Enjoying the series, don't know if anyone has said already but that small nest to the side at the undead asylum is the nest of snuggly the crow. There are a number of items (mostly consumables) you can drop into his nest that when you reload the game will be exchanged for others but it's worth playing around with. One of my go-to's with him is if you have a weapon that reinforces with twinkling titanite, he can drop a total of 4. This can get you to a +3 weapon (all non-basic weapons cap at +5) by giving him one of each type of moss clump. You can only exchange each item once per playthrough and fair warning, you have to reload for each individual drop otherwise it will only exchange your last drop and cause you to lose the other items.

Dark Souls is the representation of the gamer experience. Most of your items are obtained by raising the dead bodies of previous gamers that finally gave up. They give up their items to you to help you progress on the journey. YOU are literally standing on the shoulders of those before you. It's amazing.

So the nest in asylum is Snuggly, a sort of hidden mechanic. If you put stuff in the nest, she gives you stuff back. You drop it in, quit, load back in... and new item.
