Vanquish S Forever ! Timeless design, one of the greatest engine sounds ever, last of handbuilt Aston at Newport Pagnell and only 1086 ever built. This car has a huge road presence. What a sound !!!
You know it! Thanks for watching
It's great to see someone appreciate the British metal. But, I would have a 550,straight piped one.
would love ferrari still have manual option... 575 looks great even nowadays, awesome style
It’s aged so well! Imagine a manual F12....
@@scd you should review sometime one of the few 430 or 599 manual... the end of an era for Ferrari
The vanquish looks so much better it's stunning
It’s a perfectly formed thing 😍
One of the best looking car in history, even better IMHO tant the DBS that followed.
Opinions
I just don’t know which one I would rather have , I would imagine the Ferrari would be a better drive but ...the Aston has that special something you can’t quite put your finger on
It also sounds incredible, I think I’ve made my mind up , I’d take the Aston 👍🏻
Aston sounds incredible and as a manual is a joy to drive! The want is strong. Could imagine smashing through continents in this!
TheSUPERCARDRIVER
That’s what I was imagining ,blasting through France on the way to the Côte d’Azur possibly taking a detour to take in the alps !!
I can’t wait for this lockdown to end , I think we will all appreciate our road trips even more 👍🏻
I would also probably chose the Aston over the 575M .... but to be honest for what the Aston cost I would really go for a 997 turbo s
I just think that Vanquish S looks amazing 🤤😍
It really does! Best colour for it
I love my 575. I've had it for 6 years and will never sell it. Even with the F1 shift it's so easy to drive..in town it makes traffic driving easy and on the attack on the mountains the changes are plenty fast enough. Faster than I could shift gears in my 355. I always use the paddles, never the auto setting. The car is great on long journeys and tremendous in the twisties. It's a hidden gem.
It truly is! Thanks for sharing and enjoy the car 🙌
Does it attract attention ? Which color is it ? Im considering to buy it one day but im worried it would draw attention.
@@konliner9286 it's Rosso Corsa. The only people who look at it are school kids and tradies. And other car guys, I assume. It dodgy get the attention my 355 did. Good luck. If you do pull the trigger you'll love driving it. Plenty of power, a great car.
As a British kid born in the early 60's,and a OO7 fan,I had to buy an Aston Martin,so I did. 👍.
True!
Great video! I own a manual DB9 V12 and have driven about 10k with it through Europe and the UK. I can highly recommend it and the sound is just awesome (especially through the alps).
Pleased to hear it Tim! That’s what they’re here for 👏👏
Both cars are fantastic.
Totally shocked the 575s are as low as 60ks these days. One sold at auction yesterday for £61k and the one Damon Hill tested on topgear is currently for sale at £59k....bloody nuts😳 But I suppose collapsing the economy will do that🙄
Great video thank you.🤗
Lot of car for the £££! Thanks for watching Chaz! We need to film your 355
Manual Vanquish S, every time. That said, 550 is the best value of these Ferrari's imo.
They have gone up in value a lot. Still great car.
I would take a 550's looks over a 575 every time.
Great review! Made my Good Friday morning watching this in isolation.
Happy days! Pleased to hear it
Like JWW but civilized and better audio. My one requested would be make the video longer. 😁
Haha why thank you 🙏
Thank you for this video, these were two dream cars when I was young, and the Vanquish still is. So beautiful it's almost perfect !
I would pick the Aston... such an incredible looking thing.
Shall we talk about looks? That alone would give the Aston my vote. Couple that with the sound, the cachet of the Aston brand and the better chassis. I'd save 100k and be far happier with the Aston. Great video
Aston is absolutely gorgeous to look at, so pretty and well proportioned! Can’t argue with you, you make a great point
Charlie Chetwood just such a shame about the shit interior!
Just found your channel by searching 575m manual. Well done sir. Subscribed
GOOD WORK. Lots of driving video, sound, great scenery while avoiding choppy editing and too loud music. Comparisons really help reveal differences, please make more. Go back prior versions and models, so 575 without handling pack (thus less bouncy), 550, 456, vs Astons and even some of the Jags despite their auto only configurations.
