Not the worse but worth mentioning. A guest keeps you at the door a long time when they are saying good bye so that you are leaving your other guest for longer than you should. The guest leaving should thank you for the invite and leave.
Women and men should act the same way. The term ladylike separates the genders. We're trying to get rid of the gender divide not increase it to the way it was in the 18th century it's the term ladylike that pisses people off because you shouldn't be trying to be different to be considered ladylike your already female which classifies you as a lady just be yourself
xXLOZZYXx if we want to be ladylike, we will be ladylike. I hope you know the definition of ladylike. There's a difference b/w lady and ladylike and a lot of us ladies want to be ladylike. A real lady should never swear but because swearing is so mainstream it ought to be mentioned even to ordinary girls that it is disrespectful, rude, undignified, idiotic, and selfish to swear infrought of children, a mother with a baby, in a church, in a classroom, in the company of a person who has expressed wishes not to hear such words, or to a person of significance. A girl who curses every other word is not a lady or a princess though her fancies may attempt to believe otherwise. In the Philippines, most often our guest brings nothing and they went home with something on their hands either fruits and vegetables, excess food, things, and money. How good was that to be?
Some people give their guests things to leave with, I suppose its only the kinder ones. This is based on more western manners so Im not sure who did what but the famous make the books so famous people might not give others things to leave with. In my family everyone gets cookies or some form of traditional Irish or Italian food and sometimes even old books and family made things like blankets.
i have ever invited people for my birthday party.i had even cooked for them.what pains me is that they came empty handed.they ate all my food and drinks and no one could even think of bringing me a birthday gift. its from there i noticed i had been having all the wrong friends all that time. i don't think i am going to hold such a party soon,in my house.did i mention they even left without helping with the dishes or something of the sort
In Msia (at least, I don’t know about other countries), rule #3 about not saying goodbye to the other guests differs for us. It is considered rude to depart without saying goodbye to everyone, even to those who aren’t in the same room. We have to say goodbye to everyone unless they’re too busy to acknowledge your goodbye e.g. they’re in the washroom 😬
I also heard, if you get a ride with a friend or someone you know, you never sit at the back, that gives the impression that he or she is your chauffer, which is not cool. You sit as "co-pilot". Well, if there is nobody else, that is
Alison Jones yes they do lol I know a girl a year older than me who used to spit on the floor INSIDE buildings and burp and lift her skirt up in public just because
lilosweet24 I do not expect that from my guests, and myself do not do it. Why do we buy all those beautiful shoes? To change into somebody’s slippers outside? Shoes are part of an outfit and should be left on. If you invite people over, vacuum again when they leave.. or do not invite.
Grace Madejski you made a really good point , but I think this is for casual meetings , people not always come with clean shoes and its more helthier take it off inside .
Truthfully, I don't really like the words, "gender equality." In relationships, I don't want to be equal to the man. I deserve to be treated like a lady and be taken care of. I'm a GIRL, not a dude.
I see what you mean, it’s. It’s not about being treated like a guy though. I’m very feminine and am very much the lady in my relationship but we’re still equal. If you see what I mean?
I do not agree with putting lipstick on at the table, no matter who is at your table. It is not "lady like" to put lipstick on in public. It should be done in the privacy of the batbroom. -April T
wrong. Queen Elizabeth is ine of the most sophisticated lady in the world abd she re applied her lipstick in oublic all the time abd she even said it's ok.
Yes! And why would anyone put on lipstick during any part of a meal at all? There is no need for it to be applied before nor at the start of the meal, (this could send the wrong message about the chef's food! Would you really prefer the taste of your lipstick in your lunch or supper, and would you like to get it on your teeth?) And there is no need for lipstick application AT THE TABLE immediatelt *after* the meal, either, because you should retreat to the drawing room (via the lavatories to freshen up) immediately after the last course is served anyway. You should reapply lipstick in the cloak room or water closet. Never at the dining table.
NinazHome Totally. Of course you should mention that you’re leaving early because of whatever...but one certainly doesn’t just sneak out without saying goodbye to people.
YOu run the risk of causing a mass exodus from the host's party, which is a valid point, as the host should be a priority over other guests when at their function. The host invited you. Pay them the honour of not disturbing their function.
If it's a function going on at a friend's house and you know everybody been going to say hey got to cut out early and you say goodbye to everyone to not offend your friends if it's people that you don't know you know it's like a mixed function then I think it would be okay in America to pull the hostess aside and tell her that you're headed out cuz other people don't know you they don't care if you're there or not there if you say goodbye to the group be sure you say that you are cutting out early so that the hostess doesn't end up with a complete Exodus of her event. I think if there's just a handful of people this is okay if it's a large group I think it makes you look like you want to be in the Limelight or center of attention if you announce your departure. If you have me contact with someone or connected to someone or someone that you've talked with the party that you have agree to get back later with about something then go to that person also and let them know that you're cutting out early but you will remember to do whatever it is that your guys have agreed to do.Does this make sense?
