Nemesis vs Mr. X - Who's the Better Stalker?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 кві 2020
- Since time immemorial - or at least 1999 when Resident Evil 3 first launched for the PS One - the question has been asked. Nemesis or Tyrant - which is better? Which is more capable at hunting down plucky heroes that could a throw a wrench into Umbrella's plans? With the recent Resident Evil 3 remake, offering a revamp of the age-old Pursuer, and last year's Resident Evil 2 remake turning Mr. X into a horror game icon, it's time to revisit the age-old debate.

No man, Nemesis is much mire terrifying because theres fire and explosions in the background
You hear Mr. X ‘s footsteps, you hear Nemesis RUNNING BEHIND YOU. I think the reason why Mr. X may feel more terrifying is just because of the game that he’s in, but when you look at the Tyrants themselves, Nemesis definitely takes it. He can run, hit fast, jump in front of you, use flamethrowers, rocket launchers, uses tentacles to pull you back, and is specifically hunting YOU.
Mr. X is much scarier because his approach is realistic and simple. Nemesis becomes too unbelievable and this diminishes the threat he poses.

X is scarier only because of how limited you are in RE2. The police station is an easy place to get cornered and the mix of zombies, lickers, and Cerberus dogs makes it very difficult to play. Trying to solve a puzzle or go from point a to point b made me save often.
gotta save it
If you’ve boarded up windows and cleaned up the main hallways of RPD, it shouldn’t be that bad. It’s a good idea to kill Lickers along main routes, anyway, and that’s pretty easy with Claire at least. Mr. X is more intimidation and mental pressure than anything. He can hurt you but you can also run past him even if you get cornered.
YES RIGHT THERE! When I played for the first time, I had 50+ saves and 14 hours of playtime. 💀 But now just 2 saves cuz I know which part to do a hard save cuz you'll most likely die if not prepared with right items. Now if Capcom decided to make RE:8 when you have all the unkillable giants from RE2-7 plus Lady Dimitrescu "working" as a team, oh yea we're gonna be saving so much.
Funny story you know when you find the key card in re2 and all the jail cells open and let all the zombies out well my husband turned tail and ran away from them and when he was almost out the end of the hall here comes Mr.X turning the corner stalking Leon like nobody's business and he was like NOPE and turned tail again and went back the other way! 🤣🤣🤣 he rather go through a horde of zombies than face that mofo on roids. Yuugon it’s fine if he’s scripted, they just didn’t give him enough encounters with him chasing you. Honestly, his mutated forms are LESS of a threat I think. @@MrDarksword123 exactly if he wasn't scripted because he was he was no threat at all almost anytime he showed was at predetermined moments sequences they could have done way more completely dropped the ball
Eddie Rivers agreed, his first form was just way too short lived. The problem was not because he was scripted but because he was not utilized enough. Did it hurt to throw in a few more sections in the city? Also we could have gotten another fight with him using the rocket launcher in the fight. I do like the game but it was either rushed or they focused more on resistance (that mode I could careless for, it isn’t even fun).
@dayum son exactly I wanted him to do more stalking I wanted him to break through walls ect because with everything nemesis can do I just expected more they definitely dropped the ball no doubt
Mr.X is more intimidating but Nemesis is way more dangerous
Something I appreciate more about Mr. X than Nemesis is his design. Nemesis is scary looking, but he's a monster without a second thought. But Mr. X has this really off putting attire and design that makes him look human. He feels alien, trying to blend in and I think that makes him somewhat scarier than Nemesis.
Imagine if they took Nemesis's brutality and put it together with Mr.X. I wouldn't run I'll accept death.
You would pretty much get the T-103 Tyrants’ portrayal in Operation Raccoon City, with that combination. Unless you had the flamethrower to cheese them with, the regular Tyrants in that spinoff game were absolute beasts.

It depends on the situation. With nemesis, you've got space to go to. You have a big street, you have those explosives and those things that can paralyze him or the zombies. But with Mr. X, its a whole different case. You are crammed into one room, or one hallway with only one way to go. Also, even if u lose Mr. X by running, he can come crashing out of a wall out of nowhere and you're screwed. Also, the police station is full of lickers and zombies (not considering if you killed them or not, they spawn randomly), which makes it even WORSE. Can you imagine Mr. X being behind you and there are two lickers in front of you? Just terrifying. Mr. X definitely.
Nah, Mr. X crashing out of a wall is scripted and only happens once as far as I remember. Sure you have open streets with Nemesis, but did you forget he can literally outrun you and use long-range grabs? The harder part about Mr. X is he takes way more damage to stun, otherwise you can lose him by just going through a single door. The police station enemies are also not random at all, if you kill all of them then the game isn't going to spawn more until you reach the next part of the story. Even still it usually doesn't spawn in new enemies, it just makes zombies who started off "dead" start walking around.
@@JohnDoeWasntTaken nemesis was destroyed in the remake, its not even a comparison m8
Mr X is what nemesis was in the original and modern nemesis is a bitch who gets made a fool out of at every turn by jill, insulting him a lot and making even less scary and intimidating
the nemesis parts are scripted too though and easy as hell to get through, ESPECIALLY now theres a damn dodge button that we didnt have in RE2 trivialising our humiliated and butchered boy even further

