Building a Large Garage FULL TIME LAPSE: Never before seen footage!!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- I filmed this entire build series, about a year ago, and never had time to edit it into a full video series. We built our customers a 40x60x16 residential style post frame garage, and finished the interior to prep for a man cave. Take a watch, wait til the end, and tell me what you think. I'll be honest, there isn't an easier, more cost effective way to build a large scale garage, than to use post frame construction. Let me know what you think, drop me a comment below, and hit the subscribe button, because we've got some great projects coming in 2025! I used my GoPro time-lapse setting on my Hero 13 Black for 90 percent of this video.

The fit and finish are so good that it makes the drone footage at the end look almost like a computer rendering. Thanks for the very satisfying video and taking the time to anticipate the shots required to produce this time lapse.
Time-lapse is good from time to time but I really enjoy the commentary and dialogue you and Greg add to the video. I've said it before, your musical selections on your time-lapse videos are outstanding.
What an inspiration you guys have been for me! Im a self employed carpenter and built an addition on my shop in 2008. Well it been in typar house wrap for 16 years "kinda embarrassing". But i finally decided to do rugged rib steel on the walls. The cost was quite significantly cheaper than diamond coat siding. Went with a charcoal crinkle. In the 26 years ive been self employed ive only dont sheet steel on a big shop we did years ago. Its not quite as easy as lap siding i can say that. The tips and tricks in your videos have got me through the project. The main one was leaving out top j channel. I did struggle with a few sheets where the j channel was on boths sides and top of gable but i can say its done and all my neighbors are really happy with the outcome! I cant thank you guys enough for getting me to the finish line! Aaron-great falls montana!
Amazing what only 2 guys can do in such a short time! I dont know why i love watching your videos. You hipnotize me.
Wow! This goes together so much faster when Kyle isn't talking all of the time. 😂🤣
I didn't learn much though
That is why I do not mind him talking you learn something
Missed the instruction and most definitely the banter with Greg.
Amazing work, you guys work well together! If I lived in your geographical area, you’d be building me something special. Keep up the great videos!
The Timelapse videos are always fun to watch!
Thank you for the holiday video. You know you could’ve made this video four hours long and we still would’ve watched all of it.. happy Thanksgiving
Have I seen you guys build 25 of these? Yes. Did I still watch the entire time-lapse? Also, yes.
Thats real good in 16 days!!. I remember a few years ago you did a similar building, put on the RED outside panels, Customer didnt like, so you had to take all the RED panels down and put a different colour up. Good Job guys.
wieder mal eine super saubere Arbeit abgeliefert echt klasse
Very sharp looking . Amazingly what the 2 of you can get done in 16 days !!!
Awesome! I love watching ya'll work 😅 All kidding aside, that was badass.
It still amazes me how efficient you 2 guys are. It was so nice to see it all put together in a time-lapse with the helpful captions. If you ever do another caption style, without making it too wordy, I'd love to see what each of you are doing... "Kyle does ... while Greg does the ..." or "Kyle does this while Greg has the day off. etc...etc. Show off your efficiency.
Remarkable, you two guys are a productive team.
Not your biggest built, but in my book one of your best!! Simple structure, good choice of materials (classic red exterior, I like the dark stone) and a clean interior with that plywood wall to support shelves and workbenches. Funny how a small porch took probably more days than the main structure :), but it makes the looks.
I love watching the process of the great work you two do. Some day I will have my small but dream shop 28X32 built.
Отличный результат!
You both make it all look so easy. It isn’t but that it appears that way is testament to your skill and professionalism. Amazes me every time I watch one of your builds.
I totally agree with you great job well done
Very well said!
You guys are awesome.😎. You have everything dialed. I always spend half my time looking for my tape.
This is so cool
Man I love watching these videos and appreciate your true craftsmanship and way you truly care about the job you do I wish you were closer to PA I’d hire you in a heartbeat
Good looking building. Who else here would have used the same gray on the roof for the wainscot? 🙋♂
Good job as usual. I think the stone should have been put on other side of the big door also.
