      Thanks a lot for your words. Sadly i still need to grow a lot in terms of knowledge and in terms of editing/testing between many other things, this because i do everything by myself.
      There is a reason why i think my channel doesn't grow as fast as others and i think it is related to how i present myself and to how i handle my words. Most people want straight facts with no intros and exactly no "chilling points". I myself love to do videos where people have fun watching them.
      But well, slowly but always. That is my moto ^_^

    Well guys, i forgot one of the possible fixes!
    You can also disable the Fast Boot, Fast Boot may make your Radeon software think that the pc crashed while it actually did a normal Boot (this is actually stupid but true).
    Also, there is one thing that can be fixed and it is some games not even starting and giving a blackscreen with the new drivers. Hope AMD gets this fixed, because if previous drivers were working, these new ones have to also.
    Hope this video help you in some way guys!

      You hit all the points in this one. But one thing I am finding is that windows changes power settings on it's own for some reason. I set it to 1usmus Ryzen Power Plan and some time later, it locks up and eventually reboots. When I login it is changed to Power Saver and I only have a few seconds to change it to balanced or higher. Otherwise it locks up and I have to restart. I have now modified the Power Saver profile to only allow a minimum of 50% cpu power vs. the 10% windows sets.
      So far for the last two hours it has not locked up during idle. Keeping my fingers crossed. Funny this only happens with my 3600X. I don't have these issues with my 3900X on the same but duplicate motherboard. The 3600X has a RX 480 8Gb for the gpu and it still crashes. My Nitro+ SE is on the 3900X. So it's not Navi per say but the 2020 drivers. Both have up to date drivers, ect. even the latest chipset drivers from 1/16/2020. These same drivers with my Vega 64, no issues more performance.
      Let's see what the weekend brings.

      Also don’t use wattman! I had frame drops, down clocking, blue screens and a few other issues. I DDU then reinstalled the drivers and in the AMD suite I didn’t accept the agreement for wattman so it wasn’t running at all. I then used msi afterburner and that fixed my issues.

    First of all thanks a lot Fabio, great video!
    But i feel that you missed important points with DDU software that i think is most relevant to most users that installed it for the first time and maybe a good idea for DDU Guide video.
    Important steps for DDU are:
    1. Lunch it in safe mode, that step is very important for gpu drivers removal because the driver isn't loading in safe mode so it won't create any errors and etc.
    2. In DDU settings, make sure that you tick the option for "Prevent Windows installing video drive" (something in that phrase). Sometimes after using ddu and boot to windows, windows will install older drivers versions only for the gpu and when installing Radeon software it can make conflicts with the video driver which lead to instability issues.

    Question for you though, after watching this video, I realized that I had never installed chipset driver so I went ahead and installed the latest one from AMD for my B450 (2.04.28.626). Prior to installing the driver, I was only using Windows' Balanced power plan(there were no AMD's power plan options) and my Cinebench R20 score was around 3400s-3500s. After installing teh driver, the score dropped to around early 3200s. I got 3200s regardless of the power plan i.e. Window's High Performance/Balanced and AMD's High Performance/Balanced.
    This seems very odd. I did look up online and do you think that this could be due to bad driver?

      The Internet can be an excellent source of relevant information, however you must also check and verify information/data from various sources before testing to see what works and what doesn't.
      The Internet is also crawling with a whole bunch of inexperienced people who don't know what they're doing and also post fake news, and a LOT of them are unnecessarily making some problems more than they are without proper troubleshooting (or lack of a genuine attempt to solve a problem).
      AMD drivers aren't perfect and they need to definitely work on the issues that exist, but I also think that a large portion of people's problems stems from not really knowing the basics as 'Ancient Gameplays' mentioned.

    Love the video man. Sadly, I had to return a Gigabyte RX 5700 XT due to crashes and black screens. I did everything you recommended in this video plus more. The only thing that worked "stable" for a while was using old drivers from November, which sucked because you can see the performance difference.
    I fixed by getting an Nvidia card, not trying to start any debates, but AMD really needs to address their driver problems. I would've loved to have kept that card.

    • @AncientGameplays
      @AncientGameplays  4 роки тому +4

      Yeah, but the performance difference was only seen in some specific games, but in fact they have broken what they once had working...

      Same here... I got an Asus Strix 5700 XT via a crazy deal from someone who didnt need it. I really love the Adrenaline UI and the level of control AMD gives users. But the driver and stability issues really took a toll on the experience. I just sold it the other day and went back to my old GTX 1080. I do see the performance loss in a few games, but the mature and very much working drivers more than make up for that. I might give AMD another try with RDNA2, but I'm gonna be cautious given AMD's recent history. I hope they get it together.

    One of the biggest mistakes people are making are HOW they are updating their AMD chipset drivers. It is actually better to uninstall your current chipset drivers, then install the new chipset drivers. There have been reports of the new PCIe driver not updating, and other issues when not uninstalling the AMD chipset driver first.
    I wish DDU supported chipset drivers. So many people make the mistake of not using DDU.

    • @dra6o0n

      Generally don't need to DDU in normal use cases, but RDNA and eventually 2.0 means you DEFINITELY need to do fresh and clean install... and disable windows update when you do this (preferably on a clean install) to install the gpu first before you let windows auto download patch everything and fiddle with them.

