Cycling Vietnam - Bicycle Touring in Northern Vietnam EP4 🇻🇳

- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- This is episode 4 from my "A Perfect Circle Around Southeast Asia" series. I started in Bangkok Thailand in December of 2022 and cycled thru Laos. This video covers my trip in Northern Vietnam in February of 2023. I entered Vietnam at the Tay Trang border crossing and cycled to the city of Điện Biên Phủ. In this city I visit the war memorial and also a local market. I then continue cycling to the capital city of Ha Noi and relax for a few days. I continue my trip cycling south and then depart Vietnam at the the Lao Bảo border crossing and re-enter Laos. 🚴🏻♀️🤓💕🇻🇳

I was amazed by the footage you captured and the realism of street life epic mountainous and oceanic scenes there on your adventure tour in Vietnam. Quite a place. Memories of the war rang out against the backdrop of a lone cyclist riding through the country in today’s time of peace. Not easy to put those two things together in 16 minutes but you did it masterfully. The music expressed so much of what many people of my generation might feel as they try to stitch together the Vietnam of then and now. And the timeless music did a wonderful job harmonizing the past with the present.
@dolittle6781 I am happy you enjoyed it! I hope to go back to Vietnam in the future and explore the south and more of the backroads! Delicious food too! 🚴♂️
Sounds good! Look forward to watching your video. Those darn flat tires though. Gotta be technology somewhere that totally keeps that from happening.
@@dolittle6781 it turned out to be a cracked inner rim. It must have been small shards that kept breaking off and punching a hole in the tube. Problem solved! But I am going tubeless on my next trip!
I've been to Vietnam a couple of times, and I want to like it more, but the place is very fatiguing. It's caos, cacophony and mayhem non-stop, traffic everywhere. It is frankly the last place I'd wanna cycle. Kudos to you for tackling it.
I think if I had a brought a tent/sleeping bag I could have taken the opportunity to go on more remote areas.. but then again its nice to shower at the end of the day in the heat...
Great job with your video. Enjoy the ride and stay safe.
as a cyclist ... your videography is amazing . @shahzeboncycle
I sure appreciate the feedback... I will continue to improve the video quality and audio as well! 🚴♂
Well filmed
Happy to hear that it was sure enjoyable filming and exploring at the same time 😊

Good day to you!
This is a senior rider on Honda from Japan.
Enjoying camping and video uploading.
Your tour video is so great !!
Awesome!
Full supported !
Have a nice day my friend !!
Thank you so much Cub Gsan! I am looking forward to my next adventure! 🚴♀️
The world lives on the street in Vietnam so U captured it well.Hanoi is like going back to the 1980's in a time warp😊
If I had time I would have spent a month in Hanoi alone! You are so correct they live they live the lives on the streets. Amazing to watch!
Great job once again. The B&W trench scene with sound affects was fantastic. BBQ dog?? Keep rolling!
I'm happy you enjoyed it!!! 💕
Hi Jeremy .... thanks for this video. I plan to explore Vietnam soon....and want to know....is it possible to wildcamp along the way? Any restrictions?
@shephherd to my knowledge there is no problem in remote areas. I was staying in guest houses so I didn't have my tent with me. 🚴♂️
the washed-out market reminded me of Blade Runner, some great photography there, what a beautiful country.
Thanks for the compliment! I love the Blade Runner environment! 💕
The architecture is so beautiful in these sites - The bridge at the start is stunning!
And the pandemonium as the rainwater came rushing through that market! What a thing to witness!
I don't think anyone at that market expected a storm that severe! Great experience for sure!
@@JeremyEll - I feel sorry for those guys scrambling about, but it was great that you got to see it! 😅
❤
Brave cyclist
Hey! Amazing video! In which time of the year have you been there? Would you cycle North Vietnam in August? Thank you!
I was there in February 2023. It was nice and cool in the north compared to Thailand that's for sure.. I'm not familiar with the weather in August in northern Vietnam..🚴♂
13:00 You're getting flat tires. are you running presta valves, or have you drilled out your rims so you can run schrader valves and put some slime in your tubes? Or is tie slime not an option in SE Asia?
I am running presta valves. Shwalbe Marathon Tire on the front and a tire I bought in Hanoi for the back. I run max pressure which is 60psi on the back and 85 front.
Just found your channel and loving your series on SE Asia. I have always wanted to cycle there and this totally validates my desire. Great videography and history lessons too. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!
PS- when we’re you actually there for this trip?
Thanks for the feedback.. I will hopefully have the Cambodia video ready in the next month. I cross the border in a few days 😁
@@JeremyEll , I look forward to it. When were you actually there? Pretty recently?
@@dougmckinney7575 I crossed from Vietnam to Laos (as seen in the video) 3 days ago ☺️ I am now cycling south and will cross intk Cambodia from the northern border. I have my Macbook with me and do the video editing at the guesthouse at night.
@@JeremyEll , oh awesome! I was thinking you were back home and producing the videos now after the trip . Safe journeys, looks like a blast!
what's the top speed of your bicycle 🚲🚲
I've never actually tried to see how fast I can go with it.. But I'm currently touring in South America and fully loaded with Panniers my GPS says Max speed 69.6 kph.. That was achieved in the last 6 months..
@@JeremyEll thanks dear ..
How did you deal with the slopes?
Are you referring to the hill climbs?
shocked how your reaction to pigs stuffed in a cage is "those things are so cute".. I hope you're being sarcastic
Animals of all types are in confined cages in southeast Asia. I felt bad seeing dogs in cages on the back of motorcycles heading off to restaurants though. These piglets being transported didn't bother me at all. Perhaps I have gotten desensitized in my travels.
Thanks for all the effort you put into the videos, the are very well made and gives us a great insight and heaps of informations about the area.
What camera do you use? Regards fromSwitzerland. Mich
I am happy you enjoyed it Mike. I was using a Nikon Z9 woth 35, 85 and 105mm lenses. Also a DJI Pocket 2 for some stuff 😇
