I think Mr Clarkson has a lot to answer for when it comes to the reputation of the F1 box. He jumped straight into the 575 and decided it was awful within a mile, a bit like deciding a new pair of shoes doesn't fit when you haven't worn them in - I owned one for eight years and put 40,000 miles on it and I have to say the F1 was a dream - both around town and pushing on on the continent. The Fiorano pack is a must in my opinion; £16,000 of extras for no extra outlay in the used marketplace.
1:41 At this stage Ian mentioned that that is this is a really good touring car. For me the 550/575 paint the picture of the quintessential Gran Turismo. Big long bonnet comfortable cabin big boot. The 812s and F12s and even the 599 and everything that followed just don’t paint the same picture. Whilst doing the same and probably even better job. This generation of Ferrari just paints the picture of the ultimate Europe crusher. Looks like it can get you anywhere comfortably in rapid time. Just driving overnight and putting in 600 miles in a few hours. Not even feeling the distance.
I’m new to this channel. And I also think the same thing. It’s the big draw for me. This guy is so knowledgeable. And obviously he’s probably one of the only handful of people on the planet with this amount of knowledge on these cars across the entire range right down to every single technical detail and nut and bolt. But he’s humble with it and just such a nice guy. If I won won the lottery I’d spend it all within two years down at this guys garage getting my Ferraris and getting this guy to restore them. And happily to do so too
For its time it is actually fantastic. You can't compare a Porsche PDK of 2023 to a Ferrari single clutch unit of 2003! The same can be said of the Aston and the BMW units. Time changes everything, don't let hindsight afflict you soo much and if its that much of an issue, find a manual and pay the premium!
marvelous colour combination

20 years old and looks like it’s just come straight out of the production line. You do prepare a nice car Ian.