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the video. More cool videos to come
The Vanquish was made when Ford still owned Aston. The 5.9L V12 it used was essentially two Ford Duratec V6s welded together
I'd love to own a straight piped 550 someday, Ferrari V12s are something special and they need to be celebrated. Aston, well that's the best of British muscle. It's great to see Aston Martin Works put in the effort to install the gearbox Vanquish always deserved.
Excellent review. Can actually hear the speech which helps. Subscribed!
At the time I thought the Vanquish looked nicer but 20 years later I actually think the 575M has aged better. I loved this generation of Aston's styling but the DB9 and V8 Vantage were the real lookers in the range. The Vanquish isn't bad looking at all but from certain angles it looks a bit awkward. The way the rear quarter panel meets the doors for example almost looks like two different cars stuck together. Wouldn't complain to have either to be honest but a manual 575M would be my choice
Fantastic. Imagine an open gated manual ENZO. That would be awesome. I wonder if any were built for the Sultan of Brunei....... 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Very good video - well done
Thanks for watching
Driven a manual and paddle vanquish and on an open road preferred the paddle version. In town and parking, might be a different choice..... The paddle change needs careful setting up to work at it's best, but if you lift throttle slightly on up changes, you don't get the lunging effect, just reasonably quick, smooth changes. Thank you for the video scd.
this feels like an homage to the Top Gear piece with Damon Hill...
Well balanced and perceptive review; but forgive me, the paddle shift on the S is far from “woeful”. Having driven one for several years, I can say all it needs is just a little patience to realise the sound of the engine tells you when to change up or down best, and to treat the change as if it were a manual one. Once mastered its fine! Sadly few reviewers knew this, so the false heresy of an appalling Vanquish S gearbox was born. Loved your vid anyway and of course subscribed; thank you.
I would take the Ferrari that gator shift , moving that must feel so good
Ferrari 550 is may favorite front engined ferrari but damn that Aston Martin vanquish is so much more beautiful
Great video.
Love them both.
I'd have the 575 in Tour de France blue and the Vanquish S in British Racing Green.
Good choice!
Ferrari for me ,especially with that gated manual, love the click it makes with every shift😊
For a GT car and been both launched not too far apart, I gotta give this to Aston Martin. It looks better and more cohesive. I love Ferrari, but the 575m was just a refreshed 550 Maranello and it seems out of place next to the Vanquish
The Aston is a beauty, such muscular styling and so pretty
Vanquish....soon beautiful and awesome noise
Both timeless cars
They are! Thanks for watching
Two of my favorite dream cars. I love them both equally. Thanks.
Pleasure! Thanks for watching
Another great video, thanks! 575M for me.
Me too
Awesome content👌🏻
Thanks for watching
Make more cars like that manufacturers! No more turbo and hibrid shit
Great review!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
Just like the old comparison with Jeremy Clarkson and Damon Hill! Great video
Wasnt there also a topgear episode comparing the two with Clarkson and Steve coogan?
More like this please!
3:42 that transition is cool as hell
This reminds me of that Top Gear episode, but with the crappier gearboxes replaced with manuals
That’s definitely the inspiration! We grew up watching those episodes
The 575m is timeless and georgeous. One of my favorite ferrari designs. The vanquish is so masculine, handsome and suave. I feel like i would rather own the 575, but rather drive and daily the vanquish, kinda wierd
If I'd be in a market for a "horse" I'd be probably looking for a 430 Scuderia or 458. In a grand tourer field I'd definitely take the Aston. It has so much more coolness and elegance than the ostentatious Ferrari... Even though 575 in a gray or blue paint would be also sweet...
Imagine just one instant a 812 and a d11 with manuals today?!!! 🙊🔞
😍 Oh that 575 though! 😍 Nice one Matt.
Thanks Simon! We just need to get our hands on a manual 430 now 👀😂
TheSUPERCARDRIVER 🤣 Ready when you are!!!!! 🚗🚗
Ah, the good ol’ days of the timeless big engine out front rwd manual
You know it! 🙏
This recipe is perfect for me. I will miss it.
