If this one song is all they've made their entire music career, I'd still consider Toy Factory to be up there with the best bands I've ever listened to. It's a brilliant piece of songwriting, an earworm like no other.
Before throwing Kevin hard under the bus. How ironic, her playing on this particular song. It almost could have been written about her, if that wasn't in the future.

Part of the reason that this sounds so good is because it was mastered very well and by the same person who mastered the album most likely and whoever they were they were really really good

@@Guitfiddlejase My understanding from researching this online, (IE. Could be total bullshit) Sheryl Crow and Kevin were an item at this time in their lives. A group of up and coming musicians in the LA music scene used to meet up and jam at someone's house on Tuesday evenings. (Hence the name of her first album "Tuesday Night Music Club". Many great musicians would come and hang out listening to each others music. David Baerwald of David&David fame was amongst them. Anyway, Sheryl was desperately trying to get a record deal. Her songs were OK but nothing special. Kevin and his friends took the time and effort to re-produce her songs to make them more commercially accessible. Apparently, Kevin and some of his friends showed up at the Grammys where she was nominated and won "Best New Artist" that year wearing all black to protest that she took their hard work and gave them no credit. Shortly after this, Kevin took his own life in an accidental suffocation. Not sure if Sheryl Crow had anything to do with Kevin's untimely death. Jenny was raised in a house of cards
A face that could hijack your breath
The legs of a thoroughbred
That's what they said of Jenny Ledge
Into the fray with a Royal Flush
Determined to bring home the gold
And drink from the fountainhead
That's what they said, my Jenny Ledge
How I wished I could answer her prayer
To be held by an honest man
How I wished I could always be there
But my love was not in her plans
Tempted by half-Elvis, half man-about-town
And a life of ease
She runs off with the Vegas King
And I'm nowhere to stand, I can't understand
Why Jenny won't wait for me
Later I held her and asked her why
"This is my house and this is my car
and this is my bed"
That's what she said, my Jenny Ledge
Just a slave to security
She has forgotten the urge to win
All she has is a king and a pair
And a tear for what might have been
So this is the ballad of Jenny Ledge
My anger unspoken
My eyes are learning to cry instead
Love is dead for Jenny Ledge
Once she stood with the world at her feet
And the love of an honest man
Now she sleeps while the world marches by
In the care of an also-ran
