I work at a Bath & Body Works in MN and this is literally a running joke to us. One year for Halloween two associates dressed up as "Jen" and the other dressed up as a Peach Bellini candle. That just shows how seriously we take this woman

I work at bath and body works and by corporate rules we can not give "free items" only coupons and the 800 number.
I can understand that. People would abuse the system so hard, if they could get free stuff.
This parody is perfection. Angela's accurate costume, "Jen"s name in quotes on her name tag, the tears in Angela's eyes at 2:25, those perfectly timed hair flips, Angela looking apologetic to camera to assure us she wasn't ACTUALLY using the f-word. This is more than a parody. It's a work of art.

This woman is the quintessence of what makes working in customer service unbearable. People think they're entitled to treat you however they want or demand free stuff that you can't give them just because they raise their voice. Ridiculous.

That’s why I quit my job a few months ago, fuck that. Worked at Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, Kroger deli, and Publix deli, as well as an usher for football games where the one thing I had to say was get from behind the red line and people still had an attitude with me even when I’m being as nice as possible. I swear to god some people really want me to come across the counter and smack them into manners.
Well, the worker DID drop the ball. Giving away one free item isn't as serious as losing your job over a complaint, or bad publicity. And if she's scared of having to explain why she had to give a free item away, she could've just put her own money on it, and literally paid for her mistake, and kept it moving.
I've received free items as apologies, without even asking for them. It's just good customer service to have rapid responses, and reparations. It's not just because someone raises their voice. It's because you made a mistake, and need to own up to it.
The biggest bowl in a $50 baking set I received, was horribly cracked, during shipping. I didn't need to return my broken item, or even send proof that it was broken. I just told them that it was broken, and they sent me another full set, free of charge. People appreciate stuff like that. You wouldn't like feeling like you wasted YOUR time/money, because of someone else's mistake.
Shops should give out coupons to anger management classes.

I can see why this woman has problems in stores, she has an abrasive personality and a huge entitlement attitude. plus a filthy mouth. Believe me no one will go out of their way to help you if you act this way. Iam amazed this person doesn't have the grace to feel embarrassed. No shame for shameful behavior.

Bird It could’ve been even the simplest mistake in stock. It happens all the time. I understand it’s highly inconvenient and annoying as hell on part of a customer but, we can’t compensate for every little mistake that is made by giving out free stuff. Depending on the severity, corporate ultimately decides on your compensation. If we do, we lose our jobs more often than not because retail employees are pretty easy to replace if the company sees you’re costing them money. Honestly, kinda goes hand in hand with the whole “ the customer’s always right” concept which is BS nowadays.

I can’t blame her for being a bit upset, not so much about the candle itself, but the fact that it sounds like she called ahead to verify that the merchandise was there and would be set aside for her and she then had to drive quite a distance because the stores local to her didn’t have it. She took a lot of time and gas money, presumably, for nothing because of the manager’s mistake. I would be a bit peeved myself. If it was just a trip to the local store, no big deal.
When I say the Winter Candy Apple and Iced Gingerbread scents were NOT worth it....

I used to think the B&BW video was hilarious--until I started working at a B&BW store. Nothing against Angela, I know the video is old and she was just having a bad day, but she seriously overreacted. I understand her frustration because "Jen" made a mistake about the candles, but to flip out like she did just pisses me off. People seem to think that just because B&BW is a happy, fun environment that we just let customers do whatever they want and have whatever they want, but it doesn't work that way, we have store and company policies just like everyone else. When something is out of our hands and we can't do anything else about an issue, we tell customers to take it to our Customer Service center, which is what Jen was referring too when she told Angela about the phone number on the receipt. In store managers can only do so much so when customers have complaints that are out of their control, they just hand the issues over to customer service because they are higher up and can deal with situations like those better.
We also just can't give merchandise out for free just because someone was dissatisfied. Calling the district managers won't do anything, especially not get a manager fired. I believe B&BW ended up sending her those candles for free, but they most likely did that just to keep her business because they hate losing money, like any other company would. I looked on her channel and saw several long rants on B&BW which leads me to believe that she's had multiple personal issues in our store(s) but yet refuses to stop shopping there. At that point, she has no one to blame but herself.

I agree with what you said but you don’t quite get the gist of this whole candle obsession that Angela and others do - in all earnestness - share. BBW, Yankee and a few others like in Macy’s and JC Penny are kinda “retail line candles”. Angela has some back history running this game on more upscale suppliers. Root Candles in Medina OH traditionally known as the top US candle manufacturer from pure beeswax promptly told Angela to jump in the lake when she started abusing other customers there. Her rants turned racist, bigoted and homophobic which is why Root cut her off their promo list for her shitty UA-cam reviews of candles. She is however a genuine died in the wool candle junkie though. And a certified asshole on top of it.

I was on her side until she thought she was entitled to free stuff. She called ahead asking if they had a product, they said they did, she drove a long way, and Jen was wrong. I can understand her anger, even if it doesn't excuse her behavior. I was with her until she demanded stuff.
She's also very wrong for trying to make Jen lose her job. She can't give away stuff for free, and she did all she could. She messed up and I'm sure dealing with this lady was good enough punishment for that mistake.

Do you really think is necessary all this for some candles?. Anybody can make mistakes and I am sure Jen was following company policy when she told you to call that number. I am appalled with your attitude and the wish to try to fire somebody for doing their job. It's awful that people like you go to places trying to get things for free when something goes wrong.