Us too! Sublime cars
Nice one.
Love the 575M
Remember when top gear did these two. Jezza n Steve looked like they had good fun.
Jezza tested these cars indeed with Damon Hill
MrElpincheaca yep and later Steve Coogan
@@scd That's right! I just remember that.
Ferrari, simply the best. Awesome video 👏🏻
They are!
I’d like to see a c6 z06 in this comparison
This is why I bought a 550. Half the price of a manual 575 and 99.9% of the car.
Great purchase! Nice one
I actually think it looks better.
That 575 also has the HGTC package.
Yep! Very rare example
I love the two cars, but the 575 is another level of performance and beauty, the British insist on comparing the AMs as if they were at the same level of performance and are not even close, in the queisot beauty is relative according to the taste of each person, but Ferrari performance is one step up! But I still prefer the Ferrari 550 over the 575, although the differences are small in design and the 575 is a better car, I think the 550 is much more beautiful! Great content!!
Oh dear lol I don't think Aston Martin ever said oh even thought that really. But the vanquish is one of the most stunning cars around and aged really well. It defiantly put them away from the old guy scene. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Ferrari fan. But a tad loyal to am either way excellent comparison of such simlier yet so separate vehicles
Love both cars, both are gorgeous, both have aged well, both have their own charm. The Vanquish sounds monumental while the Ferrari looks slightly better, more sporty. If I had to pick one, I'd take the 575M.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙌
Never been a fan of the 575 styling, I much prefer the 550 with its smiling front end. As for the Vanquish, it definitely should have manual gearbox as standard since day one.
Is 3:10 just before you get to middle rasen?😂
Well done! Ive had both the Vanquish and the 550 ,while the 550 or 575 in this case looks dated to its time period but its still more nimble and was born with the stick shift . I love the Vanquish , its character and charm, but its a Grand Tourer these days. The Aston turns the heads of all, the Ferrari to some, both great cars.gtjoey1314
And you drove a vanquish 10k mile and wrote a book about it!
@@markgtrheyes what's the name of the book ?
@@johnstuckaiii Me and My Vanquish An Aston Adventure by Joe Limongelli
Manual 550/575 has been a dream car since i was growing up
Same!
Two beautiful cars...I'd take a DBS Superleggera over an 812 in terms of design, but in older cars, Italy wins! 550/575 is to me the best looking front engined Ferrari!
#SaveTheManuals!
You know it! Thanks for watching
Cmon man 812 Is Superb😊🤌🏻🔥
calum version of vanquish is better
Bit more expensive though...
Among every iteration of Ferrari vs Aston Martin V12 GT, this was an easy pick for the Vanquish.
The 575 looks a bit boring and the V12 in Vanquish just sounds so much better.
What are your choices then between the DBS vs 599, Vanquish vs F12 and DBS SL vs 812?
@@graygamingps4503 DBS was a looker, but also just a souped up DB9, whereas 599 was more performance focused but lacked the looks. Draw I guess?
Vanquish vs F12 is a tough one. Vanquish looks really good but F12 ain't a bad looker. But F12 dominates the Vanquish with its 730hp V12. F12 here.
812 vs DBS SL. Well DBS SL has the looks but again just a souped up DB11. 812 on the other hand, looks good and has a monstrous engine. A screaming V12 vs a turbo V12? 812 all the way.
@@SayakMajumder For me the DBS beats the 599 hands down. The Vanquish also beats the F12 but I agree the Vanquish could of done with a little more power, I suppose the Vanquish S solves that somewhat. I'm an Aston Martin enthusiast but if there was one generation where it would be tricky it's this one. I think the DBS SL is better looking and I still do prefer the car overall but you simply cannot beat a NA V12
@@graygamingps4503 Vanquish S might be my favorite Gran tourer Aston after the One-77(mainly because of its 7.3 V12).
I kinda like the brutish look of the new DBS sl.
