The imagery of nature reclaiming a place torn apart by cruelty and war will forever be my favourite trope. Flowers blooming out of a gun's barrel, a tank used as shelter for animals during heavy rain, this soldier's body feeding and protecting a few little lives, if only for a little while. If this solider who "served and protected" was worth their salt, they would have been honoured to help push for life to blossom after the bloodshed has ended.

@@jestrel as a novice fiction writer, one thing that I love to mix in a story is fantasy mixed with the post-apocalypse genre. This has got to be one of the single most coolest shorts I've seen come out of CalArts so far! Absolutely incredible story told with beautiful visuals and not a single line of dialogue, this is genius you should be super proud!
Fear of death is something I struggle with and dwell on far too often. It's pieces like this that remind me how beautiful life is and likely will be for a very, very long time after I'm gone, and I find a lot of solace in knowing that the universe will carry on
I think what is truly beautiful about this is that everyone can find their own meaning in it. For me, it’s that nature reclaims everything with time, and that change and time are inevitable.
The only unrealistic things here are that his eyes lasted as long as they did, he didn't get swarmed by insects and the camera kept functioning properly all those years. Awesome video, beautiful animation.
I 100% agree with the impossibility of the eyes lasting as long as shown in the animation. As for the camera, it's possible that these humans made some magically advanced technology that can make cameras last generations (I mean, the soldiers kind of look a bit futuristic). But it can also be just regular movie logic or something.
This is really amazing! I love the story and message it tells a lot too. Something random I also found interesting is how even after the war and their death, that soldier still served a purpose; a cat found comfort and safety from the corpse, Hiyenas found a meal from the corpse, a squirrel was able to store their food in corpse, and multiple birds were able to make a nest out of it. I hope that when I die, my body can return to nature and be repurposed like this.

Meaningful beauty on the simplest scale. This is genuinely one of the best animated shorts I’ve seen in a while. It just makes you feel refreshed. Hydrated.
It was a beautiful piece of work. It was a metaphor for the modern human, and the camera itself was a metaphor for something that is always alive and observing. The camera symbolized time, a direct encounter of humans with nature, which is always vibrant and alive.
It really put me in tears.. How the world goes on and this one person who is replication of all the soldiers who died in a war serving a country, Believe, opinion, Politics and everything that proves to be meaningless once he died and only one question arise - Why we even fight ?

Death, killing, and violence is part of Nature and everything else under the Sun.
But exploiting nature makes profit 🤑
The music goes so well with it, the sound effects are accurate and soo cute with the way you animate these animals so accurately!
The Soldier died on a battlefield, he was not buried respectfully, but nature took care of it slowly. Nature tries to heal the lost ones. I think this is the perfect homage and tribute to a fallen soldier. ❤ I cried i know how it feels

The sound design and composition of this is perfect! What an incredibly satisfying and engaging work of art
I think it’s truly beautiful how much was portrayed in just one angle without dialogue. In filmmaking, the greatest pieces of art are able to portray a story without using dialogue or context, and that was portrayed beautifully in here. The way you are able to give so many different ideas for different people is amazing
I would love to learn about the lore behind the war this soldier was in, and what happened to humanity after.
Judging by the futuristic aesthetic, it was set in the future and by the way the soldier was dressed, i think it was a war for resources
Humanity survived as proved by the kid at the end, but parts of humanity or even all of it regressed technologically, that’s what I get from it
Some sort of nuclear exchange most likely, judging by the destruction, the fact no relief or clean up units came, and no one collected the bodies. The conflict was bad enough to send humans back to the stone age, but not destroy the planet outright.

Resilience
At first, the soldier's strength did shine so bright,
Resilience, in the heat of battle's fight.
But as time passed, a deeper truth unfurled,
The world itself, in strife, found strength to twirl.
Life after conflict, scars and wounds so deep,
Yet from the ashes, new promises would creep.
The earth, it heals, as seasons gently turn,
In every heart, a chance for love to burn.
A symphony of life, both wild and serene,
In nature's grace, the world itself a dream.
The soldier's tale, a part of this grand scheme,
In resilience, the universe does gleam.
So let us see, in every step we take,
The beauty of a world that won't forsake.
For in resilience, we all find our way,
In every dawn, a brighter, hopeful day.

Fear of death is something I struggle with and dwell on far too often. It's pieces like this that remind me how beautiful life is and likely will be for a very, very long time after I'm gone, and I find a lot of solace in knowing that the universe will carry on

The metal leached off onto bones from his armor making his bones taste bad and poisonous

Это шедевр, особенно актуален в теперешнем неспокойном мире. Меня очень затронуло❤
Этот мир всегда был таким.
