it's been so long since I watched the show so I can't really remember much. Except for the fact that the dude had a rocket wheelchair that he modded himself.
To be fair, in Avatar The Last Airbender, Toph Beifong joined the team BECAUSE Aang needed an earthbending teacher. But they also never thought any less of her before she joined, she was always on equal footing.
I suddenly understand why I hated everyone but Sarah, and I always felt bad about liking only her cause she's the rich blonde girl but appreantly she was the only normal person there and that's why 😭
That original horse land site with the horse photos was like a status symbol among the horse girls in my middle school, my friends and I would compare horses and at sleepovers we'd all take turns signing on to the horse land site so we could show each other our horses. So many memories and I was so sad when the site closed. It was like, just the most random pretty horse pics from who knows where, but dang I was obsessed with my horses on there.
Oh my God, the anorexia episode is too real. A few years ago I was desperate to lose weight and did the same thing, relying of shitty protein shakes and only eating when around others. I started losing the weight and, just like the episode, everyone was happy for me. I got more compliments and people told me I looked happier. In reality my muscles felt tense all the time, my stomach hurt regularly, I was beginning to get migraines and eventually developed a heart murmur. Did you know that quick weight loss/gain can be a big stress on your cardiovascular system? Neither did I. I looked good, just like how everyone wanted me to, but I didn't feel good. And for as bad as being a fat person is seen in our society, it's way worse to force yourself to starve. I'm more or less back to the weight I was before I started and I'm fine with that, but I definitely screwed up my relationship to food and still find it hard at times not to get upset at myself for having some ranch on my salad. 0/10, not worth it, I hate fat phobia and mainstream diets.
I’ve struggled with a similar issue. I starved myself at 15/16 and now at 23 I still have thoughts in the back of my mind. It’s truly a life long mental illness and even if you’re “recovered,” you still have bad days
stay strong my friend 😢❤ remember to take it one step at a time, don't push yourself to get better and also remember it's ok to take steps back. recovery is hard.
@@cynderwolfstar7664 An absolutely awful thing for a kid to experience. It won't be easy but we'll be okay. Something I think about ALL THE TIME is Sarah saying “clothes can be replaced, horses can’t” and Clozo saying “of course horses can be replaced?” And their horses, who have been The Worst all episode, going “oh shit”
When was that?
@@KrytenKoro the first episode, when she first gets there i think

The one representation they get right, and it’s emos.
Regarding the blind girl ... disabled people like us are also supposed to "be cool" when taking ableism. We aren't allowed to react, get bothered, get angry. Your comments on bullying in general are true. And disabled people are required to prove their "usefulness" to be accepted, which is how the episode ended.
Really? that is actually so messed up im so sorry for what these people have to go through…
I fully agree and would just like to point out that Li has a condition and may consider themself disabled.
“Okay but how can we _use_ you otherwise it’s right into the pit” nothing like having a disability become more prominent with age, you get to experience this escalation in real time 😵
27:51 Ah yes, the Rudolph message: As long as you can prove that your differences/disabilities are useful, you deserve respect
Also reminds me of Naruto. Most people in his village treat him like he is a plague and then they love him once he saves the day.
I'd say the Rudolph message was you should be able to appreciate people's differences. You can be surprised by what someone different than you can do. Weird your take away from it was so negative.

Or more likely the show didn't have the budget or ressources to have recurring adults characters, but i like my first theory better.
Hearing the phrase "we don't invite the hired help" in a kid's show is INSANITY
Yet, strangely not too off base.

The sentiment of “this show sucks when it’s not about the horses” is so real. I had toys of all the main horses but not a single human character. Tbh idk if there even were toys of the humans
There actually were toys of the humans and they also came with the horses
There are toys!?!?! Holy, I didn’t even know there was a cartoon. I only had journals that I have no idea how even ended up in my country

This video dug up memories if watching this show as a kid and all i remember was I hated all the humans and wanted it to only be the horses
And I’m so sad they didn’t misguidedly decide to roll with the girl plot/ horse plot and make her horse blind too so that the other horses can be mean…
Because then it’s a blind girl riding a blind horse and that would be hilariously bad and on brand tbh.
That would have been amazing because you literally can ride blind horses. There are even blind show horses. It’s not uncommon, either. A lot of horses develop cataract and lose their vision. Some horses get “moon blindness” where the UV slowly kills their eyes. I love when these shows pander to horse girls.
As someone who has been in a horse community since a small kid..the personalities are on point. Many equestrians are rotten..few are good apples
Oh yeah horse girls are mean regardless of if they own a horse or not😅