I agree, after speaking with your host[ess] you should say goodbye to everyone and apologize for having to leave early: that way you say a polite goodbye but don't make others feel pressured to leave as well.
The points with the serviettes, at least in western Europe, are wrong. You place the serviette on your lap as soon as you sit down however at formal event you wait till you‘re asked to sit down. When you stand up you ALWAYS place the serviette to the left of your plate, or if there is one, to the left of your bread plate.
Always wait for everyone to be served before you start eating, never offer your glass to be refilled the wine waiter dnt like moving targets! Never speak with your mouth full, never scoop up peas if you have potatoes on your plate push the peas into them it acts as a glue! Never run the knife across your tongue or do a sword swallowing act. Always pat your mouth with the napkin don’t use it like a face cloth. Always place your napkin in half on your lap then if you need to clean your lips you just use the folded side. Good luck 👏👌
I was taught all of these rules and a lot more when I was young. My mother wanted 'royal' behavior to act like a lady. So there is still some desire to have these manners and etiquette prevail. I think it is an excellent idea for every young man and woman to learn etiquette and manners so they can be treated with respect and be respectful themselves. Regardless of the gender of the person.
If we want men to behave like a gentlemen, we should behvae like ladies. Both of us should be polite respectful and try not to make others uncomfortable.
While I agree with some of these, a lot of them feel outdated/unnecessary. Emily Post once said that the point of etiquette is to make people feel comfortable in your presence. Etiquette is about being considerate, it's NOT about the "correct" way to hold your coffee cup.
Emily Lynn I disagree, sorry. Etiquette and hospitality are not mutually exclusive. Your post from Emily Post refers to gracious hospitality. Etiquette is about rules.
Married men not wearing their wedding rings and hitting on single women is a huge pet peeve. Children running around in restaurants and jumping on seats. Bringing young children or babies in movie theaters so they act up and scream/cry. Men burping at the table in public loudly. People talking too loud or being obnoxious at restaurants. It's not like we can get up and move our plate..women fighting in public places throwing drinks.
One thing I have noticed many couples doing is farting! Or using the toilet while holding a conversation with a partner. Both are disgusting and impolite.
For Ladies gentlemen Eating on the streets perhaps while walking 😒 People who throw litter on the ground or out of their cars Spitting on the ground Slurping while you drink Chewing too loudly Eating with your mouth open or speaking with your full. Think I'm done now lol
Those hosting a public event should always know where the restroom is in case anyone asks. Guests should not lose themselves looking for the restroom. Hosts should inquire in advance if anyone has allergies and then coordinate with caterers, etc. to ensure that there are no allergy-related mishaps.
There is nothing more unlady like or off putting than a woman who sits with her legs open. Sorry, but it's not appropriate if you're out in public and especially at work. I cross my legs automatically every time I sit down so maybe you could make it a habit? Shouldn't be uncomfortable. Would obviously be uncomfortable if you were a man but some men even do it (I can't stand this though)
Amy Alexander i dont see any problem with a woman sitting with her legs open unless shes wearing a skirt. Its no less inappropriate than a man sitting with his legs open. Just let people live their life and you live yours.
Don't text, talk on the phone or even pick up your phone during a meal. It's rude. If you have been waiting for an important call, excuse yourself from the table and leave somewhere where no one will hear you. Let the rest of the people at the table enjoy their meal and conversation.
Some other ones could be: sit straight at a table (this is for health as well as good dinner etiquette); when you shake someone's hand upon greeting, use a firm grip and look them in the eyes (to show that they have your full attention, also by firm grip I don't mean squeezing); when you enter a home, take your shoes off, especially if they have carpeted floors, (this lessens the cleaning for your host later) unless otherwise specified, of course this may vary upon culture, and friends vs strangers
A hostess rule I know is to have a set place for hostess gifts so that you don’t have to leave your guests to store them as well as keep vases on hand for flowers for the same reason.
1) Always use proper set of spoon to have meal. 2) At public place or wherever, always pull up chair for the lady first. 3) Small stutt like holding the door for others counts as decent act. 3)
Most of these are common sense about how not to behave as though you were raised by monkeys, actually. One thing, though - crossed legs are never good etiquette! They're also not pleasing to look at.
I hate it when people yell at each other from different rooms. Ugghhhhhhh.... SO. RUDE. How to instantly spot an immature male that is NOT dating material... he does this. He wants a mommy, not a girlfriend.
