Scenic drive along the southernmost end of Maine's Route 1 starting in Kittery, Maine to Ogunquit ME just over the border from Portsmouth, NH. Although Maine is a relatively small state (Don't tell Mainers this), it holds the 4th most coastline in the United States with nearly 3500 miles of coastline and islands. At the southernmost point of the coast is Maine's first incorporated town Kittery, Maine. Between the city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and coastal beach towns like York and Ogunquit, Kittery holds a historic importance as a Naval Ship building community, famous for restoring the USS Constitution. It is not necessarily a beach town but catches many southern tourists on their way north with the Kittery Shopping Outlets and plenty of opportunities to find themselves some fresh Maine lobster.
