Thanks guys. A great video which I have shared with family and friends. I start Hanoi - Bangkok, via HCMC in December. This video will give them some reassurances that I am not completely bonkers!
Ha thanks! That's great, you'll have an amazing time and it's super safe over there, just always be aware that traffic can come from any direction.. but the people are all so friendly, I can't wait to be back there. Enjoy!
So beautiful! It's absolutely stunning and wonderful! How long did it take you to get from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh and how long were your daily tours? I look forward to doing the same from the end of the year!😁
Great video, thanks for sharing, we love Vietnam, hi from NZ! Have you ridden in South Korea? We rode there in May, was great, nearly all on dedicated cycleways through the countryside 🇰🇷
I loved this video, thanks for making it! I'm going to Vietnam in May to do some cycle touring as well. Question: did you ever bring your bicycles on a train? I have done this successfully in Thailand. I've heard conflicting things: some people say you can't bring a bike on your passenger train, you have to send it on a another train a couple days in advance. Others say it depends on the train. Any experience with that? Thank you!
Hi! Thanks for watching! We didn't take our bikes on trains in Vietnam, but have also heard the same conflicting things. Some trains you have to send seperate, and some you can take.. it's always a bit confusing to try get info ahead of time for stuff like this in south east Asia, as it often depends on the person on the spot your dealing with.. we did take a bus though, that was super high class and comfortable, and allowed us to put our bikes underneath no worries.
@@weridebikesplaces Thanks for the reply and info! How does putting your bike under the bus work? Do you have to take the pedals or wheels off, etc.? Does it have to be protected with packaging materials?
@@mattdavis1941 its different for each bus. Most are big enough to put them under without taking anything apart, some will need you take the front wheel off. Haven't had to take the peddles off for the bus, or use packing boxes
Hi appreciated the video. Did you get head wind all the way or partly and which month did you do this? any special reason to do from north to south instead of other way? Thanks
Hi, thanks for watching! No I don't think we had any head winds that were too bad. We rode in May, and it was really hot, even for Vietnam.. if possible I'd recommend earlier or later in the year. We rode north to south because we'd just been riding through northern Thailand and Laos, so it's just where we were, I'm sure going the other way would be good.
@@scepticalbudha2553 oh nice. Feb will be much better temps. There's lots more accommodation and stuff in the southern half, and it was all round a bit nicer. Good luck and hope you get some tailwinds!
Hey, thanks! We did have a tent, which we've been using all around the world, and had the intention of camping. But when we were there it was just too hot, with humid nights around 30degrees. There's plenty of accommodation everywhere, with air con rooms for around $10-$15. Cheap simple accommodation is called nga nghi, so just keep an eye out for signs with that on it
@@weridebikesplaces awesome, thanks. Just noticed you got a few cycle videos, so will follow along on your adventures. We’ve only ever cycle toured in Europe before, but keen to do Asia.
@NomadLifeKiwi we started our trip in Europe and loved it, didn't make any videos while there though. Asia is a lot of fun to tour in, once you get used to the heat.. Thailand especially, good food and smiling faces everywhere
Good question! We started out in regular trainers, but have both switched to Teva sandals, which is something I never thought I'd do. We wanted to have shoes that can be worn anywhere, and found normal shoes get wet and muddy and gross very quickly. The sandals don't matter if they get wet, dry quick, and are super comfortable to ride in surprisingly. When it's been real cold, we pair them up with some waterproof socks!
Hi guys, Planing on doing that same trip with my husband for my 40th Birthday. Can I follow you on Strava ? Very interested on checking the routes you choose.
Hi! Here's a link to our komoot route. www.komoot.com/tour/1230769572?ref=wtd If we did it again we'd take a more inland route between Ninh Binh and Hue, as this wasn't the nicest section. It was a lot of fun, try learn some of the food names first because we ended up with some pretty interesting dishes 😂
Hey thanks! Yeah here's a link to our komoot route www.komoot.com/tour/1230769572?ref=aso I'd honestly probably change the route if I did it again, in between Ninh Binh and Hue, to go inland, but the rest was great
The sound of jumping from one clip to the next is unbearable, especially with wind and traffic. Thanks for the tip but if you'd watched the rough edit without music you would see that it definitely adds a lot
video của bạn rất thú vị, đã nêu bật được 1 số thứ ở việt nam, cảm ơn 2 bạn đã đến việt nam WELCOME

Awesome video... Been living in VN for a while and wanting to do this tour since i arrived.
Thank you! It was a great country to tour, definitely some tough parts, especially with the heat. Would love to come back and do the inland route too
So beautiful! It's absolutely stunning and wonderful!

I look forward to doing the same from the end of the year!😁
It took us about 6 weeks, and we rode around 60-70 km per day. And obviously took some time off along the way 🙂
Are we gonna talk about how good at Hackey Sack those guys were?
Could have done a whole video on just them! 😂 Absolute masters
Informative

Thank you! We are actually going to South Korea in September 😀 going to ride the four rivers route. First we're headed to Mongolia though!
@weridebikesplaces we did 4 Rivers, loved it, really easy riding, the bridges are unreal!! Ohhh enjoy Mongolia!

On a personal note havin watched many bike vlogs, your music adds nothing.suggest Just stick to narration and scenery, local sounds do the magic😊