People can do how they want to it's up to the person everybody has there own mind so please don't give all these details out as people are or have done Thier own things Thier way for years leave them them allown

Never be on your phone when eating with others. So many people do that today and that is so rude. Even if you have nothing to say you should not be on your phone.
That's the problem, feminists are trying to be like men. Feminists always thought that being like men meant being total slobs and scratching their fannies. Stop trying. Being feminine is ULTIMATE POWER. Your man is your tool through which you do your work. Men are ultimately weaker.

Probably appropriate to do in your culture though, right? I think that's cool to make sure people leave with fruit or a gift. :)
@@cassiemillennial388 you need new friends!
I was raised with all of these I never knew it made me a lady hahaha whatever 😁❤
Lucky!
I hope my daughter says the same thing :-)
Thanks for that refresher! It's always nice to be around considerate people. However good behavior isn't just for ladies.
Pam Fridell Yes!! So true
Yeah.Ive seen alot og guys who are Pigs!
26. Don't take a full minute from a 7 minute video to get to the first tip.
I also heard, if you get a ride with a friend or someone you know, you never sit at the back, that gives the impression that he or she is your chauffer, which is not cool.
You sit as "co-pilot".
Well, if there is nobody else, that is
Do people really need to be told these things? We live in scary times! Rise of the Walmart Zombies.
Alison Jones yes they do lol I know a girl a year older than me who used to spit on the floor INSIDE buildings and burp and lift her skirt up in public just because
Alison Jones hahahahahaha
This is for women who want to be ladies
I was raised in a single parent home by my dad who worked full time.
I appreciate this Big-time
M sa .
You left one more which applies to men too: do not replace “pardon?” or “come again?” with “huh?” or “HAH?”
Such a peeve.
Yes! But-depending on the tone with which it is said of course- I sometimes find “excuse me?” a tad confrontational. But it’s far better than “HAH?”
Blazing Kugelblitz I say “sorry?” too! 😂
Say What!
You forgot to take your shoes off when you enter somebody's home, unless they tell you not to .
lilosweet24 that is a very culture specific rule that would be considered rude and uneducated in other countries
In Hawaii that's a given, all of your guest are required to take their shoes off.
Never have I ever agreed wholeheartedly to a YT comment as this.
lilosweet24 I do not expect that from my guests, and myself do not do it.
Don't put ur feet up in a visitors car! HELLO!!!!!
Especialky bare feet.Ewwwwwww.
Truthfully, I don't really like the words, "gender equality." In relationships, I don't want to be equal to the man. I deserve to be treated like a lady and be taken care of. I'm a GIRL, not a dude.
Kitty Cat Sweetheart it's not about being treated as a man. It's being treated with the same amount of respect that would be given to a man
Exactly
Kitty Cat Sweetheart agree 100%
I see what you mean, it’s. It’s not about being treated like a guy though. I’m very feminine and am very much the lady in my relationship but we’re still equal. If you see what I mean?
Kitty Cat Sweetheart THANK YOU. Finally somebody normal.
The soup spoon goes on the scarcer underneath your bowl not on the table cloth nor the bowl
how is this only for women.. i think it goes both ways
Im asian mum who lives in western country. Its good to know clearly so I can educate my children properly. Thank you!
I do not agree with putting lipstick on at the table, no matter who is at your table. It is not "lady like" to put lipstick on in public. It should be done in the privacy of the batbroom.
-April T
matt snead True
Never at the dining table.
stvh B She didn't say "in public"; she said at the dinner table.
masakasama well put! Thank you

Why do I feel more comfortable around people that have like zero etiquette skills?
Maybe you are not feeling judged if unconsciously lacking some etiquette skills because you would suggest they neither are aware of it.
@@jaira_7193 well as they say, ignorance is bliss 😂😂😂
I always prefer comfort , i am here just for knowledge ❤ . sometime this may work for you .learn, learn, learn everything
You seem like a very sweet and kind person! I bet you're a delight to be around! ❤
I dont get why we shouldn't say goodbye to other guests if we leave early! isn't this rude to just leave?
NinazHome
Totally. Of course you should mention that you’re leaving early because of whatever...but one certainly doesn’t just sneak out without saying goodbye to people.
Is Serbia is extremely rude if you don't say goodbye ... some of this don't apply in all parts of the world
YOu run the risk of causing a mass exodus from the host's party, which is a valid point, as the host should be a priority over other guests when at their function.
After you receive an invitation, always rsvp promptly. After receiving a gift, always hand write a thank you note
These manners should be part of the school curriculum
Do not put too much perfume.
You are a gorgeous kitty.
No elbows on the table...ever.
Taryn S how about no you little butch
Taryn S,
Agreed. Another etiquette rule for the table is to never chew with you mouth open.
