Nutribullet not Working, Won't run, Won't turn ON - FIXED

  • Nutribullet won't start, won't run. The two interior on-off switches would not work because the white plastic actuators were gummed up. The would not slide properly to activate the two on-off switches inside the appliance.

I found my wife's Nutribullet in the "to trash" box; she said it was dead. I wanted to confirm her diagnosis before we actually discarded it. I guessed it was a broken wire in a motor winding, but on a whim I googled and found your video. From your description I knew ours had the same problem, and it did. With your help I fixed it; runs better than ever now. Thank you.

Hi there! I’m a girl in my late twenties, live alone and away from home. I use nutri bullet to make smoothie every day. Now it stopped working all of a sudden when I turned it on
Mine wasn’t jammed so I almost clicked out of your video. Then I decided to disassemble because I didn’t hear a second clicky sound even though I could push down
I disassembled exactly like you said and see that the plastic part is broken just like in your video. Superglue wouldn’t hold it put. So I used a super strong nylon thread looking thing from my small bag and looped it and pulled it up and re assembled it.
Now there’s thread hanging out from the side but it works. I tried replacing the fuse and it didn’t work now I know it was the broken tab !!!!!
Idk what gave me the confidence to do what you did. But I’m so proud. Idk how long it’s going to work but I tried and I fixed !!!
Hopefully it works for another 4months that’s all I need .
I’m just hoping I put the wiring back correctly that’s all I’m worried about. Any advice?

You are a GENIUS! Received this exact NutriBullet as a gift from my daughter and when it stopped working, I was crushed. (Full disclosure: I didn't screw the cup on tightly and the liquid spilled out everywhere.) Your video was the first I found on UA-cam. I, too, had a broken piece inside but used superglue to reattach. Worked like a charm. This video has excellent visuals, runs at a steady, reasonable pace while explaining the how-.tos, and narrated with a clear calm speaking voice . I was back up and running in less than an hour. Thank you SO much.

This was a great video but I have a simpler thing to try first. I watched this video and a few others and decided to try and clean up the switches without taking it apart. Since I watched this video I could see all of the interior of the bullet the motor and such was much lower than the point where the switches were. So, I put less than an inch of extremely hot tap water and a drop of dawn dish soap into a large pan and then turned the bullet upside down emerging the switches into the water, and let it soak for about 15 minutes. I removed it from the water and placed it face down on a kitchen towel for 30 minutes to let any excess water drain out. Then I used a small bottle brush and knife to depress the switches and clean the areas out. Worked like a charm. I couldn't see the dirt before cleaning but could see it after I removed it from the water. Was a quick and easy fix.
UPDATE: If your container is missing one of the tabs that depresses the switches it will not work. I just found this out and when I used another one that had all 3 tabs it worked.

Thank you! I just released the 3 white switches by scraping the gunk off. I am not going to take it apart. It allowed me to make the smoothie I desperately needed before the base started smoking, but that was fine! I’ve had this thing for several years. I’ll order a new one, but thanks to you I got one last smoothie out of it.

Only one of the switches wouldn’t deploy. Followed along with the video and dismantled it all. Housing was slightly different with more parts. The activator switch was just really sticky. Cleaned and reassembled. Works like new. Liked and subscribed. Go mile maith agat a chara.

Thanks YuDaMan - You da man! Your fix has got my Nutribullet running again! It's guys like you who, through your videos, save us money, give us the satisfaction of restoring functionality to otherwise broken appliances, and make the landfills smaller.
BTW, I also had a broken standoff like you did. I saw that the threads stopped around the break, so used a slightly longer wood screw to extend the threads into the stub. Works well so far.

OMG, I can’t believe that I was able to do this and now my bullet works again! The only mis-step that I did was not take the all important picture of the wiring before I removed that white tab that held the wiring down. However, I was able to finagle it back. My husband was surprised that I was able to fix it all by myself. 😊. THANK YOU!!