@@OWmyDragonballz and goes down with a single grenade and stop moving for a loooong time, and also is easily avoidable 😂
I think it really came down to the pathing design for Nemesis. Obviously RE3 encompassed a much bigger area of RC, I think it just boiled down to not wanting to code pathing for each area. Hence why he was made into more of a scripted enemy. I will always choose nemesis over Mr. X. Just my opinion.
Mr. X is terrifying whenever he pops up out of the blue, whereas Nemesis is terrifying because of how linear and streamlined the levels are.
Ironicly, they flipped this on it’s head. In the original re2, Mr X. Has a few scripted apperances, while Nemesis was permament. In the RE2make, Mr. X permamently stalks you, while in re3make, Nemesis have scripted apperances.
On this case, Mr. x is way more terrifying and the better stalker, while Nemesis is more badass and (dare I add) cool as hell.
Scripted appearances or not, Nemesis was still more formidable than the T-103.
@@captainjaber5610 the video is talking about who's better not who's stronger
@@ficusiris9407 But someone that is stronger, automatically is better. Nemesis was the best bioweapon Umbrella had
@@MelanineQueen98 I'd say that Mr. X was far less formidable, but his usage in the re2 vs. Nemesis' usage in re3 was far better because the atmosphere, tone and pacing of the game itself sort of built a dread surrounding X, but Nemesis was just sort of a 'wow factor' because he kept coming back rather than being a mysterious villain. It honestly depends on the usage of the term "better" because X would get his ***** kicked by Nemesis but most players were more intimidated by X (thematically or practically better?).
@@MelanineQueen98 nah resident evil damnation tyrants are the best
They both scary in their own ways, but they serve different purposes.
Mr. X seems more like an obstacle, or random walking puzzle that u must figure a way around. Most of the time you can run from him. But there were a few times I opened a door directly to him, or got punched as soon as u opened the save room door. This level of randomness is terrifying. You do face him as a boss eventually, but he is not the final one...He has a big advantage in the fear department, cause he doesn't vocalize, and barely gestures...just walks T800 style towards u once he spots u. Plus, those footsteps which you can hear off in the distance, in the same room, or the one next to or above you, on surround sound, especially with the original RE2 OST enabled is no joke...
Nemesis, on the other hand, is the games boss. You see him attack you a bit more directly, when the story prompts for it. He doesn't show up randomly, which puts him at a disadvantage. Also, in addition to Re 2 remake, I've played a few games where you are being stalked constantly, and are at a safe distance, but you can still see the stalker searching for you (evil within 2, RE 7). Nemesis would be eons scarier if there was this, or some kinda prelude to its attacks, like hearing S.T.A.R.S!!! whilst unseen, but near enough your proximity like in the Re 2 remake updated demo....yet still, he has a flamethrower, tentacles, the ever iconic laser guided rocket launcher, an insanely fast leap, frequent mutations and the potential to still fuck u up if your careless..
I agree in terms of badassery I think nemesis takes it
i player both games but i still think res evil 2 is better because it makes you fell anxius and mr x its not really a boss fight but you need to escape from him , at the other hand nemesis the the macotte of resident evil , he is more lika a boss fight in the remake , and it really isnt scary because it obius when hes gonna attack you
When you get the respectible 2nd place, but theres only 2 of you.
Its like Mr. X is wearing an Iron Vest under his Coat
Mr. X : Micheal Myers
Nemesis : Jason Vorhees
Némesis: Leatherface*
I mean nemesis comes rushing straight to you while Mr x knows that you're there but he prefers to wait for you to surround yourself.
@@Nero-xp5kx he means nemesis can take a lot of deadly things like Jason Voorhees.