Fam as someone who owned a horse, competed for years and did all the stereotypical horse girl things your family is COMFORTABLY middle class to afford all that shit. Boarding your horse, lesson fees, show fees, vet fees, farrier fees….etc lol. None of these girls are struggling 😅
Upper middle.
Meanwhile I did lessons with this woman who rescued horses for £5 and mucking out for her.
I'm guessing you're from the UK, where middle class means something different than in the US
I wouldn’t say middle class, upper middle at the very least
@@ACDBunniein the UK it usually refers to someone with quite a lot of disposable income, a well-paying job and an overall very comfortable life when it comes to money. That’s just what middle class means where I’m from anyways, not too sure how much that differs from the USA ofc
Same, I did not help that I was a horseboy and have rich parents

“Shep often acts as a friend and voice of reason for Teeny as a way to conceal his overwhelming urge to outwardly manipulate or harm her, a fact she is completely unaware of.”
“Shep is a male brown and white collie dog that works at Horseland. His owner is Bailey, and Shep has been with him since Bailey’s arrival on Earth, though he seems to be unaware of Bailey’s true form.”
“At the same time, however, Shep has a dark side and sometimes displays psychotic and manipulative tendencies towards his animal companions.

Knowing this gives so much context to why they didn’t animate the horses too much

Even as a child who knew nothing about horses at all I still watched this show thinking "that doesn't look right"
Some of the jumps are pretty big as well, like the horse would have to be trained on its own and might not physically be able to do it if it's not a high jumping breed, which trained can cost into the high six figures.

Anyway, that's my ranting for now 😅
"The rating for this episode was *raspberries*." We need to use this method more often.
The horse designs and colours are ingrained in my brain forever. Unfortunately, the episode I most clearly remember is the native racism episode which, as a british kid who barely knew america existed, nevermind native americans, left a really weird impression
I don't understand, why such impression when, as you said, you didn't even know native americans existed?
@@skurwysyn100 Because some weird snooty girls were acting awfully towards another girl and wearing awkward costumes everyone hated for no reason? Watching racism when you don't know what they're being racist against makes it even more obviously arbitrary
Glad I’m not the only British kid who had no idea what was going on
Hi, equestrian/farrier here.
All of this ^
The horse care part? Ridiculous.
The mean girl part? Fully correct
@@savanna9482 Thank you for confirmation. 🥲 I suck at spelling.
Horseland JR was GOATED
All I gotta say is as someone who is physically disabled and Native American , do not let Chlozo anywhere near me .
I just realized this applies to me too ToT Edit: I just saw the episode I'm astounded that no one punched them ^^;.
The racism in this episode was disturbingly realistic, like, sht people have actually said to me as a person with native American ancestry..
also disabled and indigenous, same. don’t make me hit them over the head old man Biffy style with my forearm crutch

it would be unhealthy to say the amount of times I've rewatched this video. i never watched Horseland before but this video helps me wake up in the morning and I don't understand it. thank you li
i can already tell i'll be doing the same.
@@koda_dawgg i get up for work and i swear i put this on- this show shocks me at times, it wakes me back up

