Beautiful song, beautiful backup, Beautiful lady. There will Never be another Chris.. she was one of a kind, Special and Extremely Talented. Miss U Beautiful Singbird..
One of the many reasons Lindsey Buckingham is not only one of the most important guitarist in Rock and Roll history but at least the top 5 guitarist of all time. The music this band made in the 70's & 80's is not only timeless but 2nd to none. Fleetwood Mac has an island all their own. Noone sounded like them then or now. Such great musicians for sure.
Lindsey's guitar playing is so soulfully beautiful and enhances every song so well it brings me to tears. I think this performance of "Why" is phenomenal.
Agree--a really beautiful song that's enhanced tremendously by Buckingham's, as you say, soulful guitar work. So much texture--and the three harmonies at the end is the perfect kicker.
Love these songs so beautiful ! Christine has the most beautiful Sweet Voice ! Love Her ❤️❤️🙏🙏 ( Christine you were the most beautiful Sweet Songbird ! ❤️❤️🙏🙏🌸🏵️🌺💐🌼🍀💛❤️💙💚🇺🇸🇩🇪 Love All Her Muzik ( Why & Over My Head ) She Left A beautiful Legacy ! This is the 11 June 23 ! Her beautiful Sweet Muzik Will Live On Forever ! ❤️❤️🙏🙏🌸🏵️🌺💐🌼🍀💛❤️💙💚🇺🇸🇩🇪
Absolutely beautiful! One of Christine's finest compositions. The amazing 3-part harmonies by Chris, Stevie and Lindsey were just gorgeous. They don't make bands like this anymore kiddies! Their skyrocket to superstardom was just starting here. The success of Fleetwood Mac is shocking to none.
Both Christine and Lindsey remain two of the most underappreciated performers in rock history. As these two performances clearly show, they are among the finest ever. WHY should never have been dropped from the live performance lists, it's one of the best songs Christine ever wrote. I love the guitar riffs Lindsey added to OVER MY HEAD, it added some real movement to the song, and Christine was excellent on lead as usual.
Underappreciated? You’ve got to be kidding!!! 7 Grammy awards! Induction into the rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame! Tens of millions of dollars in the bank. Sold out concerts all over the world. Please!!!
Missing you Christine, , I recall how much I love ❤ the first song here ~”WHY?” ~ From that 1973 Album “Mystery To Me”, , it is so Achingly Beautiful in it’s longing for a Love to somehow change, , “Why Don’t You Just Be Strong?”. Fly Happy and Free into the Eternal Songbird Christine ~🦋~
Sad to hear about Christine's passing today (Nov 30). "Why" is from 1973 (pre-Lindsay and Stevie) but I kinda like this version as well. R I P sweet songbird.
I can't believe this is the first time I've heard this awesome song, "Why." I'm in constant awe of the genius of Lindsey Buckingham. I love his solo work, but he was the creative force in Fleetwood Mac. All were talented, but his guitar playing just put them way over the top. I think he's the best guitar player of all time.
I like the Fleetwood Mac white album better than Rumors -- my mom played the hell out of it back in the 70s. Once a band gets so huge, and you can no longer get away from them, it sometimes becomes easy to forget there's a reason why they became legendary. This video really underscores that.
Stevie looks ethereally gorgeous, and sounds effortlessly harmonic, her chemistry with Lindsey is irreplaceable and His guitar sounds are bewildering. Christine is a songbird beyond compare of any other ballad lyricist, haunting to say the least. What a treasure, thanks for your post.
I think neither Christine nor Lindsay try to grab centre stage - for them, just producing the music is enough. Unlike Stevie, who doesn’t contribute instrumentally, yet ALWAYS grabs centre stage, at the expense of Chris and Lindsay who SHOULD be the centre of attention.
Magical band and performances. The three vocals - great. Lindsey's guitar - always right and tasteful. John McVie is the foundation on both songs holding it down.
I love Bob Weston's guitar work on the studio version of "Why", it's brilliant, goosebump inducing and pretty much inimitable. That's why I like what Lindsey does here, he simplifies it somewhat and makes it his own (I hear bits of "Never Going Back Again" in there). Great version of "Over My Head", the song that knocked me on my ass in the fall of '75 and made me say, "Who the hell is this band and where can I get some more!!!"
@cunard61 The emotional power of "Why" is one of the most haunting songs about love lost I've ever heard. I have so much admiration for Christine McVie. Without her Fleetwood Mac has a big hole they cannot fill. The version of Why on "Mystery to Me" is a masterpiece. You're very right about Christine not getting enough recognition. The album "Buckingham/Nicks" (Polydor) is the album Mick Fleetwood heard that caused him to seek them out to join the band. A fabulous record!
Actually the final decision to bring in Nicks was left up to Christine. They hit it off right away. And as they say, the rest is history.. Mac Had many great records before the Buckingham/Nicks era. That era brought them unprecedented fame and wealth. Something that had been in the works for almost a decade. Black Magic Woman..
Great stuff back in the 1970s, bands are so great in their early years when the creative elements are fresh and new. Christine is really special, Lindsay's guitar playing and harmonies are also very special.
Definitely one of the greatest bands of all time. Why & Over my head classic Fleetwood mac and both are a masterpiece! Love you , Christine Rip. Thank you for your music!
I've been a Fleetwood Mac fan for 15 years and have everything they've done plus solo stuff from 1975 onwards. I don't like blues a great deal and so ignored their pre Stevie and Lindsey albums. Today I discovered this song and listened to it about 20 times in a row. I know this live version features Stevie and Lindsey, but it was originally done 2 years before they joined. A truly magic song, maybe Christine's finest.
dont know if this will make sense....but I was so much younger and different in the 70's...I LOVED this song --kept it in my head-never thought the musicians..now that I am older-I see them as people..instead of "dream/fantasy" objects..
Mystery To Me was the first Fleetwood Mac album I listened to. Everyone remembers Hypnotized from that album, but to me Why was the best track. The song is so beautiful It's stayed with me and stayed a favorite of mine ever since. Lindsay Buckingham does a great job on this version but he never could do the original Bob Weston slide guitar solo that opens the song on the album. I don't think there are any live versions of that on video. Pity.
And here we are admiring Christine's beauty and magical singing. Fly on songbird.. fly on.. with love
Yup..be at peace songbird..meet up with the Albatross..good journey,well done sweetie,well done!!.😑😔✌🍻
I still can't believe it
@@mangomonkey6938 Me Neither😢💔
Beautiful song, beautiful backup, Beautiful lady. There will Never be another Chris.. she was one of a kind, Special and Extremely Talented.
Miss U Beautiful Singbird..
I ❤ all 5 FM together but honestly Christine & Lindsey vocally, creatively and musically were the real secret to the FM success.
One of the many reasons Lindsey Buckingham is not only one of the most important guitarist in Rock and Roll history but at least the top 5 guitarist of all time. You are correct. The expressions on his face say alot also.
You just said it all for me 👍
Understated guitarist greatness.
Christine and Lindsey were musical soulmates.