At 3:45sec. in you talk of a 'stand off' switch being broken. That is what happened on my nutribullet. I did not "super glue" it as you mentioned, what I did was find a screw that was slightly longer with a pointed end and similar threads and I carefully screwed that into the same place. It went in snug&tight. It is strong and holding its place. The nutribullet is fixed! I was so frustrated that I couldn't get it to work after taking it apart and then back together. The 2nd x, I checked what you had mentioned and that was the actual problem! not the dirt or sticky stuff. This unit was pretty clean, it was the broken 'stand off' switch. But I needed that info to know to check that, then fix it. So Thanx

I learned from your video that 2 of the little white notches needed to click when depressed .One of the 3 notches on the cup had broken off so I figured which of the 3 notches need to move and positioned the cup so that the remaining 2 notches on the cup fit into the necessary slots. I always keep a can of electronics contact cleaner in the garage and if it gets stuck? I tip the nutribullet upside down and flush each switch. 3 microswitches which if you flush clean. Perfect. Easier. Please if you use warm water and soap. Soap oxidizes the switch over time. Use soda bicarbonate to neutralize the soap. Electronics contact cleaner is under 10 AUD.

@@altaafulton921 If everyone had that logic, we would be stuck in the stone age. No one is born knowing how to do this stuff, you learn, you practice and suddenly you can take simple appliances apart with a screw driver and back together again, easier than putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Then when you mastered that, on to more grown up projects. It pays to know things. I'd hate to be the one paying $500 for an air conditioning unit capacitor that costs $5, to a "pro" who simply knows how to use a screw driver, but to each their own, I guess.

Going to buy the tools I need to fix it.

Thanks .... this worked for me. I couldn't tell if the standoff was broken but what I noticed immediately was that the activator switch housing was not flush against its base so I took a risk and with a easy twist of the screw, I was able to get the activator switch housing to seat properly to where when I pushed on the switch, there wasn't any movement .. meaning that the housing did not pull away from there base. How long it will operate like this is anyone's guess, but I am fairly inventive and will figure out a way to re-attach the housing. It's a shame that we can't get parts for this because I threw one away about 2 years ago and never investigated what the problem was and it was probably this very thing. Irritating, because it seems this design is doomed to fail and most people will toss it out and just buy another one :-(

Mine is not running and I just bought it a month ago. I have been using it almost everyday for smoothies only. I am very upset because I should not be having any problems with it so soon after purchasing it.

Thanks for this! I had the same problem where I had a broken standoff on one of the switches. I ended up replacing the machine screw with a wood screw of the same gauge but longer so that it had enough length to screw into the plastic still left that the standoff broke off from. The only screw I had was too long though, so I used a stack of tiny steel washers I had on hand to decrease the penetration of the screw. I also used one washer to replace where the standoff had been so that the switch could remain at the same level it had previously been and not get sucked down at an angle when I tightened the screw. Thanks again for showing me how to do this.

This what I did. Used a tiny washer in place of the broken standoff and the used a longer screw. On my machine one if the bottom screws was an exact fit and length and then just found a screw at the bottom if my messy toolbox for the bottom part. Works as new and wife and daughter will be happy. I was checking new models and prices until I stumbled onto this video. Thank you.

Awesome man worked perfect for my wife's unit. The only thing was hers must of been a different model as there was a logic board and some cabling to remove so a bit trickier to dissemble

Could be my problem but sadly I could never undertake a project like this myself. I am not mechanically inclined and this requires essentially taking most of the unit apart and then knowing how to put it back together after the cleaning. Awesome video for those with fix-it mechanical minds but not for me.

Well that’s gonna be more work than I was thinking about today, but I am going to do this. Because it’s not working right and I might as well give it a shot. It’s either that or the trash bin right off the bat. At least if I can’t get it to work, I can take it apart for a recycling purposes. Thank you.

Thank you brother. You really helped me on this one. I liked and subscribed . I did However just pushed down hard on the white switch after I turned it over and down a little over the sink and added a few drops of rubbing alcohol on the white switch to get it to move . Thanks you so much . Lord bless you.

Thanks. My standoff was broken. I taped corresponding switch to the on position, and plug in the unit when I need to use it. I suspect the other switch will break sooner or later and will have to do the same to that switch.

I just bought this thing. There's no way I'm doing all of this. Sending it back to the manufacturer. So glad I spent the money on a Vitamix. I shouldn't have to use the huge Vitamix as backup. Not happy