I'm always amazed the concrete works out without rebar and not being that deep into the ground. Kudos to whoever calculated this and thanks for the nice video
I like these time lapse videos. Nice work!
Great work as usual.
This video was a hoot! 😊🤙
Great video. I am, impressed.
Beautiful shed, I like the gable style porch
Would love to see you go back when customer has fitted this out!
Beautiful work
Nice and spacious workshop getaway. 👍
Building looks very nice.
Great work fellas. 16 days is amazing. And I know the level of detail and quality you put in made it an amazing shop. 2 questions. What is the ball park on something like that? Do you travel to the east coast?
16 days sounds like a big sack always appreciate your videos thank you
AMAZING, SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!
Man would that be great!
I really want to see you filming the slab installs. But enjoy your builds bro.
Look how much faster you are when you don't have to stop to explain everything to the viewers! 😄
Nice job guys. If I had the land and the money I would get you guys to build me a shop. Take care and catch you on the next one.
just a rough job is ok . just make it look good. i want it great .............. I want it Kyle.👌👍
When you get an extra 20 minutes can you swing by Rock Falls and throw up one of these for me ? lol.
Very good job 👌
great video guys
I would really like to see/know how the concrete floor gets finished and how it looks with having those concrete piers.
Wouldnt do concrete piers if they were pouring a slab. If they poured a slab then the brackets for the post would be mounted into the slab 👍🏻
Awesome shop
Great job. Thanks
That's amazing how you can knock out that building in 16 days. You two bust ass and get er done.
Great job
Construction ballet mastery. Stunning efficiency in the design of the work flow.
Where I live you would get (at least) one volleyball to basketball size rock (190 to 241 mm) per hole -- really slows things down.
I'd be interested to see what the lumber package is for something like this.
Do you ever share pricing for what you charge for these? I’m amazed every time how quick 2 guys can put one of these up.
The soundtrack for this video is awesome
The build is awesome too lol
Thanks
Great job.🤓🇫🇷
Wow! Nice work!
Isulated walls but none in the roof? Was it to be blown in later?
If i ever have the money, i would fly you, your crew & and family, to Australia to build me 1 of these amazing barns, including shipping all the materials
Did the ceiling not get insulated? Or did I just miss it?
Mastery
that hole digger’s rad!
Question. Why do the wainscoting in thr same color? What benefit does it have over one single sheet of steel?
That is really hauling ass. I built a 1700 square-foot conventionally framed garage with a regular foundation in it start to finish. It was right at five weeks framing siding roofing slab. Did it all even arrange to have plumbing put in it
Love the video amazing on only 16 days start to finish!! What is the approximate cost for something of the size? Keep the videos coming!!!
Rockstars!
You guys are faaaaast....
Such a great looking building! Genuinely curious, what is the benefit of having the same color wainscott and upper wall steel, vs just using one piece for the whole wall? Also, I was curious about how you guys start the gable wall steel on a ripped sheet and end on a ripped sheet. I like how it is symmetrical to have two equal pieces on either end, but is it also okay to just start with full sheets and end with a 12" piece?
Nice build. I have one question : is there no roof insulation? I watched the entire video and did not see it. Marc from Belgium (I don't know the first thing about building so this might be a
stupid question)
I was asking myself the same question. Most heat loss occurs through ceiling so makes no sense not to insulate ii?
Great looking building, as always. One question...since the metal wainscoting on most of the building was the same color as the upper walls, I was wondering if there was a reason to use wainscoting at all, instead of simply running the wall panels full height. Maybe it was done to visually connect with the stone wainscoting in the porch area.
I think it’s just an aesthetic choice, without it the building would look much ‘cheaper’. It’s adds class.
Disclaimer: no idea what I’m talking about
It is cheaper to NOT put up wainscoting but that way is more expensive to maintain. If a vehicle or implement damages the outer cladding it is cheaper to replace a short piece of wainscoting than a full sheet.