@@rokayayassin1210 no Jason is better
Mr X follows you around everywhere and he’s just more terrifying
How is mr x scarry lol my nigga look like. Inspector gadget after the meth but cant lie the foot step is more threatning then the monsters
@A 100% Pure furry at least nemesis can run, also he has a freaking flame thrower, his appearances are much more intense, sure the feeling of mr x stomping around with those footsteps in the house is more chilling and creepy, but when the nemesis chases you, he is very fast, has a long range to catch up to you, can slide in front of you, has a bloody rocket launcher
Power and Strength = Nemesis
More intensity = Nemesis
Terrifying and Creepy = Mr X
End of story
@A 100% Pure furry yeah that’s what I meant, cuz if you’re talking about intensity when both of them are chasing you clearly nemesis will feel more terrifying
But over all I think mr is is way scarier when you hear his footsteps lol the anxiety is real with mr x
He just annoyed me more than anything.
@@Hisoblack29 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The only time I used ammo on X, during the chase sequences, was to blow his hat off (as soon as he appeared) I didn't bother wasting ammo on him after that, as it is just that "wasting" it. You can't kill him, you're best just looping him so you can get where you need to be. The only really scary bit is when you need to move the ladders in the library, as he teleports to you (there's another part as well when you pick up a certain item, he teleports to you)
Mr x is more of a stalker but nemesis just breaks through walls and smashes into everything
@GAMER KING OF MINECRAFT yea but I like nemesis more bc he looks cooler but Mr X is more creepy
Nemesis felt like you were watching a movie when he appeared. Mr. X you were in the movie when he appeared. Mr. X was way better.
Good description
II nosferatu II is it because he’s scripted
Mr x never slams doors for something to be so deadly & polite at the sametime is just marvelous
Mr. X is more dynamic and unpredictable. But ironically he's also more predictable because once you figure out how to get around him he becomes more of an annoyance than a genuine threat. I've had a few runs where he just sits in the library when I needed to do the puzzle. Basically had to run to the other side of the police station and make a ton of noise just to get him out of there.
Nemesis shows up in scripted moments but coming straight off of RE2 I just about went into cardiac arrest when you think you lost him and then he falls out of the sky like superman right in your path and starts running straight at you. Nemesis is way more terrifying. There is no easy way to avoid him and he's designed to exploit how players would avoid Mr. X. I really love the audio design too how you can hear him say S.T.A.R.S. when he's running up behind you.
lets not forget that 1 grenade to nemesis stuns him but with mr x its like tickling him
Basically:
Mr.X is the best stalker: We will appear randomly whenever you wouldn't expecting him, but you can ran away with ease from him.
Nemesis is a lot more straight forward: he can and would kill you with the strangest way possible, whether it is a Parasite-Zombie or a Rocket, and he will NOT stalk you that much: as soon as he sees you, you're practically screwed.
@dayum son there's another reason: Nemesis is less scary than Mr.X because he's the perfect example of how you Think a monster would be. And you know, thanks to that, that Nemesis doesn't exist. MR.X, on the other hand, is almost like a real human: that could make you think that Mr.X could actually exist.
I'll say this again, if you played the game you'll realize that Nemesis objective was to kill Jill, he is more of a Terminator than a stalker... So I really don't get why people are comparing when Mr X and Nemesis has different rolls... Videos like these should really get put down, honestly, they are making kids dumb...lol...☹️💀🤣🤣
@@rainfall9490 I know, I don't get it either. LIKE HOW.
@@MfwPrivate tbh... In the original he was, if you may say all over place, he will in every corner... Mr X is like a T-800.
@@rainfall9490 yeah...In all Honesty tho, I really like Nemesis's new Final form... Even if the concept of shooting an invincible wall of flesh and Bones with a railgun is not really realistic... But we can all agree that the design itself is Reaaally good
Mr X was so scary that in RE3 I was worried that he would appear from nowhere as a cameo in the rpd police station but it never happened
I remember when I was playing re2. I was in the third floor running away from Mr. X and I dodge a few zombies. When I turn around I saw Mr. X bitch slapping a zombie, when I saw that I felt so intimidated.
lol
I hate how i lost all fear for Mr X because someone told me that he could have an amazing career in the NBA
Nemesis is boring cause he came back like 6 times so killing him felt like nothing cause you knew you’d see him again
Tyler that was the point of nemesis
Tyler so was mr x, he kept coming back
First time?
It would be lame if he died the first or second attempt to kill him. The more times they tried it just made him more badass. You just dont understand how things work
He got a strong regeneration than william birkin monster form
Nemesis is scripted and therefore predictable - shocking, but not scary. Mr. X was genuinely anxiety-inducing, especially on Hardcore. The sound of heavy boots was enough to make you freak out.
True, the Nightmare and Inferno mode make Nemesis a lot more intimidating, but you don't get that until you beat hardcore mode.
demondojr Couldn't have said it better myself
The Remake yes but The Original Nemesis beat Mr X
Mr x is also scripted
@@serenseitcean2051 His behavior may be scripted (as all AI is), but he relentlessly stalks you throughout the police station. Nemesis in RE3 Remake is relegated mainly to boss fights.
It only took 30 years but ive finally won the arguement against my brother. THANK YOU GAMING BOLT
I was quite disappointed in how they portrayed my favorite tyrant Nemesis in the remake. RE3 had always been my favorite and felt they did injustice to Nemmy. They made him predictable during encounters unlike Mr X. I mean, Nemmy still scared you with his running abilities and being more dangerous but making him unpredictable and bringing back the encounter decisions during encounters would've been more better.
Mr. X looks like the old man that lives at the end of the street.
That's what makes him so creepy now imagine Herbert's face from family guy. Chris come here chris come and play lol

