- In this video, Cathy describes the different natural pacemakers in the heart: the SA node (Sinus node) which generates a sinus rhythm, the atria foci which generate an atrial rhythm, the junctional foci which generate a junctional rhythm, and the ventricular foci which generate a ventricular rhythm. Cathy describes the inherent rate and key characteristics of each pacemaker, which will help you understand and differentiate the different dysrhythmias.

Can you explain why VT is fast despite the pacemaker originating in the ventricles for this rhythm? I’m confused about how it can be so fast is rhythms of the ventricles are 20-40 bpm. Thanks for your help!
Hi there! With VT, heart muscle damage leads to the creation of an abnormal electrical pathway in the ventricles, which causes the fast HR. Hope that helps!
