I'm not really excited to see it, but I do hope it surprises me and makes me glad I did.
Love you bro, but I'm not excited in the least. I've felt this way for a long time, but the first movie went in the wrong direction with too many things and I'm expecting much the same could happen even if they tinker away on the second movie. I bet some parts and characters have potential to really shine through. That being said I think it's not handled with the best care as much as I like the people working on it, if they had the best intentions and put a lot of hard work into it. I can appreciate what I think they did well in the first film even if I don't particularly like it and we all want the best version we can get, but I'd rather see it redone at this point and this version just isn't it to me. Not even close. I don't mind watching to see what they do in the sequel, but I'm not holding out hope. Many of my friends and I are diehards and very knowledge fans of the series. Even we disagree on what we want out of an MK movie universe.

As a kid, I enjoyed the first two MK movies. I still think the first MK movie is the best one. With that said, I do not like the latest MK movie and I don’t see any hope for this second one coming out. On the other hand, MK 11 and MK 1’s story mode was awesome. I enjoyed it way more than any of the actual movies. Im glad the game has the best stories but I hope down the line we can get a legit movie. Hollywood is trying too hard with MK. The story is there, the characters are there. Just give us a solid tournament. That’s it.

they didn’t treat Goro with any respect so i doubt the same would go for Shao. especially since they seem to just take the reboot versions of these characters cause that’s the versions that they are more well known to average viewers like how Goro was just presented as being a brute and not a respected warrior within the universe

Even if this is fake, I stand with the "Karl urban too old for Johnny" since the casting was announced I can't wrap my mind around who tf greenlighted that casting, does not look like Johnny in any sense, he es OLDER that actual Jhonny, heck even mk 11 Jhonny, so I really don't see him as JC, I hope it shuts my mouth in the end, but of all points that's the one I believe the most

That's how I felt about when the showed who they casted as kano, I thought he looked too skinny and soft for kano but I have to admit he did a great job despite not looking the part(in my eyes at least) so who knows🤷
So, the movie is basically, Shaolin Monks, just with Johnny and Kitana. Got it.
I knew Adeline was gonna kill it as Kitana. Would’ve been nice to see her and Sisi onscreen together as Kitana and Mileena.
I would rather Adeline play both to really give it that MK twin magic.

I have a question. Mileena was race swapped in WB's first offering... considering Mileena is Kitana's evil twin... then, will Kitana also be race swapped in this sequel? For the sake of consistency, I think they have to.
The actress for Kitana is Adeline Rudolph who is Asian. Yea don't know what they're going to do about Mileena. Considering she got killed off in the first movie, my guess is they never bring it up.
They will probably use the clone excuse or just completely ignore her
that was my main issue with mileena being race swapped as i had a strong feeling Kitana would remain how she always looks and with the casting revealed a while ago, i was correct. I also don’t understand why they got two different actresses for Kitana and Mileena as they’re identical twins/clones so it would make more sense to just cast one actress for both roles but idk that’s just me

The only way this movie or any MK movie to be good is if they get Takashi Miike to direct and go for a NC-17 rating. They can chop it to R for theaters, but make real bank on the home market with the unrated version.
if all characters getting sidelined mean that we are legit not getting the tournament in this movie? why do I get the feeling since the end of the first movie that we are getting some MK Legacy type of storylines where we are just gonna get a set of new characters, have some backstories and just snippets of the tournament sprinkled in.
They'll probably use the last movie as the tournament and include more of the newer mk11 and mk1 characters from the game.

Jade is my favorite character in the series and i’m excited to see her in the movie but the “Lots of deaths” point the commenter wrote makes me feel nervous like she is gonna be killed off while still serving as a “bad guy” which i hate the idea as even in Battle of the Realms, she’s done a disservice and we know damn well they won’t kill off Kitana

Well in the story Johnny is usually a "washed up" or "past his prime" movie star, OR a semi-famous up start who thinks he's VanDam, so if he's the former that isn't too far removed. With the success of The Boys Urban being brought on was a smart move but they can't do anything about his age, so... 🤷♂️ aged out action star isn't a stretch. It isn't like they gender-swapped him like some other mustard colored characters

Skip the lengthy story filler and ramp up the Bloodsport style fight sequences.

Nobody wanted Kotal, kollector, cetrion or geras at first. If you make Cole young a thing people will get over it quick. Just because they bring back a character doesn’t mean you’re gonna enjoy the gameplay so why even make it a big deal.
I agree, if a hardcore fan came out of a test screening happy, that’s a good sign. I gotta say, I recently rewatched MK 2021, and I actually disliked it more. Originally thought it was decent enough, but definitely found more that was bothersome. Gold still goes to the OG MK1995 by a long shot. Still hoping for the best with this MK2. I still do not understand why they don’t simply do a live action adaptation of the story modes from the video games. The work is already done for you. Use that as your base and tweak it as necessary. Or heck, even do a solid remake of MK95! They have got to listen to you and other fans if they want any semblance of success.

If they kill Cole young then that’s kinda weak. Obviously the majority hate him but keeping him in the mix even a lesser role would’ve been a bold move. I grew up on the og MK movies and loved them despite the weak points. CY is really not that bad and I feel like he just took the hate from people that felt like he took a spot that could’ve been for a OG character.

Hi Dynasty, i think he´s a little bit too old. Johnny is supposed to be a cocky young action star who enjoys his fame and loves women, a man in his early 30´s who is for the most part still inmature. Karl Urban is already in his fifties. Besides if they were to bring the combnat kids in the future, Johnny would have to be even older and i wouldnt like him to be too old when cassie is grown up.

I’m not sure exactly why they decided to make Cole a new character never heard about in any game was a really bad move. While the movie itself was definitely good mostly in my opinion was due to an incredible portrayal of sub zero I just didn’t and still don’t like Cole young. It’s not anything to do with the character but it was frustrating that with all of MK lore to focus on their choice was a character who doesn’t exist? I really did like the movie and I’m super excited to see noob saibot because Joe taslim was so good as sub zero. I’m definitely syked for the sequel and I’m thinking that comment about the characters being sidelined may be an actual reference to them spending a lot of time with the actual tournament. They really need to focus on it since it’s not even seen in the first movie

I've been pretty vocal about how bad I thought the first movie was. I just don't see how they can realistically course correct. They made some major blunders in the lore with the first film.
What I don’t want to wait until next year haha I hope it is not like this it needs to be better than the last movie. It needs more fights since I really like the 1997 movie 2 years after I was born so I’m looking forward to a good or great movie this time last year movie was okay. That’s all I am saying about that.
The violence made the games but good writing needed to make the movie. The writer cant just rely on gore for the movies. You need a proper story and proper characters that expand and are true to mk franchise like the 95 movie.
Honestly if johnny cage is the lead im cool with it cuz its better then cole, and i think the guy that plays lu kang is straight trash. People were willing to give this another chance so they can learn from there mistakes but this followa the same steps as the last and learn nothing there isnt going to be a third. The show/movie industry is going crazy for game adaptations and its been proven all you have to do is follw the source material and dont try to make it some new thing. Im getting the vide this will have somw really cool kills and the rest will be trash.

These types of screenings often are not the whole movie but a rough cut of one or two particular scenes that the studio and director want audience opinion on, hence testing
