glassimageproduction It's kinda spooky how similar Fat Jon and Nujabes sound, considering they are literally from opposite sides of the planet. I love both of them dearly.
+TheMadisonMachine There is no way I can sufficiently describe how much I agree with you on this. I am a diehard hip hop fan, preferring anything classic, and the folks you speak of hit the nail on the head. The only jams I've listened to more over the years have been People Under the Stairs and Wu Tang. Without Fat Jon though I wouldn't be the hip hop head I am today, and I have Champloo to thank, in some respects.

I still remember when this song got me through the second semester stress of Grade 10... For most of the days I came home, I felt like shit. Then once I put this song on, everything just changed... It just alleviated the stresses of life and took me to another world...
The first forty seconds reminds you of Mugen arguing with Fuu to flee for her life, and to let him fight her battle that's actually his from his past. One of the greatest songs ever composed.
No track in the world relaxes me more than "your purpose", with that constant plucking of the shamisen or whatever that is. And it's the one track I think they should a made room for on the champloo soundtrack. Thank you God for fat jon. He cures road rage. Try it
Samurai champloo was deep for just one season. I guess maybe thats why they never made a season 2, theres so many hidden gems, the viewer gets different feed back from rewatching episodes. And the sound track makes it worth watching again and again.
Every time i’ve come here over the years I’ve read this comment and it aways puts me in such a good mood, like i can be a peace for these 4 minutes and just vibe to this fuckin epic jam of a song
I always felt that most of the episodes not following each other fit the theme of the show perfectly. The name of the show Samurai Champloo roughly translates to "Samurai Mixed Up", and we as the viewers were led on an adventure following 3 characters that had nothing but one thing in common -- pursuing new purpose in their life.
Am I the only person that firmly believes Morgan Freeman should've been a Jedi Master? I think he would've been a beast ass master....like almost Samurai like. Lol
I heard this song from samurai champloo episode 25. I tried lookin for it for days and finally found it! Awesome! I think Mugen looked better with his hair wet.
the first time i heard it was in samurai champloo. I didn't know the name of the song so I recorded the scene where Fuu was walking towards her fathers shelter. Thanks to youtube, this song was an instant buy on iTunes. Love this song.
My dog just passed away whiles I was busy writing my exam. I knew he wasn't in a good state prior to the exam and whiles writing I couldn't even concentrate so my performance wasnt even that great. I didn't think it would escalate this quick, that id loose him in just 3 hours. Today wasn't my day

Your Purpose...this song dedicates the purpose of Samurai Champloo story, a journey of friendships, loyalty and sacrifice, without saying or expressing any damn words about it...!
I'm so glad Fat Jon, Nujabes, Tsutchie, and Force of Nature put so much work into the soundtrack for Samurai Champloo.
TheMadisonMachine At first, I thought Nujabes was the only composer, but it turns out that I was wrong...
this song is quite a gem

Damn you brought me back
mugen giving up his sword for fuu is probably one of the most bittersweet things ive ever seen in any anime ever

He's a soul physician. An ample one
Whats this album called?

Hell yea bro this music got me through tough days of highschool to man...
+glassimageproduction spring semester grade ten was when i started listening to him too
Must be really shitty highschool
Fucking same man. Fat Jon and Nujabes is what helped me survive those days of bullshit.
How old are you now?
Heard this song from one of the final episodes of Samurai Champloo and spent forever trying to find it. Glad I finally did!
The feels. Love when that piano is brought in.
So true man. I feel the same.. Did you notice the repetition of the first few notes a few times before the tune starts flowing?
samurai champloo is truly god tier, i hope it gets revisited someday
Just watch Watanabe's other show, they're all certified bangers
No need that story has already been told
@ don’t mean there can’t be more, like a Megalobox adaptation for an anniversary like Ashita No Joe had, etc
One of the most mesmerizing beats I have ever heard

The sample is "Beyond The Sun" by McCoy Tyner. Great choice 👍
yes I was listening to that album and recognized it
Uyama Hiroto also sampled that song on nightwood
I noticed that too lol. I recognize a lot of samples now that I've gotten into jazz.
The feels! It was cool when mugen told fuu to go while this song was playing
THAT FEEL when jin almost die bro.... i had heebie jeebies and almost cry
Ahahahahaha same!!! I thought both mugen and jin was going to end up dying at the end, samurai shamploo really took us through a wild journey
Simeon Real I just watched it again after a few years. It still made me cry.
Bro this song .......touched my soul not my heart but my soul THAT'S JUST HOW AWESOME THIS IS
i'm listening this song everyday all week long
The thing that I love with fat Jon is the time signature he use with drums & out of nowhere off samples combined.
Fat Jon is the king of drums imho, the melodies are great, but the percussion is what does it for me usually
