Crew Dragon’s First Demonstration Mission | One-Year Launch Anniversary
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 бер 2020
- On March 2, 2019, Falcon 9 launched Crew Dragon on its first demonstration mission, and the next day it became the first American spacecraft to autonomously dock with the International Space Station. After its stay at the space station, the spacecraft successfully splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean, completing its mission and demonstrating SpaceX’s capabilities to safely and reliably fly astronauts to and from the space station as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

I still cannot believe how flawless this mission was.
Boeing can't believe it either! :)

0:29 is one of the coolest POVs I've ever seen in decades of watching things launch. Need more out the window shots of liftoff.
I love the 1:12 and 1:20 views of Dragon approaching for docking, with that strobe light. Looks so totally like a sci-fi movie from 30 years ago, the special effect they'd get on film with models.
No kidding. Shot was amazing!
I agree. I rewatched that part multiple times - first time seeing something like it.
mycroft16 Agree this is exactly why astronauts would see on the actual launch!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought this. It makes me feel like this could be a view I might get to experience in my lifetime 🚀
The fact that im here 5 minutes after the posting and theres already thousands of likes, comments and views reminds me that there is still hope for the future of space in my life time. Thank you elon and space x team!
Not nearly enough as many as other channels posting sheit unfortunately

Absolutely awe-inspiring, watching Crew Dragon, Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, Starhopper and hopefully Starship SN-2 take flight makes me wonder if this is how my parents felt during the Space Race. It’s a great time to be alive.
Yes
Even if it ends up being SN-12 that takes the first flight it'll still make Starship worth it (I think).
This is unprecedented because the amount of coverage. Streaming was not a thing back then, nor was the mentality of transparency and open development. What we are seeing is beyond amazing, and we are very lucky to have the privilege of observing this in real time.
@Prowler Cam Fortunately SpaceX vision wasn't just for flags & footprints, but a city/civilization on Mars, especially one Mars mission take a lot more time than Apollo, so there's a more lasting piece of interests (and finger-crossing moments, from launch > refueling > transfer burn > Mars EDL > marswalk > 2 years later launching from Mars > Earth EDL = 4 years mission)
Also SpaceX isn't tied to the political issues like the government does
I felt during the Space Race - totally fascinated and inspired. Mercury through Apollo 17 covered 1st grade thru high school. But watching SpaceX do what they do, how they do it, is at another level.

Just absolutely spectacular!! Can't wait for Demo-2!!!
The next one isn't going to be a demo: Barring a catastrophe on launch, or Boeing's hidebound operation managing to get their fecal matter into one pile and their mallards in a linear formation, SpaceX will beat *everyone* on being the first for-profit NGO to put a crew up to the ISS. And that's going to happen soon. Like, "this May, probably early to mid."
@@bobthecannibal1 The next mission is named Demo Mission 2...

Please make a "how to not pressurize a starship tank" video.
Give them a year or two to gather more footage first! They're still in the early days, I'm sure there'll be more dramatic testing to come :).

Wow, what an excellent video! I wish everyone documented their missions this well.
That was truly historic!
Well i wouldnt say that by any means, tbh im tired of everything being called historic right now, The company will remember this, but humanity wont. Those are the things that should be called historic. Not just every little thing that is a first in the smallest way.
For a private company sure. But we (America) are finally getting back to what we had the capacity to do nearly 60 years ago.
@@Vatsyayana87 I understand and I agree. But for me that was historic. As well as the first unsuccessful attempt to land the first stage. I understand that people will remember first launch, first landing, first reuse, future first people on the orbit. In this way - those are historic points.
But when I saw first attempt to land, I knew it's happening. It was just a matter of time. The first step is made and the result is not terrible. That means it's possible! For me that was a historic one. I remember that one the most. So, in a way, certain small attempt could be historic as well.
@@Wloudeemre I respect that and i believe the first landing attempt was historic as well. It was the entire human race taking a step, doesnt matter that we fell on our face, that was historic :)