Other than that Vulcan is also one of my favs, but its track only.
The Valkyrie is just too extreme. Its less of an 'Aston'. But the extreme aero and that otherworldly V12 might make it one of the greatest car to hit the public road.
@@SayakMajumder I think I prefer the GT Astons to the Vantage. The Vantage is brilliant no doubt but the big tourers are what an Aston means in my opinion. The Vulcan is a different beast altogether. Yeah I can understand what you mean about the Valkyrie, no doubt its one of the greatest cars of all time but its so unreachable its hard to relate to
Question is: manual Vanquish S or *550* Maranello?!
Hmmmm
Is it me or does that 575 have a huge front bumper-bonnet panel gap?
Hard to explain without "in person" demonstration.
From side, bumper stick out to give shark like expression and in same time it makes tribute to older Ferraris like 288 GTO, F40, F50 that have those same lines both in front and sides. Still 575m doesn't have those lines on sides because of huge shark gills.
Ferrari 575 plus an aftermarket exhaust, jobs a good un
Would certainly liven it up a bit!!
I still don't understand why Ferrari won't build limited numbers of some of their cars with manuals. They could charge whatever they wanted and people will pay.
True.. just rather they still gave the option at least
Can I take the 575 but in blue with magnolia hide please..
And.
.
.
.
The Aston with a baseball glove interior.
Aston with Tan would be a winner
This is an amazing FERRARI...
😁😁😄
5:53
Love the Aston but my transit van has a better interior
I drove a manual 575 and fell in love. I can't stomach the premium for the manual box though so I'm on the hunt for a 550. The best exhaust you can put on one of these is made by an enthusiast engineer owner in Italy - Fabio. It then does sound like something special.

ua-cam.com/video/VkRUkO3K8T0/v-deo.html&feature=emb_rel_end
Definitely need an exhaust to liven up the driving experience! Good luck with your search 👏
I have this exhaust on my 550. It is life changing, and Fabio is a superhero.
Good luck. I bought a Vanquish, but 550 was also on the list.
The front of 575 M looks like a Supra.
No it doesn’t.
Not even close in person. The 575 with that hood air-intake is a style win from the front and front 3/4 view
I would chose the 575M
It’s certainly the more desirable option but that said the Aston is a brute
@@scd For sure, but I like the GT experience with kind of supercar nerve. Great work comparing both of them!
I sold the 575 back to JCT600 in Leeds a few years ago during my divorce when my wife stood on the doorstep demanding to know 'where her Ferrari was' one of my bigger mistakes....
9 9 3
You could have F1 also on the 550
No, only 3 550s were fitted with F1 as 575 prototypes and were never intended for sale. F1 was never an option on the 550.
Only Britain bias person would choose the Aston. That interior would not look out of place in Volvo.
super GT
Just get a manual DBS instead of the Vanquish. Better in every way!
Not as beautiful. And not a piece of history like the Vanquish S was.
The DBS is slower than the Vanquish S, not only on top speed but on acceleration. The DBS is also quieter than the Vanquish S and does not offer such a driving experience... the DBS remains a tuned DB9, the chassis does not feel as stiff and superb than the Vanquish S' one. The Vanquish S is an other league, no doubt about it.
DBS nice, but looks wise, vanquish just levels ahead
Ferrari could do with a Tubi..ha yes, the driver noticed
The Aston looks dull in comparison, plus I'd bet it's not that reliable.
Ferrari
has anyone seen any ugly v12 ferrari? never.
Ff , gtc/4 , 812 , 400 series a few pretty bizarre coschbuilt 250s back in the 50s and 60s
@Acesuprol 2107 I used to , gone right off ferrari as of late , not one single current model I actually like , 599 gto and 458 lasts models I liked.
Yeah 612 Scaglietti is ugly
The 456 isn't exactly pretty
@@livingroomguitarist7 it's the best looking 2+2 Ferrari in a long time , the 612 that came after it wasnt as good looking and then the ff and gtc/4 are shockingly bad looking cars
Vanquish sounds better and looks better🤩...but the interior🤮