Love your work and attention to detail have a question I know you sells plans but do you travel to build or have connections with other quality builders I possibly am interested in building either in Pennsylvania or West Virginia appreciate any information thanks Pat
Great video. What would be the total cost of exactly what you did on that project ? Thanks, Steve
Do these pole/post barns need a vapor barrier on the roof to prevent drip ?
Show de bola 🎉🎉🎉
I rewound several time… when and how did you install the ceiling batts?
Was wondering the same
Funny at ~14:28 the house ramp seem to pulse with the music
You've probably already explained it in the past, but... why do you and others leave pouring a floor until after the building is up? Wouldn't, basically everything, be easier if the floor was already there?
I am planning to be putting up a barndominuim in the next couple years. It's going to be 1/2 post frame and 1/2 stick built. Hopefully, I can do it in 2 phases starting with the garage portion..
I have an idea that I haven't seen before - reverse spray foam.... True the frame, install the inner liner, spray foam from the outside, then sheet it.
Have any thoughts on this?
What happens about the floor and is the front corner by the porch going to be turned into a office
Sometimes it might be nice to go back and see what these brand were finished like?
Hard hats and hi-vis vest? what is this an osha safety video or post frame construction site?
Stop it Karen
hey kyle quick question, how do you get you post height efficiently when your peirs arent all exactly level with each other? reference laser plus whatever is needed to equal height?
Looks like the wall to roof flashing on porch may not be quite correct. Usually the tyvek would go over the flashing. At 12:45 it looks like the flashing is on top of the tyvek and it doesn't look taped. But even tape isn't enough to flash properly. Unlike a zip or weatherlogic system. Maybe I just can't see it from video.
Great job otherwise!
ANOTHER recliner professional speaks😂😂😂😂😂😂
I actually build about 26 $1m+ houses per year. Definitely not on the recliner. Just trying to help out because, like every builder, I don't do everything correct all of the time, and appreciate when others point something out that I may have missed. Because warranty items are a nightmare, and I'm always looking to improve.
Nice Timelapse! Curious about 2 things: How come zip on the porch roof but not whole building? And the wrap doesn’t go on all the way up the end walls?
See below for first question. They don't wrap the peak because it's not a conditioned space.
Owner must be happy with that.
What’s the rough price on this ?
Nice work! Curious, why did you put sheathing under the steel on the porch roof?
To handle the additional load of snow dropping from the main roof.
As a rough number what did this build cost?
why does this area look familiar, Kyle? Did you do something else here?
Here it's probably just my Scandinavian way of thinking that comes into play. You put some form of insulation on the wall but nothing in the floor and ceiling, so you might as well not put anything in the walls. The biggest heat loss comes from the ceiling, which seeks heat upwards and the cold of the earth draws into the house from below.
It is important to have about 400 mm of "16 inch" insulation in your ceiling, if possible.
If you are installing an all-terrain deck, you should put about 300 mm of "12 inch" insulation. 🤔🤔🤫🤠😎
They put up a slide at 20:41 R-38 fiberglass for the ceiling and R-19 for the walls. I'm guessing the property owner is going to be pouring a concrete floor later, MAYBE with foam underneath although that's not common for a shop/storage barn.
Are the windows not cut out the ply for a reason?
What gauge are those metal panels?
What did this building cost?
Wonder what a sq foot price is on a building like that?
Why do wainscoting the same color as ty upper siding ? I guess why even make a break in the sheet ?
Is that getting a pad poured for the floor? What's the point in insulating with a gap down there?
Would really like to know how to floor is getting finished. Are they backfilling with dirt/gravel or pouring concrete?
Yes
Normally they have a pad poured
Where is roof insulation? Wow you do good work!
Says R38 ceiling.
Yeah, I was wondering the same, i never saw the roof get any insulation.
We don’t do that work
It gets blown in later.
wonder what the sf price on that was
I'll take one please
I wonder what this cost?
Ballpark price?
I made it about half way before I got uninterested in the time laps of this thing, Kyle.
Labor and material cost for something like that ???
Why didn’t you insulate the ceiling? Wth
