Some tracks are music in its perfect representation of the craft, sonics and genre. I want to thank a man you all may know as DJ Mad Lynx, one of the final rap city host. That man introduced me to this type of hiphop in the mid 90's in Tampa. He came on the air at 11pm-3am Saturday Nights, WMNF 88.5, the show was called the Underground Railroad. At some point this became the theme/bumper music on the show. Great fuquin memories and times with my dual cassette player trying to make a mixtape for the week. Back to DIlla, his work transcended what everyone else did with the craft, it is insane how great this sounds and all of the different thoughts its invoking!
A rapper that goes by the name of “Lute” and is signed to j coles dreamville label used this song for a beat on his song called “still slumming” which is the first time I had ever heard this beat this just tells me how great j dilla really was and how relevant he still is.

Has any one even noticed what’s going on in the background? Not all, but pretty much a good amount of James’ beats will have some unique sounds playing in the background. Once you sit N listen for quite some time you’ll begin to not even hear what’s obviously playing that keeps us all so in love with this beat & notice something new! Then I’ll be like “WHuuuTt”? Open my eyes & put my ears a little closer to the speaker or (turn up the volume) & it ain’t there no more? Which I know it is I’ve just realized that once I took my focus off it, it was practically back to sitting down for another 15-30 min to try and catch those sounds again lol