Re 2 remake was my first re game, in my first encounter with him i pissed my pants, but i ram way and thought that was it. Until later when i asked myself: "why is the music suddenly so tense?" And then.... i looked back and saw him pursuing me, i never felt so scared and afraid in my entire life, a real masterpiece of a boss. I almost died 11/10.
You could call this a 1999 bizzare summer
Capcom might've been bombarded with negative comments on Mr.X, considering that some people were too afraid of him. I wanted Nemi to be a scarier version of Mr.X, always there to chase you n all, but they probably thought that people might get annoyed of him. Just a guess though
You're absolutely right! Despite everything I still enjoy the my encounters with Nemesis but still felt like it was lacking in a sense. They didnt call him the Pursuer for nothing. He shouldve been that constant threat, always hunting and searching for you. I blame the feedback from Mr X for this sort of Bland Version of Nemesis
Could addition of causal and horror way of game ?
I mean if someone is too scared of true Nemesis they get toned down , but if said player likes it rough well , though horror game was meant to be horror game after all .
They couldn't make Nemesis a contestant stalker like Mr.X because he's too lethal of a character to encounter that often.
@@F13thvoorhees Mr x isn't?. No, they started making re3make a few years ago, nothing to do with "complaints". Re2make was loved anyway. It was just what capcom wanted.
Smh, I wish they just made him totally unscripted and wondered around the city like Mr X did. If he did that, he would be comparable to the Xenomorph in alien isolation.
Exactly. I SOOO Badly wanted that. I loved his first form look too. The nose and piano teeth kinda grew on me. I was like meh when I saw his 2nd form...and how they handled him to look and act more like a generic B.O.W monster. more beastial and animal like which totally felt out of place. I kinda wished they had kept his overall human - tyrant shape intact and just kinda added new mutations.
AL Lusive yeah, I think they even said that he would be unscripted. Which turned out to not be the case
Should've happened but no they had to ruin nemesis. Imagine 2nd form could kill you in one hit, have sections in the game where you actually have to hide from nemesis, you try to use a knife on him and nemesis picks up your knife, breaks it, flings it away. The damn demo lied to us all that he would be a bigger presence. Yes in the original a lot of it was scripted but if you didn't beat him he would show up at random and put the fear of god in you. Now..he's a pathetic joke of a tyrant. Nemesis with today ai could've easily been on par if not higher than the xenomorph in isolation...but no due to some hating mr x being unfair we got this..nemewimp. This game needed much longer..i mean come on, the remake of re1 even improved the tyrant to the point he could punch away a rocket...there is no excuse for this outside of rushing this out.
wesker100000000 exactly! I would rather wait 5 FUCKING YEARS and make him 10x worse than tyrant than wait a little over a year and have him how he is now smh. I had so much faith in RE3. Well, at least RE2 remake was good :/
wesker100000000 Also tyrant? Unfair? I’m sorry but I’m done. Mr X In RE2 gave me so much stress I actually had to take a long break from the game. In fact, I actually stopped playing the game for like 6 months until picking it up again. He was that good. WHY DID YOU DO MY BOY NEMESIS LIKE THAT 😫

Exactly. I mean I didn't mind his first form look. The nose and piano teeth kinda grew one me. Overall I loved his first form in the remake. I just wished they handled him very unpredictable. Like Mr X but 10 x more. I was underwhelmed when they kinda rushed his mutation and on top of that completely made his 2nd form more animalistic and bestial. It felt weird and out of place. I was kinda hoping they would've kept the human shape and intelligence intact. Which made him more scarier than the licker-dog form.
If they handled him correctly he would have been scarier. There's a reason why nemesis was so hyped up and that's because he was way scarier in the original re3 than mr x was in original re2.
