    Since 2019, the GT models come with Bilstein shocks and LSD (in manual only). There is no difference compared to the Club model. The only difference is that the Club can get the BBS Brembo package which offers the upgrade brakes, which is about the only thing that affects performance and I guess you can argue that the Recaro seats offer more bolstering, but it's nothing you will even notice unless you track back to back. So yeah, the GT is just about as sporty now.

      Appreciate the feedback, I didn’t know the GT and Club come with LSD and Bilsteins with the manual after 2019. Thought they kept the differences the same like the ND1

      Technically in 2019 it was an option package for MT GT models called the GTS package. Starting in 2020 it just became standard equipment for an MT GT.

    Not 500hp but 500 smiles and giggles every time you drive it! First time Miata owner here and I came from a 550whp STI and bought a 2019 RF GTS and I have WAY more fun in the ND2 RF than I did in my STI hahahaa

      Wow that's kind of mind boggling lol but that's making me hype to keep saving up for one 😅

    The Club and GT manual are mechanically identical. Both have the Bilstein dampers, LSD, and strut tower brace. The only difference is the $4500 Bembo/BBS option package that is available on the Club, but that's not really adding any performance. It's more just an appearance package. I don't know why so many people think the Club is different in some meaningful way, it's not.

      @@general_carz Ah don't tell me that, I've just bought an ND2! Haha. No, I totally hear you & appreciate the ND3 has some nice refinements.
      Keep up the good work. Cheers 👍

      @AdAstra78 I appreciate the support brother. I enjoy providing review content. Got a lot of inspiration from savagegeese for how simple yet detailed they are with their content so I hope I can make it like them one day 🙏. But you'll still love your ND2 for sure

    Excellent review! I'm looking at getting one. Have sat in one, but have not test driven yet. It was a snug fit (I'm 6'5"), so the test drive will determine if I can make it work. Thanks for the info!

    I have that exact model, color and year but in the automatic cause in my country the rf is sold only as auto, i picked it up 3 weeks ago, however, the transmission is not bad IF you are driving fast, if you are going slow it’s a little Annoying, with or without the paddle shifters/stick. I would rather a stick but not bad at all, I treat it more as a “luxury car pretty boy car” cause of the looks more than a sports car lol

    One more thing about the ND and ND2 (2019+) is that yes there is a supercharger or turbocharger that you can get aftermarket but you would also need to upgrade other components. Mazda prioritized saving weight in this car, so a lot of the components, such as suspensions, injectors, clutch, transmission are very close to its limits already. If you're going to get 210whp via forced induction, you will want to upgrade the other stuff as well so that it can actually handle more power. So yes, it is possible to get more power out of it, but to do it correctly without destroying the car is going to cost quite a bit. I've looked around to throwing a turbocharger into mine and so far the costs are around $10k to get everything I've mentioned upgraded. It's not cheap.

    • @general_carz
      @general_carz  Рік тому

      Yeaaaaaaaa I can imagine how pricey it can get lol! Appreciate the information though. Honestly though with 181hp though it’s quite fun for what it is to be honest.

      Transmisions seem fine unless you just get a dud, but they extended warranty on that for early models. Supercharger is running fine on the girlfriend's '17. In my opinion I liked it more without the supercharger, but it's neat with it as well. It's still not a fast car by any means, but the punch does help a little migrating through highway traffic with a bit less worry of a downshift. Haven't found anything to be too weak. On the third gen RX7 they got carried away and sacrificed too much stength for lightness, but this car seems solid enough.

    Nice work! I have a '22 soft-top GT, I can't really see the reason for having the RF with a folding metal roof. I drove both models, and strangely the RF with the roof open was actually noisier than the soft-top with the roof completely down. Save some $$ and save some weight go with the soft-top!

    • @general_carz
      @general_carz  Рік тому

      I like the RF for the looks and slightly better stability around corners. But your right the soft top is definitely more playful and overall better.

    • @PerryPapanier
      @PerryPapanier Рік тому +2

      It's a personal choice. I got a 2022 GT RF manual and like the looks of it over the soft top. It's my weekend toy and so much fun to drive.

    Hey bro, only small correction, Nd1 engine was not "more economy tuned" engine, they simply didn't have enough time to play with this one. Nd miata should be originally built (only) with 1.5 engine and they spent lots of time to tune this one. They added 2.0 later during the development.

    • @general_carz
      @general_carz  Рік тому

      Oh ok interesting, I never fully understood the story behind the 2.0 just knowing it was an after thought because the 1.5 was the main one they focused on. But thank you for the info though. Noted!

      Hey Bro , not really all the info either. The ND for the European market did get developed on the 1.5 L engine. However Mark Coleman the North American Chief Design Engineer brought over the Japanese counter parts & had a meet / greet with American Miata enthusiasts. The overwhelming complaint coming from Americans ... not enough power. So Mark pushed for the 2.0 L engine for the American market instead of the 1.5L engine. He got his way & we got the 2.0 L premium fuel tuned engine. The design for the ND went back to the 1st Generation to get every gram of weight designed out of the ND. They used aluminum where they could instead of steel. Every part was looked at to reduce the weight. My 2016 soft top Club weighs 2320 pounds. Its unheard of in todays world of over weight SUVs to have a vehicle this light & nimble.

    10:05 Less than 30seconds to close/open the top? It's 13seconds to be exact LOL! Nice and quick review, but I think you need a bit more research (ND1 HP was very incorrect)

    GR86 is NOT same platform as a Miata!
    They are very different.
    If you meant they are both sports cars, then yes.
    But same platform, cmon man, you sound ignorant.

    • @general_carz
      @general_carz  3 місяці тому

      Yea it was definitely meant as sports cars. Platform is wild to think they’re the same. My vocabulary isn’t the best but I’ve been improving doing a lot more research on platforms and understanding of vehicles better and how to explain it. There was a time I said twin torsion beam suspension when that doesn’t even exist and it’s just I get it mixed in my head 😅