    EDIT: Problem solved. Possible solutions below!
    ORIGINAL TEXT:
    Okay -- I've been struggling to get this new build off the ground for the past 2-3 weeks now. I finally got the Sapphire 5700XT Nitro+ last week. After having some problems with old versions of Windows crashing on my Ryzen, I finally installed Windows Insider Edition and those stopped.
    But now, the computer goes black during driver installs. By the time I saw your video, I tried everything you mentioned with the exception of disabling PCI-E 4.0 on my ASUS x570-PRO. I'm not 100% certain I did this -- in the 1407 BIOS, there isn't any setting like that, but it does let you choose which mode (ie "gen3" or "gen4"), and I'm *assuming* I was to change it from "auto" to "gen3", but the manual was no help as it talked about an old version of the BIOS.
    So, that's where I stand now. Clean install of Windows, followed by Windows updates, followed by Armory Crate (to install the chipset, LAN and audio drivers), and finally Adrenalin which causes the screen to go black and not come back around 69%. I've tried multiple versions from one released in December (someone in a forum said it stopped when they used that one -- didn't work for me) to the beta version.
    Is there *anything* you might recommend before I contact Sapphire about this?
    Thanks in advance.
    UPDATE:
    Okay, so this is bizarre. The last thing I'd been trying was different software installs, and one video recommended the drivers that came out February of this year. I used them: No luck, so for the heck of it, I took out the 5700XT, and installed my old R9 290 -- and the system was working. Since it was working, I updated the drivers to the beta version -- still technically working with the R9 290.
    I installed some games (which included some C and .NET packages), but after the video card kept crashing, I finally removed the old one, replaced it with the 5700XT . .
    . . and PRESTO! It's working now! Perfectly! As if there was never a problem!!!
    So, I'm not CERTAIN what happened. I guess it's possible that upon rediscovering the card with the drivers installed, Windows knew what to do with the 5700XT. I can't rule out the *possibility* that some of the packages I installed with the games may have helped, but my intuition tells me that simply reintroducing the 5700XT to a system which already has the latest drivers should be enough.
    ALSO: Don't know if I mentioned it or not, but you also have to make sure your OS is up to date -- I tried installing the latest drivers on an older version of Windows, and that kept crashing like mad. So that's all my observations on this build, would be happy to answer any questions, but until then, gonna go enjoy this insanely OP gaming rig. ;)

      It doesn't, the 5700XT has issues with 144hz monitors and multiple monitor setup. I have the XFX Raw II 5700XT and the driver tells the GPU to run its VRAM at 1750 at all times causing it to run at around 56 degrees on idle which is bad. I know I'm four years too late here, but I thought I'd add something about PCIe 4.0 for historical purposes. Around the launch of Zen 2 in 2019 several motherboard manufacturers accidentally pushed out new BIOS versions for their B450 boards that enabled PCIe 4.0, when it wasn't meant to be supported on that chipset. So people like me who flashed their B450 board to install a Zen 2 CPU at the same time as getting a 5700 XT ended up with instability, because PCIe 4.0 became enabled by default after the flash.
    And as you say here, switching back to PCIe 3.0 in the BIOS fixed my problems at the time.

    Dude, you're a lifesaver, thank you so much for this video. I'm using a regular RX 5700 8GB. It's a great graphics card ( if it wasn't for all of these problems ), but all these instability issues, black screens, and display crashes are getting out of hand. I'll make sure to follow your steps and see if it works out for me. It most likely will if I don't come back and reply to my comment here.

    • @GameJames-Arkveveen

      Okay, I can't install the chipset drivers it fails to install with the "account already exists". An issue people have been having for awhile. However, the clean reinstall of the video drivers might have helped but we'll see.

    • @AncientGameplays
      @AncientGameplays  3 роки тому

      That shouldn't even happen since it is not related to any account. Did you download them from AMD website?

    • @GameJames-Arkveveen
      @GameJames-Arkveveen 3 роки тому

      @@AncientGameplays I managed to fix it, it's a common problem people were having and it's literally just a registry error. I used Microsoft's very own installer/uninstaller troubleshooter program. It worked and my chipset is now fully up to date! I did tell myself to not download optional/beta drivers because all the 20.8.3 drivers did was cause more crashes, but I might try to just do another clean uninstall using the AMD clean uninstall utility and try the optional drivers anyway. There's new ones too, 20.9.1, but I'm getting sick of zero STABLE recommended drivers for over 4 months now. My rig has 16GB of RAM, and a Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6Ghz, along with this RX 5700 8GB. I've been very pleased with it ( literally the most powerful yet affordable PC I've ever owned, and also the best build by CyberPowerPC especially compared to the last shoddy one I had ) but wouldn't you know it... it was giving me problems from the very beginning with the black screens, signal losses, and recently these strange display crashes and BSODs after driver 20.8.3. I got this PC in January of this year. I even think Radeon Software itself was causing system crashes. So I'm going to do a clean uninstall with the official utility, and then try out the 20.9.1 drivers. Pray to God that this works, I don't want my faith in AMD misplaced especially since their CPUs are so damn good.

    19.12.1 are only drivers which work with my 5700 XT, tho performance is pretty bad with them. Any other drivers some games (like MHW IB) crashes and after the first crash when you try to open any game, fps jumps constantly between 10-100+ until another crash.

    Update bios update windows update chipset. Update the wife update everything! Then start by turning off everything in the driver and if you have a 60hz monitor with 20ms response time goddamn it don’t try to get 140fps out of it. It won’t be smooth. Use Radeon chill to limit it to 55fps and it will run so much smother.

    1 Did a clean install of the latest Radeon software after cleaning with DDU in safe mode. Bios, Chipset Drivers, and Windows 10 up to date. Windows is in High Performance Mode. Can’t disable PCIe 4 as I have gen 4 NVMe M.2 drives. My GPU is running smooth as silk, but the Radeon software still will not open. All I get is an unresponsive transparent box in the middle of the screen, and have to use Task Manager to get rid of it. I guess it’s not a big issue, but I can’t adjust any settings.
