Dont know whats with the negative comments. Dude built an awesome barn with tools and friends that a regular person would have. Not like the guys that build for a living. Good job dude
I recommend after a couple years of the siding drying completely, you give your barn a good coat of paint. It's amazing how rapidly rough cut pine will begin to deteriorate if left unprotected from the elements. Having built a several barns myself, I know from experience. Beautiful barn by the way. I know how proud you are of your accomplishment. No one can ever take your hard work away.
Congrats. What a joy to watch your build. Inspired me to do the same up in Michigan. Next build a two story playhouse "with" your boys with hand tools. Make sure an adult can sleep in it.
Thank you so much. I will try to ask thecompany who can try to make the barn in france. Its is so beautiful. Congratulations. I am asking the wood (pine wood) now. Thanks
I like this style. I’m going to build one like this but going to buy power poles and bury them in the ground. Can be done cheap if you get poles that are too small for the utility company to use. But I like the way yours turned out!
If you’re in a deep frost zone you need a tube all the way down to what is preferably a footing then backfill around the tube with drain rock. Otherwise the frost will cause the dirt to grab the tube and heave in the winter.
@@miketoopitsin9449 I’m a structural engineer. Yes, what you suggest is correct. But if you’re drilling the foundations it’s not practical. The frost depth for footings is not how deep the frost goes. The frost will only go a foot or so deep. When the concrete is poured against the rough edges of the hole it locks into the soil. The extra two feet of footing below the actual frost is what keeps the footing from being jacked out of the hole by the frost. Locking it into the soil provides a lot more resistance to uplift than the smooth sides of the tube.
@@johnritchie3889lol engineers. I'm an engineer but you are so wrong frost can reach alot deeper.. especially on ground you've removed the topsoil like this or land that is large and tilled. I would wager you don't dig holes in areas where it's cold so perhaps you should not talk about it like you do "engineer"
@@thenarrator1984 That would be why I said “… or so”. My point was that much of the footing is there to resist frost heave. If the frost went all the way to the bottom of the footing, there would be no resistance to heave.
@@ProjectDadLife you did a great job, I have been a carpenter for 33 years, I can appreciate the work you’ve put into that barn. The only thing I haven’t built yet is a barn.
Good build, only issue i saw is the roofing was screwed down in the valley rather than ridge, which will cause future issues as the rubber washer brakes down. Great video though keep it up
why do people notch the pole and then put on 2 of the 2x10 or 2x12 nail together on the pole? would it be there to just get square poles like the ones on the corners?? just trying to learn something new

Omg what a beautiful barn!!! Love the board and batten! We want..”NEED” a barn so bad and planning on a pole barn. Enjoyed watching this! Thank you for sharing! Hoping you did a walk around for it!! I know you’re proud!!
I love to see a good two-man crew doing it right. Even those shorter guys. I would suggest that you put wind braces in the lower corners. And on those uprights resting on concrete. Very nice work.
Thats not a budget pole barn people. Dude wasted money on sonu tobes, and post brackets. barns are still standing 50 years with posts in the dirt, if you treat them with oil and burn the base first.
Lumber ain't what it was even just 50 years ago. Personally, I'd just suck it up and build a stem wall/footer surround a foot high and build off of that. Like the old block foundations.
Another great video, beautiful barn and you make it looks so easy.♥ We build them a little smaller here in the UK - ua-cam.com/video/48ZSlGnI6JY/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
@@ProjectDadLife idk anyone who has used a crane for a barn (who was on a budget), but it's better than 8k. I guess it depends on financial abilities/situation.

Yeah just the side wall right now with the 1x8s or 1x10s or whatever is like $2500 in of itself! Crazy how fast a barn can rack up in cost.
Great call on the crane for lifting the roof. Great work yall.
Thanks! It was my favorite part.
Ive watched a bunch of these episodes but enjoyed this compilation time lapse. Bonus is I realized you are in N GA! Like y'all even more now😉
Thanks bud! Yep north GA has been home my whole life.

Agreed and if you don’t wanna change the color of the wood, you can always use a clear product

Exceptional build, lads.
Love seeing it come together!

What is the size of the barn? I'm looking at building a 40×60×12 with a 12×60×9 addition either on one or both sides.
It’s 40x48
Great building & video 👍🇬🇧
Thank you i really enjoyed this build
What a great job, should be proud of what you have built ❤
Great video! Wish I was younger and had your ambition to do something similar!
Thank you! I don’t feel young after some of these projects lol

Where can i find the blue prints?
Are we able to purchase like the plans and everything you used to build this?
Hello thanks for the video this is wonderful. Which thicknes did you use for the wood cladding on the side and whats the size of the width? Thanks

Did you add some kind of treatment to the wood to keep it looking new.. tan wood color? Or are you going to let it turn Grey w age?
Awesome build

You’re the only youtuber that I have seen do the sonotubes correctly. Just to form the top of the foundation. You let the concrete lock into the soil.
Thanks man. I’ve always wondered why people do it the other way seems like a lot of play would be left

Hi I wonder how much in wood did it cost. And what type of wood is it?
Nice work! Great Barn.
Thank you
how long did this take from start to finish?
About 6-7 months! It went a lot slower than expected honestly

How long did this take to build? Why build the roof on the ground? Curious
Now that's a barn.
What was the cost of this build?

How much about did the whole project total up to

$400 crane rental versus $8000 for a framing company to build it! Id say that’s on a budget

It does definitely fall into the category of cost trade offs.
