To me Christine McVie is the jewel in this remarkable band. She does not get as much recognition as she deserves. She has one of the finest voices in the business, I think.
I was at the 1975 Atlanta concert. I went in prepared to not like Stevie for displacing Christine. She won me over. I loved the work they did together. But yes, Christine is amazing. But she was never a showperson. She just played and sang the songs aMAZEballs. Or as my friend Lily says, aMAZEboobs.
Christine's voice melted me like a dollar store candle one night in 1975 as I read the lyrics and listened to Warm Ways for the first time. Look up the second verse and just try to imagine what that was like for a high school wanna-be musician who had never heard a girl play music the way she played. I was 17, and 47 years later I still swear she nearly killed me with her voice that night.
@@kbtube8125 I so miss her.... and the old band, both pre Buckingham/Nicks and the post 1975 group. First time I ever saw them live was shortly after Lindsey was "canned" Sad, that was. The sound was OK, but not the same. At least, Christine got to spend her last few years back with the band!
This is an amazing song. Written with a syncopated guitar part. Then trying to keep the beat in your head when to sing. Incredible percussion. The beauty of the band called Fleetwood Mac!
God speed, Songbird. Christine didn't receive the recognition that Stevie Nicks did; but she was more important to Fleetwood Mac. Her well crafted songs were delivered in that smoky, bluesy alto with keyboard work which was criminally underrated. She was a woman pioneer of English pop music when it wasn't that easy to be taken as more than eye candy or a novelty. Her voice and Lindsey's mesh so well here and on songs like Don't Stop, Think About Me, and Hold Me.
There is no one else like Lindsey Buckingham, whether with Fleetwood Mac or solo. I've seen him both ways and his enthusiasm and appreciation for the audience is remarkable! Love him!!!
Even when Lindsey and Stevie relationship and tensions are legendary, I really love Linsdey and Christine duets, like World Turning, Don't Stop, Hold Me, Think About Me. All of them Christine's gems, by the way. Stevie as lyricist is a genius but people forget the most prolific of them three, in terms of making hits in charts, was actually Christine.
But for me, Lindsey's songs rock the most and are the most uplifting. IMHO, Monday Morning and Second Hand News are the two best Fleetwood Mac songs, and they were written by Lindsey.
Wonderful. Whatever they perform, winners in everything they have ever, ever written and performed. Now we are in a time where we celebrate them now that they are leaving us one by one. With each one passing, I lose a piece of my youth and a piece of my heart. Thank you for the beautifully written music and the performances of a lifetime.
For me, this performance highlights the importance of John McVie's solid but often underrated contribution to the Fleetwood Mac sound (regardless of lineup). It's always sad to me to watch FM videos and read the cmments or read fan forums and hardly see him mentioned at all. All the other members get their share of praise and love from the fans but John McVie never gets his dues IMO (even Mick's antics and faces while drumming get mentioned more often than John's solid bass work). Maybe it's because bassists as a whole are often underappreciated or maybe it's because John's the average looking bloke jamming away on the bass in the background while Buckingham, Nicks & co. stage presence steals all the limelight. It's just sad to me, because he deserves more praise for his contribution to all the lineups of Fleetwood Mac from the beginning till the end.
He sure stands out in The Chain. Who knows, maybe he prefers to be in the background. Maybe he’s always been able to put on a hat, go to the store for cigs and not get noticed. Not the case for the other four.
Mick, John, Christine, Stevie, and Lindsey, if any of you beautiful souls are reading this, just know you've got a fan for life who loves all of you and looks up to each and every one of you for musical guidance. You continue to inspire me everyday. Much, much love to all of you. 💜💖💙

An amazing freak coincidence of talent, especially their voices which blend so perfectly ... when you compare this version of Fleetwood Mac with the earlier ones, you can see they where fast on their way to obscurity, and then along came Stevie and Lindsey, and the whole thing just made sense: it was lightening in a bottle.
god this UA-cam is so amazing... how lucky we are to have this stuff...
Ive been a fan since the early 70's I never tire of their music
One of the best FM performances I've seen on this channel--raw and edgy.
I saw this concert open in SD in 1976 . I was 17 still this best concert I have ever watched . Truth be !!!!
Kept it tight for TV. Superb performace with a driving beat!
This band was a showcase for gifted musicians from beginning to end.....no less....
This was the tune that helped me make the leap from the Bob Welch era to the Buckingham/Nicks era. Almost didn't buy the record when I saw Bob was gone. Don't know if I would have tried without this song. Glad I did, though.
I love this! Great funky bassline and gorgeous harmonies. Great to listen to in the morning - it puts me in a good mood.
Vintage early Mac and one of my favorites and got to see them that year and many other years! Get down Fleetwood Mac
Whenever hard times hit I always come back to this song
I was there. I was 11. This was at the Capitol Center in Largo, Maryland outside Washington D.C...1976 was a great year, that of OUR BICENTENNIAL L, which I will never forget... Correction. The background iconography identifies it as a television broadcast of Barry Sugarman's and Kroft's MIDNIGHT SPECIAL...
This is insane...love it !!!
Always liked the bit where John comes in with the bassline at 4:10.
Stevie is mesmerizing to watch.
I was living in Savannah, Ga when the album came out, January 1976, and we will blast the bass and the drums in our Marantz...
I agree. They still sound AWESOME today (especially Lindsey)!! Glad that you enjoyed this video, It's one of my faves!! (:
only 15 years. thanks. i was in service and younger then. 1976.