Shmu10 Oh, definitely. That should NEVER be broken. Or for that fact, speak with your mouth full.
You can put elbows on a table when the meal is over, after or between courses when there is no food on the table.
Which confuses me. Why do we do business deals over dinner then?
If we want men to behave like a gentlemen, we should behvae like ladies. Both of us should be polite respectful and try not to make others uncomfortable.
When someone says ‘thank you’ say ‘your welcome’. It’s common courtesy. I’ve had so many respond with ‘uh huh’ at my job. It’s insincere and rude.
BINGO!
And by the way, these are rules that make everybody comfortable. I hope I conform to the things that make other people comfortable.
I m glad that my mum thought me all these etiquettes from my childhood only..❤️❤️ And so I m greeted greatly and appreciated for them always..😊
Make one for gentlemen .
I came here to comment this
For gentleman tips the channel Gentleman Gazette is really helpful. I watch his videos it's good. Or Teaching Men's Style.
Than You.
When your finished with you napkin neatly fold before placing it on the table
One thing I have noticed many couples doing is farting! Or using the toilet while holding a conversation with a partner. Both are disgusting and impolite.
Anna Fresa if its just the couple involved an no one else around I dont see how thats impolite or rude lol
It's because you should respect each other. Would you pass gas in front of your parents or them to you?
Ewwwwwwww.
I think that's nobody's business except the couple in question.
On the topic of eating: My parents always told us it is rude to chew with your mouth open.
It is also offensive to be making loud sounds whilst chewing
I think being a lady is very important

How about being agentlemsn?
Me too.
OMG! Really? Why isn't this common knowledge? Parent don't teach their kids this?
No arms on the table
We are missing ANY etiquett so bad these days :(
Ohhhh I,m not a lady! I,m just a working woman with projects, temper, weaknesses, a job and sometimes I even have bad maners...I,m so sad buaaaaaaa
For Ladies gentlemen
Eating on the streets perhaps while walking 😒
People who throw litter on the ground or out of their cars
Spitting on the ground
Slurping while you drink
Chewing too loudly
Eating with your mouth open or speaking with your full.
Think I'm done now lol
Oh chewing too loudly... do talk about it!!!
I've learnt alot from this video. There are rules that I dint know before thanks alot.
Those hosting a public event should always know where the restroom is in case anyone asks. Guests should not lose themselves looking for the restroom. Hosts should inquire in advance if anyone has allergies and then coordinate with caterers, etc. to ensure that there are no allergy-related mishaps.
Or, just serve everybody Peanuts.
I'm literally only watching this because I'm writing a story that needs to have a ladylike girl
i cannot close my legs, it’s so uncomfortable. lemme get all the other females tht can’t close their legs 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
How is closing your legs uncomfortable?! O.o
I close mine all the time. I feel uncomfortable not doing it @_@
There is nothing more unlady like or off putting than a woman who sits with her legs open.
Why not? I need an explanation.
I am a man. Can i become a lady if i follow these rules?
Jerome ...
Maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yes you can become a lady
yes
😂😂😂
Jerome haha 😂 only if you insist 😬
can you please make a video on High School etiquette ? thankyou ~
Don't text, talk on the phone or even pick up your phone during a meal. It's rude. If you have been waiting for an important call, excuse yourself from the table and leave somewhere where no one will hear you. Let the rest of the people at the table enjoy their meal and conversation.
yeah, I watched this out of curiosity. I don't fit the lady-like profile at all. I'm in my 50's and I'm still a tomboy.
A Tomboys one thing.so am I, but I still have manners.
I love sitting in either the Duchess Slant or the Cambridge Cross.
Be punctual or even a little bit early. Always. Respecting another person's time leaves a positive, lasting impression!
Please make a video for husband and wife etiquettes and rules of life. Including sitting in a car with family
Hold a cup plike you're holding a cup...
The 511 people who dislike this video don’t have no manner.😒
... and probably need it the most.
Crossing body language in general is closed off and makes one appear unsociable (e.g. crossing arms and crossing legs).
Half way into this video I lost interest, grabbed my hairbrush 🎤 and started to sing Pretty woman 🌹🎵🎶

Never be on your phone when eating with others. So many people do that today and that is so rude. Even if you have nothing to say you should not be on your phone.
Empowering women to be feminists but still classy...I love it!
That's the problem, feminists are trying to be like men. Feminists always thought that being like men meant being total slobs and scratching their fannies. Stop trying. Being feminine is ULTIMATE POWER. Your man is your tool through which you do your work. Men are ultimately weaker.
Ummm....That's so not what this video is about. It has nothing to do with feminism......yeah uh....no way....NO WAY😞😞😞😞😞😞😞
