There is a print out there that makes it modular that you can fill up. Better yet, there is a printable mod that will print some containers you put in between each roll of filament with the middle holder having a slot to add a digital humidity gauge. With both of those combined you get lots of moisture control.
Yup, I've seen those for so long, and not until recently that I realized... you gotta dry yo filament! lol so I printed out the holders to hold dessicant in the ams' pod areas, and the between actuator head pods and the ones on the left and right side, printed one that you can slip a hygrometer in. BEFORE I did this - it was 38-45% RH (because my original bambu pods were completely saturated and dark) after putting dessicant in all the places... 10%!!!!!!!!!! My prints are WAAAAYYYY less stringy now :)
If you type in 'Bambu Lab AMS Desiccant Tray' there should be some files on printables that fill the desiccant holes with a tray, so it doesn't fall down the hole.
I usually end up using a spool winder to put filament from cardboard or weird spools onto the Bambu spools that came with my AMS, but I'm not under any kind of time crunch for doing these things. Glad you got it sorted.
Thingiverse 3918099 and 3823334. These are pretty old though. There might be better designs out there. Also, be careful with rolling 6k spools ionto smaller spools. The weight creates enough drag/friction to melt the gears
Were the yellow and purple rolls cardboard? Bambu says to not use cardboard rolls as they may slip and maybe that was your traction issue. You can transplant that filament to the empty plastic rolls that came with your new AMS. Just tape down the filament so it doesn't unroll from the center of the roll and rip off the cardboard, then intert either half of the new roll around it. That or print out a filament transfer mechanism.
Totally want to use the electrical tape or printed spool guards on those cardboard spools. Even if they are printing correctly, it can slowly breakdown the cardboard and leave little cardboard dust in the machine which will eventually cause issues.
Can confirm that these work great. I added them last week. If you do this I'd recommend some of the orange silica as it changes to blue when it needs recharging and can be popped in the oven to 'reset' it.
Those desiccant packs that come with the spools are only to absorb the humidity sealed inside the filament spool during packaging, not for continued use.

I know that Adam Savage's Tested channel has some Bambu AMS content. Not sure how much could help you. Some did contain humidity control stuff. I think he used a portable dehumidifier and a custom cabinet. Again, not sure if this is helpful or not.
As long as your desiccant packs are still good, just leave them in the package. It's designed to absorb moisture through the package. You can also purchase re-usable packages that you just toss in the microwave. I got a huge pack of inland brand at microcenter this weekend.
I saw some really nice baskets you can print that fit in the front between the spools, has a large capacity, and the middle one you can put a hydrometer in to visually see how dry it is.

You will have less issues with the filament getting through the tubes if they are more straight into the hub. You have it positioned so it is coming out of the back of the AMS curving around it, then going forward of the printer and making a u-turn back to get in the hub. That is a lot of friction. Every curve is friction as the filament slides against the PTFE tube. Rule of thumb is as short and straight as possible without sharp angles. This will also prevent PTFE tube premature wear.
Besides straight…keep them as short as possible as well. The shorter they are the less friction they have to overcome. Nice video! (We just got our 2nd AMS for our X1C and love it…)
There are several models on Maker World that are made to fit in the desiccant slots in the back. And most of those dessicant packs that come in packages acan be recharged by heating to drive the moisture out. They also sell loose beads that have color changing indicators in them to show you when they are dry or need recharged

My day job is in commercial printing business, so I appreciate your graphic arts work as well. I stared about a year before you and should hit the 2,000 sales by this weekend. Your AI video is great. I think it would be easier using Fusion, but I understand you like Tinkerad and it's working for you. Like you I use mostly Overture and Polymaker filament in X1 and the Prusa printers. Please keep pointing your progress. I am sure you will do great.
These claim to be crush proof but they lie. I've recently had a few customers get their items and find they're completely crushed. USPS is doing me dirty recently.
@@macymakes3d Sorry to hear that. I use the 6x4x2's, so maybe I've been lucky with the triple walls that close together. I once got a package with tire tracks on it, stuffed into one of those "we're sorry" damaged mail bags. USPS can destroy anything if they set their mind to it. :)
Another excellent video. Are the holiday decorations 3D printed or are they some other materials? My friend sent me a file that encases the end of cardboard spools with plastic runners. Have you printed these and used them? "he told me: polymaker spool adapters since polymaker filament comes on cardboard spools and they don't recommend using cardboard spools in the AMS"
The holiday decorations are 3d printed. The "decorating the print shop" videos are some of my favorites to make, and I'm hoping to get back to making them soon! Especially since we're heading towards the holidays. I haven't used any spool adapters, but I plan on trying it for a video sometime. I have taped the edges with electrical tape and that worked okay, they would snag on the rollers once the rolls got close to empty, so I've just been leaving them bare. Might lessen the life of my AMS but it's just easier right now.

Or you just keep them in the bag. It's not air tight.
There is a tool you can print to make removing the ptfe tubes from the hub easier.

I printed all my desiccant holders in ASA so I can use reusable desiccant and dry them out in my filament dryer or in the X1C.

Yep I'm starting to see that. I've started taping every new cardboard roll I open now, and it's actually incredibly satisfying taping them.

If you want to you can print spool rim's for your cardboard rolls that you can just snap on I've heard that they help.

@@macymakes3d or you could use angle high pantyhose as a bag, fill theem up enough that they still fit, tie a knot and cut the excess pantyhose

Adam Savage made a poop shoot that takes the pieces directly into a garbage can. The video is on his channel.

So... I know this is an older video of yours. On maker world, there's a file for cardboard spool adaptors. They're really helpful!
I found that my dual AMS setup benefits from PTFE tubes that are just right in length. I had problems with really long tubes.
I use Ziro PLA. its been amazing and they give you a resealable bag as well. Its amazing
@10:40 the Microcenter brand (Inland) also come with resealable bags too

Yeah boxes are expensive. I get min on amazon. 50 boxes for $40.
Do you dry filaments or not bother?
Not usually. I’ll dry it if it seems to be causing issues but usually I go through rolls quick enough for it not to matter.

Maybe the bend of the tube was too excessive/causing friction (pinching) on the first go?
Yes, the tubes were too long and had too much bending. It's working much better now with shorter tubes!
