Matthew 13:13 for i speak to them in parables for hearing they do not hear. And seeing they do not see, nor do they understand. My favorite bible quote. Especially because it could be said of the bible itself.
I came to post it but glad to see someone already did, since it is the MAIN reason Jesus used illustrations/parables. Here's the quote from Mark: "So that, though looking, they may look and still not see, and though hearing, they may hear and still not get the sense of it; nor will they ever turn back and receive forgiveness."
When you Die where will you go? pray, Jesus forgive me of my sin, save me ,be my Lord & my Saviour, you have come in the flesh, died & risen for me, Jesus is my Lord ! Amen. Read John 3.
Our Creator wants an intelligent relationship with us. He is real, & far greater, bigger than we can comprehend. So we need to pay attention to His Word and learn how to be like Him.
You're not giving an explanation, you're just saying what a parable is. The question is, why did Jesus use parables instead of just explaining that deeper meaning outright? The question is not, what is a parable.
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Mar 4:11-12 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: Mat 13:13-14 ... that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Rom 11:25
I don't fully understand Mark 4:11-12, especially the last part - lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. Does that mean God doesn't want some people to be converted and have forgiveness of sins?
@@draybaba If I recall, Jesus only started teaching in parables after his message was rejected (even accused of casting out devils by Beelzebub in Mat 12). At that point, he would leave them in spiritual blindness. You see the same thing in Isaiah 6 where the door of opportunity had closed, and God sent Isaiah to make eyes blind, ears deaf, and hearts dull. And again with Pharoah, who at first repeatedly hardened his own heart, then afterward God hardened it (committed him to it).
I think that the things teached in stories are more meaningful because that way we can see, consciously or unconsciously, a more practical use for that lesson
Keep on asking, seeking and knocking and it will be opened to you... Matthew 7:7-11. Many ppl hardly try to seek and understand or even love the truth Jesus was teaching? They weed themselves out from entering God's kingdom.

To knap and understand God and His holy purpose with mankind is the same to know His words, Bible. Dostoevsky, that’s my opinion, was a true Christian who in one amazing, divine way described his Christ in his masterpieces, ”Punishment and crime”, ”Idiot”, Karamazov ect.🙏
I would assume that stories leave room for one to interpret the story based on their on understanding. Allowing for the individual to grow and learn in a manner they can understand and comprehend. Nonetheless a story does follow a general theme so as to guide the listener in a general direction as to where the point or meaning of the story lies, but how to get to the point is left up to the listener and their own interpretation of the story and it's underlying themes. That's my opinion anyway🤷🏿♂️
I think most people read the Bible as if it’s written to them and is interpreted from our modern view. I’ve tried to let the Bible tell what its hermeneutics is instead of reading it like it’s a newspaper that showed up on my door this morning and interrupt it from that lens. The Bible was written for us but it wasn’t written to us. We would understand it so much more if we read it that way. IMHO.
PaRDeS. Parshat, Ramez, Derash, Sod. I would encourage anyone interested in the nature of parables in Judeo/Christian teaching to dig deeper into the definition of PaRDeS.
Jesus taught in stories because stories are more friendly to minds not as bright, plus who doesn't like stories. Dostoyevsky isn't as user friendly, nor is Nietzsche.
I understand what is being said but unfortunately the burden of proof lays with you! You say yes, i say prove it, clearly you cant so simply your not to be trusted on this. Try again

parables, stories that convey deeper meaning, thats why.

When i think a story i think that it is the verbilistion of memories when they are forgotten by those who lived them

God wants everybody to be saved, not only the super progessors, so He makes sure that everyone is able to understand His teachings 💖🙏💖

Stories are gestalt. The sum of all its parts are greater when combined into a whole.

Parables can be more difficult for some non literary types than a list of principles
Thank u for saying this about liberal scholarship because they have a serious tendency to do that

Bible isn't a list of rules and commandments only.
Jesus kept and did. Deuteronomy 29:9.
Each Christian knows different things. So their beliefs and actions vary.

Mansplanstions.... unnecessary. The punishment for disobeying God...if that doesn't "move" you.... that in fact is the problem
Obviously you do not hear !!!!
