- The other version got taken down, so I bought the beat on vinyl and made it into a 15 minute loop. Enjoy my favorite piece of music of all time

I left a comment on this video over a year ago saying how this was my go to song for doing school and life in general. I'm a month away from graduating highschool now. I know J Dilla's music way better now and I've learned so much since I left that original comment. This beat goes on forever. I'm finalizing so many things to graduate and close one chapter and start the next. I'm starting my career as an artist and J Dilla has become one of my main inspirations for living by my art. If you took the time to read this, thank you. Thank you J Dilla, I'll keep this one bumping forever, rest in power.
P.S. Don't Cry still makes my eyes water everytime I play it despite the hundreds of times I've heard it.
Deam man, sounds not only great you doing good in live, youre having great inspiration. I`m at the same Point, just seen 2 different comments about from a year and while looking back, so much happened till then. Where can i find your music?
Ayo, good on you for moving on your dreams. If you ever get discouraged remember you're in it for the marathon. Part of winning is failing so you can learn something. Best wishes

good shit!!! i feel that way about ALLOOOOT of rap artists ,(old &newunderground ,some turned into trends for apps unfortunately . but i got to experience some peace with it for a while when i was growing even tho it was mostly by myself and i never got to (keep) sharing with anyone like that. but it means we r meant to do something with it 😊 ik i will always be humble and cherish it

He really made magic, I remember being obsessed with this beat like 3 years ago to the point that I woke up with it and went to bed with it because it always made me feel good and calm physically and mentally. Coming back to this now after a long while not listening to it and it makes me feel the same good way it always made me feel, this just proves that Dilla made timeless magic, the beats are filled with soul and substance not just baps and noises being chopped up, it has meaning and that is something like life, it makes us feel the whole mystery of it without really knowing exactly what it is but it makes us feel good and happy.

Two steps back just to get it right
Exactly. I find my favourite songs use beats that are from a totally different era. I was running through Aquemini a few weeks ago and realized that J.Coles Land of the Snakes takes Da Art of Storytelling pt 1’s beat 🤯
JDilla always showed less is more, but still had so much depth when he crafted a beat.
Rest In Peace

His beats are so weird to me i feel like the music isnt doing so much structurally but Sonically it’s doing everything it has to to satisfy my ears rip j dilla! your different!!
Lol this is the 2 step of beats lol it's super funky unique and original but yet it has its own spin/sound to it.

if you want structural shit Donuts is the way
@TrumpLovers EatFeces bro what is wrong with you? lmao
Has any one even noticed what’s going on in the background? Not all, but pretty much a good amount of James’ beats will have some unique sounds playing in the background. Once you sit N listen for quite some time you’ll begin to not even hear what’s obviously playing that keeps us all so in love with this beat & notice something new! Then I’ll be like “WHuuuTt”? Open my eyes & put my ears a little closer to the speaker or (turn up the volume) & it ain’t there no more? Which I know it is I’ve just realized that once I took my focus off it, it was practically back to sitting down for another 15-30 min to try and catch those sounds again lol
Yeah, there's a water droplet riser sound and tape hiss that adds to the beat.

Check out the fragments he sampled (i.e. Perigeo - Via Beato Angelico) for this joint and you understand his supernatural talent. The same for his joints "Sunbeams", "Nag Champa", and so many others. His tapes "The 1996 What Up Doe Sessions" and "The New Slave" are masterpieces (among others). Still baffled by his talent and vision.

Big THANK YOU for buying that vinyl and uploading this mesmerizing song
This is saving my life it's so good at keeping you okay and in awe or at least a feeling that there's more to life than you already know.
Type of song I be bumping after I clock out of work and my boys tell me to pull up to the spot with a 32 of cheap beer or sum. Skate down to the local liqour store, and sit on the roof with my boys to watch the sun set on a friday night. Doesn't get any more organic than that, does it.
Bruh literally bought the vinyl edition and made a loop out of it cause the video got taken down. Legendary shit man, nice work

How does a mf human being create this….yet only a human can grasp such emotional intelligence in music. This shit is on the in and edge of time and human emotion this man created something beyond the realm of earth and of himself.
