Hi Mark thanks for the upload really enjoyed this!! I work for a firm in North Somerset who use a taxi app to give drivers their jobs at a cost of roughly £150 a week for this privilege 🤔. They have brought in a system where if you refuse work over a certain amount of times you are logged out for a period of time and the more you refuse the longer the penalty. I think it’s absolutely disgusting and disgraceful that you as a self employed driver who actually doesn’t work for anyone gets a penalty. (From the boss 🤷) The Taxi bylaws clearly state that a driver can refuse any job unless instructed by a police constable!! Obviously you wouldn’t refuse blind, learning difficultes etc because you’d be a c u next Tuesday if you did!!! But being punished for not doing the guy with piss stains on his trousers smelling of shit or the dodgy drug run or the local crack head seems unfair and under the bylaws is illegal. I wrote to the council but they don’t want to get involved 🤦 ✌️❤️
Love it how you sometimes have to repeat the name of the place the customer wants to go, to confirm it, and then you know exactly where to go. Brilliant.
As a cyclist myself, mikey is a twat. But the corner at regents park is where i nearly hit a car taking a "short cut". Ive no problem with a driver checking their mobiles in traffic. Lets not point out how many drivers i see checking their phone while driving 🤫
Hi Mark, Glasgow cabbie here. Really enjoy your videos and appreciate the effort it takes putting them together. This one especially so as I’ve spent a lot of time in Fulham and knew some of the runs 😂
9:53 It's like our drivers cancelling a job without explaining to our dispatchers, as our company does have a comms system, but doen't have "For Hire" signs. You also cannot refuse Urgent Specimen, Blood Samples, Dialysis, Guide Dogs and Account jobs at all, but the penalty is a blanket 2-hour ban, meaning your tablet and meter (within the tablet) is blocked for 2 hours. All that said, however a 24-hour penalty is harsh.
Interesting! Is it 1 refusal the 2 hour ban? Also good that specific job categories ie Blood samples have a protected status. Obviously are apps don’t have that. Thanks again for watching, I think you’re my furthest global subscriber!
@@MarkstaxidiariesYes, but once the penalties are handed down by the system itself, it is difficult to remove. I obviously have no authority to deal with driver queries. Only plausible bypass I heard is if the samples were not ready to be picked up, but the booking was actually made and dispatched to you. The only other exception: You are a School Run driver. That takes priority over dialysis jobs awaiting return taxis due to far quicker turnaround time.
Hey Mark...I also live close to Ealing Broadway. At least I learned from your video where to get my car washed! Never occurred to me to go west through Acton. Have often been disappointed with closed machines at the bottom of the South Ealing Road and the one between Hanwell & Southall on the Uxbridge Road. Many thanks.
Don’t know if anyone else has said but loosing the hire light in those car washes wasn’t an urban myth on the fairways it happened to me and a friend also
Really! I’m guessing maybe the auto wash tech wasn’t up to it then. You’re the first driver I I know that it’s actually happened to. Thanks for watching,
I can't believe how cheap a Premium car wash is in London. Here, in Sweden, a Premium car wash is about 30 GBP and they starts around 10 GBP for the cheapest ones.
Wake up freenow! You block a driver for 24 hours at any one time of the day annd you have probably a quarter of your work force not unable to use app. That really helps cover the work when it's busy. Where is yor business common sense? What do i know I'm just a london taxi driver.
Why not just delete the app. What makes you think you can't survive without the apps? Come on, get your thinking 🧢 on, I mean you did do the knowledge.
I think the apps are handy for the drive in to work and back, I must admit I worked 6 days a week during Covid and Freenow was good to me. But I’m fully aware things have changed now. Anyway thanks for watching
1:55 is that a UK thing to stay inside the car during those automatic car wash? I was always told to not stay in the car during automatic car wash as it can be dangerous in case of some glass broke and cause mess and flooding inside the car

Hi Mark, It’s interesting to me when you say not much chance of a job on the street in Wimbledon, now Wimbledon is an affluent area, so why are people not likely to hail a cab? Perhaps it’s became they go out not expecting to see many cabs, and so have made other arrangements in their mind. When I’m in such areas, that I’m not really familiar with, the temptation to grab a cab is greater than in central London where public transport is so good.
As Cabolonero says, people just don’t expect black cabs to be available on the street there, so they will just order a ride off an app. Having said that very occasionally you can get lucky in the suburbs and get another ride off the street but it’s unlikely. I just just head back to where the work is. 🚕
In Auckland's case? People on Lime scooters cutting through. As they are for hire, there's no guarantee that the helmet is included. You must have bike helmets when riding, even if it's just a practice just outside your backyard.

If TFL give a stop notice how long is the stop for
Usually until the problem has been fixed after inspection.

Nobody’s walking out of a side street to a main road in the hope a cab will pass so they order on an app to their door.