“Here’s how to hide this effectively” may be the advice kids are looking for but it sure ain’t the advice they need.
i feel you, i remember a similar thing happening in one of my favorite books when I was younger, it was just a throwaway line on a similarly loaded topic, but hell did I remember when it ended up applying to me later in life
I watched this show as a kid in another language and I swear the voice acting in German was SO MUCH BETTER??
The Finnish dub too. What the heck?
polish as well possibly although i don't remember that well
I was actually just wondering if the German version was good but it does make sense because the industry for dubbing in Germany actually has a lot of means to make it sound well
The Swedish one as well. They sounded so much more emotional and dedicated to their roles than the English actors
omg i was about to comment this
i generally remember this show being a lot better
god the cat episode summary made me want to cry, and i’ve never even had a cat. i’m glad they at least got the emotions in that episode right
I have never seen this show and yet I saw this video, less than a minute of clips of this cat, and I was tearing the fuck up. Help.
I recently lost one of my lizards and that part of the video got me messed up
Oh GOD the way this video immediately unlocked so many core memories.
Touhou pfp spotted
Horseland was such a fever dream, I remember being 9 years old and searching “Horseland Full Episodes” on UA-cam after school. I liked two characters MAX and still ate it up. Tbh I think I mostly liked it because I thought the horse designs were cool.
I like the designs but yeah it’s a mess
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING.
FR
Toxic friendships that don't ever improve or have long-running consequences?
This is just The Proud Family. With horses.
Wow😂 your right though
god you’re so right 🤣🤣🤣
They like the toxic friendships or else they would ignore each other and just ride the horses
Exactly
Except make it white washed
[24:52] The fact that quite a few parents may expect their children to ignore bullying may somehow be the most realistic and depressing thing about this portrayal.
“riding in style” is permanently BURNED into my memory, the lessons little me took away from it though, was that fashionable clothes are dangerous and you need to stay away from them for your own safety. 😭 seeing it again brought up that same feeling of being deeply unsettled and afraid
I hope your style is now gorgeous and the horse show isn't haunting you anymore!
Op I’m sorry that’s so funny
Can we tell people this is how lularoe started. A deep fear of fashionable clothes
This is an extremely deep memory that you just unearthed. I forgot about the horses with streaks in their hair
Also that blond girl’s crazy side part
The fucking Mosey episode wrecked me as a kid. I remember I talked about it on discord with my friend and while it is weird he just shows up it probably would’ve been worse if he was an established character. It would’ve traumatized SO many kids.
It’s also a small detail but I appreciate that Mosey was depicted as good natured in the episode. This might seem like a weird thing to point out but it always irked me when cats and wolves were depicted as the villains in media to the point where people would call all irl cats ‘assholes’ (Especially when I read the warrior cats series and also got my own cat)
I think devious cat characters are fun now, but I appreciate them a lot more if it’s shown that not ALL cats are like that or that there’s a playfulness in their mischief.
I remember that episode! His death scene made me cry.....😭
I feel you.
Real
ngl that was the worst episode for me, because Mosely dies and also I always got weird vibes because of how close they made Sarah and Will, even as a really young kid I always thought "isn't that her teacher?"
@@userabbie17Will is like, 16, while the rest are around 14 or something I think. So it's not too bad at least.
a fact about icelandic horses; once you take them out of iceland, you cant bring them back
Shep looking straight into the camera is just as horrifying as Phineas from Phineas and Ferb looking straight into the camera (also great video btw)
The only people I've ever heard berate horses are horse owners 💀
people are more likely to complain about horse people than horses themselves
I've heard people say they're scared of horses but that's usually the worst of it
Cant relate at all. Live in the country but a ton of rich suburban people are moving here and hate that animals do in fact live in the country.
I didn’t think an animal death in a show I’ve never seen nor heard about before would have me crying but here we are
Watch the whole ep omg it’s devastating
Plz watch the episode if you don't watch any other one!
Did anyone else notice that the horse Zoe tries to replace pepper with is pretty much the exact same horse that the "mysterious blonde woman" judge is riding in a later episode? The judges horse just has a slightly lighter shade of blue
1:04:27
Well it's official, Chloe and Zoey are the kind of girls to marry their own second cousins just to keep their bloodlines "pure"
So true 😂
:[
They were secretly Hapsburg's all along...
You just know their family has a specific inbreeding related disease named after them.
They're white and racist. That much was a given.
I then realized that I couldn't inhale while I was *speaking*, so I went out of my way to speak as little as possible for a small while 👍
That's the best case scenario of anything coming out of this show, you were their only positive influence on children 🤣
@@almamater489 Exactly! That's how I took the episode. Honestly this show wasn't as bad as the video is saying it was.
Mostly unrelated but the fact that you didn't capitalize "ED" is now just making me imagine this show having a crossover episode with Ed Edd n' Eddy 💀
That would be hilarious, would be worth existing just so the Eds could mentally and psychologically rip the Horseland kids to SHREDS
(And, bringing back the topic, that episode proves they deserve it)
UA-cam fulfilling its new algorithm pattern of “well produced deep dives on kids shows you never watched”. Good job recommendations.
Oh hey, someone else knows that episode of Pepper Ann!
w pepper ann
This show has like 5 plot points that it just shuffles around. Like Taco Bell
Right?
1. Misunderstandings/miscommunication
2. Clozo being generally terrible
3. Disability/societal issues
4. HORSE PERIL
5. Actual Grief
Perfect examples like this horse cartoon are:
*Shera 1985, hell all the classic Heman cartoons till New Adventures*
*Pre 90s Casper Hanna Barbera cartoon*
*Most of the 90s Barbie CGI movies*
*G1 My Little Pony*
*Bratz the animated series*
*That racing cartoon starring BamBam and Pebbles from the Flintstones*
*Pole Position*
*That airborne ballerinas cartoon (Sky Dancers?)*
*Highguardian Spice*
*How My Body Works*
*Most 90s Disney shows set in school, not called Gargoyles*
plus they just have 3 character types, the voice of reason, the antagonists, and Plot Device. personality? we don't know her.
Or Chili's owner might be cold-hearted?
When i was a kid I ALWAYS misremembered the white horse's name as Salt, because it fit in with pepper and matched his color scheme.
chilli is grey
Ngl, I’m really sick of how many kids shows write disabled/marginalized characters as valuable to the main cast depending on how much they can contribute to their needs. Idk, it’s just really weird how disabled characters only seem to gain respect in media after their disability can be exploited for a certain use or proven to be an “advantage”… Yikes.
Deviation from the norm will be punished unless its exploitable
It's basically the Dhar Mann style of writing lmao
Just like Rudolph the red nose reindeer.
Her whole shtick is how ppl judge her for being the rich blonde girl ahaah
She and Will are both my favorite characters. I just wish they showed Will more often
The matching outfits, tack and highlights definitely did something to my brain as a child.. I was so obsessed with the show for a time.