Christine......the "heart beat" of Fleetwood Mac. RIP great lady.......we'll miss you!!!
Christine is so, so underrated. Love her voice and songs. But the chorus with Christine, Stevie and Lindsey.....Damn it's awesome!!!!!
"Honey Hi" has really beautiful chorus/harmonies
Agreed about the 3 part chorus- its the BEST out there hands down
Absolutely beautiful!
Saw them backing the Eagles back in mid 70s. They brought the magic. Crowd still yelling for Fleetwood Mac after the Eagles took the stage.
RIP Christine McVie these are forever her songs
She's Christine (Perfect) McVie
What's not to love

Why underappreciated? They have sold millions of records and all the concert sold out anywhere they play for long years !!
No that's Bob welch

Stevie walks in from the darkness at 2:20 and steps into the incredibly beautiful three-part harmony. One of the best things FM has EVER done!!!!
Fly Happy and Free into the Eternal Songbird Christine ~🦋~
such an amazing, sad song. their marriage at that time was kind of a mess...but John was with her when she passed away, which is pretty beautiful.
Sad to hear about Christine's passing today (Nov 30). "Why" is from 1973 (pre-Lindsay and Stevie) but I kinda like this version as well. R I P sweet songbird.
Christine was so beautiful. Her voice is straight magical. And I love her hair . What a band

That three part harmony is perfection. Absolutely beautiful.
Love me some Fleetwood Mac❤❤❤
Why is such a beautiful song.
I'm gonna miss you Christine McVie but your great songs will live forever 😰
'Why' is my fave Christine McVie song.. and Lindsey and Stevie's harmonies on it are the icing on the cake. :)
Beautiful song. Happy B day Chris...Hope all your dreams come true. Love ya for many moons. The Mac's Secret weapon. It's you Babe..Ms Perfect.
Lindsey is using a pick for "Over My Head". A rare thing for him!
Lindsey's guitar harmonics on "Over My Head" add to the song.
I agree- christine Perfect is very underrated as a singer and songwriter.....and Lindsey is, as always, a god among men
THE TWO OF YOU. THE BEST OF FRIENDS. RIP CHRISTINE
RIP Christine McVie!

R.I.P. Christine 😢
Over My Head...first time I ever saw Lindsay play with a pick.
looks like a thumb pick- maybe had a cut on the inside thumb print.
wait-just got close up- it is a regular pick-wow!! 1st time I've ever seen himm w/pick as well
He does some..but mainly free handed. He's good on the guitar!
Blasfêmia!!😱
On a Strat, to boot!
God bless you Christine, God's speed ❤️x Lindsey's playing here is exactly how I feel. ❤️
Stevie looks ethereally gorgeous, and sounds effortlessly harmonic, her chemistry with Lindsey is irreplaceable and His guitar sounds are bewildering.
Christine is a songbird beyond compare of any other ballad lyricist,

Chris Maurice well said. Chritine McVie is still one of the most underrated musicians of all time
He doesn't get enough credit. Neither does Christain

@@judeward5341 well christine said she didn't like being center of attention nor she wanted to be a performer or a frontwoman
@@judeward5341 Um, Stevie most certainly did contribute as a first-class songwriter and lyricist!
RIP Christine McVie
Almost bringing me to tears every time. Like a puzzle coming together at a perfect moment.
Beautiful Christine!
This was Lindsey's best look. He rocked the fro and beard.
He was gorgeous! 🔥
Christine is just incredible! Plain and simple.
2x Female vocalist of the year in the UK..
Christine voice was so very beautiful ❤
Peak Christine McVie, absolutely beautiful and an amazingly talented singer song writer.

One of the best songs ever
What a great performance of "Why"
I don't know that anything has ever sounded quite as good as those three voices singing together. I needed this today.
J, P, and G sounded pretty good too.
@@mangomonkey6938 very true 👍
I saw them in concert a few times during the late 1970s, incredible concerts. They don't have bands like this today JMO.
A classic Fleetwood Mac song that works really well with Buckingham Nicks line up. Gorgeous!
It’s really unreal we lived this music with them. We were there. Xo
