After we finished recording Fun Machine: The Sequel we headed straight from the studio to The Sultan Room to play the tunes in a special, unannounced show for our Brooklyn friends and a few fans. IT WAS A BLAST and we’re excited to share some of the footage from that night.

What I love about Rachael's singing is that she always does it right for the song. She doesn't overpower the music behind her. And the temptation has to be there with a voice like hers. Here she doesn't do anything spectacular or flashy, but it comes off as absolutely incredible.
And I think Bridget is a top 5 bassist of all time. As great as Rachael is on the vocals I always come back to Bridget.

This is a friggin groove. Incredible vocals, incredible arrangement, outstanding mix. I have no notes.
2-3% notes from a hopeful perfectionist:
guitar a tad too harsh, could have used some limiting on the riffs vs. muted plucks, both left a bit distant in the soundscape
choir too low in the mix as are the clockwork drums (perhaps kick only)
bass boost is so freaking great
live sound is so hard to get right

I dig it. I read comments on songs recorded decades ago and they're "there's no music like this today" and they just have no idea there is quality such as LSD. Many others, but I agree, LOVE LSD!!
@IdealDanl exactly bro. I love the old records too but I´m not blind. We are lucky that it exists lots of talent people producing awesome stuff nowadays. The majority is not on mainstream, but ok... I don´t care for mainstream, I care for good stuff.

Yes, I came here to say the same. Been loving one of the other live versions of this, but the bass was inaudible. This is much better.

Love this arrangement. The keyboards forward arrangement, along with the backup vocals and the groove makes it sound like Stax or Muscle Shoals sound. Just wonderful. Bravo. I'm sure Bonnie Raitt is appreciative too.

I like Rachel, and I prefer to appreciate performers on their own merits, but this is one long reminder of how rich, warm, and soulfully great Bonnie Raitt's voice is.

So I went back to my music and pulled out the Bonnie Raitt version and was interested to find the the lyrics were less distinguishable in the BR version. I have been a fan of both (I saw BR in concert in a high school auditorium in Anchorage, Alaska in ~1980).
I’m wondering why? Better diction by Rachael Price or advances in tech? Or? If anyone has any ideas, I’d be interested in hearing.
Recording technology has come miles in the last few decades, same reason coincidentally why movies seem to have gotten 'mumbly' as time goes on. I believe the standard amount of audio channels in the 80's was somewhere between 8-16. Today you can literally have over a hundred, and your audio drivers on your phone or mp3 or PC can do a much better job simulating all of them. For movies, because the dynamic range is so wide, that means more mumbles as those channels get combined and simulated. Music, however, is made with consumers in mind rather than Dolby Atmos movie theaters so when you get a release it tends to get more clear.
I would listen to Rachael sing IRS forms. Especially with Bridget's bass accompaniment.
